Sol Sharm Hotel - Sharm El Sheikh - Egypt

We stayed in this hotel in may 2007 and it was amazing :-) The hotel staff were very friendly an helpful. They carry your bags to your rooms for you...always there to chat with and always have a smile on their faces!! My cleaner made me some lovely things out of towels :-) which i loved. The room was cleaned regularly and to a high standard. Our room had gorgeous sea views too :-)
The food, there was plenty of it and lots to choose from , i am a v v fussy eater but even i managed to eat something at each meal time....and my boyfriend never had a empty plate! Sometimes it was a little repetative if you had been there maybe 2 wks but thats to be expected. All the bars were always open and serving and they did everything they advertised they would!!

Sunrise Island View Resort - Sharm El Sheik - Egypt

Just come back after 2 weeks stay over xmas, this was our 4th visit to sharm and this was the best hotel by far! right from arriving the service was exellent, we were given a room that i had asked for that had been reccommended by somone who had stayed there, bathrooms were a bit tired but they were cleaned everyday so a minor thing.
food was superb lots of choice so never got bored, the italian and orriental both you have to book for were delicious, drinks were better than we have had before in egypt and the red wine was lovely like an echo falls red wine which i was surprised about, the staff cannot do enough for you and always with a smile we honestly did not have any complaints about anything they really go that extra mile for you, weather was fantastic only had one cloudy day and the sun still got through, outside the hotel there is a new complex called soho square which is part of the savoy next door and its lovely, shops, restaurants, seating areas, waterfalls and even a british pub showing sky sports called the queen vic!!
I will definatily be returning to this hotel and i never normally go to the same hotel twice! but this is certainly worth a second visit

Oasis Canoa Hotel - Bayahibe - Dominincan Republic - Caribbean

My familly which included 3 adults and 2 children booked all inclusive at this hotel. The hotel was a disgrace. The rooms were old and not very clean to say the least. The fridge rattled all night so we couldnt sleep. The food was always covered in flies so we couldnt eat any of it. There was no entertainment at all were there should have been. The staff couldnt speak a word of English so when we complained they couldnt understand us and the rep didnt seem to care.
Its the worst hotel we have even been in and we advise that you do not go.

Occidental Grand Fuerteventura Hotel - Jandia - Fuerteventura

Arrival at the reception:passports, wrist bands, security card to open your room door which you have to sign for, then told to go your block we were given a map,but no help with the luggage, the swipe card for the door was faulty so after six attempts it let us in(it was hit & miss all the time we were there) the hotel was informed but nothing was done ,the bathroom door was locked/seized poor maintenance, the bath was corroded with red rusty spots all over it, the shower gel &soap were old not labeled the curtain was old and of no use to keep water within the bath area.
the headboard to the beds was hanging off the wall.
the bed linen was threadbare ,had to ask for blankets.
the outside furniture had not been cleaned the so called flower boxes without flowers in were full of cigarette ends we counted 200..this room had not been prepared for use.
hotel food all tasted the same wether it be fish, meat, pasta ,soup or even breakfast cereals, the coffee machines were dirty and the coffee tasted appalling, the fruit juice machines were watered down to the extent that you mostly got water, the plates /cutlery had unwashed food on it, we could not go to other retaurants on the complex as they were closed.
We have been going to Fuerteventura for 20yrs so we know the location well but the hotel was a first and last for us.the hotel staff were fed up to say the least appathy was apparent probably because they were short staff plus they went off duty to have their own xmas parties twice so it closed for the punters..
Entertainment virtually none existant for adults that is plus the 2 acts we saw were very poor, the fun club team who organised it all were only there for the children, the adult entertainment was disco in the bar or keyboard in the lobby and that was hit and miss, i would not visit this hotel again.

Highland Beach Resort - Candolim
- Goa

Stayed in this hotel on recomendation. the rooms was tidy and clean but the beds are rock hard. i resorted to taking the cushions off the setees and putting them along the length of the bed and sleeping on them.

The room boys even made the bed up with these under the bed sheet (top lads)the breakfast was eggs any way you wanted them or for a supplement bacon /beans etc could be purchased we didnt have any evening meals in the hotel but had snacks in the afternoon by the pool waiter service was good always polite.

The hotel is situated down a side road (150 mts)just off the main road (where all the restaurants are)and about a 10 min walk to the beach we didnt stay in for a full evenings entertainment but from what we saw it was pretty dire they sounded like a bad kareoke turn,

The hotel had a rep virtually on site all the time and was really good she always said good morn and made a point of seeing if all was ok the staff were all really good till the day of departure when there was a mix up with the payment of some compo regaurding delays we were allowed 500 rp to spend on a meal and because the fax hadnt got through the hotel manager wanted us to all wait till it was sorted (even if it meant missing flights) he was very abusive and demeaning to the rep which was out of order all other staff scored 5 he got 1

Paraiso Floral Hotel - Playa Paraiso - Tenerife

did not originally book this hotel but moved by thompsons prior to departure, were informed that the two fiesta hotels are about to be used for spanish pensioners, this would appear to have already happened at the sister hotel in this resort.the hotel gives the appearance of been run down and that is exactly what it is, the rooms and all areas of the hotel are very shabby, most of the bar staff are rude and a smile would crack their face, this is very evident with the barman at the lido, his whole manner to everyone except the spanish was disgusting, someone should tell the staff you wont get any tips if you dont supply a service, rooms not swept or mopped, bed linen not changed all week, food average to say the least, pork seems to be a favorite, new years eve gala dinner ajoke, huge ques for dinner and not enough seats in the concert room for everyone, appears to be running itself down.

Blau Hotel - Varadero - Cuba - Caribbean

We were looking forward to staying at this hotel as we had read other reports which were most favorable, it did not disapoint. The hotel looks an imposing concrete structure from the approach, but the moment you cross the threshold it is a modern well appointed building. From the moment we booked in we were treated very well, all the staff, although some times very busy in the bars, were more than pleasant and always had a smile and time for a few words. The hotel was spotless and staff were cleaning all the time, no tables with empty glasses or full ashtrays. The maid, Betty, was great and made the holiday even better with her standard of cleaning.
The food was of excellent standard, probabily the best that I have had on holiday, although I was told that the hurricanes had ment that some items were in short supply and that the choice was not as extensive as normal.
The beach, although a little narrow, was excelent with a beach bar and sunloungers and permanent umbrellas, the sea was warm shallow for some distance, and although just at the end of the hurricane season for most of the time calm.
I did find the evening entertainment poor, this might have been because it seemed to start latter than published and then consist the compaire explaining the rules of some game on the stage in about 5 languages. Others did seem to enjoy it but it was not my sytle.
If i went to Cuba again, I would definiately book this hotel again. A most wonderful holiday.
