There is nothing in the resort of Taba, and this hotel in particular is in the middle of nowhere, with just waste ground around it. Nearest hotel is a 5 mins drive.

The hotel led right onto a stretch of very clean, man-made beach with the coral reef only a few yards from the edge of the sea. As no-one is allowed to walk on the coral, there is a jetty (and further on, a platform) via which it is easy to enter the sea. The snorkelling was brilliant, especially during the first week when the sea was like a millpond. The clarity of the water, the coral and the variety of fish life was superb and compared favourably with the Great Barrier Reef in Australia - yes, it was that good! Equipment for snorkelling can be hired.

Apart from the Marriot and the Sofitel hotels along the beach and the Esso garage about a mile and a half up to the main road (probably not worth the effort!), there are few places to walk to - the three hotels give the impression of being in the middle of the desert!

We went on the 2-day trip to Cairo - we thought that going to Egypt and not seeing the pyramids was like going to Paris and not seeing the Eiffel Tower! It was a long, long, journey - around 5 to 6 boring hours of unscenic driving across the Sinai desert in an oldish minibus before reaching the outskirts of the city. Being so early in the morning (we had a 4.30am start),the border crossing was fairly painless. There were only six of us on the trip accompanied by a guide, two tourist police (with guns) and two drivers. However, it was worthwhile but not to be repeated. We visited the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, the Pyramids and Sphinx, a papyrus factory and perfumery as well as the obligatory Bazaar.

We stayed here in September 2003. We wnt went with an open mind and were very impressed. We were greated at passport control by a peltours rep who took care of everything. When we got to the hotel we were given a drink and then allowed to freshen up in our rooms before dinner.

The hotel reception is stunning, the rooms are excellent, spacious and clean. We could see the sea and the mountains from our balcony. I would rate the room 10 out of 10 it really was that good.

The staff were very pleasnt and helpful, the food was served in a buffer style in the main restuarant (altough there were three others to choose from), the food was good but not superb, it didnt always taste that fresh.

The views, especially at night time were breathtaking.
The beach was very secluded (the hotel has its own 1/2 mile stretch) and the water was crystal clear. There was evening entertainment within the resort.

There was a near by watersports centre which was very good and there was a chance to go to cairo but it was a seven hour bus trip each way so we gave it a miss.

The only problem that i saw with this resort was that apart from the resort there was not much else. You could not pop to the nearest town very easily and you did not get a chance to absorb the local culture.

Would i go back again? yes i would, i was very impressed

There is no resort as such - just the stretch of beach that all of the hotels lead to. Each hotel has its own area, but you can freely wander to the others. The area by the Hyatt is clean and well maintained. The jetty leads out over the coral reef to some fantastic snorkelling, I was amazed at what you could see considering the ease of access. Equipment can be hired, but bring your own - it's more cost effective if you go in as many times as we did. There is a watersports centre a short minbus journey away which offers quite a selection of activities, but nothing else here - which is actually one of its attractions! The tour operators offer a variety of days out. We did the day trips to Cairo and Petra - not cheap, long hot and tiring, but well worth the effort. We had no problem amusing ourselves for a week and could have quite happily stayed for another. This was because we we prepared to pay the extra to do some of the trips offered - if you don't intend to stray away from the hotel for the whole of your holiday then you could get bored - I guess it all boils down to individual taste, but I would not hesitate to recommend this resort and would certaining consider going back again.

Marriott at Taba Heights is an excellent place to go to. As others have said before me, the hotel is superb. I personally had no complaints whatsoever! The treatment you get is trully five star It is worth a visit. If you want to relax in a secluded area, Taba heights is the place to be, with beautiful mountain ranges and sea views. Food was good, the staff were superb, they always wore a smile, never did i see any glumy face, they are very helpful and polite. I would DEFINATELY visit Marriott again!!

The resort cleanliness was in general quite good, ecept for the pool which was at times filthy - slime on the sides and human waste in it at one point. This was reported.

Resort entertainment was ok, the people concerned tried very hard to involve people and some of the activities on offer were real good. Pool aerobics.

The beach was hard and rocky it was almost impossible to access the sea without having reef shoes on or doing a balancing act along the floating jetty, which was fun. Snorkling and diving were fantastic.

The resort is still growing and developing, therefore it is still very limited and isolated. ther is a shopping centre building ready for use with no-one in it jet this will help greatly when up and running. The location is amazing and well worth seeing.

Improvements could be made by offering more activities on the beach like pedaloes etc and more shops to ensure fair prices.

We wanted a relaxing get away this year and we got it, perhaps too much isolation for us but overall very enjoyable

Taba Heights has nothing yet apart from the 3 hotels, a forth one coming (Intercontinental) and a watersports centre, the Red Sea Waterworld. A golf course is in the process.

My husband did not like it very much due to the fact there was limited interactions with the Egyptian culture and its people. Furthermore, the price of the watersports are expensive compared to other places such as Nuweiba and Dahab due to the lack of competition.

Me, on the other hand, loved it very much. The views were breathtaking. Mountains, the bluest sea and sand. The temperature was hot, about 44C when we were there, but the constant breeze made it bearable.

The underwater scenery was excellent as well. It upsets me seeing people touching the corals as this will kill them and thus destroying the beauty they present. We saw a turtle, lion fishes, octopus and many more beautiful creatures.

We utilised the Waterworld a lot as we did our PADI Open Water Course there. The classroom was air conditioned and confined water skills were done in the sea itself. We got the nicest instructor, a South African called Malen. The lunch at the centre was excellent as well. They are also cheaper than at the hotels. Our favourites were chesse sambousek and fried calamari, served with Egyptian mayonnaise, very eggy.

The resort location however made it quite hard to go anywhere. However, we made the effort to go to Cairo by ourselves rather than following the excursions. The excursion to Cairo is very pricey and we also liked to take our own time there. We asked around and successfully caught a bus to and from Cairo. The hotel staff are happy to help if you are prepared to go through the hassle. There is also a bus to Nuweiba. We caught the bus from Taba Bus Station. The bus ticket to Cairo was LE55 each we equals to about

There is nothing to do in Taba excet swim and sunbathe. I repeat!! Do not go unless you are happy to do just that.

I love snorkelling and also did the introductory dive, both of which were excellant. I couldn't believe how many fish I saw inc scorpion fish, sea snakes, lion fish, moray eels. and no jellyfish which is always a bonus. oh, and lots of nemos. the first time i found him was funny, apprently the second third and fourth was just boring!

On the diving lesson I learnt that there are 'invisble' planktun in the sea there which give tiny little stings (harmless and only momentary) which cleared up numerous arguments of me saying i'd been stung only to look down and find no marks and nothing in the water!

Best snorkelling is off of the jetty at the Hyatt, although about 150 meters off of the Marriott is a coral formation with the resident moray eels.

jelly shoes / plimsolls are essential to get into the sea

The resort is neat and clean with beautiful crystal clean sea. The resort is being developed at present and should have good facilities in a few years time.

A word about the water world centre at the resort. I found that bookings for water sports are cancelled very often. No notice or information is provided and it is only once you get to the centre that you are told that the booking has been cancelled. This can be frustating as it takes an hour to travel to and fro from the hotel to the centre.

There is nothing in this resort-it is like one big building site!We thought this would not matter as we wanted a complete rest however by the end of the week you are craving for something to do.If you stay here you need a hotel that has a lot of facilities and a lot of books to read! We have stayed at both Taba and Sharm El Sheik and Sharm is definately the better of the two resorts for both hotels and things to do.

There is absolutely nothing at Taba Heights apart from 3 hotels and the dive centre. There are loads of plans for development e.g. more hotels, golf course, shops etc.. but they will not be there for a while. All of the hotels are linked by a long, sandy, beach so you can have a nosey at each. The Hyatt is definitely the best! A bus links the hotels to the dive centre, but be warned these buses aren't that frequent so my husbands 45 minute check dive turned into a 5 hour outing! I'm sure this will improve!

Taba Heights is obviously not finished but this didn't effect our stay at all. All of the hotel rooms seam to face the Sea and all the work, to other hotels and the golf course, where all going on behind the hotels some distance away. There are no shops in Taba Height just the ones at the hotel's. This didn't spoil our holiday what so ever we didn't even notice the work going on until we used the bus to take us to water world.

There is not much here to do outside of the hotel . The snorkeling more than made up for this.

The beach is man made and access to the water is via a jetty. The sea is warm, clear and full of fish. While we were there turtles and dolphins were seen.

I would most certainly return as there are lots more trips to do. We spent two days in Cairo and went to Isreal. The border crossings were a bit of a pain!

We are already looking to book for next year.

Not a lot in the resort itself to like or dislike so nothing much to say really but the beach was lovely and clean and the view of the mountains quite awesome!

Driving through the desert and mountains to the Monastery/Nuweiba/Dahab was certainly different and very biblical.

Mount Sinai, the site of the Burning Bush, the Bedouins...... almost the stuff of a parallel historical universe!

Loved it although maybe on the tours there could have been more time in the various places.

The resort was clean, although we did have a plague of locusts and it took them a bit too long to clean the squashed ones off the paths.

The full Egyptian show in the Grotto is definitely worth watching, and would recommend getting up and trying belly dancing. I liked it that much I'm joining a class in the UK, so next time I go away I can do it properly!

The beach is ok, very stony by the sea.

Would go back to Taba.

The coral is AMAZING! Just gorgeous! Go snorkelling and diving if you can! There is an abundance of beautiful and very cute fish!

The Taba resort area is still VERY underdeveloped, the Hyatt, Marriott or Sofitel would be the best places to stay as these hotels are grouped together and you can walk to them there is a casino there too.

Bit pricey too as there is very little competition for anything, do a trip to Eilat for shopping.

Taba Heights is still a developing 'resort' and is barely a resort at this time. It consists of 3 5* hotels - the Marriott, the Sofitel and the Hyatt. A new 18 hole golf course is being constructed behind the hotels and construction work does not in any way affect the enjoyment of the Sofitel which is where we stayed.

Taba Heights appeared to be a clean place with no real litter noticed. We visited in April and our first few days were quite windy although hot. The singer in our hotel advised that this was normal and was seasonal. The winds dropped off after a couple of days.

There is no entertainment other than that in the hotels. I did not visit the Marriot or Hyatt in the evenings so cannot comment on their entertainment but the evening entertainment in the Sofitel was poor.

The beach was good - a little stoney on entering the water so the children were not in and out of the sea as much as we thought they may be but past the stoney area was sandy with excellent coral reef and wonderful fish to see when snorkelling.

A coutesy but called at our hotel hourly taking us to Water World which is only a 10 minute journey away and offers scuba diving courses and glass bottomed boat trips. There are sunbeds there and a nice beach bar serving good food. It is a nice and easy place to visit and spend a day.

I would possibly visit this resort again.

I would not recommend the Fun Day to Eilat. This was a bit long drawn out. The first part of the day was nice, you go to the aqua world in Eilat, which is nice and then you go on the the Dolphin sanctuary. This is nice also, apart from being there for about 2 and a half hours, which is too long if you are not swimming with the dolphins because apart from the beach there is nothing else to do. The final part of the day is spending 3 hours in Eilat. Well considering this is just a shopping centre like Lakeside, it is way too long. An hour would have been ampled. It is also a bit over priced also.

When I first arrived in Taba I was not impressed with the location as it looked like a building site but when I approched my hotel I was badly mistaken.

There wasnt much to do around the hotel but what was in the hotel kept us all occupied, there was snorkling, belly dancing classes 5*, water polo and many more activies,
the night life was excellent as you could go on dancing throughout the night untill the early hours of the morning, the karaoka was my favorite and the shows were very interesting to watch.

I recommend this holiday for people that want fun and lively nightlife and relaxing in the daytime on the beach or poolsides.
I am planning a holiday this year at this hotel as I had an amazing time.

What resort? The hotel was in the middle of nowhere, either side of the beach compound (with guards) there were building sites and if you went for a stroll down the main drive there was an armed guard.

The beach was concrete with a bit of sand sprinkled on top - we used the pool all week.

It was like a prison, there really is no other way to describe it.

Resort outside the hotel, what we saw of it, was still in early stages of building the golf course, just a few hotels, linked by roads and if you wish to visit them a free shuttle bus going around the resort.

Not much at all to do outside the hotels, and many people moan about the lack of shopping, although we did find some shops, behind the el wakeda (three corners) they go unnoticed as you cant see them from the road, but theres a pharmacy and some souvernir shops up there all offering a good cheap price.

Get to the Three Corners say to the security guard on the gate, shopping, and then he will direct you, it's basically round the back of the hotel but if you ask he will point you in the right direction and you won't get too lost!

If you look to the right hand side when you come into a square, you should see the pharmacy sign and there is one beduoin tent in the square aswell.

Water world on the beach is fantastic, you can scuba dive, or go para gliding or just have a snack on the beech it is very clean and the sea water is crystal clear and very warm, the swimming pool is very warm and more quiet then the hotel pool.

Upon arrival my first thoughts were what the hell have i done.

On the way to the hotel you have to go through the Taba border which is full of 10 year olds with automatic machine guns which all ogled at my Mrs.

On arriving at the hotel the staff were ignorant, rude and unhelpful.
The room was ok but not cleaned on a regular basis.

The food was damn right discrassful and we ate nothing all week.

we both had diariah and sickness all week.

We took a trip to Isreal for the day to swim with the dolphins this was booked through Libra and although extremly expensive was the highlight of the holiday. Although crossing the border is a nightmare.

I will never ever use a radisson again let alone the poxy holiday company. Egypt is dirty.

Taba Heights is a new up & coming resort & there is very little to do outside of the hotel. There are, at present, only 4 hotels in Taba Heights and there is a courtesy bus which does the circuit. I was told that there are plans for another 20 hotels, a nightclub & loads of restaurants in the next 18 months but we were not at all affected by any building works. We took an excursion to The Blue Hole & Dahab which included a jeep ride with a very entertaining driver who had us singing egyptian songs along the way & a camel ride to a beach where we did some amazing snorkelling (a must, followed by lunch in a lovely hotel & then shopping in Dahab town. If anyone is worried about the bombings, there is no need to worry. There are security gaurds & checkpoints everywhere, On our day out we were discreetly escorted by an armed gaurd who even came shopping with us to look out for us.

This is the only hotel in this resort for about two miles, but the grounds and location were wonderful.

The entertainment was poor, the resident singers were kareoke standard, but who cares!!!

The beach was beautiful, with plenty of beds, but take note ogf the flags if snorkelling because in the winter, the currents can change.

Yes, we would visit this resort and hotel again. Go for it!

Taba isn't a resort as such, although the hotel does have shops. It is desert and mountains which are breathtaking. The beach was lovely, soft sand, plenty of sun beds and wind breakers. The entertainment is virtually non existant, but it didn't matter at all.
Would I visit this resort again - you bet Egypt I love it I'm totally hooked!.

Generally stony beach with a layer of sand, about 400 metres long; only two routes into the sea from the beach and you needed shoes because of the rocks. You could get in for a swim via the floating pontoon, very tricky in the prevailing high winds however. The hotel is isolated with 3 half finished but apparently derelict hotels as its neighbours. Nothing else within walking distance.Very quiet with no plane or vehicle noise.

The whole area was very sparse, but lots of people were working on the land. Watering and moving stones from A to B.

We went to the Waterworld Site, and went on the glass bottomed boat. very good value, the beach was very clean, there were 2 men clearing the beach of stones (from the waterline) all day from dawn to dusk, to make it smoother for you to go into the water.

Water was very shallow. We went on the Waterworld shuttle, which visited several hotels. all looked very nice and clean. but that was all there was. Large hotels, beach, and the mountains.

For a restful holiday, I would recommend it. There wasn't much in the way of entertainment, a couple of bars, and a belly dancing night.

Beach and resort v. clean with nice flowers/ foliage creating a pleasant ambience.

Beach small-ish but perfectly adequate - get there to secure a pitch early though as you'll need shade at some point. Wonderful array of fish and sealife more than makes up for size and quality.

Beach bar good, with waiter service.

On base, we knew about the entertainment or lack of it before we arrived, although most nights we were in bed by 10pm after a hard days sunbathing. One night there was an egyptian trio playing native music which was excellent, better than the Isrealli easter sunday festival which occurred inside (whats with all the handclapping?).

The beach is excellent, very well kept with plenty of sunbeds and windbreaks available, it also has its own beach bar which is well frequented.

Would we go back?, yes definately

This a very quiet location, so if you are looking for good lively nightlife, this is not the place for you. If a quiet relaxing lazy holiday is what you're after, then this is perfect.

The entertainment at the hotel is limited, but not being a fan of hotel entertainment, this did not bother me at all.

When I went, it was mainly couples, very few families. and a lot of single female travellers who obviously felt completely at ease here.

There are 3 hotels on the beach front and I would say the Hyatt has the best location and beach facilities.

Snorkelling is a must! There are 2 piers from which you can enter the sea and the vast array of fish is quite spectacular. You do need to have beach shoes as there is a coral reef right along and you can only enter the water at certain points. I would also advise you to buy a snorkel in England as the prices for these can be quite expensive at the resort.

I would definitely return to the Hyatt at Taba for a relaxing week in the sun.

Very good place to learn to dive as you would be able to take you time, definatly do not recommend if you are experienced scuba divers as we found out it is very very tame, dived comfotably in a 10 mm suit not that warm!

Hmmm, the resort is very quiet and still very much in its developmental stages. The resort is centred around the 5 hotels really and there is nothing much else to do after that. The views are stunning as the resort is set at the bottom of the mountains. There is much building work going on but despite this, the resort is very clean. We were on a diving holiday and so left the resort to go to sea, however if you were not doing something watersports based, i think you might struggle for entertainment. There is a bar Tandoori which is english based and shows the football from Sky Sports and also dishes up that traditional english food the curry! There is a mexican place next door to that called el fuego. We ate there, but truthfully it was a little disappointing. There is a bar called The Flying Carpet, that is ok and there is a shooping centre consisting of a market and about 5 shops, of which 4 were never open! Most of the entertainment is hotel based, but you can visit all the other hotels in the resort. The beaches were spot on, very clean, very spacious and every hotel had it's own private jetty. There is the waterworld centre where we spent much time but if you are not into scuba diving or snorkelling, they also do parascending ( which we tried and was brill) and also the crazy banana and crazy doughnut, waterskiing, wakeboarding etc. Most definitely, i would visit this resort again as i am pretty sure it can only get better...

I can not fault the resort or beach for cleanliness. We visited the beach once, its some way from the hotel, but had a bar and swimming pool, as well as sun beds and towels that are free. I would be interested to visit Tabba again in a few years, its only been there for a short while, there are lots of buildings going up, with lots of room for development all over Tabba. Behind Three Corners there is a shopping street which has loads of building still unoccupied, I can see that given a few years this will be a busy resort. At present if you want to chill this is an excelent resort to do it in.

This was our first attempt at snorkelling in the sea and I had bought some snorkelling gear to take with me and try it out. The walk along the jetty is very nice and you can see the fish swimming around as you walk along. Sometimes there was a large turqoise/green Parrot fish swimming in the shallow area of the beach and you could see it very clearly, what a beautiful sight. The jetty can get quite busy and you have to take your turn to climb down the ladder to get in to the sea. When you actually got in the sea it was very calm and warm and the fish that were swimming just around the jetty ladders and rocks were superb! My initial thought was that I would have to go quite far out away from the beach to see the fish but I was totally wrong, they are everywhere. On my first swim I saw a 5ft long Cornet fish or Trumpet fish ( not sure ) and also a resident Lion fish that stayed just under the rocks at the jetty. There are shoals of small fish ( 2 inches ) swimming past you and just dissappear as you get closer, also plenty of other types ranging from about 3 inches to 30 inches. Not to mention the various types of Parrot fish which have the most varied colours I have ever seen. All in all it was a brilliant experience and one that my partner enjoyed as well. This for us really made the holiday worth while. So if you are planning on going snorkelling take an underwater digital camera with you, you wont regret it.
One thing that I would suggest adding to the hotel if I were one of the management team is the possibility to make small or large donations to support the upkeep of the beaches and jetties etc... as a return for being able to view the many different types of fish. Some people may think that this should not be charged for but I would willingly make a contribution as long as the money was used for the upkeep of the beaches and to protect the welfare of the fish etc...
we did not go on any trips as the heat would have been too much really, the only other place we went to was the El Wakala 3 corners hotel which was quite nice and there is also a few shops and pubs to view. We went into the Pub Tandoori on Sinday because they show live Premier league football on large plasma screens. We had a meal which was nice and fairly cheap as well. We had Chicken Tikka x2, a naan bread and some salad, together with four beers and four soft drinks it came to about

Taba Heights is a purpose built resort of about 5/6 hotels in a secured area around a golf course. There are free buses which go round the resort and to the marina every 15 minutes or so and you can get on and off at any point. Most useful for getting to the few shops by the Three Corners Hotel. The beach at the Marriott is sandy with well spaced out beds and there were always plenty available. Sea shallow out to coral reefs with lots of fish to see. Take swimming shoes as there are a few pebbles to cross to get into the sea. We also did some diving with Red Sea World, but as they are the only diving centre in the area, they have lots of add ons, so check what is included in the prices. They also seem to go to the nearest sites so you could find you are repeating dives from the previous day. If you hire their equipment check it very carefully as it isn't the best I've used!

The resort is small and young in its development. Therefore, there are limited resources, but what there is, is good! 5/6 hotels with a choice of restaurants, so you could dine around if you so wanted, lovely beach with crystal clear water and long walkways out ideal for snorkelling or swimming. There is also a Waterworld where you can book in for activities such as parasailing (which we did - great value and highly recommended!), scuba diving (PADI training available) and windsurfing amoungst others.
There are excursions available - like a trip over to Petra or flying to Cairo - I am sure the reps will let you know about all these. We fancy doing the quad biking next time!
Lastly, a fantastic and huge 18 hole golf course which is immaculately kept. We didnt play but we saw quite a few people playing and it looked great!
All in all, a very promising resort. No hassle at all from anyone trying to sell you anything, no commercialism or 'british pubs' - just a lovely quiet peaceful and relaxing location with stunning views - if thats what you are after, you wont be dissappointed with Taba Heights!

The resort is quite a long bus journey from the airport and is miles from anywhere. All the buses had to travel in convoy with an escort which made me a tad uneasy. The nearest hospital is in Israel if anything goes wrong as it did for a couple of holiday goers. One was ambulanced to the border where it was met by an Isreali ambulance and the person then treated in Eilat Hospital. After treatment the only way back was via taxi and the patient was made to walk a considerable distance accross no mans land in extreme heat as the taxi wasnt allowed through the checkpoint. An expensive and nasty business.
