The beach is clean and very typical of a Greek Island. The sand is white and the sea is very blue!!!

| SABRINA LANGRIDGE Posted this report and said: I have literally returned from Skiathos within the last 24 hours. The holiday was a wonderful experience.
The island of Skiathos closes down for the winter season mid October, so my travelling at the end of September was a very "laid back" time to go. The whole island is just so delightful, very, very pretty.
Go into the capital Skiathos Town, where you will find a very cosmopolitan atmosphere. Wonderful yachts moored at the harbour, where you will find lovely cafes and Tavernas right on the quayside. Just sit there with a drink or eat a meal and watch the world go by! Bliss!
I cannot recommend this island highly enough. Do go!
Take a trip by boat around this small island, and visit wonderful beaches only accessable by boat. |

Sitting around a lovely harbour with plenty of choices of bars and the side steets have lively bars. So many beaches and all great and clean, best beaches at the bottom of the island. Most have beach tavernas for that much needed cool beer! Would definately return |

Travel on the local bus and visit different beaches everyday, nearly every stop has a beach, koukanaries worth a visit but found other beaches just as nice( achlaides, kolios), skiathos town is lovely to explore the narrow alley ways, the windmill restaurant is a must for a real treat and the views(booking a must).
Will visit skiathos again soon I hope. |

The beaches are some of the best in Europe but be aware that the appraches may be littered by tourists.
We have visited many times and intend to go back. |

M&H rated Skiathos Town as follows:| Cleanliness | | | Resort Entertainment | | | Beach
| M&H Posted this report and said: Skiathos Town is an excellent base for the whole island of Skiathos. The town is clean, numerous tavernas & shops. With the old and new harbour always plenty of activity with people, sailing boats, ferries etc. Transport around the island is no problem bus every 20 mins, water taxi to 3 nearby beaches 1-50 or 2 euros, boat trips round the island stopping off for swimming or sightseeing, and full day boat trips to Skopelos & Alonnisos, well worth 20 euros, if only to watch the dolphins. The resort itself is the entertainment. Ate at a different place every night, from harbour front to 3 streets back not one bad meal & good house wine. 25 to 40 euros 2 courses & litre of wine for 2 people, and take as long as you want.We felt totally safe and comfortable in Skiathos can't wait to get back. |

P and S rated Skiathos Town as follows:| Cleanliness | | | Resort Entertainment | | | Beach
| P and S Posted this report and said: This was our first visit to Greece. We chose Skiathos as we wanted a scenic island where we could relax for a week in September on picturesque beaches. We were not disappointed, and look forward to returning one day. The options seemed to be (1) stay in Skiathos Town and travel out to the beaches during the day, or (2) stay in one of the beach resorts and travel into town at night for the bars and restaurants. We chose the former, and used the excellent bus service to travel to the beaches, Banana being our favourite. We experienced a few showers and the odd thunderstorm, which are to be expected at the end of September. However, we still managed to enjoy the beach, get a tan, and swim in the sea most days.
Skiathos Town is a charming place with an attractive harbour area and narrow pedestrianised streets. It felt very safe, and everyone was polite and helpful. Our favourite restaurants were Dionysus and Asprolithos. The food and service were excellent in both, and the prices very reasonable.

If you are in the acropolis (Old town)the walk back on the cobbles from the tavernas will make you fit by the end of the holiday. Nearest bus stop (4) and beach (Megali Amos)are 10 minute walk away.

Nectar & Ambrose very accommodating. ( Opened specially in the afternoon for my wedding reception - at one day notice!)
Easy access to Skiathos Town. Bus frequent, but often crowded. Taxi inexpensive and best option.
Good central location for best of both beach and nightlife. |

| Mama & Bob Posted this report and said: We hired a Suzuki Jimny to get to the out of reach places, from a friendly guy Tommy at Mamamaras Tours Skiathos Town car hire near Bus stop No 1 the New Port of Skiathos. The main tarmac road is 14 miles long and runs from Skiathos Town to Koukanaris and has 26 bus stops. The rest is just one big adventure! Get a free map from Skiathos town and start exploring don't forget to explore the old port/town you'll get lost. Taverna Portabello (in town)do a mega breakfast, eat all you want from 8.30 till 12.30 for just 7 Euros (not sure if its like that all season though). Get a boat trip from the old port at Skiathos to take you around the outside of the island, beeeautiful! when the water is calm. Seen the Dolphinos. How clear is that sea?! Last thoughts... we'd go there again tomorrow if it were possible. |

Sue Hitchcock rated Skiathos Town as follows:| Cleanliness | | | Resort Entertainment | | | Beach
| Sue Hitchcock Posted this report and said: Skiathos town is lovely. The harbour is great and lined with some nice tavernas and bars. Not rowdy at all and the old town is pleasant to walk through, lots of twisty, cobbly streets. Sheer pleasure to be in. 2005 we even saw the arrival of Posh and Becks to one of the yachts. Lots of show biz people stay there on their luxury yachts, some massive ones some owned by Greek tycoons. Bus rides or water taxi's will take you to the numerous beaches. |

Linda and Geoff rated Skiathos Town as follows:| Cleanliness | | | Resort Entertainment | | | Beach
| Linda and Geoff Posted this report and said: The resort of Kolios is small, it was very quiet when we were there, with not a lot going on, some of the hotels and apartments were still closed. It was very handy being by bus stop 13, but because we went early in the season the buses were running to a winter timetable, but there is a very good taxi service which cost us 4 euros to Skiathos Town and 5 euros to Koukanaries Beach. If you stand at the bus stop the taxis just pull up and say 'special price!' The beach at Vromolinos and Kolios were a short walk away about 10 mins but no facilities early season. There is a nice walk around Kanapitsa peninsula by bus stop 12 about a 2 hour walk. The resort is approximately half way between Skiathos town and Koukanaries, making it convenient to visit anywhere on the island. We hired a jeep for 3 days, but wouldn't think this necessay in the main season when the buses and running more regularly. We would visit this resort again, this was our second visit to Skiathos. |

There are so many beaches to visit around the island. We hired a 600cc crosser motorbike for the week costing just over |

Aish rated Skiathos Town as follows:| Cleanliness | | | Resort Entertainment | | | Beach
| Aish Posted this report and said: Skiathos Town is gorgeous. Loads of shops, restaurants and bars. One of the classier Greek islands and caters for all ages nightlife-wise. Lovely harbour for walks and there's the forest walk also, at the other end of town. Will be back for sure. Having been to more than a dozen Greek islands so far and enjoyed them all I'd certainly recommend Skiathos for a first time Greek island goer and for those who did the usual island hopping of the more basic islands in their youth Skiathos is the next step up. |

Polly rated Skiathos Town as follows:| Cleanliness | | | Resort Entertainment | | | Beach
| Polly Posted this report and said: We absolutely loved Skiathos, it was our second visit to the island. The previous time we stayed in Kolios and much preferred to stay in the town and catch the bus out to different beaches each morning, rather than stay out of town and try to catch the bus in for the evening.
The only downside we could say about the town is the motorbikes/scooters that scoot up and down the alleyways.
We stayed close to the top of Papadiamantis Street so it was very convenient for bars and restaurants as well as bus stop no 4 to get to the beaches along the coast.
We ate at some really good restaurants, including:
Asprolithos |
