I was very impressed with the design of the hotel, the room was big and spacious, comfortable beds, very clean, and the en-suite shower was excellent ( powerful and constant hot water supply) . The hotel is in a quiet location which is ideal as it is a short walk to the beach and also a short walk to the main road where you can access a whole variety of shops including a large Western style supermarket called Newtons where are the prices (which are fair) are marked , a range of restaurants including my favourite vegetarian one (Anands) and a variety of night life. There is a large swimming pool and also a well designed outdoor area by the pool , part of which has shade covering , tables and chairs and a outdoor bar where I relaxed having KingFisher larger and the potent local brew Fenny (40% alcohol). There is a large area by the pool which is ideal for sunbathing. I also enjoyed sitting on the balcony outside my room having tea and toast in the early morning and also having relaxing drinks in the evening. The hotel has a very large flat area on top which is ideal for sunbathing and also for drying out clothes as I was able to make most use of the very long washing line up there.Last, but not least I have to mention the charming proprietor Lorraine who makes sure the room is spotless, she also saved me a load of money as she advised me on where to go to do my shopping, and all the local info, including her local taxi driver contact who was considerably cheaper than others. As she is from the UK it was like having a friend away from home and she made sure both myself and my daughter (who did not want to leave Goa) and myself enjoyed our holiday. My daughter absolutely adored her dogs Jazz and Holly and both of us can't wait to go and stay at the hotel again.

| said: Returned once again to this little guest house and enjoyed a quiet and relaxing time by the pool! Everything pretty much as before although a new small outside toilet and shower block has been built for the use of pool users and outside guests coming for food and drinks. The owner met me at Dablim with my regular taxi driver which was a fantastic surprise being that it was silly o'clock in the morning! Pool, garden and rooms remain the same - all areas nicely presented and clean. Only other change noticed is an area opposite the Alvares which was being cleared for the erection of a new restaurant - I will be returning to the Alvares as soon as I possibly can - which I hope won't be too long as I can't wait!!!!!!!!

| said: Returned again to this lovely guest house this time with several friends. Nice garden, sit out area and pool and everywhere was clean and to a high standard. Yet again nothing was too much trouble and the owner and her staff worked hard to make sure we had whatever we needed. We were lucky in that we took the whole place over and had it all to ourselves - more like having our own villa! 5 minutes walk to the beach, 10 minutes walk to Newtons, what more could you want - handy for everything!! Plan to return again in November.
All food that we had there was excellent including a buffet for 40+ people for my husbands 60th birthday celebration - fantastic!

| said: I booked this lovely little guest house independantly and I think it deserves a review. In a great (and quiet)position behind the Arabian Retreat and a short walk to the beach and to some good restaurants (nirvana, au reverie etc) also easy/quick access to the main Calangute/Candolim Road. The guest house is comfortable and clean and provided a portable TV and fridge. A big shower (wet room) and water was hot when needed (solar heated). Usual metal wardrobe with internal safety deposit box (you have the only key - so don't lose it)! Small balcony overlooking a lovely private garden with pool and covered sit out area for meals. Meals can be provided (tell the owner a day in advance what you want and when) and both Indian and English food can be catered for. Staff consisted of the pool man, gardener and the cleaner all of whom did a great job. The owner is lovely and within reason nothing is too much trouble for her. She is a British Goan and adopts British standards of cleanliness etc. The owner lives on site so if you need help with anything (my hairdryer packed up and she loaned me hers) - just ask. I can't praise this place too highly (or you'll all want to book)!!! She has 3 adorable dogs who are very friendly but if you are not a dog lover then this place won't be for you. It is a comfortable home from home and I am returning with family and friends in March 2009 - and we can't wait.
