stayed at pliska hotel for two weeks i am sad to say.
the hotel is basic but not too bad, staff were ok but hard to cmmunicate with.my husband and i are both in our early seventies plus my husband is in a wheelchair so it was very stressful as wherever we went was steep hills.the rep at the hotel was helpful in some cases.i am not a fussy person where food is concerned but i thought i was back in the war years,it was not anything to look forward to.after three days most people wanted to come home.i would not go to this hotel or the country again.sorry.

Found the staff to be friendly and helpful.

The hotel itself is very old fashioned. The beds alomost like caravan beds and the sheet your given is only of use if your under 4ft tall. Also never seen a bathroom like it. Prepare to sit on the toilet while having your shower. Plenty of hot water though.

Cleaning wasnt up to my standard but ok. Thought that the breakfast was great and constantly topped up. Great coffee and most mornings I had toast, boiled eggs(piping hot) and fruit.

The swimming pool with water slides was gone which is one of the reasons I booked the hotel. Very unhappy about that and annoyed I wasnt informed but we were able to use the pool behind the hotel which although was very german was ok, and we didnt have to pay anything.

Hotel was basic but clean...

Staff where unpleasant and unhelpful, cleaning staff where thieves......

Definitely would not return to this hotel. As said previous the slides are no longer there but still in 2006 brochures. As for the 2 star rating was most definitely over rated.... In saying that Bulgaria is a beautiful place and have already booked for next year but at a 4 star hotel this time

Breakfast was very poor. Everything seemed to be dished out in rations. Hotel room was clean, but old fashioned. It was right at the beach, however, the brochure shows you a waterpark with slides at the front. This is not the case, the waterpark has been taken away and replaced by foundation for 4 storey luxury apartments.

In the front garden you have bungie rides, kiddies slides and a bucking bull. To top it all, you have Macdonald right next door and this is open from 10a.m. until 0500 in the morning with music and party goers blairing all night. Once the noise stops you just get over to sleep and then the sun comes shining directly into the room as they do not have blackout curtains.

Although the staff were friendly this would not be enough to entice me back to this hotel. It had no pool or entertainment.

I will be writing to Balkan to tell them to get the brochure up to date and give a true picture of the hotel and immediate area surrounding it.

Stayed at the Pirin and I must say that this is the most disappointing hotel I've ever stayed in.

We booked a family room which consisted of a narrow main room where two mattresses were positioned on the floor for the children to sleep in!! and a seating area. There was a separate bedroom and a small bathroom.

I must say the cleanliness of the room generally left a lot to be desired probably not helped due to the age of the hotel and evident lack of refurbishment - looked like it hadn't been refurbished since the early 1970's. Bright yellow tatty curtains, peeling paint work, carpets on the floor were old, dirty and worn.

The balcony was dirty and unsafe, there was broken glass which wasn't cleaned during the two weeks we were there so I don't know how long it had been there for. Don't get me wrong I'm not fussy at all and tend to go for cheap and cheerful places to stay due to the fact that don't spend a lot of time in the room but this was a joke, the whole place was rather depressing and not cheap either.

You pay as much to stay at the Pirin as other better hotels in the resort. It was in a fantastic position though, right onthe beach, with great sea views, and we loved using the pool opposite (although I believe this is no longer there).

The staff were very unfriendly, the only time they offered any assistance was when we were leaving and offered to help with our suitcases (hoping for a tip probably).

Breakfast was okay but again the restuarant was not very clean, food under tables were there the whole two weeks we stayed there. There was a very small bar area which opened in the eveining (the staff in there were friendly, they worked in the indian restaurant which opened in the evening and was good) but nothing for children to do.

Even though the hotel was bad we still had a good time in the resort and I suppose it has been said before but do not book a hotel less than 3*, in Bulgaria anything less is substandard and in my opinion Balkan Holidays should not be offering this type of accommodation any longer, especially for the price you are expected to pay for it.
