My wife and I and our two Children aged 5 and 3 went to this hotel for the second year in a row.

We enjoyed it and would visit again.

The staff are excellent and cant do enough for you.
The hotel has expanded since last year and is now called the Club Caleta Dorado.

Value for Money is good with plenty to do for the Kids
There is an on site Kids Club which is really well run and supervised, and you feel like the reps take and genuine interest in your children.

We had no problems with security or break ins in fact the place has a very friendly atmosphere, and no upset stomachs.

The hotel also now has an onsite Chinese and Mediteranian restaurant which is included if you are All Inclusive
We wouldnt go anything other than All Inclusive when you have children,as all Ice cream Drinks and Food are included
What more can I say!!!

You have maybe read mixed reviews previously on this website, but I can assure you that you will have a great Holiday and so will the kids

The one thing I would mention is that the Reception appears not not to like exchanging Scottish bank Notes,so make sure if you take cash that you have English bank notes with you.

The good news is that if you take scottish money with you then The Flower of Scotland pub in the town(10 Mins walk)will gladly exchange them for you and gives a better rate than the Banks or Burea De Change

Enjoy

Ian and Lorraine

The amirilla which has merged with the dorrado is were we stayed, whilst the pool areas and resturants were clean first thing in the morning by mid morning they had become filthy with no on gonig waiters or cleaners around to deal with the amount of use the areas were getting.

Our two bungalows were on the lower level near the resturant was of good lay out with a lounge/kitchen, bathroom and bedroom but all in very poor repair having cracked sink in the bathroom, mould on kitchen unit, paint flaking off the walls, doors insecure, bath water red rust, rust areas on bath. Also thes being some of the older bungalows and the poor repairs I beleive which lead to the problems we had with cockroaches.

Hotel staff were always very busy and struggled to keep up with amount of guests they had to serve, ie keeping the places clean, long wait for service at the resturants, bars and snack bars in the evenings.

Entertainment was great for the children, but no second choice for later on in the night.

Food was of a cafe style which was running out of everything, very little choice and once again not enough staff to be any good.

First Choice reps were great for the kids but were poor to react to problems.

I would revisit this resort again but would try another hotel.

We had a good time which was down to the weather and being able to be out and about, could of been great if this hotel had done a half of what we paid for.

We went to these apartments from 19/04 till 26/04/2006.

The resort as a whole was ok but we were broken in to in the early hours of the 26th, we believe that a key was used to gain entry. We were asleep in the apartment at the time. When reported to the First Choice rep she was unhelpful it turned out that there were 13 burglaries at these apartments during our week's stay. When we spoke to some of the other people that had been burgled it would appear that the doors were being unlocked from the outside in most cases. 9 of us that were burgled feel that these burglaries were either done by maintenance or the cleaners. You also have to pay 50euros for an English speaking translator to speak to the police who were most unhelpful.

We were in apartment a56 we we told the rep our apartment number her attitude appeared to be "oh not that one again" Some of the safes were not even bolted down and some people found safe keys etc on top of the wardrobe (easy access if you know the keys are there) would advise padlocking all cases etc and securing them some how before leaving the apartments.

The reps said that we were only one of 2 to be burgled during that week but when she pulled out the crime sheet it was full of burglaries that had happened during that week. We reported the burglary to the UK police upon our return who informed us that they could not do anything because it happened on foreign soil even though my photographic ID card with my name and age etc was stolen.

The hotel is vey clean, well laid out, good sized rooms. Cleaning staff, bar and catering staff were all excellent, really good with the kids and always had a smile on their face.

Food was fine, maybe a lack of choice sometimes, but there was always a fresh tasty salad to fall back on. You could order snacks (burgers, hot dogs, toasties) from about ten in the morning until late at night, so no chance of going hungry.

One thing we really appreciated is the fact that they do not allow glasses to be taken from the bar out to the poolside - you could still take drinks outside in paper/plastic cups - with no worries about the kids cutting themselves on broken glass!. Pool and poolside was cleaned daily, a bit on the cold side, but the kids all loved it.

Entertainment was ok but we've had better. Don't believe some of the bad reports you read! All the people we got friendly with enjoyed their stay as well. You'll also read reports that the hotel is on the flight path for the airport. What do you expect in a resort that's a mere 10 minutes from the airport! Don't worry, the flights don't start until 7.30am and stop before 11.00pm so you won't lose any sleep.

Stayed in this property for one week and had an excellent holiday. no complaints whatsoever.

Food was great with plenty of choice to suit all tastes.
all the reps and hotel staff work really hard to ensure your stay is good.

Our little girl loved the kids club they even had a Mcdonalds meal bought into them on one night.

Entertainment is good we won bingo!!!!!!!!!

On the first day we went a walk to find our feet and wondered where we were as we seemed far out from every thing but later discovered that we had headed the wrong way into the resort centre prob actually only about 5-10 min walk.

Building work is not a problem whatsoever.
Being only a short distance from the airport you do get planes flying over resort but this didnt effect your holiday earlies plane was never before 7.30 and it actually was quite enjoyable watching the planes fly over.

Am hoping to book again for November.

The transfer from the airport took about 15 minutes check in was quick then we was in our apartments they were a fair size and clean with a full kitchen and front and back terrace.

With the all inclusive you get the 3 main meals a day food was of good quality and good choice, alcoholic drinks local spirits and lager also cocktails and soft drinks.
Tea and coffee and cakes were available all day either at the entertainment bar or the pool bar.

There are two pools both with bars and a small shop.

The entertaintment was mainly provided by first choice in a fair sized entertainment bar.

The staff cannot do enough to help and are very good it is very much a family complex and soon went quiet after 12 at night if we were ever to return to fuerteventura we would return here without a doubt.

We booked a week before going here at a very cheap rate for all inclusive - we had seen the mixed reviews and decided to take a chance.

I have to say that these apartments were absolutely fine. It's obvious that they are being, or just have been, updated and rejuvenated. Our "chalet" was very spacious (they're all the same), and although the bathroom was somewhat the worse for wear, it was very clean. All the soft furnishings, the bed linen, the baby's cot and the fridge appeared to be brand new. There was also a kettle, toaster and sandwich toaster, which is rare in any kind of Spanish accommodation.

When holidaying with children, it's a great advantage to have a separate bedroom and living room, and that's what you get here. You also get a small dining area with a table and bar stools. There was loads of wardrobe space and more than enough hangers. As mentioned, the bathroom was a bit elderly, but there was no shortage of hot water, and everything was very clean.

The food was excellent throughout.
The breakfasts were delicious, I had a full cooked breakfast every day. Some of the bacon was lightly grilled, some medium and some very well done (how I like it), so you could always find some to suit your taste. There was also ample fruit, cereals, danish pastries, cold meats and breads.

We had lunch a couple of times, it was fine and the snacks from the bars between meals were very tasty too. The evening meals were good - the choice wasn't overwhelming like it can be in four or five star places, but the quality was fine.
I had some very nice roast meats (pork and beef steaks) and some very tasty pan fried fish. There was also fresh veg every day, which is in itself a rarity in the Canaries. The pudding choice was poor, usually just a blancmange/sponge cake type thing, or ice cream.

The beer on tap was OK, possibly watered down a bit, who knows, and the wine was perfectly acceptable. We didn't get much chance to drink in the bar in the evenings with our little boy getting tired and grumpy by about 8:30, but of the bar drinks I did get to try, the Gin and Tonic was more than acceptable. Maire also develped a bit of a liking for their hot chocolate and brandy "cocktail" before bedtime. On the subject of the entertainment bar, it's now non-smoking along with all the other public areas in Spain, so no need to worry about that if you're a non-smoker.

We didn't hear of any break-ins, but it's true that the back doors and the bedroom windows are potentially insecure. I have a tip for you if you ar going - take some
"cable-ties" along - these are the little plastic strips which loop through themselves and pull tight, you can buy them in any hardware shop. They need to be no more than 7mm wide, and at least 15cm in length. One of these will help to secure the door and the window; you'll see what to do with them when you get there.

The building work is nothing to worry about. They have built the "skeleton" of the new reception, and operations when we were there were of the plastering/cement pouring type. We didn't hear any noise, and there was no dust or dirt blowing about, in fact we didn't even know where the building work was going on until we went to look for it.

We stayed in chalet type rooms ample space we did a bit of furniture moving around to make our stay easier. The rooms are fully equipped with kitchen appliances even if your all inclusive with a complimentary bottle of water in the fridge on arrival. The rooms are clean and tidy with maid service most days. There's an A side and a B side to the complex with a pool at each side.

The food was excellent with a good choice each day and the kitchen staff are polite and work extremely hard to make your stay pleasant.

The location was slightly up a hill from the main shopping area but you need the walk from all the food and drink you indulge in. It's a very safe place to walk around nobody approaches you to buy anything but be warned watch out for the scratch card men. You'll know what I mean when you get there.

The entertainment team are excellent a real good bunch and the kids club girls what can I say really lovely, hard working girls ready to take your kids. Silly Sam dizzy Danny insane Izzy and loopy Leanne THANK YOU my kids love you we are definitely going back next year

We were originally self catering but we upgraded to 7 days all inclusive, this was a cheaper way to eat, but we wanted to eat out now and again as we went for 14 days. Also we hired a car for 3 days and knew we wouldn't be around as much. We were in small bungalows , from what we saw the hotel reception was always clean and tidy

The breakfasts were fab, something for everyone, lunch was ok sandwiches or salad or fish, meat mainly, plenty of chips. Evening meal was casserole type or a joint carved by a chef, if you weren't keen on things done in some sort of gravy or sauce you probably would have had a limited choice. The snack bar did a range of toasties and burgers etc.
The hotel location was about a 10 minute walk from the main town but to be honest we all needed the exercise after continuously eating and drinking!!!!

The hotel staff seemed helpful and efficient we really didn't have much dealings with them.

Our little bungalow was clean and tidy but we could have done with an extra bedroom to save making up a bed every night, could be a bit cramped at times with a family of 4

The best bit of our holiday was probably the entertainment on the night provided by the first choice entertainment team they were all fab and made our kids holiday. The mini disco was 8.30 every night even us adults loved it, cartoon heroes etc, very catchy. Smelly Kelly doing bingo, priceless, Andy pandy, Sarah, graham, and Tammy, had us up joining in most nights and if truth be known we won the quiz every night, we know we did???? Hull City Loyals.

Although the weather was not too good we didn't let it spoil our fun.

It would have been good to have a little adult entertainment after midnight everything came to a stop then

We would visit this hotel again but to be honest we like to go different places and very rarely go to the same place twice. We were on the quiet side which is away from the entertainments bar which was ok really, theres a choice of 2 pools. Too cold to go in they would have been better slightly heated.

We just got back literally from the Amarilla and it's been a mixed week, the place is a bit tatty, few broken tiles and paint chipped off but home is what you make it - even for a week!

The kids reps are great fun, mini disco starts at 8.30 then bingo, my little boy won 108 euro's on Sat so he is happy, they put a lot of effort into making you have fun.

We had some bad weather, 2 days rain and only 2 days of real hot sun. We walked down to harbour there is a floating shop and surrounding that are hundreds of big fish, spend a euro to buy fish food, it's worth it we were sitting feeding them and a sea lion came up right in front of me! it was tame. Also did the submarine boat trip as weather still bad, good for only 20 euro's, over and hour on boat and got to feed seals etc,

As for drinks, you can have as many as you like, most people got themselves 2 at a time, OH - main thing I wanted to say....

All of Spain is now non-smoking! You cannot smoke in any pubs, bars, clubs etc, even at the airport it's now banned - so if you can't face standing outside to smoke don't go. Lots of complaints about that but it's law now over there.

I did not enjoy the food much but I'm not a big food person anyway. If you like chips you will be ok, chips non stop from bar's, burgers and nuggets etc, dinner bit samey, usually something being cooked on grill, the steak was gorgeous, but other than that no deserts, I don't eat jelly or blancmange!

I would not go here again only because there were not enough shops, we were so bored when weather was bad. I'm not going to go in Jan again to the Canary isles as it looks like the weather is not a predictable as it was.

Karen, Jim, Sara, Jack, Robbie and Baby Taylor!

We travelled to Caleta Amerilla for 1 week and booked this 2-3 weeks before we travelled.

Was a little dubious as was told building work at hotel which made us think. but don't let this put you off, they are building but you don't hear or see anything (unless you walk past the area there building the new reception even then no noise). well out of way of pools and public areas.

Apartments were nice. Nice to have a full apartment even though your on all inclusive basis. Rooms could have been a little more modern but still they were clean and had everything you needed.

Maids were very good - best known when on holiday complex was very clean and rooms always cleaned to high standard. (and cleaned quite often compared to previous holidays) couldn't fault the cleanliness of this complex,.

First choice has an office on site so this was handy if you needed a rep at all.

The food in the snack bars was always hot and served quickly freshly prepred. serving pizza's BLT (pete's favorite as no marmite available!!!!)

Food from restaurant was ok. chips available everynight and a good variety available.did eat out 2 nights.

Entertainment was mainly family generated but the hypnotist was very good. Kids disco was great for the kids but as mentioned before we can't get cartoon heros out of our heads now.!!!!!!!!

Didn't have kids but the kids club was great (even though sunny sarah did fancy my man) she was lovely though bless her. they were great with the kids and kept them entertained well

Overall we had a great week at the Caleta Amerilla and would definatly return with family one day.

Made some great friends you know who you are.

We stayed two weeks at the Caleta Amarilla. On arrival we got to our room finding it very clean. However it was a little dated, the drawers were broken in the bedroom and the bathroom window was cracked. The lock on the back door of the apartment was a bit flimsy, other than that it was what I had expected.

The food at the hotel was very good. A good selection of snacks available from two poolside bars ie toasted sandwiches, pizzas, hot dogs chips all freshly made. The food in the restaurant was good too and quite varied. Drinks in the restaurant in the evening were self service, even the beer and wine!!!!.

Both pools were nice but very cold even though the weather was good. There was not many sun brollies though, and the chairs at the poolside bar on the A side really were well past their best.

Staff were always polite and helpful and good with the kids. Both of our children really liked the kids club with Nutty Nic, Sunny Sarah (who is obsessed with marmite) and Suzy. Even though our youngest is not really used to staying with others he still loved going.

The entertainment, what we saw was good, they do like their cartoon heroes a bit too much though!! There was bingo and entertainment on nightly, mostly provided by First Choice reps (Smelly Kelly was our sons favourite)

All in all we had a brilliant time. It was great fun and we made some fab new friends and it had a good laugh. We would go back but we would wait to see if it was updated a bit first.

Had a great time here.

The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The food was good, I have a very fussy eater for a child and I was able to feed him at all meals with no problems.

The apartments were clean and well maintained and I thought in a fairly good position for the town and the beach.

The bar staff and entertainment staff were excellent.

Don't know what else to say, except I will go back.

Just got back from Amarilla

We had good weather to say it was November

The entertainment was ok. Smelly Kelly was really good but my kids were teenagers and there wasn't much for them to do.

The bar staff during the day wasn't as friendly as the bar staff at night! Omar and Michael was great!

The place was very clean and it was a big complex

The pools were dead cold though!!

The food was edible but wasn't the best

I would return to this place

Just had our 5th visit to the Caletta Amarilla. Last years review was a bit bad but this year it had gone back to no problems.

Roms were a lot better, pool area was better, food was better, cleaners were great, bar staff great, restaurant staff great.

Our holiday was ruined by the family from hell whose holiday was paid by the government. [yes your taxes paid for her holiday] so we spent more time off complex, but there was still a great bunch of people to spend time with at night.

We had a fabulous time in this hotel. The kids (age 6,5 &5) were well entertained and loved Kids Club.

The food was great and it's a great way to budget your holiday. we only spent extra money on one excursion and presents to take home. The kids felt like they had a bit of independence going for ice creams / drinks etc when they wanted. The restaurant kitchen was open so you could see them prepare the food and it was spotless.

The excursion we went on was to the water park but it turned out to be a cold wet day (the only one out of 7). After freezing for an hour and the kids starting to ask for loads of food & drinks etc we decided it would be cheaper to pay £30 for a taxi to take us back to the hotel than try to feed, water and entertain 3 kids for 6 hours. Back at the hotel we then spent the day in the entertainment bar playing family games organised by the staff and having as much food and drink as we wanted.

Great place. We wouldn't hesitate to go back.

The staff were all fab, the entertainment crew were on the go all of the time and some of them also ran the Kids Club. Bar & Restaurant staff were really friendly and helpful.

The chalets were basic but more than adequate. Cleaners came in every second day, more if you requested it.

Great place for a family holiday

This is the second time we have visited this hotel, and it was as good the second time as it was the first.

Our room was cleaned every other day- with we thought was substantial as we didn't spend much time in there!

The food was quite varied, with a few different dishes each night and we didn't have any problems with it at all. The staff in the restaurant were VERY efficient and cleared plates away even if you hadn't finished!

The pool bars served food and it was very edible, burgers, chips, toasties, chicken nuggets and ice cream. We only went into the restaurant once for lunch as there was no need when you could get all the food you needed at the bar!

There were two pool bars, one at either pool. The pool near reception was quieter than the other, the other having water polo and other daytime activities and music.

The hotel staff were very helpful, we lost our key once (!) and we went down to reception to report it. Within 5 minutes a maintenance man was there changing the lock!

The hotel was located about 10 minutes away from Caleta De Fuste which was a good distance. Not too near and not too far. It's a nice walk down to the town but there is a road train running from behind the hotel.

The entertainment was great. During the day there were loads of kids club activities and sports, quizzes games etc. In the evening there was a kids disco, bingo, and a show. The bar that this takes place in is hot but not unbearable. There are seats outside the bar that many people sit at to enjoy a drink and the evening warmth!

We stayed at the Caleta Amarilla in september. Rooms were basic could of done with air conditioning as the one fan we had done nothing, we found having both doors open sent a nice breeze through apartment. rooms were cleaned every day, pools on both A side & B side were nice but freezing cold.

We stayed on the B side, after reading reports i was dreading it. but it was fine couldnt hear any noise, from the entertainment bar, the only bad thing is the planes go right over the complex every 5 mins, but you do get use to it.

This complex is excellent for Kids aged 3-6years kids club great, there is a Bouncy castle on the complex on mon, tue & saturday my 3yr loved that.

We didnt go AI we were SC, but we could buy tokens to use on complex, If anyone does go SC try Tony Roma's its lovely, food there is excellent best meal that we had on the island.

Would return to this complex.

Having read the reviews like most people before I went to Caleta Amarila I was quite worried and didn't know what to expect but when we arrived we were very surprised the rooms were lovely and clean and staff were very friendly.

The food in the restaurant was ok there was variety and choice and the food was always hot. The pool bar had better food in my opinion there was chicken nuggets, fish fingers, chips, pizzas and toasties good choice and ideal snacks for chilling by the pool.

The pools were lovely we stayed round the A side pool which was both quite and relaxing.

The entertainment was of standard but I must admit if it wasn't for the couple we meet while we was there it wouldn't have have been as enjoyable you know who you are I won't mention names it was a laugh a minute especially the matrix magic show hahahahaha. The First Choice entertainers though worked there socks off and they were great especially Vince, Laura, Billy and Kieran.

Last of all the kids club I'd just like to say thank it was great I don't normally let my children go but they absolutely loved it and still talk about it now.

I would definitely go back the weather was great and the the people we meet were great and sadly missed.

Caleta Amarilla

We travelled on 7th september and had a fantastic time. We have been to many places and alot higher in the ratings and service. But we were very impressed, the rooms and towels were cleaned every day. Not everyone gives you clean towels everyday so I was really pleased.

We stayed on side A and met some lovely people and children. I can say that the pools were very clean and that pool area was cleaned every morning. Being positioned by the pool area I saw it for myself that it was cleaned.

The food was fine I didnt hear of anyone suffering any illnesses or not filling their plates, everyone was friendly to each other at dining times. The children ate well. Most people were tucking into the tuna pizzas they were tempting. The snack bar was clean and the food was cooked fresh and everyone was coming back with different meals, definitely put on weight. Even the restuarant was good the staff greeted you as you walked into dine. The staff were friendly and helpful. I have no complaints and everyone we talked to said the same. The bar staff were very generous in the drinks department! nothing was to much trouble.

Because people were put off by reports before we went we were all nervous. Very glad I didnt pay attention, not that I would ever put my family into the holiday from hell! but considering the amount of people who stay there, a handful of letters is not worth worrying over.

The kids club was briliant the kids couldnt wait to go in. Tricky Vicky, Naughty Nicky, Cutie Katie and Diamond Jen made sure your children had the best time. The entertainment team were funny and made sure you had a good time. The childrens disco was good fun and the family entertainment was good we had a hypnotist, a parrot show, sixties/seventies night.

We met a lot of lovely people and on our last night alot of us met up at midnight for a farewell dip!

For a two star hotel it was really value for money.

Fantastic weather, good company, alot of fun, would definitely go back!

We went beginning of September for two weeks. The food was good and the accommodation was very clean.

We were dubious before we went because of reports about the place.

I say that if you want four star then book it.

But if you want value for money, good entertainment, briiliant kids club, and brilliant weather then go for it.

We met lovely people and thoroughly enjoyed the night time entertainment with the first choice staff.

The hotel staff were friendly and polite nothing was to much trouble for them.

The all inclusive was great, as we have usually only done half board this was much better.

We would definitely go again and everyone we made friends with said the same.

It is definitely for kids and families.

Could not find fault!

My fiance and our two children Kallum (6) and Konnor (2)went A/I to the Caleta Amarilla, this was our second stay here in three years, and was enjoyed throughout. Although last time we came in July, the weather was too hot this time round, and Konnor did not enjoy it.

The hotel cleanliness was up to standard, the staff were always sweeping and cleaning, whether it was outside the apartments, the poolsides or in the entertainers bar.

The food was lovely, and the presentation was just as good, although beef seemed to be quite popular within our two week stay. On our second week most children went home so there were insufficient children's meals at dinner times because there were hardly any children, my kids ate mostly chips or baked potatoes though out our stay.

The hotel location itself wasn't too bad, it was a 15 min walk to the beach passing shops on the way, and only 10 mins from the airport, the flight route (planes passing over us every 20 mins) didn't bother us too much, infact it entertained my youngest most of the day.

The hotel staff were very courteous and friendly, most did speak English very well, and those who didn't tried very hard to understand.

I would just like to take this opportunity to thank Omar the bar manger for a warm and welcome reception, this is the second time we have met him in three years as he was here the last time we came. Also Emma a member of the bar staff, she was lovely and she loved children.

The entertainment was equally good, my children enjoyed the kids disco from 8.30pm until 9.15pm, there is also cash prize bingo which my eldest and myself enjoyed every night, along with adult entertainment starting at 10pm, it was either a parrot show, hypnotist, and also the fact that all the first choice reps got up on stage and danced and sang to all the Disney theme tunes, there was a lot of variety and something for everyone.

Also would like to thank 3 reps individually, (Vince, Laura and Billy), Vince was by far the most entertaining of them all, he had so much energy and vitality he also made my family feel special especially my son who made a friend in our first week, then he went home, my son was feeling slightly low, Vince included him in everything, he got my son to smile again, and I wish to thank him for that.

There was also laura, who had a great talent for singing and dancing, she included everyone in everything, she was especially kind and patient with the children which can sometimes take up so much energy and effort with some. Finally there was Billy, a typical Scottish lad (bless him), he was lovely, could make the crowd laugh (whether it was with him or at him), he enjoyed our company as much as we did his. On our last day my family and I received lots of cuddles and kisses from the staff, even exchanging addresses which I hope to keep in contact with them all, so thank you First Choice for a memorable holiday.

Would I visit this hotel again: I certainly would!

The Caletta is a very basic budget holiday. We are enjoyed our two weeks with our son (age 16) & daughter (age 6), but there was not alot for our son to do. Our daughter had a great time at the pool. This area surrounding the pool should be cleaned more and not just every Saturday. The pool itself was clean and heard no reports of ear infections.

Staff on reception were extremely kind and helpful. Staff at Bar pool struggled to understand food requests but were very pleasant. The food filled a gap but the burgers do not look cooked enough.

Our room was not really big enough for 4 but its only a place to sleep & had a few problems with ants. Our fridge constantly leaked and was unuseable. Our rooms were cleaned every 2 days.

This hotel needs abit of TLC and the rooms could do with a lick of paint.

We were A/I and the food down in the main town was really nice. We did not attend the entertainment as most nights we were in town.

I would not return to Caletta or hotels surrounding as they are very similar.

On arrival we had to complain about the room as electric sockets were either hanging loose or missing compltely. The one fan was covered in dead moths, cobwebs and feathers.

While we were there one room got robbed of all holiday money. Another had red worms coming out of the shower. This was never fixed.

The food was ok most of the time, however on Mexican night some of the food was still frozen. There wasn't enough seats at night. And the entertainment room was stifling. Having said that the entertainment team were fantastic.

The holiday rep not so.

Beware of the cats they are all over and do bite and scratch if anyone tries to stroke them. We will not be coming here again.

When we arrived we were situated on Side B, although I read many off putting details of this side of the complex, we didnt have a problem. The rooms are basic but clean, maid service every other day. The fans in the rooms were next to no good. It does get hot, 47oC for about 4-5 days and air conditioning is needed. Leaving the curtains and doors closed does keep the rooms cooler!

Many people had complained about the food, we found it brilliant, always a carved meat available, roast of boiled potatoes, vegetables, wide range of salad with fresh bread, selection of cheeses and chips, burgers, pizza, chicken and pasta dishes available for childrens. Overall a wide selection and very enjoyable.

The entertainment was fantastic, our kids joined the bugs bunny club and wavelength and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The evening the good too, they had a kids mini disco which all children enjoyed and the adult entertainment at 10pm was just as good. The reps made it very enjoyable our hats go off to all of you!

After all of that, there was one down side, our first morning at the hotel, the kids couldnt wait to go for the pool, after 5 minutes they both came out with cuts, our daughter needed stitches in her leg! The hotel paid for her to attend the private clinic. The pool does need some maintenance (pool b). Her injury was caused by pipe sticking out, which was rectified immediately. There was also many tiles broken or chipped in the pool and i believe there were some minor cuts. Side A pool is quiet deep in the shallow end so be warned.! The maids were always washing and cleaning the pool area .

Would we return to this hotel, of course, it was a pleasant stay, the reps were brillant, food good and hotel staff very pleasant and the sun shone what else could you ask for!

Rooms were very basic but what you need in a room! Fresh towels always stunk of fish and damp!

Make sure you get a safe because my expensive jacket was taken and a friends 55 euros was taken! We reported to reception, didn't want to know!!

Had a serious problem with ants! Maids sprayed everyday but they still appeared!

Snack bar was poor! The food was always uncooked! Got ill 1 night! Have to wait about 20 mins for a drink at night!

No entertainment 4 older kids, so what do they expect us to do ?

No air conditioning, fan didn't do any thing! Woke up wet with sweat! Need to do something about this!

Met some fab mates! We hope to see them again soon : jack, Luke, Nick, Chris, John, Josh, Lee, Scott! xx

Just returned from a very pleasant week indeed, saw the good and the bad but you have to make your own mind up and not listen to some comment already made.

Put it this way we are going back at xmas for a short family break. The rooms were clean with all the facilities although the kettle did break which was replaced straight away, these things happen.

Plenty to do and the reps do their hardest to keep you happy day and evening, entertaining the kids and adults.

The entertainment is no west end show put on by the reps but will you really stay in the complex everyday all day without venturing out???? if so go to butlins !all in all a good place with some improvements to be made.

The food was ok 3 out of 10, 3 days was enough of the evening meals and we ventured into town, breakfast is good! 2 pools had problems whilst we were there and we kept our harry out just in case of infection but they got it sorted. Just go and make your own mind up honestly its not all that bad as suggested and enjoy the weather. It was 40 degrees Aaugust bank holiday week. The hottest days of the year so far.

One tip, dont buy sun creams from the guy selling around the pool , the same things are cheaper in town. Listen to his advise and go shopping.

Enjoy

The hotel was clean, but the fresh towels smelt of damp.

Location was'nt the best for small children. I cut my foot, on something in the pool on our first day, & after 3 days of limping, & other guests injuring themselves, discovered there were broken tiles at bottom & side of pool. The tiled area around the pool was just as bad ! My complaints to f/c reps were brushed off.

Some of the hotel staff were very arrogant, & the entertainment was terrible, the entertainment room, had no air conditioning, or ceiling fans & no windows. I quueued for 20 mins plus for a drink, only to be told, 1 drink per customer,

The reps are not experienced enough to deal with adults ?

I will never visit this hotel again !

If you get the choice of having your teeth taken out with a cordless drill or two weeks here.....Go for the drill....Really. It is that bad.

A tired run down holiday camp, shabby to say the least.
Teenagers running wild at all hours, rear doors to the apartments can be opened from outside easily but I won't say how.

Pool tables with rips and cushions hanging off which they expect you to pay one euro for.

The entertainment lounge is like a sauna with the queue a mile long.

Do not eat the food in the entertainment bar. I am not a snob by any means but there are certain standards that are just not met here.

In keeping with the rules of the site let me just say it attracts a certain clientèle, football shirts and tattoos seem to be the order of the day, and then there's the men!!

The food was great no probs there. If you get the chance and it's not too late change now or upgrade when you get there - Really it's not good.

All inclusive,is a brilliant idea, we hardly spent any money. As we are both in catering we found the found fine, there's a lot of people to cater for, in in a short time between meal times. Found room very clean.

Hotel staff great, and could understand English very well. Hotel location ok, a little walk does you good after all that food. Entertainment alright, Children enjoyed the mini Disco. Drink and snacks are ideal.

I must say it is very annoying that people reserve sunbeds, and sometimes don't use thm till after lunch.

Just returned from a 2 week stay at the Caleta Amarilla.

Slightly apprehensive on arrival having read several bad reviews about this property my fears were quicklly dispersed.

Our apartment on the A side was clean and spacious with a complimentry bottle of water, and self catering facilities. The only downside to the apartments is that there is no airconditioning, a fan is provided however it does little more than blow hot air around! Sleeping is therefore quite uncomfortable and getting ready can be a little trying.

Both pools were very nice we stayed at the quieter A side pool and in two weeks never had to battle for a sunbed, although we did buy our own umbrella to use (7.50 euro)altough it did baffle me sometimes why adults would reserve sunbeds for there toddlers who spent 50% of the day in the pool and the rest asleep in there buggys!!!!!!!

The pool area was cleaned every morning by an army of maids with mops.My husband and daughter went over to the B side pool to join in activities and my 5 year old son had swim lessons there an excellent service provided by First Choice and highly recommended at only 37euro for 5 x 30min sessions my sons group had only 3 children in it!

First choice Kids Club staff and facilities were the best we have ever experienced, loads of sessions, great facilities and dedicated freindly staff.

The food was fab!!!!! Loads of choice, well presented, and plenty of it!! Our kids always found something they liked and also had no complaints!! Although both pool bars served snacks, the restaurant also serves lunch between 1 and 3, so if you prefer a salad, sandwich or jacket spud rather than jiggling hotdog and chips on your sunbed the choice is there.

The entertainment was as per norm for your standard package holiday mini disco, bingo, and quiz/shows performed by the first choice reps an extremely hard working and likeable bunch of individuals, this is not the west end, enough said!

Visiting Cabaret acts were ok hypnotist, magician, acrobats, and my particular fav the Boney-M tribute band ( no really they were ace)We tended to sit outside as the entertainment bar was very, very hot!!!! This would be my only critisism the Bar really needs air conditioning, it is very stuffy and smoky.

The staff at Caleta Amarilla were efficient and friendly.

This is officially a 2 star property and it is a fair rating.

At our welcome meeting Caleta Amarillo was described as the islands friendliest hotel and this was the most accurate description! We met some fabulous people here from all over the uk. We would have no hesitation in recommending this property and we would return.

In answer 2 a previous review next year the Caleta Amarillo and neighbouring property Caleta Dorada are joining together and appear in the First Choice brochures -Club Caleta Dorada hope this helps!!

Did i mention the drinks???? We had loads and they were good!

The Caleta Amarilla and have found it very enjoyable each time.

On arrival we had an apartment on a side the quieter side which suited as fine as we could be at pool and keep an eye on our apartment if kids wanted to have a sleep, also have first view of pool to reserve a sun bed, a couple of times we didn't wake till 08:30 and most people had already woken and placed towels on sun beds, still managed to reserve one or two though
two men were always out at 07:00 lying on the same sun beds every morning.

Food was good, but I think it had something lacking, was better last year, but i have still managed to put on half a stone.

Drinks are brilliant, good variety of spirits and measures are probably a treble at least.
Two staff in bar really make it Omar and Ali.
Entertainment was very good especially for kids.
Kids club was excellent kids reps kept our kids entertained different activities for them to do; times were generally a two hour slot apart from bugs’ bunnies’ dinner which was three hour slot.

Some activities had to be paid for but were well worth it.
Entertainment team started at 10:30am doing various activities from Rounders water basketball skittles twister and many more all of which were very good.
Evening entertainment started with kids mini disco from 20:30 to 21:30 then cash bingo then a show either a dance/singing show by entertainment team themselves or an outside act, we had an eagles tribute
hypnotist parrot show and Boney M tribute which was very good, on nights that didn't have an outside act. In house entertainment team would do a show themselves or a show involving the audience, in all very good.

After reading many of the comments we were a little worried! We arrived at 9pm and were on the B side, well it reminded me of Butlins, just horrid. Our room was just outside the bouncy castle which stays up until 10.30 each night. The bar area was run down, full of people smoking and it was very hot. We didn't go in there again. We were finally moved to the A side 3 days later. It was better, the pool area was nicer and less noise at night.

If you like loud people who enjoy getting their towels on the sunbeds at 5am then this is the place for you. You must have at least one tattoo though.

On the plus side, the rooms were cleaned well (although very basic inside, on Side B the room looked as though it had been vandalised) the staff were all very friendly and always tried to help. The kids club was good too, lots of activities if the children wanted to join in. The food in the hotel was very good and really well presented.

We wouldn't go back to this hotel or the resort again.

After reading some comments on this page we were a bit apprehensive about this trip. But believe me this is a very good budget holiday.

The rooms are basic but cleaned almost everyday and a plus with all inclusive we had all kitchen facilities including fridge, kettle, toaster and even a toastie maker!

The entertainment team were there from first thing till at least midnight every night there are all sorts of activities going one at B pool for all. The nighttime entertainment was mainly through the reps and they put there all into it although some nights there was other entertainment Parrot show, Magician etc.

Now the downsides as reported earlier the food is quite repetitive and sometimes in correctly labelled - but there is always something you will like, my 7 year old is very fussy and she ate every mealtime, but if all else fails go to the snack bar and get something from there.

There was one burglary while we were there but if you get a safe for 24euros and 5euro deposit you should be ok.

The lager got a bit sickly but there's almost every spirit to try(for free).

All in all we had a very good time and met some good friends and will definitely return.

This is our second visit to Caleta Amarilla.

Much same as before except the food has improved and is much hotter now than previous visit.

Location of hotel is bit far from beach if you have small children but you can get taxi ride in.

Entertainment was very good, what you would normally expect for a package holiday - outside cabaret, reps shows - you have to join in though with the quizzes, games etc to get full benefit. The Entertainment Reps were excellent, energy levels unreal. Some really good singer/dancers in the team. Kids reps good although they ran out of the kids club goodies and this was only week 2 of the school holidays - my children not very impressed with this.

In the bar wide choice of alcohol incl several cocktails although strength of these bit dubious!

Very clean generally, rooms cleaned on daily basis.

Sunbeds/parasols were a problem and some families were at pool before light and hogging two sunshades. Pop into town and purchase umbrella €18 (£12) or take one with you!

We found the hotel set up of chalet style buildings just right (no high rise for us) with our own little terrace to sit out on. The rooms were quite basic but with everything you would probably need. Beware of the tiled floors though after a shower they become very slippery (Georgia had about 5 falls on her bum) Our particular room was well located for the pool and restaurant with the bonus of being on the B side.

I thought the food pretty good with a lot of choice but wife & kids not as enthusiastic.

Hotel staff on the whole were excellent being quite nifty in clearing your table sometimes before you had finished your plate!

On the entertainment side some of the acts brought in were great(Boney M - Eagles) and the others just passed a hour on.First Choice staff Vince Laura and Billy were fantastic, really friendly but also very hardworking but on our fortnight they had a lot of help from Darren and Tom who set out to really enjoy their holiday and dragged us all along with them- Thanks again you two!

Plenty of tattoo's on view along with some silly hats (cough-cough) and we were lucky to meet some really nice people (hola Craig Becki Jasmine and Maddi)and given the chance would go back.

Only hairy moment was when a boiler exploded in a nearby complex one night giving us all a few nervous moments

This was the second time that we have stayed here and we stopped on the A side this year.

Staff all friendly just some of the more ignorant English holiday makers did nothing but moan.

You had to get up early to get sunbeds as some people were reserving theirs before 6am or even the night before. Yes, it was us who chucked your towel in the pool!! Some people even hid their parasols in the bushes so they could have them the following day.

Entertainers were all good but the shows need working on.

Food was varied and nice and the snacks were good too. Got sick of the beer in the second week but there was plenty of other drinks to have.

The whole place was cleaned daily and only had one or two cockroaches which is good for the canaries. No ants either.

We have tattoos and we can spell and read, so Andy Pandy, stop tarring everyone with the same brush.

Food was okay but not a very good selection, especially for children in the restaurant. Snack bar food was very poor with half the food been uncooked and also left standing for a long time before been served.

Room was basic and cleaned nearly every day, had a problem with sewerage in the bathroom was dealt with asap but used same mop to clean floor with that he put down the toilet.

Planes flew over quite a lot but it wasn't a problem during day as you got used to them, but they started flying over around 6am.

Hotel staff was very friendly would do anything for you, pity your on site rep wasn't as helpful. Also had items taken from room day before leaving, reported to reception but heard nothing since.

Entertainment team was excellent, our son had a broken arm so he could not go into the pools, but they did games for families and children throughout the day and night so it kept him occupied. If wasn't for the entertainment staff this holiday would not have been as good for us.

Some of the outside cabarets acts where more interested in making money from you, e.g. photos.
also if you are planning your holiday here take a universal remote control as the TV will cost you to watch.

We have just returned from a two week break and must say that we were disappointed with this holiday.

I had read reports prior to traveling but went with an open mind. My first impressions where not very good, and did not improve during our stay.

Four members of our party came down with sickness and stomach cramps as did a lot of other guests but the rep didn’t seem concerned even when we told her that food we were served from both snack bars wasn’t cooked.

As with other guests we were visited frequently by the local cockroaches, one night we had nine extremely large ones lying dead on the bathroom floor.

One thing we really can't fault is the entertainment team, they worked such long hours and really were fantastic, making us laugh both day and night.

Overall we feel disappointed with this holiday compared to previous holidays. We would not return to this complex.

This aparthotel is right under the flight path and is popular with people who don't care what their kids do. The fathers tend to favour football tops and one or both parents will definitely have tattoos.

On site entertainment, (mainly reps doing poor karaoke)if you like that sort of thing, goes on until midnight. You get 2 hours rest before the drunks spill out of the Monte Castillo centre.

We witnessed a cleaner preparing an apartment for the next family to arrive, in fifteen minutes, which we presume included changing 4 beds!

Service at the bar was very poor. I watched a couple queue for 20 minutes to get the sole barman to serve them.

The only saving grace was the reception staff who dealt with all our complaints sympathetically and promptly.

Overall we were extremely disappointed and cut our holiday short.

Second year at Amerilla apartments. Sorry to say this but was disappointed from last year.

We stayed in apartment on A side which is a lot quieter than B side but since they added two games tables (pool and air hockey) to the pool terrace the atmosphere has completely changed!

There were gangs of teenagers hanging around until the early hours disrupting the whole area, throwing everything that wasn't bolted down in the pool including each other! God only knows what the excellent staff think of the people from our country.

They are always friendly, always helpful and always seem to be happy. Even when they get a ear full of abuse from some complete ignoramus and its kids!!

Maybe it was just the people there at the time but I was completely taken aback at the change in the place. Needless to say won't be returning!

Hope you have a nicer time!

We went for my son's 13th birthday. We were in A block - the quieter block - it was perfect. Food was very good - lots of choice.

Pools were clean and checked regularly, poolside bar drinks and snacks were very nice. Close to airport so could hear planes during day but didn't put us off at all.

Hotel staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Could maybe be a bit more entertainment for adults but kids loved mini disco.

Would definitely return. Daughter wants to go for her 13th now!

A very clean and tidy hotel. Staff very helpful always there if you need to ask about anything. The entertainment was great for the kids but there could of been more for my 13yr old boy stuart.

The food was ok but it was the same everynight. The beds were ok but a bit unconfortable. the pool was clean and the loungers were confortable, the only thing was you had to be up early to get your towels out.

The ba staff were friendly and had alot of time for he kids.

It was a 5min walk to the town which was good, the only thing was the sand on the beach was sore on your feet.

there are water sports for adults and the kids, so you are nevers bored in the hotel.

overall it was a good hotel and we would vist the hotel again.

Cannot believe some of the comments about the food being awful, we loved it, everything abou the complex was great, the food, the entertainment, the staff, the rooms could not fault anything and the comments from Andy from Edinburgh are ridiculous, what does it matter who has tattoos?

For me this just goes to prove how ignorant some people really are, I don't have any, my husband has 5 but he seems like a nicer person that you who steriotypes people, talk about being narrow minded!!!

Next season the Amarilla is merging with the Caleta Dorada and will be 24hr all inclusive, it sounds great but I think I would still prefer to be at the Amarilla side as we walked along to the Dorada and its not as good as the Amarilla.

A holiday is what you make of it and if you spend your time worrying whether people have tattoos or not then you are very sad and what a waste of your money!!!

This was the first time I've stayed all inclusive and I loved it. The complex was lovely and our room was in a brilliant position next to the pool.

I also liked having a kitchen area with fridge to make drinks for ourselves. The food was very good with plenty of choice, and the staff were all really nice.

The only drawback as far as we were concerned was the lack of adult entertainment, it was all geared towards children. There was an adult music bar but no one seemed to use it so we went out into the town most nights.

We arrived first at Caleta Dorada, it was not nice, the apartment stank of raw sewage. We got moved to Caleta Amarilla. These apartments where basic but ok! but on the seconed week we had some new friends - cockroches and lots of caterpillers.

Apart from that the staff where nice and the pool was very relaxing not to noisy. The food was good from the pool side bar, well not bad for fast food. We went to the town most nights to eat out, 5 mins away lots of good restaurants.

We would not go back to Fuerteventura. We would like some where a little more up market. Maybe Greece next year!

Hi,
My family and I went to Caleta De Fuste hotel. My kids were 3 and 2.

The three year old loved the kids club and went every day.The staff in there were great...Slammimn Sam.Jumping Jemma.

I have to say that we had no problems on holiday. No Drunks No Louts and no Break ins.It was a very safe environment for the kids.

The worst thing was when my son jumped into the pool without armbands!!

The food for the two weeks was great. We are not fussy eaters and will eat anything, but we really enjoyed mealtimes.Every time we went to the dining romm,we found the staff extremely welcoming and friendly.

I know some people have posted thet they wished more entertainment for adults after 12pm, but I thought it was perfect.

The hotel caters for kids and it is great that when bedtime comes, there is no music pounding away till 4 am)No Im not an old fuddy duddy...I am 39)There was adult shows after 10pm until 12pm and I found them great.

I would recommend this hotel for great weather and a fun holiday.
I understand that the place has been upgraded so that should be good.
We loved the place and are going again on 14th June this year.
I will report how we find it this time.

This was just a last minute, cheap break and we had never gone All Inclusive before so were a bit worried. However, it was brilliant. The food was fine and the kids loved being able to get as many fizzy drinks as they wanted etc!

The rooms were clean and the bar/restaurant staff were really friendly. The entertainment reps were brilliant too - they are new to the season, but the entertainment was really good.

My only complaint was the fact that there were quite a few break-ins whilst we were there, which I had heard of before we went. As long as you are careful, use a safe and don't leave any valuables lying around on view in the apartment - then you should be ok - even if you are in the apartment!! This is a big problem and First Choice need to sort something out quick.
