My Husband, daughter ( 7) and myself holidayed at the 3 corners Fayrouz 29th Oct – 5th Nov. We flew from Manchester to Marsa alam with Monarch – I have to say it wasn’t the best flight quite cramped and not very comfortable, it was an early morning flight and we did ( stupidly ) expect breakfast pretty quickly but instead it was a money making exercise of drinks and snacks first.
We landed on time and the airport and transfer were quick and painless, check in was good and we were taken to our room 2021 far left of complex and with a sea view. Room was clean and tidy but basic - shower had plenty of hot water.

During our time there it was very windy I think it must be like this pretty much year round as wind breaks are a permanent fixture, we did find the wind a bit annoying as got sand blasted frequently and also it made the sea and snorkelling a bit bouncy (if anyone knows when its not windy please let me know!) However we all got a great tan temps high 20’s even low 30’s and low 20’s in evening. Days are short light at 6am dark at 5pm. Beach is clean plenty of sun beds and parasols; you will get folk coming along to sell quad bikes, massage etc also camel rides on beach.
When it was a little calmer snorkelling off the end of the pier was good with a variety of fish, we also walked to the bay to the right (if you look out to sea) where we snorkelled and saw turtles which was fab !!
Entertainment was ok , my daughter enjoyed the kids club – thanks Natalia ! And also the nightly mini disco, English people were in the minority but this didn’t bother us.
Food – breakfast was good pancakes, omelettes, eggs cooked too order, cereals, pastries etc.
Lunch in main restaurant buffet style or at beach hot dogs , pizza etc.
Evening meal again buffet style in main restaurant they also had a la carte which we didn’t try, and theme nights on beach etc again we didn’t try.
Drinks were all pretty good rose wine, beer , vodka and hot chocolate were our main tipples.
On the whole food was ok we didn’t starve and my daughter ate very well, which is surprising as she’s fussy on the day before we came home we all had a little bit of an upset tummy , my husband is fine now but my daughter and I still aren’t quite right. There were a lot of flies around which were a bit off putting.
Flight back was with Thomson and better than outbound we were slightly delayed but only 20 minutes or so.
It was a good holiday and some much needed winter sunshine but I think we prefer Taba and sharm. Seeing the turtle was truly amazing and probably the highlight for me , also some beautiful stars in the evening.

We stayed for two weeks at the end of September. The temps were 35/36c every day and didn't drop much at night. The a/c in the rooms is very good and very welcome. Our room was 3041 and was right on the beach front. There's a row of 4 numbered 3041 - 3044 and I e-mailed the hotel to ask if we could be put in one of them. The views are brilliant ..... the only down side is they are right near the amphitheatre where the evening shows are on and the music is quite loud but the shows usually finish by 11.30 p.m.

The jetty has 2 access points ..... one about half way along and the other right at the end. The access steps are sloped which makes it so much easier to get in and out of the water. We were told by one of the hotel guards that there are plans to extend the jetty by another 70 metres in the near future.

If you don't mind a bit of a walk there's a bay just along the beach to the right where apparently you are almost certain to see turtles and can snorkel with them. It's about a 20 minute walk.

There's a small fridge in the room which is classed as the mini bar. It's stocked with some cans of pop and a couple of small bottles of water but we didn't use them. The hotel supply two one litre bottles of water when you arrive and these can be re-filled in the restaurant, at the pool bar and in the lounge bar.

We only went to Port Ghalib to board the glass bottomed boat trip arranged with the hotel. The Port isn’t completed yet but what's there is really nice and very up market looking. Saw a TGI Friday and a Costa Coffee and I think there are other restaurants there but it's not really within walking distance from the Three Corners. You can arrange a bus to take you there from the hotel which I think gives you a couple of hours to walk around. It was a smallish boat which didn't travel very far out of the port but the coral and fish that we saw through the glass bottom was excellent. We also had a turtle that swam alongside and then swam under the boat so we could watch it diving. The boat stopped for about half an hour for anyone who wanted to snorkel and there were soft drinks and cakes/pastries included. It was a very pleasant trip out and an opportunity to see Port Ghalib.

The food in the restaurant isn't cordon bleu but we always found something we liked. Hubby got a tummy upset but we don't think it was caused by the food 'cos I was ok apart from a couple of gripey pains. Some tablets from the pharmacy sorted him out in 24 hours. All of the waiters were excellent, can all speak a little english and are very pleasant and polite. Watch out for them asking if you want fresh orange juice at breakfast or sangria with evening meals. These drinks are not part of the AI package and have to be signed for and paid for at the end of your hols. The drinks were ok. We stuck to the beer and I also drank the rose wine which was very palatable.

There is a laundry service and we used it once. It's 12 euros for a bag of washing.

The animation team try very hard to involve guests in the daily activities but most people are just there to chill out. During the course of the day there are various people around the pool trying to sell massages, romantic meals, camel/horse riding , manicures and newspapers, but normally a "No thankyou" will suffice.

Brits are in the minority but it wasn't a problem. Lots of Italians, French, Belgians, Germans, Poles and I think Russians. No problems with queue jumping and such at meal times which I'd read in previous reviews.

Evening entertainment is limited. There's a singer on the terrace and the animation team put on a show each night in the amphitheatre but we didn't go to any. They were from 9.30 p.m. to 11.30 p.m. I'd suggest you take some cards or some games to play. The reception and lobby area is spacious and has comfy settees and armchairs and tables and chairs to sit at. The terrace is lovely but gets full quite quickly after the evening meal. I think people rushed to have their meal at 6.30 p.m. so they could be first upstairs !!

There is a cash point within the shopping area but we didn't use it. We took sterling, dollars, euros and egyptian pounds. The shops will take any currency. There is a pharmacy, papyrus shop, perfume shop, beauty salon and several souvenir shops which also sell general goods like shampoo, shower gel, etc. The shopping area isn't air conditioned so it can get rather warm in there !!

You get a towel card per person when you check in. Towels are available by the pool or at the beach and you can change them as often as you like.

We paid $15 each for our visas. Because we were travelling "independantly" we got them from the windows to the left as we entered the terminal building and this was the fee shown. Those on packages queued with their tour operators to get visas so I don't know how much and what currency they used.

I should mention that I did get bitten by mossies in the first couple of days (which I think were in the room) but i bought a can of "OFF" from the pharmacy to spray myself and the room and wasn't bothered again.

Because the resort is so new the grounds are still quite barren and to me lacked a bit of "character" (we'd been to the Iberotel Lamaya just along the coast last year which is a more established resort so had been spoilt). But after a couple of days it grew on me and in a couple of years time it'll be out of our price range I think !!
