We arrived at Sunny Day Apartments at 11.30pm on a Saturday night and was immediately welcomed by staff, who offered us glasses of red or white wine. We also had a male staff member who took luggage up to the room we were staying in.

We entered the room and was very impressed as soon as we walked in. The room was very clean but the carpet was a bit dark in a few spots. We had a two floored apartment with spirally stairs which where quite dangerous.

In our room, we had a very basic kitchen with a microwave and kettle. However the fridge was pathetic as its about the same size as a pillow, remembering there were 6 of us staying in this apartment!

Downstairs, we had a double bed which pulled out from a sofa. We also had a one seated sofa with a TV, two air conditioning units and a balcony. Upstairs we had a en-suite, which included a toilet, shower and bath. Two single beds, mirrors, plenty of wardrobes and another room with wardrobes and a double bed with a balcony.

The pool was very clean but sometimes we found the pool to be very cold. As for comments concerning the state of the pool, I couldn’t fault it as the maintence guy sat down on a chair just watching the pool from 8.30 in the morning to very late at night. Worked very hard on it at night time, sometimes cleaning in 4/5 times a week.

Staff were very friendly and the receptionists were fantastic. Knew what they were doing and spoke with very good English. Helpful and willing to listen if you needed information on anything. The bar staff were wild and tended to be party animals later on in the night.

Sometimes depending on how many people were still around the Poolside bar, music and pool throwing carried on until 3/4am. Some guests complained and the staff soon put a stop to the loud music at night and ordered guests to go into the inside bar from 12am onwards.

Sunny Day is in a very good location as its no less than a 5 minute walk to the beach front, which is the best part of Sunny Beach. Packed with bars, clubs and restaurants plenty to do for people of all ages. Outside the hotel was a 24 hour supermarket and a bus stop that had buses running every 15 minutes and a free bus shuttle to the Aqua park.

The cleaners were fantastic and the best I have ever witnessed at a hotel. Our cleaner was in every day and cleaned the apartment very thoroughly.

During the day, we often used the hotel restaurant to order food but had to admit the food was very basic. If you want to order fish/steak/chicken, you had to order salad/chips on the side for it to be a proper meal. It also took quite a while sometimes for food to come to the table but it was cooked to a high quality.

Would go back to Sunny Day and to Sunny Beach. Thought the place was lovely and anyone would feel very comfortable anywhere in the resort.

I stayed at the sunny day hotel with my family for 2 weeks and i would not recommend this place to any one, the place is a shambles, the pool is a disgrace, for 9 day's of our stay the pool was never clean, and after reporting it to the rep several times nothing ever got done, it also needs to be repaired as loose tiles and missing tiles are a bit of a problem and we got told that they provide us with shoe's to go into the pool with so we would not cut our feet.

The rooms are ok but have carpets and they are in need of a good clean, also when we asked where the gym was as we were told it was broken, only to discover it was being used as staff quaters for the cleaners, it also offered other facilities but many were not usable.

I have got to say if you want a good holiday and want to spend time in the pool, then going to this hotel would spoil all that.

We've just returned from 2 weeks at the Sunny Day hotel, having read the good reveiws on this website. The hotel itself was OK but it was a bit shabby. When we arrived our room stank of cigarettes - there must have been a chain smoking family in before us for the previous fortnight. Although we tried to air it, it still smelt of fags two weeks later.

The carpets were filthy, with a lot of very dodgy-looking stains but the standard of day-to-day cleanliness was fine. We were quite impressed with the cleaners but were disturbed to find that the 21 lev (quite a lot by Bulgarian standards) my son left on his bed when he went to breakfast had been pocketed by the cleaner when we got back. When we asked her about it she gave it back - we assumed she'd thought it was a tip but it wasn't our last day so it was a bit embarrassing.

The pool was a big hit with the children and loungers were free (although you did need to be quick with your towel to reserve them). However, the pool was in a poor state of repair and had many loose and missing tiles. By the second day my daughter had cut a flap of skin from her toe from a broken tile in the bottom of the pool and later in the week a boy had to get an ambulance to hospital to treat a gashed foot (I think that's been reported in one of the other reviews). The hotel did not have an accident book or first aider and this kind of thing seemed quite common.

The hotel didn't seem to have all the glossy facilities suggested in the brochures (and even in it's own literature int he hotel). I never found the excercise room and the table tennis table was broken and rotting under a tree by the pool.

The low point of our holiday was on the day before we left when we awoke at 6.40am to find our room door wide open and £2000 worth of camera equipment stolen from our room as we slept. It was very unnerving and upsetting, not least because we lost all our holiday photos. We reported it to the reception who rang the police for us but didn't get much help from the staff or reps. In fact, we were told not to bother reporting it as the police wouldn't do anything and we'd be wasting our time. We decided to go ahead and report it to help our insurance claim and had to walk quite a distance to the police station and wait over an hour in the baking sun (we experienced 40+ degree heat during our stay) until an interpreter came and we could make a report. We were given a case number and told that the police would investigate (which apparently was almost unheard of) and that our rep would need to go to the court and collect a certificate for our insurance claim. The theif was caught on the hotel's CCTV so we'll see if anything happens. By the time we left more stories of theft emerged and I heard that in the 14 nights we were there, there were 13 thefts.

Overall, the holiday was fine for the children but I found it a bit down-market and low on culture and entertainment. The food was cheap and generally quite tasty (although mainly fast food - there was little in the way of traditional Bulgarian fare or vegatables and no green salad to be had for love or money).

I wouldn't recommend the hotel and the resort as a whole wasn't really my thing but I can see that a lot of people would like Sunny Beach as a whole, especially stag and hen parties.

The atmosphere in the hotel by the time we left was very bad and reading the vitriolic comments in the comments book reflected the feelings of the guests - quite a contrast from those at the start of the book which were, like the ones on this website, very good. I don't know what's gone wrong, but something has really taken this hotel downhill.

I stayed here for 2 weeks and was very happy as we booked a last minute deal and did not know what apts we would arrive at had 2 teenagers who would have liked to be nearer the centre. staff were really nice if you took time to speak to them, only dont break any thing i.e glasses chairs ashtrays as you will pay for them!! Over all rooms were brilliant cannot fault them.
As for food if you order a steak at sunny day just remember to order chips as all you get is a steak and nothing else(hope you dont like veg as they dont seem to eat very much of it over there)
I would go back in a minute as its so relaxing.
reallly good night is Cahns Tent you get a five course meal and plenty of drink its a great show to see.Have also sen other reports on things going missing never had one missing item all the time we were there in fact i lost my camera at a night out and the rep managed to get it back.

I visited Bulgaria for the first time this year with my friend and stayed at the sunny day hotel. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Both myself and my friend are 20 however the hotel looks to suit all people of all ages needs.

The hotel itself is small in comparison to the big high rises that surround the area but this was most defiantly a bonus because it meant that you did not have to fight for a spot by the pool.

The rooms are very clean and have a TV and air-conditioning. The best part of my holiday was the hotel staff who where so very friendly and spoke very good English.

The hotel is situated a perfect distance from the beach (2 minutes) and right next to a 24 hour medical centre, a 24 hour shop and the bus stop.

The buses run every 15 minutes and are extremely cheap. Food and drink is also cheap. The pool was a little chilly but this was a blessing when the air temperature was 38-40C! This hotel and staff can not be faulted and help make my holiday a perfect two week.

Stayed at Suuny Day for two weeks.

On arrival at 4.00 am with two children we entered our room to find two maids sleeping in it, not a great start.

Breakfast was like a canteen.Food okay although you ordered a plain omelette and got burnt egg and bacon.

Hotel was clean, towels changed daily, sheets changed every three days.

The rooms had air conditioning a definite must have.

On a few occasions people's bags nearly got stolen by people just popping in to the hotel.Staff turned a blind eye.

The pool at first seemed okay but by the end of the fortnight it was falling apart, the tiles at the bottom of the pool could be collected like seashells at the beach.
Also we thought that with you not being allowed into the pool after eight that it was because it was being cleaned. Not a chance as we saw all you had to do was ask or tell the staff you were going in.
The so called lifeguards lay about sunbathing all day and when the pool was empty the all had a wee swim then went back to sunning themselves.Glassess and ashtrays were left everywhere. One wee girl had a coke in a glass bottle and she drop it she got charge 1lev not much I know but why not have plastic bootle and glasses.

The gym had one treadmill.

The staff bar two did not give a hoot all in it for a holiday. There was one apartment which they all stayed in and thought nothing of cavorting around trying to impress the other staff.

No entertainment at all except one Bulgarian night barbecue, not up to much. Music during the day was the choice of the staff for the wee ones (they had Now63, when asked to play this thay turned it down or skipped songs).

Will never go back to this hotel.

The location of the hotel was not for the faint hearted. You had to cross the main road to get to the beach. It had a pedestrian crossing that never worked, it was like playing dodgems and not funny.

We found this hotel to be very friendly. My three year old son was looked after on numerous ocassions by hotel staff who just loved him.

A lot of building work going on around hotel but this never bothered us.

Bar/restaurant does not close untill last guest leaves
one night was 5 am.

Rooms cleaned every day. Advice for anyone going to this hoel next year they will be extending this hotel but was told will be finished within a year.

Balkan brochure shows old photo of hotel there is currently 4 buildings not 3 will be 6 next season.

Would recomend this hotel and will be going back in 2007.

We went b&b but ended up having more than half our evening meals at our hotel as they really were good and we got what we ordered (sometimes a problem in Bulgaria!)

A bonus was we each got a free glass of good red wine and our son a free ice cream with each meal. The staff were incredibly helpful and our cleaner kept everything spotless.

The rooms are quite large and the air conditioning made all the difference. There are other (new) hotels around the site that are not shown in the brochure though.

We were not terribly impressed by the pool so we used the one at the nearby Condor Hotel quite a lot

Just got back from Sunny Day Hotel. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Our room was spotless and cleaned everyday.

The hotel swimming pool was a bit on the cold side but we were only 5 minutes walk from the beach you can swim in the sea which is a lot warmer. The beach was beautiful and clean.

You do not have a shower cubicle in the bathroom so the water from the shower runs all over floor not really a problem.

There is not any entertainment in the hotel at all but a 10 minute walk along the beachfront takes you to pubs and resturants where you can find entertainment.

The food in the hotel was fine but would recommend bed and breakfast only as there is not much of a choice.

Would definetly visit sunny beach again and would look at the avaliability of this hotel.

Sunny Day is about as good as you would expect for a 3 star rated hotel in Bulgaria. The reception area is small and clean and houses the safety deposit boxes which are adjacent to the reception desk.
The dining area is clean and comfortable and bar meals are served throughout the day. Breakfast is quite basic but there is plenty of choice, cooked food is mainly beans, potatoes and onions, hot dog style sausage and scrambled or fried eggs. There is also a cold buffet selection. Free coffee (very nice) and orange juice.

The hotel is located on a main road with a bus stop and taxi rank just outside. Although the road is busy there is very little traffic noise in the hotel. The beach is a 2 minute walk away and the resort centre about 10 minutes.

The rooms are quite large and airy. Beds are clean and comfortable. Air conditioning is spot on, although there are some condensation marks on the wall where the units are situated. Plenty of cupboard space, a couple of armchairs and the floor is carpeted. The double glazed windows are very good at keeping out poolside noise. The bathroom is good although there are no baths or shower trays. The water from the shower simply passes into a drain hole in the tiled floor, this can cause a problem if the drain is not well positioned as water can gather around the toilet base.

The staff on the whole are very friendly and polite (although one receptionist had an air of disinterest).
The maids are excellent and don't bother you if you put a 'do not disturb' sign on your door. The towels and linen are changed regularly but they do not make your bed (not that this was a problem) they replace the bottom sheet and the pillowcase and leave the rest folded on the bed.

The pool is okay but rather cold, although this didn't seem to bother the kids! There are plenty of sunbeds but they are the hard plastic type without any padding. The poolside bar is great and plays a wide selection of music throughout the day, the volume is turned right down about 8 p.m.

The exchange rate at the hotel was not as good as other hotels or the Crown Exchange booths (do not use the other exchange booths on the street as they never seem to give you the right amount and if you complain a couple of heavies seem to appear out of nowhere!)

On the whole I would highly recommend Sunny Day for what it is, a clean, comfortable, 3 star (Bulgarian rating) hotel.

Breakfast is buffet style so we always found something to please us all.

Only bad point was the amount of sun beds around the pool, some days we struggled to get one as there is a new part added to hotel. Short walk to beach so not a problem really.

Would visit hotel again.

Just returned from Sunny Day Hotel and apartments. The hotel is nice but needs some attention in some rooms.

Staff were nice.

If having breakfast toast and jam is a good idea because with it being buffet style flies are forever settling on food.

Unfortunately many of the children staying at the hotel the 2 weeks we were there came down with ear infections.
I reported this to the rep who had the pool water checked and the staff were constantly cleaning it afterwards. Bit of a coincidence I think.

I was fined 20 levs for a damaged slat in the blind of my room.

The real problem with this hotel is that they allow glasses and glass bottles to be taken around the pool area and on a few occasions some were smashed making it unsafe to walk around in bare feet but they did come and clean it straight away.

Different kinds of music played all day long making it very pleasant to sit around the pool. Air conditioning second to none.

This is more of a relaxing complex where the cleaners only clean your room when you are ready and the music only comes on when every one is awake (although Ive still got psychological issues from when the CD player stuck on Justin Timberlake for about 20 mins).

The staff are really nice and always have a smile for you (even when you ask them for the safe key 30 times per day).

The hotel is situated on the main road which runs parallel to the beach. You are 2 mins from a supermarket and 5 mins from the Beach and your nearest bottle of Corona.

If I ever went back to Bulgaria, which we are considering, then I would definately look at the availability for these apartments.

Oh and if you read this John...I enjoyed that fairwell bottle of becks on the airport transfer ;-)

Top class hotel with great staff. Have never stayed in a hotel where the cleaners are so efficient.

Breakfast could be a little bit better, but always found something. Bathrooms consist of a "wet-floor" drainage system which sometimes clogs back and floods the entrance carpet.

Other than that don't miss out and do try a massage with the lady based in the hotel.

5 mins walk to almost everywhere and based right on the main bus route to Nessibar.

We were very impressed with the hotel upon arrival, The room was spotless and very comfy, bathroom fantastic although the water does tend to leak through the door a bit not a problem though.

The rooms overlook the pool area which is lovely and double glazing keeps any noise out. The pool I have to say is freezing and this was in August and never got warmer so beware, the pool area is pleasant and enough sun beds.Overall I would recomend this hotel. There were 7 of us in the party so we shared 2 rooms. Our room was made up with two twins pushed together and connected and a fold down single bed chair thing.
In the room you will find towels which are changed every other day as are the sheets. You have a TV which has cartoon network mtv eurosport and euronews in english. Also you have a fridge but this turns off when you remove the door key as you leave room. A/C works off a different circuit so it stays on.

Pool is lovely and has plenty loungers. Staff are 2nd to none cleaners are brill.

Down side breakfast is poor all you hot food is cold and left out with the flies toast and Jam or Honey is a good bet.
Watch you dont brake anything as you will be charged. As I said staff are really good and friendly and keep the bar open as long as you need but if you want an early night the double glazing is very very good and you dont hear the merryment down below.

Excellent is all I can say. Very clean, the cleaners would even wait for us to get up (normally around midday) to clean the room. The food was really good and there is something for everybody (omelette or steak and chips for the unadventurous). The hotel is not in the centre (about 20-30mins walk along the front with plenty of shops to take your mind off the distance) which is good if you want a nights sleep, some of the bars in the centre stayed open all hours so it did get a bit rowdy in the early hours. There was a very good day bus service right outside the hotel, every 15 mins to the centre and Nessebur, the next resort down (well worth a visit) and there were small train things that went backwards and forwards to the centre. The taxis were cheap enough as well just agree a price before you get in. The staff were really friendly, willing to talk to whoever will listen and glad of the english lesson. There wasn't much night entertainment just a pool table and music, nice and cheap for a quiet night in though. As for visiting the hotel again - i can't wait.

Have just returned from Sunny Day Hotel,Sunny Beach. Hotel is lovely, although I could not find the fitness hall or sauna - would not have used them anyway but they are advertised in the brochure. Hotel was spotless, room immaculate, staff very friendly. An excellent holiday base, would definately stay there again when I return to Bulgaria. Only negative I can say is that there is no entertainment at all but there is a bar which does not close until the last person has gone to bed!. Thanks to all the staff for a wonderful holiday.

These apartments were brand new for May 2004, so we were prepared for some problem or other. We arrived in the early hours of the Sat morning, tired etc. We were shown to our apartment, which looked lovely, but when we looked from the balcony we could see the pool was not finished. The next day when we investigated the place it became apparant that there was no baminton court, no fitness room, no sauna, the kids play area was not up. We had no self catering facilities other than a kettle. We had paid for all these things as advertised in the Balkan brochure. People were very unhappy, we nearly all had children with us. Some peoples apartments were not as well finished off, with exposed wires etc. One apt leaked when we had rain. The apartments were not ready in their entirity, they had opened a month too soon, but this was the ultimate responsibility of Balkan and they will be getting bombarded with complaint forms. If anyone has any questions for these rooms/apartments before they travel, here is their e.mail address sunnyday_moreniabg@hotmail.com
