| said: Well we arrived after a very pleasant journey to our apartment. What a disappointment!
It really was very basic and dirty. Someone had quite obviously been ill in our toilet and it had not been cleaned, there was a big pile of rubbish under the sink and for some reason the fridge had been pulled out from under the units and left out.
The shower curtain was vile, it really made me want to be sick just to look at it. Too say I was unhappy was an understatement! I rang First Choice and asked to be moved. No joy, they were less than useless. I offered to pay to move, still no luck their attitude was 'its high season there is nothing we can do'
Yes they did offer to get the room cleaned but it would have still been very miserable looking and there was no way I was getting in that shower with that mould encrusted curtain.
Eventually, I spoke to the Manager who was very pleasant and helpful and she arranged to move us to another room which was an improvement but still not great.
I would never come here again.

| said: The apartments were large and well equipped and we had a wonderful sea view (with no supplement)! I imagine they may get a bit crowded in high season however.
The indoor pool was somewhat of a disappointment as it is not heated and therefore the same temperature as the outdoor one.
The manager was extremely kind and helpful so it was not too much of a problem that the reception was only open a few hours per day.
The proximity of the accommodation was a real bonus as we have 2 children so it was no problem to pop back to the room for anything we needed. Even with two pushchairs we didn't find the steep slopes mentioned a particular problem.

| said: We stayed in the Praia dos Aveiros apartments in the Praia d'Oura area. This is not a hotel, but a self-catering block of apartments situated 50 metres from the beach.
It has 2 swimming pools, one is indoor, and a garden area. There is a snack bar on the ground floor. It has three floors with studio apts in the centre, which are very spacious with separate kitchen, fully equipped and a full bathroom.
We loved it there and last year was our third visit. It is not suited to families, more for couples and there is a steep incline behind the building to get up to the resort centre, but is only about 50 yards up to the flat road. It is within a 10-15 minute walk to "the strip", where there is a variety of bars and restaurants. Night at the apartments are blissfully quiet, with only the sound of the sea.
Maid service was regular and clean towels provided every day beds changed twice weekly. There are no staff, other than at the small reception office, manned by one person.
Further more, I would like to emphasise, for the benefit of viewers, that the Praia dos Aveiros Apartments are purely self-catering, it is not an hotel.
The reception is a small office, manned by one person and is not open all the time. Your luggage is taken from the coach down to the office and returned to the coach when you go home. You will see very little of the receptionist during your stay.
I reiterate the comments made already about the quality of the apartments and their locale. A lovely place.

The apartments are huge though I get the feeling that a lot of them are privately owned and rented out by First Choice. Right on the beach what more can I say it's quite rare to get a hotel right on the beach.
The hill maybe a problem for some people as it's quite steep and if you transfer from the airport by coach that drop you off at the top of the hill and the hotel owner takes your bags back up for you when you leave.
Reception is only open for a couple of hours a day which can be a bit of a problem.
There is a lovely restaurant right on the beach (family run) but it does tend to close quite early.
It's a beautiful place and would definitely go there again and my kids had the best holiday ever, even though there was no entertainment for them there were lots of other kids and they made their own.

| said: In the apartment that we stayed in, it was self catering so we had to make our own food. There was a little cafe by the swimming pool which did sell food such as sandwiches and drinks but they stopped selling food a few days after we had been there.
The hotel was quite clean but the cleaners were quite impolite. The location where we stayed was very nice because it had a beautiful view of the sea and the rocks. It had it own private beach which wasn’t all that clean but nice to look at. This was the thing that I disliked about the accommodation was the big hill as you go out of the apartments to walk to the strip.
You don’t really see any hotel staff only when you arrive and when you depart. There was no entertainment at all the hotel and not much to do for children. The near by old town had things to do and to watch if you travel out of abufaria on the one of the organised trips such as water parks, (slide and splash)dolphin swimming at (zoo marine).
I also enjoyed the (jeep safari) I would most definitely want to visit this hotel again.
