Our second stay in Ubud and the second gem we found. I absolutely loved this place- one of my favourite places I've ever stayed at. This was our third hotel of our holiday and we had splashed out on top rooms in the first two so had decided that as we were only there 3 nights we would go for the first grade of accomodation. This is deluxe. For 50 $US a night you can upgrade to a pool room which has its own splash pool.
The grounds are stunning. It is unbelievable that the hotel is on Monkey Forest Road in Ubud, which is busy, and you walk into an oasis of calm, with views on to rice fields.
Our room was large. Our bed was a big four poster with mosquito netting. Behind it was a large window shelf with lamps at each side. At night you came back to find a bottle of water at each side, two soft nightshirts and a bedtime story:)( a little bit of story re Bali history)Also in the room was a seating area at the bottom of the bed, a window seat, a table and chair, TV, dvd and selection of cds, safe, jar of cookies( which were lovely) and different fruit put out each day. There was a hairdryer and a large umbrella- Ubud is in the mountain area and can get some rain. The minibar prices were very reasonable. Outside we had our own small private walled garden with a table and two chairs and a lounger. By the front door was our little fish pond. Our bathroom was huge and the shower area was in the open. (The rest under the roof though- which I much preferred to the more open air bathroom we had last year in Ubud)Lots of lovely little glass bottles with shower and bath goodies. there are dressing gowns and slippers.
They also provided adapters, mosquito plug in and coil for outdoors.
Breakfast was included and there were about 8 different menus for it so you will definitely find something you like.
The pool area is just stunning. It is an infinity pool and you overlook rice fields with lots of tropical vegetation inbetween.
Afternoon tea and Balinese cake is provided free of charge every afternoon.
The staff are first class.
There is WiFi at reception, as well as free use of the laptop. Also in reception are a wide range of books to borrow and also music and chess sets etc.
In my report in the Far East forum there will be a link to photos from the hotel.
We will return to Ubud and it will definitely be to here. I'm not even sure if I would upgrade.
