We booked through Thomson Plus, so the taxi transfer was invaluable as we landed after midnight and were in our room inside half an hour. This hotel is German owned and run impeccably. Most of the guests are mature and German, but most of the management spoke better English than us. Loads of staff who were polite, friendly, and couldn't do enough for you. The hotel has seven floors but very fast lifts (Schindler's Lifts would you believe?) and is a nice size. It's far nicer than most of the nearby hotels which cover enormous amounts of ground, and where we got lost when we visited. Thomson don't use their most expensive rooms, obviously, but they are very pleasant, quiet (carpeted) and clean - towels changed twice a day. Food was terrific most of the time (not so good on Chef's night off), with such an extensive buffet breakfast that we never needed lunch. You could have anythying from a full English breakfast cooked in front of you, through to quality continental cold meats, any sort of eggs, fruits, cheeses, cereals etc etc all on the patio, as much and as often as you wanted, and washed down with cold Cava. We were pigs for three days, and then became more selective. Dinner was a nice restaurant twin choice menu alternating nights with a patio barbeque as extensive as the breakfast. Not much going on in the evenings. Always live music in the bars, but usually a bit grim - standard holiday music, and we are a bit middle-aged. Very expensive drinks (well it is a 5* hotel). Glad to go back to the room and sit on the balcony for drinks - there's a small supermercardo 30 seconds from the front door for your own supplies! It's only 3 or 4 minutes from the sandy beach (very near and not the 20 minute walk we've seen reported elsewhere) but we stayed poolside most of the time because it's so civilised. Not a stick of plastic furniture ANYWHERE! A lunchtime walk to a bar was about all we could manage. The local stalls and eateries are fine, but we give a big NoNo for the shopping malls - they're rubbish. The sandy beach is gynormous and hot. The world and his wife all try to walk round the shore to Playa del Ingles, and most give up. Take lots of water with you. Christmas, Easter, and high season are the busy periods, but in June it's only 2/3 full. We felt very comfortable and relaxed. The wife says not to tell everyone all this now because she wants to go back again, and it might just be too busy!

With there being no reports on this hotel I must let everyone know what a fabulous hotel this is. Sorry it has taken two years for me to write this, but had never checked this page before. I never usually go back to the same hotels, always like to try something different, but this year hubby and I are going back. We were originally booked for H10 Playa Meloneras and the day before flying were told this was over booked and we were being transfered to the Palm Beach. I was furious because the holiday had been booked for 6 months and being half term I thought it would only be rubbish that was left. Well was I wrong. The rooms, pool area and food (never had the quality of food and service in any 4 or 5 star hotel I have ever been to)
were the best ever. This is a german hotel and there were not many brits, but this didn't bother us. Not a lot for children either, but ours have grown up, so this suited. There is a lovely adult pool amongst the palm trees and brine pool which are heated to 30 degrees, pure bliss. We did have a peep at the playa meloneras hotel and although nice was not a patch on the Palm Beach. Also the sand dunes were on our doorstep, cut through a lane and we were there. Meloneras itself is a lovely upmarket area with lots of cafes and bars along the prom. Best area I have been to in all of 30 years going abroad.
