What The Brochures Say:
Balkan Holidays 2004
This small luxurious hotel offers an excellent standard of accommodation and friendly and attentive service. Situated in a peaceful location with impressive views you are only a short taxi drive away from the hustle and bustle of Golden Sands for those who want a lively night out. You can reach the beach by a public lift located some 40 metres from the hotel (not in service at the start and end of the season).

never again was the first time i had travelled on my own so was looking for a stress free holiday. On my first day there was no water in hotel for 18hours third day no water for 8hours fifth day no water for 4hours. hotel gave out large botteles of water to wash in as i was on third floor no one offered to carry it up for me and i couldnt even lift it another hotel guestcarried it up for me.Breakfast was basically eggs with a two slot toaster which hardly ever worked.Iwas half board but ate out with other guests as meals were choice of two and always cold pizza n chips. If it was not for the very nice people i met there i would have been on the first flight home.Has put me off holidaying on my own as i was only a small voice but there was never any staff on duty to listen anyway. My bed was never made in a week let alone changed as for towels well that really didnt matter as we couldnt wash anyway.stay clear.

When we first arrived at hotel Gardia, we were warmly greeted by the staff who then carried our baggage up the stairs to our room. I must say, immediately, my partner and I were impressed with the size/ decor/ cleanliness/ balcony view of our room.

Everything about this hotel was clean, the beds were made daily along with regular sheet changing and cleaning of the room/bathroom.

We only had a shower in our bathroom which was not stated in our room description, however this wasn't too much of a problem.

We went bed and breakfast at Hotel Gardia and depending on what food you're into will determine whether you will enjoy the breakfasts on offer here.

They offer a buffet style cooked breakfast which includes mainly continental delicasies (ie not a typical English fry up!)and this wasn't my cup of tea, however, bread and jam was fine by me!

This is our second visit to the Gardia the first was in 2002.

The hotel is friendly and clean, the rooms are done each day and clean bedding regular.

This time we had bad weather so the hotel having nothing for the kids made it hard, but the cartoon network on telly was a godsend.

We were a large party so made our own entertainment in the sky bar. The cost of going into Golden Sands by taxi is about 15lev so still cheap and the hotel has a mini bus that takes you to different places for 1.5 lev.

The pool is small but big enough for the amount of people in the hotel. The food is great and Naz and Alex the barmen make a mean coffee.

A great hotel for a relaxing holiday and not too far if you fancy a lively night, will be back again.

The hotel was first class. The staff couldnot do enough to help, especially Nas the barman - he was brilliant (found it hard to adjust back to having to fetch and carry for myself now I'm back home!!)

All the staff were exceptionally friendly and although there were some obvious language barriers, everyone tried really hard to help when approached. The rooms were spotless and attended every day with clean towels daily (thanks very much to all the cleaning staff).

Can't fault the food, Tim & Co in the restaurant were always on the ball. One small complaint would be the size of the pool (it is quite small), but with the Black Sea only a 10 minute walk away (the cable car was broken - on looking at it, probably not a bad thing!) it wasn't too much of a problem.

Another small down side is the location - about a 5/10 minute taxi ride into the heart of Golden Sands (depending on the recklessness of the driver!) and a 20 lev charge for a return trip, this isn't such a big deal either.

Entertainment is limited to pool in the sky bar (great views) and the night club in the basement, which is just really an extention of the sky bar. But if you're looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday, and are happy poolside or on the beach, this is the perfect location.

We were lucky as our son (age 10) only wants to swim, so he was easy to accomodate!

The hotel is very clean, the rooms are large, balconies
all have a sea view.

The staff are all very good and cant do enough for guests.the food is good.

The location is a little too far out of the main resort but a local beach is about a ten min walk.

The only entertainment is a sky bar with a pool table and a small nightclub on the lower ground floor.

The only reason I would not return is that there isnt enough going on for children, but for adults the Gardia is fine.

The Gardia is wonderful. The staff cannot do enough for you. The place is spotless. The views are spectacular, and food is delicious. Night times are a treat, to sit in the Sky Bar at night and watch the stars and listen to the sea was blissful. Entertainment was only a short taxi ride away if we felt like being more adventurous, but staying in the hotel bar was the perfect way to finish off a busy day!! We are back again in July 06 and cannot wait.

Having visited this hotel for two years running we have always found it excellent. The hotel and gardens including the pool are very clean. We stay in a family room which in effect is a suite. one double bedroom, plenty of fitted wardrobe space, lounge/kitchen area with mini bar (cheap prices) double sofa bed for children. The balcony area with the family room is huge plenty of room for all the family. Unfortunately now the children are older this year we will not be booking to stay at the Gardia as the location is isolated, and I feel kids will be a little bored.

However if you are looking for a really nice hotel in a quite area the Gardia is a must.
