Started off rather bad with a day and a half I was notified that my son’s friend was unable to come away with us
Due to the fact that he told his football club 4 days before that he was going away of which they said don’t come back if you do
As it is a pro club and he is on a two year contract he did not come of which I can understand
But what I could not understand was that neither he nor his parents did not inform the club he was going away sooner
So after frantically trying to get a replacement of which we could not due to the short notice it was just the 3 of us
Luckily he made some friends of both sexes :)
Anyway on with the holiday report
Arrived at Mahon airport after one hour delay on flight from Gatwick due to refuelling (never knew it took that long ha ha)
Got a taxi to Roc Lago Park apartments for €65
Only to be told (yes you have guessed it) we have a problem you have been double booked for the first night
I was aware this was going to happen so was expecting it.
After a bit of negotiations I got the safety deposit box for free rather than 2 days half board that was offered
The next day we moved into our 2 bedded apartment that was looking straight out to the marina room number 1315 if anyone wants to ask on arrival, could not have asked for a better position in the complex
On the last day managed to persuade them to let me have the room all day as we had a 10pm flight home
This was the worst flight we have ever been on due to the 20 -30mins of the worst turbulence we have ever experienced
The plane was all over the place flying over France and I thought I was going to meet my maker at one point :)
Room
Was basic but clean and tidy and lets be honest what more do you need as I was not planning on spending that much time in there anyway
So it was more than adequate
Only found the odd ant so no problem there
Weather
Was reported of being 45 degrees some days but in general in the 30’s
We had a couple of days where it rained for about 10 mins at a time but then the Sun was back out shortly
A few cloudy parts of some days too but it was a welcome relief as being very hot it did not worry us at all
Cleaning
Was fine as kept clean and tidy by the maids a few times a week
What more do you need
Entertainment
Was not the best but in apartments it generally isn’t and expected this
As the marina kept us busy and entertained most nights
But Suzanna, Yvonne and Joris done a great job throughout the whole of the long day they worked
And did put some worthwhile performances of what we did see
Eating out
Well what can I say some fantastic restaurants we ate in
La Fontana for us was the best of a very good bunch
Great full English
Steak cooked to perfection
Bolognese pizza out of this world
Spag Bol and Lasagne to die for
El Pato great Steak and Fish also paella was good
Mr Jaume as above
El Pescador Spanish omelette was quite bland but ok
Legends great Sunday Lunch plus they had the footie on too :)
Toro Negro was good but about the most expensive of the lot we ate in
Picola was ok too
Chinese buffet was ok but we were the only ones in there
The Pool
On arrival I thought oh dear it’s too small
But found that it was ok in the end as once you were in the pool plenty of room for water polo against some of our Dutch friends
We never had to get up too early to get a sun bed
8 o clock and I was generally one of the first
No ants what so ever round the pool that I could see but I must admit I was not looking for ants as I was on holiday :)
Got used to the egg mayonnaise smell after a while :)
Overall
We had a fantastic stay at The Roc Lago Park
The location in my opinion could only be matched by the Casa Del Lago which looked lovely apartments of which I will stay in one day very soon I think
The water park although small was nice
Although I have seen lots of complaints about the Roc Lago Park after my experience I would actually recommend the place as there were only ever minor irritations in my opinion so did not spoil my holiday at all
Cala n Bosch is a lovely place to visit and I look forward to going back in the next couple of years

| said: Rooms are small and basic but clean, small balconies on 1 bed 1st floor apartments but big enough for table and chairs. Big bonus is FREE air conditioning in living area and bedroom and also FREE tv. Kitchen area has cooking rings and microwave with grill and a fridge.
We booked 14 nights self catering but took advantage of the offer they had for half board (€13 adult, €6.50 children) for 7 days - evening meals were ok for the price and breakfasts were lovely.
Entertainment was mostly provided by the animation team though about 3 nights out of 7 they had professional acts.
Pool area is clean but very cramped due to the size of the pool (medium) and the amount of people there.
The location of these is apartments is great - very central and overlooking the lovely marina, the beach is 5 minute walk away.
I would go back to these apartments but would contact them prior to my visit as they overbooked and we had to stay elsewhere for the first two days of our holiday and this seemed to be a common occurence!

| said: The apartment was a 2 bedroomed apartment which was big enough. It was very basic but you get what you pay for! There was a musty smell when we arrived but we were there early in the season and its possible we were first occupants of the season. We wanted a 2 bedroomed apartment so we could still watch telly and have a drink after kids in bed.
There was a small kitchen area with 2 hobs, toaster and microwave. There was air con in main bedroom and living area, not in kids room but as we went in May it was cool enough at night not to need it.
The apartments were above the marina and were quite spread out with walkways and garden areas between them all. They were all 2 bedroomed apartments downstairs with open terrace and 1 bedroomed apartments upstairs with large balcony. It was generally very quiet although we did have a problem with 3 men who were in apartment next door who made a lot of noise at night with music and shouting. I complained to the manager and it did stop the noise to an extent. I think this was just bad luck though, I dont think it is the norm to get younger single sex groups on holiday in Calan bosch.
The pool was good it was a basic rectangle, but it has a large paddling pool end which is ideal for babies and toddlers. The sunloungers were plastic and uncomfortable. A lot were broken. There were plenty of umbrellas. We never had any problem getting sunloungers.
We had to pay for a cot and there was no room for it. We had to turn one of the single beds on its side to accomodate it.
The entertainment was very poor generally. The animacion team were all leaving as the manager would not provide new equipment such as balls and pens and pencils for the kids club.I was very dissapointed by the lack of entertainment for the kids. They did have afew good professional tribute bands on like the Beatles, Diana Ross and Tom Jones. Greece show was good too. All noise was over by 12 then it was generally nice and quiet.
There was only sky news english channel on TV.
