| said: We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights, 2 full days. When we arrived at the hotel we were met by very friendly staff, some particularly the doorman in traditional dress.
We checked into our room and were given a voucher for a free welcome drink in the bar.
Our room was fine, on the 21st floor with a view of the river. All the things you would expect from a high rated hotel - shampoos, shower gel, hairdryer, Tv, bath robes, air con, comfortable bed, separate shower and bath.
The hotel room was very comfortable. The maid service was good too and they were very friendly. As part of their tip we left them our remaining cakes from our afternoon tea at the Oriental - we hope they enjoyed them!
We ate in 2 of the hotels restaurants - the chinese on the 4th floor on our first evening and 'the cafe' which served either a la carte Thai food or a buffet on the lobby floor. We had the a la carte menu which had excellent food at good prices - slightly more than out in Bangkok but still reasonable.
The free drink in the bar tasted of ribena - there wasn't any choice of drink, and you only got the free popcorn when you ordered 'proper drinks'. We had a couple of drinks each evening in the bar, although the girl singing as part of the band would probably not have got Simon Cowell's vote!
All in all the hotel was excellent, yes its a few kilometres out of town, but the hotel do provide a courtesy bus to the skytrain and taxis are so cheap.
However if we were to go again to Bangkok we probably would stay at a hotel closer to the centre.
