The hotel is in a really good position, only a 5-10 minute walk to the strip, yet very quiet at the hotel.
Would advise to book a room with pool view as these were very quiet. The apartments are very spacious and modern, take a travel kettle with you, as stated in other reviews theirs take forever to boil. minimum cooking facilities really but they do have a microwave/oven. Couldnt fault the staff or hotel for cleanliness or friendliness. something on most nights if you didnt want to go out.

Visited the Dom Pancho in June 2008 with a last minute deal through travelrepublic.co.uk Arrived by shuttle bus which is a transfer option when you book online, this was great as there were only two other drop offs then ourselves, more or less a taxi.

The Dom Pancho is very centrally located, good reasonably priced supermarket only 2 min walk very well stocked, bakery, butcher area 5 min walk to bars and good restaurants. We had a studio, and we were pleasantly surprised how big it was, although we didn't get a pool view as requested, and were told at reception that a pool view is a chargeable option, however this wasn't an option when we booked on-line.

Anyway apartments were spotlessly clean and I understand the whole hotel has had a complete refurbishment in 2007, you could tell, as all furniture was new and kitchen units, new shower etc, so very good. We did meet some friends who had a 1-bed apt, very spacious.

The hotel staff were pleasant, although didn't have a lot of contact with them. Pool good, deep end very deep although pretty cold, pool area grassed very pleasant, and although watered every morning was not sodden as heard on previous reviews, pool side showers, no rush for sunbeds, we could come down on a morning at around 9.30 and there would be hardly any towels out so got a good choice although it was only June but reception did say the hotel was fully booked when I asked for a pool view !!!!. Staff not bothered about sunbeds being reserved with towels and no people on them like in some hotels, well not that we saw anyway.

Pool area very quiet during day, didn't always play music in bar area, which is also pleasant and all shaded if you want a break from the sunshine, bar prices a bit more expensive that the local bars but not much around 3 euro for a large beer. Lifts to all floors which I think there are 4 or five.

Facilities in apartment good, although fridge wasn't very cold, hob and grill took ages to heat, added bonus there was a telly in the room at no extra cost had ITV, BBC1, and Sky news, good while Euro 2008 champs were on or to watch how miserable the weather was back home. You only have to pay 15 euros deposit if you wanted a remote control and that is refundable, same price for the air con remote which is also refundable, but you must need that for the AC to work.

Maid service was normal we were there 5 nights and had towels changed a couple of times but not bedding and the floor was washed daily and bin emptying. On the whole this hotel was very good value for money. Would recommend.

Having just spent a week at the Dom pancho there isn't one thing that makes it awful, but lots of little things mean that I wouldn't visit again. Albufeira is lovely and there are many much better places to stay than the Dom Pancho. The rooms are ok, the kitchen equipment is very basic with very little equipment and utensils. The cleaners come round between 4-6pm so if like us you have children and want to be in your room at that time of day, it will never be cleaned. If you are lucky enough to get a cleaner, the towels are only changed every 4 days and you have to buy your own toilet rolls as they are vey mean with them. The hotel is only 10 minutes walk from the strip but considerably farther from the beach whatever the brochures tell you. Probably the worse thing was the pool area. It is surrounded in grass and is heavily watered every night so very soggy. There are over 260 apartments at the hotel and just over 30 sun loungers! Lots of arguments with people nearly getting physical over them. When people have a moan at reception they receive a shrug. People are forced to lie on the soggy grass. Unless you reserve your sunbeds at about 7am and sit on them you have no chance. it was appalling. it is supposed to be 3*.The bar opens when they feel like it. The gym is charged at 25 euros for 6 days and is supposed to be open for 7 hours a day. ha ha! Opens when they can be bothered and is very poorly equipped. You have to pay for the TV remote control in the rooms which is so mean and the Air conditioning. The entertainment is absolutely dire. Don't bother! Go and find some paint to watch dry.Even though we had requested a pool view room we didn't get one. We got one at the back. Beware! The dustmen empty the bins every morning at 4am, it takes 10 minutes and is so noisy it sounds like bombs are being dropped outside the window.
All in all a lovely resort but a not very lovely hotel. Our overall impression was penny pinching. Certainly doesn't deserve its 3* status. This was our second visit to Albufeira as we love it there, but not at the Dom Pancho.

The Dom Pancho was excellent in all ways, clean and tidy, the staff were mostly all friendly except for the male reception staff. The entertainment was good on a couple of the nights, but the main problem being, that there was a notice board at reception which was hardly ever used and never updated. The restuarant downstairs was really good - but hardly used as very few people were aware it was even there. It wasn't shown on the notice board and again the reception weren't very forthcoming with any details(ask downstairs they said). The pool area although small was kept very clean and the snack bar was all that was required through the day. The apartments were well situated, 5 mins from everything. The only bad thing, the towels were only changed every 4th day and the sheets only once in 2 weeks!! But we have recommended the Dom Pancho and will be going back next year.

This is a friendly, clean aparthotel which is very near to all the amenities, i.e supermarkets, bars and restaurants without actually being on the noisy STRIP.

The staff are very accommodating and speak very good English.

The pool & surrounding area very good for families but too busy for my liking (do appreciate I went in August though).

The bathroom was rather dim and the light fittings could have done with a clean and brighter bulbs. The shower head was awful, never been descaled and the water just came out in a big blob! I would have liked the towels to have been changed a bit more frequently (only every 4 days) and the worst of all - no fan in a windowless toilet/bathroom!! The kitchen was also very dark and oppressing and the equipment had certainly seen better days.

Just arrived back from 2 weeks at the Dom Pancho Hotel in Albufeira. The Hotel is well located, very basic but clean. It is getting refurbished winter 2006.

Problem with noisy fridge on first night replaced with brand new fridge immediately. We were well impressed.

Hotel spacious and comfortable. We read that if you did not have a pool view, you had a building site view, this is not so, the view we had was looking over Albufeira (Yes, some building work going on in background)but view lovely and it was quiet and peaceful. No sun on balcony was the only complaint.

Hotel is very clean, we had pool views, maids came everyday. No complaints there.

Entertainment is quite poor, but was ok for a last drink before bed.

The pool was great we got beds every day with no problems, the kids loved it, very big with a baby pool separate, snack bar always open by pool.

Hotel rooms where a good size and very clean, furniture is bamboo or cane, you can have air conditioning for 25 euro returnable when checking out, a must as the weather was quite hot

Staff were always very friendly.

Rooms basic but reasonably clean on arrival. Rooms cleaned between 5pm and 6pm just when you are getting showered ready for the night out, towels changed once in the week bedding not at all.

Didn't eat here at night only once in the day.

Miles away from the beach( not signposted)and miles from the old town with a 1 mile walk to the tourist train.

Rooms not overlooking the pool are overlooking building sites that start work at 8am(noisily)

Staff are not very friendly or helpful and no room changes are available as the timeshare guests get the best.

Entertainment was the same singer 4 times in one week hard to decide between comedy or serious.

After a pleasant enough flight we arrived at the Dom Pancho and checked into our room. It was like going back in time. Furniture very old and dated (1970's) and the room itself was most definitely not 3 star rating. The floor and wall tiles were cracked and broken and the bathroom/toilet area needed gutting out and refurbished. Complained to the main reception desk but was told there was no better room in the hotel. The next morning we complained to the tour rep. who did her best to get us moved to a better room but only after rejecting another which was just as bad (both of these rooms were on the top floor).

Cleaning takes place every day but is just a quick mop of the floors and the bins getting emptied and a new toilet roll being delivered. Beds get changed every week and towels changed every four days. This is not 3 star material.

Hotel location was acceptable with plenty of bars etc 10 mins walk away and decent places to get food - go to laners on the main road outside the hotel, their breakfast is great.

Staff were friendly enough after our encounter with reception the first night and the pool area was more than adequate.

Just back from a week at the Dom Pancho with my sister, booked 2 weeks previously.

We found the hotel and the room clean, the cleaners only missed us once out of the days they were supposed to visit.

The pool area is larger than we expected, - it could use a few more sunbeds, but at least they are free.

We found the staff very helpful and friendly (although we didn't have any complaints for them to deal with).

The location is good - small supermarket across the road, 10 mins to Strip, 15 mins to tourist train to Old Town, 20 mins walk to beach, tourist info place and bus stop about 5 mins walk if you turn left at end of drive.

We didn't attend the hotel entertainment - there are so many bars in the area that you don't need it, however, our room was on the ground floor, and we could hear the "entertainment" late and loud on the night we had a 5am start!

We were looking for a cheaper holiday for a wee break so we went to see Ava at John Semples in Bishopbriggs and Ava got us a very good price to the Algarve, and we thought it's basic but it's cheap. We had amazing service from Ava.

The flights were great and well the tranfers were very easy and straight forward and on time, but best of all was the Dom Pancho.

It was very very clean, good size apartments.

Food was great and the prices were well worth it.

All the staff were more than happy to help us with anything.

The pool area was a good size, clean, neat and tidy.

The resort was so clean and friendly. The bars and restaurants were fantastic. We tried every food from chicken n chips to Indian they were all delish.

Overall one of our best holidays yet and can't wait to go back to book a great deal again with Ava.

The apartments are fairly basic with 2 cooking rings and a mini oven. The sofa bed could do with re-covering but everything was clean.

The staff are friendly and the pool is brilliant, although cold in April!!!

Our apartment was overlooking the pool and the balcony is a reasonable size, although only 2 chairs for 3 of us but it does have a washing line, which is handy.

There was entertainment every night which sounded quite good, but we always went out.

They also had a tourist menu in the restaurant for 10 euros which was excellent value, but again we didn't use it. I'm not sure why not really!!

The Dom Pancho is only a few minutes walk from the strip and about a 15-20 minute walk to the beach. Supermarket opposite is handy with most things you need. There is also a much larger supermarket (Maraschino’s) turn left and it is on the right hand side, going towards the beach.

We went with our 2 year old daughter and another couple who had a 3 year old son. I would recommend this hotel for a family.

It was a nice quite hotel, and our room was really nice. We had a huge balcony overlooking the pool, which was great for the children to play on. (Also very safe)

However our friends were across the hall, in a small pokey room with a tiny balcony that over looked bins. They spend most of their time in our room. Needless to say, they weren’t impressed!!

I found the hotel to be really clean, with maid service most days, the days they didn’t visit our rooms, we just asked for clean towels and were given them, no problem. Our room was spacious and basic but clean.

I didn’t think the entertainment was up to much, but then maybe it was the time of year. (September) The bar however is really big, with plenty of room for the children to run about. The pool also had a grass area around it rather than tiles, which I found great for the children, no chance of slipping.

I would recommend this hotel to any family, but would definitely suggest trying to get a room at the front of the hotel overlooking the pool, as they seem to be the only ones with a big balcony, and a high enough wall around it, for safety.

The hotel staffs are really nice, Its within walking distance to most things, although the beach was a bit of a trek, but in that weather, a walk is beautiful. There is a small supermarket a stone throw away from the front door, which had everything we needed.

On arrival we were quite dissapointed to find that each of our famalies were given villas instead of hotel rooms, but we think that we were the lucky ones. We had our own air conditioning system on our balcony that we could operate using a remote control. Unfortunately this air conditioning has probably put the mockers on every other holiday we will have because it was absolutely fantastic!

The villas were quite clean and basic and they needed a touch of paint here and thereand the stable type front door was in bad need of repair. One push and it was open(without using a key).

Otherwise we had no complaints and being as the villas were a minutes walk to the pool we were in the better accomadations.

Room was clean but basic and a bit tired; was in need of redecorating. There were decorators working in the communal areas so I presume there will be an improvement in the apartments.

The pool area was nice and not too busy at this time of year.

Staff were helpful and polite.

Only visited the bar a couple of times so can only comment on our experience, the entertainment wasn't that great but with so many other bars nearby this was not a problem.

WE did not pay a lot for our stay so for cheap accomodation it was value for money and we would stay there again

we stayed in the dompancho in may 2004.we didnt find the hotel particually clean and when you walked into the room there was always a funny smell epecially the drains in the bathroom area.We stayed for two weeks and only had our bed sheets changed once and didnt have clean towels like it said. The location of the hotel was quite good because there is alot of lovely resturants near by without always having to go onto the strip and having timeshare louts pestering you.
The entertainment could of been alot better especially for children there is nor club or daily activities for any age.We would go to the algave again bewcause it is a lovely place with much nicer hotels than the dompancho but we would deffinitley not stay there again.

We booked a one bed apartment for 63 nights. On arrival we were told that our apartment wasn't available until the following day.

We were directed to a cold grubby studio flat for that night. There was no help offered with luggage. The bed linen was not changed regularly. The cooking facilities within the hotel were totally inadequate and the dining table design trapped food crumbs between the glass top and the bamboo trim making it impossible to clean the table properly.

Wednesday evenings entertainment was advertised as an extravaganza. This turned out to be two games of bingo, a quiz and two more games of bingo!

On the plus side, the Dom Pancho is close to some good eating places and close to The Strip.

There was a handy supermarket with a good range of food and wine.

The pool area was pleasant with ample sun loungers.
