This hotel is situated right next to the chemical works at Grangemouth which is not mentioned anywhere in the brochure (I wonder why!). Once inside the hotel you are unable to see the works, but knowing that they are there and seeing the billows of smoke does not make for a relaxing stay.

The hotel was clean and the housekeeping staff did a great job. Front of house staff were friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them. Staff at breakfast were at most polite, however they did not seem to understand the word friendly or cheerful.

Breakfast was served lukewarm, presentation left a lot to be desired and the buffet part of breakfast was constantly running out and the pastries were either overcooked or undercooked. Breakfast was charged at nearly £16 and if it hadn't been included we would certainly not have paid for this. On the second day we waited for over half an hour before we were even asked if we required hot drinks. Certainly not the service I had expected at a MacDonald hotel.

All in all due to location and service (or lack of it) we would not visit this hotel again nor recommend anyone else to use this hotel.
