We've just arrived back from Taba and have had a wonderful time. The hotel is spotless and very impressive.Food was good,a choice for most tastes, beef joints, chicken etc all cooked to perfection. The hotel is situated near the red sea mountains so it's very picturesque, also you have the coral and sea life to hand and own salt lake.Staff were the best i've known, the entertainment was poor but didn't spoil our hols at all.

We have been to Taba Heights at another hotel before and were happy with the quiet location of the resort.
The hotel was very nice to look at and stood out amongst the others with its charactorand unusual salt water lagoon feature.
It was relatively clean but the main reception area has no air conditioning which makes it very uncomfortable to cool down and relax with a drink.
The staff from waiters, barstaff, cleaners and pool attendants were very friendly, but considerably overworked and sometimes our rooms were not getting cleaned until 5-6pm!!
the Hotel entertainment was mediocre with the same two bands one egyptian and the othermodern songs operating alternatively but very repetitive!

The food was at best below average and from visiting three five star hotels in Egypt all inclusive before in recent years that this one is operatingunder false pretences , first of all the restaurant was too small, and huge queues happened at lunch and evening meals, with the staff and guests getting frustrated, The food quality was repetitive and abysmal, with the Bread rolls offering more variety of choice.if you want plenty of British vegetable type casseroles in the smmer heat, with cheap cuts of meat or liver this is for you!
They normally had one joint of meat on display(very small) and a queue was immediately formed with people desperate for a piece of one slice only unless you insisted , with the chefs most relutant.
there was a kiddies corner which offered sausages sometimes cold and crisps as a main meal!

on more than one occasion they ran out of meat, and we had to just have vegetables .

no i wont be visiting this hotel again, it was the worst food i have ever had at a holiday hotel, we complained to the right people and it fell on deaf ears.,
Also the crazy golf course was ovrgrown and unkempt and abandoned.

The hotel was fab. It is really modern and is breathtaking. Everywhere you went there were people on hand cleaning, there were even cleaners waiting outside the toilets all the time.

The room we had was massive, it has a huge bed, camp bed for my son ( 2.5yrs) and a cot for my daughter (9mts), the rooms were cleaned to a high standard every day. We were on the ground floor and there was no noise.

The food was not the best but it compered well to the other All Inclusive resorts we've stayed in in egypt. There was always plenty of choice. The brochure stated that there was a childrens menu at meal times but this consisted of either chips of crisps with 1 other choice. Not really a menu!!

The staff in the hotel were very helpful and friendly and very good with the children. The entertainment on the night consisted of dancer, singers, belly dancers, they rotated between the nights, but it was fine and kept us amused.

Hotel was massive, best i have ever stayed at, all in all the hotel was fantastic the weather was great, food was terrible, and the entertaintment if thats what u would call it is for the over 50's, i am 34 and my wife is 30 we were bored silly after 3 days, there is only a couple of shops there so u cant buy a english paper, packet of crisps, nothing...taba is a military airport so its the smallest you will ever see, check point everywhere about 45 minutes in coach from the airport, resort small and just 5 hotels with beaches. Wont go again but shame as the hotel and staff were excellent....

This was our 1st holiday on an All Inclusive basis..and what a hotel to break our duck. The arrival at the airport was an eyeopener. On disembarking the plane we were placed on to a coach for the 20 second journey to the arrivals lounge. This happens because Taba Airport is a military one and is very security conscious. Once in the arrivals hall all hell lets loose as there are 2 queues, 1 for those waiting to get there visas and one for those that were smart enough to do it before travelling out. Once through security we made our way outside to find the reps............be advised .....because this is a military airport the reps are not allowed into the airport itself. Also be warned that once you have left the arrivals hall you can not return back inside to use the toilets so go before leaving the plane,as the ones in the airport are very basic!!!!!!!!!!! On to the coach for the 40min convoy with police escort to the hotel. On arrival at the hotel WOW!!!!. Immaculately clean reception and porters there to take your luggage to your room. Reception staff very helpful but be advised that they will ask and keep your passport for 24 hours.

Up to the room............spectacular....over looking the pool and beach. When we arrived it was dark so could not see much but we were not to be disappointed the following morning. The rooms are spacious and clean and the balcony is covered to protect from the heat and glare of he sun. The bathroom has one of the largest showers we have ever seen....room enough for at least 6 people. Plenty of cupboard space for clothes, complimentary tea and coffee and bottled water which was replenished daily. The rooms were cleaned to a high standard on a daily basis.

The restaurant is buffet style and the selection of food was extremly varied. Sausages and bacon were available but they were of the beef variety as obviously this is a Muslim country. we are picky eaters but we were able to find something satisfying to eat every night. Waiter service for drinks at all meals. Other restaurants are available on the Dine Around. See your rep for details.

The hotel is right on its own private beach and from the hotel looking out over The Red Sea you can see Jordan Saudi Arabia and Israel. The hotel is located in a very quiet resort with no night life outside the complex. This did not bother us as all we were after was a relaxing week away.

Hotel staff were the best we have ever come across. On the 1st morning we went down to the pool area to get a sunbed. On arrival a pool attendant came over, got our beds and put them exactly where we wanted them got our towels, tucked them into the beds and got drinks for us. Every morning after that without being asked as soon as we appeared by the pool the beds were in the same place..now thats what you call service. Bar staff and restaurant staff offerd the same quality of service and really appreciated our attempts at speaking the language although all staff speak very good english. Thanks to Mahmood in the bar for putting up with my bad pronunciation but encouraging me to keep trying!!!!!

Entertainment..........traditional Egyptian musicians a couple of singers..........and thats about it!!!!

Would we visit again.? Already booked to go back in November this year and April 2009

The Hotel is fantastic. I have been to many hotels and this was up there with the best. It is immaculate with modern décor. The area of Taba Heights is just hotels, there is nothing much else around. So if you are looking for lots to do outside the hotel this might not be the best place. However if you are looking for a completely chilled holiday then Taba Heights is the place. There is some entertainment in the hotel, normal stuff-traditional dancing, a band. The entertainment isn’t all that, but we expected that. One of the bars has loads of bean bags to just lounge around on and there is also a disco if you fancy a boogie.

The rooms are very clean and spacious. There is a little kettle so don’t forget the Tetley teabags.

The food was very good. There are three restaurants and a grill near the beach. The Bay View is the all inclusive restaurant. I would say this was a good standard. A good variety each day with great salads and a live cooking station. Good for omelettes in the morning. There was a seafood place, (not in the AI) we didn’t go in this one, but it did look nice. There was also a tapas / mezza place. We ate there most nights and although it’s not in the AI, it was well worth it. You actually get a 30 Egyptian pounds per person credit when you dine in restaurants not in the AI. We sat there most evenings and the bill was only about £10, each time we ate in there.

The staff are so friendly. I tried to learn a bit of Arabic. If you learn a little it goes a long way. They are thrilled that you are giving it go. If you don’t feel like learning too much, just learn - thank you (Shukran) and perhaps your room number, it will really impress them.

Tips – as you can expect they do not earn much, so I would advise tipping. Our rep (who was excellent) advised us to tip at the end. I am not a fan of this as they may be off that day etc. We tended to tip 10 -20 Egyptian pounds every time we got a drink (about £1 / £2). Also we found out ( I am not sure if this is true, but our guide told us) that if you put the tip in the bill folder it means that it is shared with everyone, but if you place it in their hand then it is for them.

The beach is only for hotel guests so it is very quite and they have set it out very well with the sun lounges and shades. The sea has a coral at the shore and just beyond, so I would recommend taking coral shoes (or what ever they are called). They do sell them there, but I can’t remember how much they were.

We just got back yesterday from the Intercontinental so I shall post a review as we took our lead from all the reviews when booking the hotel and always find it helpful.

We are a couple aged 28 and 30.

First let me say we have stayed at several 4* hotels in Turkey, Caribbean and other places that were better in every department.. We are not snobs, do not expect to be waited on hand on foot or expect luxury but when something is advertised as 5* you can expect things to be of a certain standard.

I will say the hotel and scenery are beautiful. It has its own beach which is clean and not crowded at all. The sea is lovely. Taking water shoes is a must as the water entrance is stones leading into corrals. Several people I saw had cuts to there leg and feet as there is no warning of this. Once you get past this you are ok or you can make a short walk down the beach to the Sofitel where they have a large jetty and entrances signposted and outlined with buoys.

The rooms are OK. Definitely not 5* though. I stayed in a 3* in Tenerife that was just as nice. We did have several problems with the cleaning of the room. The day we arrived the floor of the room was very dirty, we arrived late so just went to bed and assumed it would be cleaned the next day, However it wasn't so we did ask reception if it could be cleaned well. This however did not happen for the entire course of the holiday despite complaining to the reception and the rep. We smashed a glass one night on the floor and the remains of it were there for the following 4 days until we left despite showing the cleaner what had happened. We also wrote "clean me" for a joke in dust that covered the table again it was still there when we left. Still aside from that the room was ok, the shower is great and air con cold and the safe is free.

The food- Well overall I'd say it was at best average. It was literally the same thing on a daily basis whether it is Dinner or tea. No chips, pizza or anything for kids to eat’ mostly beef and chicken. Lots of people were moaning about the food. The biggest problem was the food hall can best be described as a school canteen. Nobody ques up aside from the British and you open the metal container plonk the food on your plate while you can and hope nobody has already had it on there plate, decided that didn’t want it and put it back (happened allot) there were times there was not food at all left. This boils down to the fact the hotel had over 1000 people staying in it and the restaurant has space for 350 guests. In the end we went for Breakfast (which is good) but ate the pool bar for dinners (extra charge i,ll get to this soon) and went out to eat at night. The buffet restaurant wasn't dirty but was not clean either. Drinks service also varied depending on where you were sat but every single one of the waiters were lovely and very helpful.

Staff- All the staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful, they really make the holiday.

The AI (All inclusive) was of some debate amongst the guests. It's not really AI. Drinks from 10am to 11pm only but this didn’t bother us at all but for some guests it was a problem. The stupidest thing was you get charged (and expensive) for using your mini bar in the room when the same drinks are free in the hotel bars. We just took extra drinks up to the room from the beach bar.

The pool bar has a grill next to it and serves lunches which I thought were very good quality. However this is not AI and averages out at about £8 for two of you. We sometimes shared pizza and fries which was about £5. Quite cheap but in an AI hotel a bit strange.

There are A La carte restaurants but again not included in the AI which lots of people were not aware of. You can use the dine around scheme where you get from 20 to 40 Egyptian pounds discount. We ate at the Flying Carpet twice and the Mexican once. Both were very good but the Mexican slightly better. You could easily share a main meal between 2 people and we were quite embarrassed at how much food we had left at the end of our meal.

It was very very hot, so you do need to drink a lot. This is where the AI comes in very handy as I think we must have spent £30 worth of drinks every day.

All in all if you want cheap holiday for a good price with great weather then it is a lovely place to stay.

However if you go expecting a 5* hotel with that extra something you will leave very disappointed.

The hotel/resort was huge. Really clean and well maintained. Although it was supposed to be 5* I would say its not quite there - nearly! The rooms all had air conditioning, free safe, television, tea & coffee making facilities. There is a mini bar in the room - but be carefull, as although it is tempting anything and everything you take is accounted for & charged! The rooms where cleaned everyday and fresh laundry left. We even had bathrobes!

We stayed for 1wk and went all inclusive and would recommend it. The amount of fluid's you have to drink due to the heat would cost a fortune! There are some restrictions on what you can drink (& how much) before they charge you, but for those who are not excessive drinkers would not be a problem.

The food was good - not excellent. There were some occasions where it wasn't overly hot but never stone cold. But overall the choice was excellent.

If you just want a relaxing holiday - this is the place to go, all the staff will do anything for you, we didn't go on any site seeing trips, mainly boat/snorkling, as seemed a little expensive? The hotel has its own beach that has direct access to the coral reefs where many an hour was spent snorkling.

There was some entertainment mainly dancing but this wasn't our thing. Nothing much else.

The kids enjoyed the three swimming pools. The pool and the sea all had life guards sitting from dawn till dusk ensuring safety at all times. There were even assistants that took your free towels from you and escorted you to a suitable sunbed on the beach!

I would go back again. Perhaps without the children as they did tend to get a little bored towards the end as there wasn't really enough for them.
More of a grown up resort! There is nothing really bad to report about this hotel and I would recommend it to anyone.

Wonderful hotel although not sure it deserves it's 5 star rating, more like 4 star +.

Only fault with the food was that it tended to be luke warm however once a few brits had a friendly word (and I do mean friendly as the staff are really lovely)the food improved. There was always plenty of choice with different themes every night. The hotel is part of the 'Dine around' scheme with money being discounted off meals at other hotels. Can honestly say that the mexican 'El Fuego' restaurant at the Taba Heights centre next to el Wekala hotel was really stunning. Piping hot food and excellent service. This restaurant deserves to do very well indeed and we cannot recommend it highly enough.

Main hotel was beautifully cleaned however the bedrooms were not always so spick and span. As sad as it may seem a cashew nut which was on the floor in the corner of our room on our arrival stayed put until the last night there (we left it there as a little check point as sad as it may seem).

Hotel was set on a beautiful reef with easy access to the coral and at one point we were snorkelling with a barracuda - what a time to forget the underwater camera ! Plenty of sunbeds on the beach and around the stunning pools.

A word of warning though. Whilst we were there the restaurant staff decided to change the dress code for gentleman. Whilst men were allowed to wear smart three quarters earlier in the week, four nights in they decided to stop all men entering the restaurant unless they were wearing long trousers. Good idea to take a couple of pairs just in case (smart casual trousers are fine but must be longer length) !

At the time of our stay they were working on building a new hotel next to the Intercontinental. Although it's just ground clearing work at the moment with no inconvenience caused I would imagine once construction gets under way this may cause some disturbance if you are staying on the Atrium side of the hotel.
