I read a number of comments from a number of sites before going to this hotel for the first time. So I was prepared for the worst. Three of us stayed there; my wife and I shared a room and a fried who came with us had a single room. So this report is from three people really.
We previously stayed in another nearby hotel (Tahiti Playa) on at least five occasions, and this had a bearing on our opinions of the Riveria. Indeed most of our assessments were by way of comparison.
The hotel we found was clean. Perhaps small toilets were a bit of a nuisance in the double room. Enjoyed comfortable lounge at front of hotel in foyer. Swimming pool was clean and large and not too busy.
Our opinions about the food were varied: I found the food better than previous hotels we have been to, while my wife was not so sure. Our friend was quite happy with the quality and choice. But as others have found, better labeling would help.
Hotel was located next to Alhambra. Some may have found this great for entertainment, because you could sit and listen and watch Alhambra's entertainment which was mainly outside the hotel every night. However if you were on the same side, you might also have complained about the noise till about 11.30pm. We were on the other side of the hotel which looked into the adjoining hotel apartments. Not the nicest of views we have to admit! Hotel was surprisingly busy for the middle of October.Mostly French elderly couples, a few Germans, a number of Spanish and quite a few Brits - including about twenty Scots (which we are).
Staff were OK - some were friendlier than others, I suppose it depends on ourselves sometimes. I have been learning a little Spanish over the years and I enjoy it when I can make myself understood in Spanish. Too often they would reply in English!
Entertainment- well, better left alone, as nothing much doing. It was the last week of season and the hotel closed after we left (not because of us I hope!)
So because we spent so little money on the accommodation - the equivalent of one course in a UK restaurant-, I felt that we got a great value holiday. The weather was excellent. We had one dull day and one really wet night, the rest was perfect.
We will certainly go back if we can a get a deal even remotely resembling this one.
Hope this helps any who might be thinking about going to Hotel Riveria
