I have used this hotel on number of occasions over the past five years, both with my husband, & large and small groups of friends.

On all occasions I have found the staff helpful and friendly.

Parking isn't a problem at £5 per night, and although spaces are on a first come basis we've never been inconvenienced.

The rooms are basic but have everything you need for a pleasant stay. On more than one occasion we have only paid £15 for the room, and at worst £70 though this cost was shared between three adults making it more than affordable.

The location can't be bettered even by the more expensive hotels. Ok it's not on Princes Street but I've never really been interested in stopping above a department store anyway. The hotel can be found just off the Royal Mile on St Mary's Street. On the doorstep are Hollyrood Palace, The Dynamic Earth Musuem, University, The Grass Market, Castle and of course the Royal Mile (High Street). Princes Street and Rose Street are a mere ten minune walk, and Waverley Railway Station a handy five minutes by foot or taxi.

I've never opted to have the breakfast at the hotel as I prefer to have an early morning walk and find somewhere to eat.

The hotel bar is open til 4 am and on Friday and Saturday evenings can be full until last orders with hen and stag parties.
