| said: Arrived around mid day. First impressions were quite good. A few arriving guests were ahead of us at the reception desk to get keys and we heard them being told their rooms were not ready yet. I was concerned this wouldn't be a good start as we had 2 youngish children with us who had been up since 4am! I needn't have worried - they changed the room we were supposed to have to one that was already prepared!
An added bonus was that even though we were self catering the children were given a wirst band which entitled them to free ice cream, crisps and soft drinks - I wasn't aware of this from anything i had read and it was a great bonus.
Our apartment was perfectly adequate although there was a very unsightly damp and 'bubbling' area on the bedroom ceiling! Also there was a rather large puddle coming from the fridge! We soon discovered that this was because the ice compartment was completely solid with a mass of ice and the door would not shut. Rather than wait to have this sorted or worse have to pack again and move rooms we painstakingly hacked away the ice - problem solved! One word of warning though - the sofa beds are really not very comfortable at all!
The children's entertainment was really very good - the team worked very hard and seemed to enjoy what they were doing. We didn't stay for any of the adult entertainment and so I can't comment!
The pizza restaurant in the hotel was nice but we didn't eat anywhere else in the hotel so again I cannot comment.
There is plenty going on at this Holiday Village if you are prepared to get involved.
Pool was freezing but I have encountered that before in Lanzarote. There are a number of pools, a splash park area and some small slides in the main pool.
All in all it was quite a good hotel - as is often the case it could do with a bit of decorating to smarten things up.
We tended to catch the free hotel bus down to the beach. The last bus goes into Playa Blanca at 5pm - which was fine for us when we were going out for dinner but might be a little early for others. The walk back from Playa Blanca took about 20 mins but is a fairly flat stroll. Plenty of restaurants on the front but the nicest we found was in one of the streets behind. The Marina Rubison has some more upmarket type restaurants but we found they lacked the atmosphere of the other places and the prices are higher.

| said: This was our second visit in two years and we're already looking forward to our third. Our children were 11 and 9 and Holiday village was the perfect choice as they were thoroughly entertained by the wavelength crew!
The entire complex is exceptionally clean and well maintained and nothing was too much trouble for the reception staff or First choice reps.
There was lots of hot water,a shower, bath, and the Kitchen had kettle, toaster and coffee maker.
The Holiday soccer school was not running as there were too few children on site but this was not too disappointing.
We paid an extra €3 per day for Some Sky channels, a sports channel, some BBC channels and Sky family movie channel.
The Entertainment has improved from 2007 and the team worked very hard to keep adults and children entertained.
It's about a 20 minute walk into Playa Blanca or a taxi ride for about €3.50, it's a lovely resort with many good restaurants and again, all clean and picturesque.

| said: having visited Holiday Village Benalmadena for the last 4 years, my friends and I chose Lanzarote for a change this time. Arriving late evening, I was dismayed to discover that there was virtually nothing for my 16 year old son to do. the whole village closes at 12 o'clock, great for families with young kids and older holidaymakers, but not what 16 - 19 year old holidaymakers want! When I say 12, most of the guests disappear at 11 when the entertainment ends. On the first night there was only one other family apart from us 7 people,in the dome for the disco after 11. Turning this into a positive, we all got up to dance and through this unusual activety, ended up befriending the entertainment staff and bar staff. Can I say that these people do an excellent job, given the lack of a half decent sound system and the apathy of some of the guests. Well done to Tom, Steve,Liz and Naffie (the barman)in particular, who certainly made this holiday a bit more bearable. Indeed we found most of the staff very nice and friendly.
To sum up.
POSITIVES Entertainers, activety staff and bar staff all first class. Great child friendly village for young families. Not a sound heard after lights out (12 o'clock) Smaller and more personal than other Holiday Villages. Apartments clean and reasonable facilites. Free tv in room includes CH4 and BBC, though extra channels are avail at a cost of 3 euros per day
NEGATIVES Village closes at 12 midnight. No games room or meeting area for over 15 year olds. One pool table in Village is outside at main pool, subject to the elements and generally broken. Internet code available for lap top expensive at 6 euros an hour (10 euros a week in benelmadena)Football pitch is only available when supervised by First Choice staff. During these twice weekly sessions, you pay 6 euros for a 1 1/2 hours five a side football tournament. My son doesn't even pay that at home.
All in all, we had a great time because we participated. We met some wonderful and colourful people, mainly due to this. I cannot imagine what this holiday would have been like, with a 16 year old who would otherwise have been bored to tears if he too hadn't got involved. This said, we would not return to this village because of the lack of facilities for over 15 year olds. First Choice should emphasise this in the brochure and the fact that all these Holiday Villages are independantly owned and managed by First Choice. Don't expect a similar experience from one village to another as we have discovered this year!

The rooms hotel and pools very clean. We went all inclusive the food was excellent and lots of differant choices. You can also have snacks like burger chips pizza chips or hot dog from the bar. Drinks are served one per person quite restricted when a large group. My barman ran after me to ask who my second drink was for as was on my own, my husband following in a bit.
The evening entertainment in the dome was not as Iexpected, best thing was the evening bingo which we won twice 2 euro per ticket line about 140 euro, full 260 euro depending on how many play.
Two songs with actions for kids then a gameshow most nights which was not really entertaining for our large group. We expected shows and professional acts even the disco at eleven was non existant as most people have probably left of boredom. No one seems to dance, the dance floor was deserted.
The resort was 15 min walk and had lovely restaurants.
We would not go back again as the evening entertainment spoiled it for us and that was one of the main things we wanted.

| said: Just returned from a 2 week holiday at sun tropical, and after the initial disappointment of the lack of facilities for teenagers, we had a brilliant time!! This is a perfect holiday for families with young children, but anybody over the age of 13 looking for evening entertainment (other than the dome) will be disappointed. There is no games room with pool tables (which would be a welcome addition) or any other suitable meeting place or activities for teenagers. The reason we had such a good time was that we really got involved with the entertainment in the dome, along with the friends we travelled with (the other half of the "Big Mac's"), and didn't just sit back and wait to be entertained!! The team of entertainers are fantastic, in particular Tom, Liz and Steve who made us all feel like part of the family!! Thanks guys - we are going to miss you, you really do a fantastic job - keep up the great work!! Overall - a great holiday but won't be returning, simply because of the things previously mentioned.

| said: Just returned from a weeks break at Sun Tropical and we wished we'd booked for 2 weeks but it was mainly because we weren't sure how it would be going away with a 5 month old that we only booked a week. As it was she was brilliant so we really wanted to stay the extra week!
The whole complex was spotless, pools were cleaned every morning, maids cleaned every day, new bedding and towels whenever we wanted them, nothing was ever too much trouble. There was loads there for the kids to do, and they didn't care about the cold water in the pools, although the grown ups weren't so keen! The kids clubs are excellent although ours never needed to use them, they kept themselves occupied enough. My son did the Soccer School and loved it, although they tended to do the sessions when its really hot.
We hired a baby pack for the week and it had everything we needed for a 5 month old, it saved us so much luggage.
The all inclusive is the only thing to let it down. We expected all inclusive to mean just that, but here it seemed to mean all inclusive to suit the hotel. They were very restrictive to where and when you could get food and drinks, and after 9.30pm you couldn't have anything to eat without paying for it. kids ice cream was only available from one small hut which the kids had to walk a fair way to get to, and when they say unlimited crisps, they should say limited to one box per night for the whole complex, as once the box was empty, no more was available!
Having said that I enjoyed most of the food from the restaurant, it was perfectly adequate and we went away from every sitting full. Don't expect a gastronomic experience though....
Evening entertainment was a mixture of professional acts and reps shows which were pretty good fun, the kids spent more time running around than watching the shows though, but it kept us adults entertained!
Overall the place was excellent but we wouldn't go again as the all inclusives are much better elsewhere.

If you are booking this hotel i would definately say dont go all-inclusive because there is no choice what so ever and the bread you could knock someone out with!
We had to eat out every day which you shouldn't have to do if you've booked all-inclusive. The maids do a great job and the towels changed every day. Holiday village was a lovely place to stay, the only one thing that let it down was the food.

The apartments were clean as a whistle no complaints there.Only problem is not many channels on the tv in english only cnn and eurosport you have to pay at reception for more english channels.
The bufet for children was fantastic loads of choice for them ant the adults choices were limited but of good quality.
The walk to the beach is a good 15mins so it best to bet a pass for the back gate it costs 10euros which you get back when you return the card.
Night time entertainment was good but very repetative the reps show expodus was brilliant!!!
We would definatly go back again we wish we had of stayed for two weeks including my 16month old son who loved the night time entertainment and t baby pools!

| said: We went self catering with our two sons aged 8 and 10.
The hotel was clean and basic and staff were most helpful and friendly.
As we were self catering we took the option of eating off site most evenings but enjoyed the snacks during the day. Taxis to and from Playa Blanca were only 2-3 euro - great value .However we did eat in two evening and found food pretty basic and lacks trimmings e.g salad
Having never visted a holiday village before I was amazed with the size of the complex.
However I thought it was too scattered and there was no central meeting place where kids could mix with and make new friends - especially my 11 year old who is a little shy.
My 8 year old loved the Kids Club and the Stagecoach.
However I thought that it would have been nice to have little fun competitions during the day or during the kids disco and present the kids with certificates on stage as they love this.
Must say huge thank you to kids club troops who gave my son a great night on his 8th birthday and were always in great spirits and fun loving and really seems to love their job. Well done!

| said: Just returned from an all inclusive holiday to Holiday Village. Overall it was a very enjoyable experience for the whole family.
The holiday village is very well maintained, the rooms are clean, basic but functional and the grounds and pool area are lovely.
The food was fine, a bit disappointing though. The breakfasts were very good indeed, standard fried breakfast and continental choices. The lunches and evening meals were basically what I'd describe as good quality canteen type food and definitely geared for children's taste buds and seeing as it's a holiday village that's ok with me.
All inclusive entitled us to a night in the Spanish grill(ex Tex Mex) and that was absolutely fine and I enjoyed a tasty fish dish, however the pizzeria was not particularly good and I wouldn't recommend it.
The Hotel location was a bit too far back from Playa Blanca itself and removed from beach areas.Having said that, there was so much going on within the walls of the village we didn't really feel the need to venture into town regularly.
Staff were genuinely excellent, from reception to reps, bar staff and entertainment staff.Everyone made you feel so welcome and the staff in the restaurants were superb. The acoustics in the dome give you a feeling of being in a church, but the entertainment crew worked so hard and did a very good job.
The soccer school in particular was the highlight of the holiday for the kids and the Bugs Bunny and Wavelength clubs seemed to be very well run and managed with lots of enjoyable activities to suit children of all ages.
It was also quieter than expected, the village seems to be able to cater for a busy Easter influx while still feeling relaxed and not over crowded.I expected hoardes of noisy marauding children and was pleasantly surprised to find a relaxed family atmosphere and would have no hesitation in returning again.

| said: We have just come back from the Sun Tropical.
I highly recommend these apartments for a holiday. Its a village style complex and is fully enclosed which is great if you have kids from a security point of view.
Staff are very friendly and helpful also the reps are excellent. You can get a swipe card to get you out the back gate for 5 euros at any time. It is a necessity as if you are going down to the beach or down to the promenade in Playa Blanca for something to eat.
Rooms are ok. The major fault with the rooms are that they are only two single beds and a couch with a pull out base. Kids slept in single beds. Wife slept on couch bed and I slept on pull out base. You would get away with it for a week but for two weeks it gets a bit uncomfortable.
Entertainment in complex is completely geared up for kids which is a good thing. Entertainment is held in the dome but from an adults point of view it gets very boring after a couple of nights.
Playa Blanca beach is lovely. It is a white sandy beach and plenty of restaurants along the promenade. The chinese food is lovely and very cheap.
If you walk to the end of the promenade you can get a boat trip to Fuerteventura for the day. It is a 45 min trip higly recommended. Down where you get the boat for Fuerteventura there is an Irish bar where the food is excellent staff very friendly and they show all the gaa games and priemiership games.
Talking to a few people who stayed in Puerto del Carmen they much preferred Playa Blanca as it is less commercialised and very laid back and the beach and vicinty much nicer and safer for families. Most of the days they spent in Playa Blanca.
Taxi ride from Playa Blanca to Puuerto del Carment was 25 euros. W went on two of the days organised by sun tropical. We went on the submarine trip. Definitely wasnt worth the money. It was roughlay 150 euros for a 45 minute trip . Saw very little fish down below. Second trip we went on was the Rancho Texas night. Highly recommended. Book early as it is most popular night night out. It starts at 8 and finishes at 12. It costs about 150 euros but you are fed and given free beer for the night. Kids loved this night out . It involves line dancing face painting country music carriage rides for kids playing in teepees dancing kids getting pictures taken with cowboys they will sleep after this night out. Kids are given also free minerals for the night.
If going to Lanzarote with a family Sun Tropical in Playa Blanca is the place to go to you wont be disappointed.
Guarantee you will keep going back

The First Choice reps were friendly and always to hand should you need them. The day and evening entertainment team were excellent with something for everyone.
The buffet was not the biggest I've encountered but all the food was well prepared and varied, we went all inclusive and were never stuck for something nice to eat.
The beach is about a 20 min walk but there is a free bus every hour to take you there.
All in all a great holiday and we would not hesitate to return, at the right price may I add, we booked a late deal and paid half the book price. Pay no heed to the negative reports on this hotel complex.

Would certainly recommend this holiday to anyone with younger children looking for a relaxing break.

The kids loved the in2action team who kept them busy most days by the pool. My eldest son really enjoyed the soccer school. Both kids thought the kids clubs were "boring".
Food was always good, with a large selection. All inclusive seemed like good value for money.
Entertainment was as expected, kids disco, bingo, and show. Kids enjoyed it, some shows abit naff but all in all ok.
Resort was nice and clean, and well laid out, perhaps could of done with an extra mop round the pool. Plenty of sunbeds.

| said: We stayed here on 18th May for a week with our 2 boys age 4 & 2 and only wished we'd booked 2 weeks. We really didn't want to come home.
Before we went I emailed the hotel and asked for an upper floor/pool view in Kiwi block.
When we arrived the receptionist said "AHH - I have a very nice room for you Madam" and he wasn't lying.
It was room 534, we could'nt have asked for a better location and the balcony was huge.
It had everything you needed in there and was modern clean and tidy, my only complaint would be that there were no drawers, loads of wardrobe space though.
The kids clubs were fantastic. The staff were brilliant with them and there was always something different going on.
We put our youngest in the creche a few times which was a bit hit and miss, no fault on their part he just wasn't happy about being split up from his brother.
I asked if they would let his brother come in for a session which they were more than happy to do.
One evening we used the babysitting service so as we could leave site and have a nice evening down at the Marina Rubicon.
It costs 35E for up to 3 children you can either have 6 - 9pm or 9 - 12 pm.
We went later because we wanted them to be asleep before we left or it just wouldn't of happened.
Its the first time we've left the boys with a babysitter who wasn't family which neither of us ever thought we'd do but we felt so comfortable with them after seeing how good they were with the children it wasn't a problem for us.
They give you a mobile to take out with you just in case of any problems.
We only ate a couple of times in the complex because we went self catering.
We had one meal in the TeX Mex which we all enjoyed and I got a lasagna from the pizza place late one night after we'd been out but didn't think much of it. My other half had pizzas from there a couple of times late at night and enjoyed them so did our friends who we went with.
There's lots of lovely restaurants in Playa Blana especially down at The marina.
We went there for meals in the day and night.
Its such a beautiful setting, you feel as though your in Monaco.
In the day time you can have you meal at one of the restaurant's on the veranda over the water and all of the fish swim around you.
The waiters brought out lots of bread for the kids to give the fish which they were made up with.
Cafe Del mar is lovely too. Its like the garden of Eden in there and they do fancy cocktails if that's your thing.
The location was OK for us because we don't mind a walk. It took us about 15 Min's to get to the beach.
We hired a car so took that some days. There was no problems with parking in Playa Blanca and driving is really easy over there. Everything is well posted.
I'd really recommend hiring a car. It was nice to be able to do our own thing. We went to Timanfaya National park, Arreceife, Rancho Texas, Puerto Calero to the submarine and we went to Puerto Del Carmen which I didn't like the look of. It was too commercialised where as Playa Blanca is unspoilt.
We did one trip with the reps to the evening Rancho Texas wild west themed evening.
If you only do one trip do this one, it is a must especially if you've got kids (although I would of enjoyed it anyway).
Food and drink are included and they certainly didn't scrimp on it.
The jugs of sangria, beer and soft drinks were constantly being replaced and the food was lovely. Like a barbecue.
The show was great they get the kids up and lasso them, take them on horse and pony rides outside, there's a bouncy castle then when your all half cut they have everyone up dancing.
The entertainment in the dome in the hotel was good for the kids but its a bit of a drag when they stop after the mini disco for bingo then start again for the show after.
They ought to do the bingo after. Kids arn't interested in bingo.
There was always a Que at the bar too.
One thing is it is windy which is nice in the day as its so hot but it can get chilly when the sun goes in so take a cardi or coat.
Saying that when we went they were having an especially windy week because they had to stop the parasailing on the beach so it might be better at other times of the year.
I really don't know how people can go here and not like it.
I'm glad we were self catering though. I wouldn't of liked to have been all inclusive and tied to the hotels restaurants and the dome every night.
All in all we had the best holiday we've ever had and will definitely be going back to The Sun Tropical.
We fell in love with Playa Blanca.
My partner wanted to go back next year but we've decided to go back in 2008 now because there's a lot of developing going on down at the Marina so it will be nice to see how its come on in 2 years time rather than 1.

The kitchen has its own kettle, toaster, juicer, two ring hob and microwave/combi grill. The bathroom has its own hairdryer. Safe is 5Euros refundable deposit and was easy to use and well worth getting it. Also get a back gate pass which will allow you to get to the beach quicker and reduce your distance by 10mins.
We ate in the Hotel Restaurant twice at 37.50 Euros for 4 it was OK but we preferred to eat out. Location of the hotel was fine walking to town/beach 10mins. We hired a buggy (from Creche) for our 3yr old because by the nighttime he was getting tired and this cost 20 Euros for the week or 5Euros a day.
Entertaining was very good and professional First Choice have put loads of money into this resort with the professionalism of it all. Some of the hotel staff (i.e Dome Bar Man & Poolside Bar man) need to put a smile on but you can only laugh about that.

| said: What can I say, after reading some of the comments before we went I thought oh my god! And me being a really fussy person I didn’t think we would like it.
How wrong was I, it was the best holiday that I have ever been on, the whole place was fantastic. Travelling with a teenager and a younger child the entertainment and in 2 action team were fab, plenty of things to do.
We had only been there for a day and had won 3 certificates! the e3 team were great, thanks marcus, adam, helen, rachel and jo a big hug and thanks to them all. They worked there backsides off
I must agree that all inclusive guests are treated as second best, we went to the pizza restaurant and Mexican restaurant and the portions were much smaller as we went back to pay for the one meal as you’re only allowed one free per all inclusive and we got much bigger portions!
The bar is a bit of a wait as there’s only 1 bar staff on and he’s a bit arrogant
Must highly recommend this hotel it’s very good and excellent
Cheers guys

| said: This our second time back, we first visited when it opened a few years ago. I can't say enough good things about this hotel, we have been to all the First Choice holidays villages and this is the best.
The whole place is spotless, food is great, always a wide choice and very well presented. Bar service is always with a smile, and they are quick and efficient.
The entertainment team they have there at present are nothing short of brilliant. They are talented, full of beans and work their backsides off, everyone loved the shows- adults and children alike.
I could go on all day, but this is the best holiday we have ever had as a family and have already booked for next year. get yourself excited, because you will love it!

| said: Good Points First:
Our room was right next to one of the pools so we could walk out of our room leaving the door open and sunbathe whch was great. It felt secure enough for my 8 and 12 year old to wander around the complex.
Staff were friendly helpful and repairs carried out prompt. Room was clean and good change of linen.
You may want to take your own disinfectant to clean the bathroom as ours and a few others we heard smelt a little and we couldnt find any in the supermarkets.
Chicken shack was very nice food and fair priced.
Pools were clean and well monitored for quality of water.
Now for the not so good points:
1/ The pools were bitterly cold for a 4 star complex and should be heated. This was a clear reason why all the pools were little used even on warm days.
2/ The pool side tiles were very slippery even when dry (which resulted in an injury sustained to my children, incident report form filed on site), I would class this as a serious safety hazard as I noted many children, adults and infact a rep slip and fall on these tiles over the duration of the holiday.
3/ The drinks were very expensive and varied from bar to bar.
4/ Doughnuts that were 1 Euro in one bar were 2.50 Euro in the chicken shack which I felt was unreasonable.
5/ The dome acoustics were terrible and obviously reflected on the performance of the artists.
6/ The outlet were children can receive free ice cream and drinks for the last 4 days of our trip was unmanned and no cups were available.
7/ The price for the washing and drying facilities were extreme at 4 Euros especially when the drying machine did not even fully dry 12 pairs of socks as one load.
8/ I also complained to the centre management that a number of guests including myself witnessed cleaning/repair staff remove a number of children’s play items from the pool side into black bin liners, I also had some items of clothing go missing from the washing line outside the room along with other guests.
A doctor will cost you 115 Euros if one has to be called out. Be careful as I went to see the onsite doctor and he wasnt in his hut when he should have been, after informing reception they called one out for me from town without my knowledge and it cost me 115 Euro to remove a cactus needle from my sons hand!!
If you havnt the money they will phone the police and get you arrested at the airport.
Prices:
A Rum and Coke cost almost 4 Euros, For a family of 2 adults and 2 kids in the buffet it cost 43.50 for dinner which was expensive.
Car hire appeared to be double the price for what you can get in town for the same comapny so check in town first. I paid around 35 euros for 1 days hire for a Fiat Punto. Be warned though, check you r car over fully as mine had 2 dodgey tyres.

| said: Stayed for a week at the Sun Tropical (having stayed at the Pegasos Tropical in Turkey last July)- unfair to draw comparisons as the shear magnitude of the Pegasos swamps the Sun Tropical in all aspects. We have daughter (4) and son (2).
Transfer was as expected (30-40mins), check-in was swift, directions to rooms very good, and position of room great (we had requested a room in the Kiwi block having read a previous submission - and can only echo this!!). Rooms are basic, with one bedroom (minisafe at EUR15 per week), bathroom, kitchen area within the main living space, a DVD, TV with usual Euro Channels, and sofa bed. Perfect for us.
Block has its own swimming pool directly outside the rooms (c4-5' deep), and a smaller paddling pool just around the corner (ideal for smaller children like ours). Main pool is around the corner, but not for those expecting a Med temperature to it - it does take your breath away - very nice pool all the same).
All inc food is also basic, but with two young children our requirements were perfectly matched. I can understand why a lot of couples with older children go self catering, as they have option to pay to use restaurants, or do their own thing. Meals are buffet style, with a childrens counter with usual kids food.
There is also a Food Center with a pizzeria, mexican (we used both once as part of the All inc package), and Chicken Shack (which also serves great food). Downstair in Food Center is a bar, Internet Room, and Supermarket (not overly expensive either). Launderette, Gym and Sauna are also located here.
Main Pool Bar serves snacks during the day (pizza slices, toasties, hot dogs, etc - all perfect for filling a hole!!).
Kids clubs were on same basis as those in Turkey (and I suspect in all FC's Holiday Villages) - the In 2 Action teams really are fantastic. Our daughter went in every day for 90min session, but they run three sessions a day if you're looking to get rid of the kids for longer!!
We used the creche for our boy (EUR 10 for a 90 min session), and he absolutely loved it - he'll be old enough for kids club next year, and will have served him well for the step up. They have also introduced an evening creche facility.
Evening entertainment is great for the kids / gets a bit long in the tooth for those without young families, but they probably won't do the Holiday Village experience again anyway.
Recommend getting the rear gate pass for EUR 5 deposit for the stay. Its probably only a 10 min walk to the main resort (unless you take our kids and that becomes 20mins!!). We strolled down there most mornings ahead of poolside sun-worshipping in the afternoons.
Understand that sun has now definately arrived (we didn't have a single bad day / or dull day for that matter), unlike friends who travelled a month or so ago.
Only moan relates to the flight home (we had booked "Premium" service - have had to look up the definition of the word since returning!!). Have to say that the FC cabin crew going out there were truely customer focused, and those coming back were simply "Last Choice". Whilst love the FC Holiday Village concept for us as a family, will seriously look into other options of getting there next time, as flight home left a real sour taste in the mouth.
All in all, a wonderful winter sun break, other than flights FC have got it spot on for families like ours (I appreciate other people are looking for different levels of satisfaction, entertainment, food etc), and would definately return to Playa Blanca, and indeed Sun Tropical again.

| said: We went 16-23 February 2006. The way our flights worked out we had six full days. Overall we had a very good time.
The accommodation was not as plush as other Holiday Village complexes but it was clean and comfortable. It was a two storey "low rise" complex which suited us.
The hotel and First Choice/Falcon staff were very pleasant and helpful and there was plenty for the kids to do.
We were SC so we mostly ate out, though did go to the Pizza restaurant which was perfectly fine. The shop, while more a bit more expensive than supermercados, was not too bad and certainly not the rip off that the one in Benalmadena was.
We didn't go to the entertainment so can't comment on it. We would generally go into Playa Blanca to eat, come back to the complex at about 11:00pm, put the kids to bed and have a drink in the apartment.
The centre of Playa Blanca is about 15 min walk from the complex and is a pleasant little town with some nice restaurants along the sea front.
Don't forget to get a key to the back gate of the complex as going out the front way adds at least 10 mins onto the walk. One night we got a taxi back to the complex and this was 3euros.

The pools and surrounding areas were nice, and clean and plenty of sunbeds available no matter what time of day, considering it was half term week. We ate ion the Buffet Style restaurant on the first night and although it was nice, there was not much choice. We did eat in the Mexican on site, and the steak was lovely, just melted in your mouth!
The staff in the hotel, were very friendly and all spoke good English. Maid service was six times a week. She kept the apartments lovely and clean at all times.
As for the kids entertainment, we could not have asked for better. Yes Anthony is a total loony and head-case along with Gareth, but they were great with the kids at all times. All the reps and entertainers of the First choice crew were great and always there to help no matter what.
It was a ten minute walk into Playa Blanca itself, which is a lovely pleasant walk, especially if you walk along the sea-front/harbour.
Would I visit this hotel/apartments again? Yes without a doubt!!
We have just booked to go to the one in the Costa del Sol. Some of the reps from Lanzarote are going to the Costa Del sol Holiday Village on 6th April.

| said: Went to sun tropical the week before christmas. The complex looks and was beautiful, and huge! Everything is very clean.
Check in took a while as everyone seemed to be staying here and we ended up the back of the queue, although wasnt a problem as reception is lovely and there are seats and infomation leaflets to read.
We were staying in the strawberry block which is just across from the reception. Rooms were ok-ish, although we had a few ants in the bathroom which isnt very nice. The rest of the complex is top notch.
We stayed self catering and on the first night we went to the restaurant for dinner. I thought it was a rip off as the food wasnt great but we did go there for breakfast every morning and there was a very large choice.
The rest of the week we went to the pizza place, chicken shack, and the tex mex all of which were really good!! the tex mex is a bit over priced though.
One night we had dinner at an irish pub in playa blanca which was nice. The pub was nice and was showing a football game that wasnt on over here so my newcastle mad hubby was pleased. The spanish love kids so thats always a bonus!!
The staff were all very friendly. In the sun tropical, kids are VERY well catered for, the first choice team are fab! We were only there for 5 mins (waiting to check in) and one of the reps was playing with my 3 year old, keeping him amused.
We never used the kids clubs, (i wouldnt even but my kids in a creche over here!) but they looked good from what i saw and their hour entertainment at night was really great fun for kids if not a little repetative for adults! Never stayed for adult entertainment so cant really comment onthat.
So everything was great, weather was great, playa blanca is lovely, but I wouldnt go back to sun tropical for one reason-location. If you pay a refundable 5 euros you get a key for back gate which knocks a few minutes of your walk into town, but the complex (which security is very good by the way) is surrounded by busy, fast roads.
You have to walk all the way (about 15 minutes) down fast roads to get to the town which isnt good when you have kids. and you have to cross the roads a couple of times and zebra crossings mean nothing. But a few people never even left thecomplex as it has everything (bars, restaurants a shop, loads of swimming pools) and taxi's are really cheap if you cant be bothered walking.
Pools are freezing in december(but I knew that before we went having been to the canaries in december before) but they would be amazing in the summer, im sure.
Over all its a beautiful complex, feels safe at night walking back from the dome (entertainment) and makes a lovely walk but the location is all that really bothers me.
The flight back was a bit of a pain to start off, grumpy baby and delayed flight but they gave us 6 seats as plane was quiet and helps with the 2 kids. But my 5 month old, expensive buggy got broken I 3 places so should have taken the old one. the first choice team at the sun tropical and on the flights were very good and helpful.
Oh, and on checking in my 3 year old was given a band so he got free ice creams and juice for the week which I thought was really good.

| said: We went in mid December the complex was very quite as you would expect, ideal if you have no children but want a dose of winter sun.
Our rooms were kept spotless.
We ate on a bed and breakfast basis the food was very good food is buffet style each day with plenty of choice. We also ate in in the evenings again no complaints on quantity and variety of food for less than £19 for two you can each as much as you like most evenings the food had a bias to wards English food. If you are looking for local cuisine there are plenty of eating places in the resort. We ate in the Tex Mex but have to say very disappointed in both quality and quantity. Pizza place was good no complaints here.
Entertainment was average but again bear in mind this is a family complex. As`we went at a very quite time do expect it to be busy in the summer so if you are a couple who are looking for a quite holiday in the summer look elsewhere.

| said: We stayed at the hotel for a week and really enjoyed it. We were there for a quiet holiday but if you wanted entertaining the dome was the place to go.
When we were allocated a room we were on the ground floor and next to the teen centre. Having no kids with us we didn't really want to be here so I went back to reception and asked to be moved which they did with no problem - I asked for a room with a balcony and she switched us straight away. We didn't even have to wait.
Once in our room we found we only had one cup and so requested another at reception the next morning. One appeared in our room by the time we come back from the pool.
We only ate at the Chicken shack at dinner time and so can't really comment on the food but a couple we met said the food was very nice and if you're self catering its 12 euros to eat in the restaurant and you get drinks included.
We walked into town every night. The back gate pass is worth the 5 euros although you do get this back. On the first night there we decided to walk into town, it was fun trying to find the gate as it is not very well lit. If you head for the First Choice flag behind the pirate ship you'll find it. Whatever you do, do not go left. We had no idea how to get to the town and so headed left as this seemed to be where the cars were going. Big mistake!! It took us about 30 mins to get into town and that was only with the help of a couple we passed. In the morning we saw we were just heading into the mountains!! It is a bit of a walk but shouldn't take more than 10mins. To get to the town turn right then your first left past the Sun Beach then carry straight on to the end and turn right. This brings you to the road behind the beach.
We ate at the Slow Boat Chinese which is on this road. Absolutely brilliant. You can change any dishes in the banquet. The duck is lovely. Also the restaurant next to the Jumbo Chinese is nice - try the Canarian Potato's they are the best.
Back to the hotel...the Jacuzzis are good we had once outside our apartment.
We had no trouble finding a sunbed even when we didn't get up until late. The weather was good too.

| said: We have just returned from a fantastic 2 weeks stay at the Sun Tropical and would recommend a holiday here.
The check in staff were very efficient and the wrist bands for the free drinks and ice creams were a welcome surprise.
We stayed in kiwi block overlooking the main pool and could not have wished for better apartments, very clean, towels changed everyday apart from Sundays, sheets changed 3 times a week.
We did attend the welcome meeting and Jimmy and Co very good and we did not find them pushy in selling trips at all.
We were quite worried about the pool after reading previous reports but need not have worried, the water did not feel too cold once you were in and there was plenty of sun beds and parasols.
We ate in the tex mex several times and did not have a bad meal there and the waiter was extremely pleasent (perhaps a little overworked)as he was on his own apart from the chef.
Entertainment Staff well what can I say, Anthony your a lunatic but an absolute star as well as Emma, Claire, Dan, Stuart, Rebecca, Freya and Leanne. You all worked hard to keep the guests entertained. The quiz got very competetive each day and we all entered into the spirit of it.
My 2 children are 13 and 11 and always found something to do and really enjoyed the high ropes and shipwreched afternoon with the In2action group.
All in all we have had a great time, met some fantastic people, Hi to my fellow Westlifers, Sophie, Tony and Vicky, to Grant and family and all the other people who were at the Sun Tropical from 20.10.05 to 3.11.05.
A great time was had by all, We Will Be Back.

| said: Having just returned last week I thought I'd give a review of this complex. I had checked this place out on this web site after I had booked for myself and my 13 year old son to go in March and after reading some of the reviews on here I have to say I spent the next 8 months wondering if I should cancel it and rebook somewhere else. I didnt, and I have to say I'm pleased I didn't.
If your going with kids, which it states it designed for, it's fantastic. I had never booked into anyway like this having preferred a smaller apartment complex. So was worried about the obvious massive size of the complex, but the way it's designed it feels like a much smaller intimate complex if you stay round your apartment, and a much bigger livelier complex if you go by the main pool.
Some comments of previous reviews of "Its like Butlins" etc are way off the mark, it's lively if you want it, quiet if you don't.
Location is on the outskirts of PB but still only a 10 min walk through back gate.
Rooms-great, cleanliness - immaculate.
I went AI, although food was fine for a week. 2 weeks may be pushing it. If you want a glass of out of the freezer for a beer, just ask and you get one (prev reviews suggested they were for non AI guests).
Tex Mex and Pizzeria are very good and staff not arrogant(as was suggested by some reviews).
The activities are not pushed at parents to join in, you're asked as a group if you want to join in and not "picked on or singled out".
Tips.
Get the back gate pass for 5 euros, saves a good walk. Take the little key off the room key which allows you to leave air con on while your out during the day. Book for the Tex Mex or Pizzeria at main reception between 10.30 and 12.30 for next day.
In summary, if you booked for the kids to be happy so you can be too, you will have a ball. If you want a Sandals style resort...(no kids) don't go here.

The food and drink was good with a wide variety of choice, the kids enjoyed the ice cream, lollies and crisps and they ate most of the food that was on show in the restaurant.
The entertainment team were good with a big hello the antony from Harry and Emilie!!, There were the normal shows with bingo and the kids disco. There was kids club at night which harry loved even though he was the first person to be sick at the party!!
We would go back to the sun tropical and recommend it to anyone

| said: Just returned from 2 weeks holiday at the Sun Tropical and would go back again.
We stayed self catering but our 3 year old son was given a wrist band (we did have to ask for this having read about it on holiday truths previous reports), which entitled him to free drinks, ice lollies and crisps although we did hear whilst we were there that this is stopping soon.
We ate in the Tex mex, Pizza place, Chicken Shack and in the restuarant itself. The Tex Mex was nice but like any where in Lanzarote if you want your steak well done you have to ask them to burn it!! and only then is it just well done. The pizzas in the pizza place are delicious and the chicken shack food is ok. We ate in the restuarant a couple of times. This was good value for money as unlimited soft drinks, wine, beer and coffee was included although some nights having looked what was on offer we chose to go into the town to eat.
The complex is at the back of the resort and it is well worth paying the 5 euros for a back gate pass which saved you walking right around the whole complex. Hotel staff, reps and entertainment staff were really helpful and worked long hours entertaining us with quizes, mini discos, bingo and cabarets.
There is one main pool (salt water) and numerous little pools. We stayed in the strawberry block and the room was spotless just like everywhere on site. We went over to Fuerteventura for the day on the new Fred Olsen. It took 12 minutes. Under 4's go free and myself and my husband paid 72 euros for return tickets. We also got a local bus to Puerto Del Carmen. It took about 40 minutes and cost just over 8 euros for return tickets for myself and my husband, again our 3 year old went free.
We would recommend the Sun Tropical and will definitely return. We were well impressed with First Choice. A couple of weeks before we went we paid £15 to book our suitcases in at Manchester the day before our flight and also paid an extra £2 to get a kids meal, well worth it.

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and they all spoke extremely good English.
The hotel itself was a little out of the way being situated at the back of the resort but if you used the small gate at the back of the complex it was only a 10 or 15 minute walk to the beach / shops.
The pool was huge and never very busy although it was difficult to get sunbeds on some days in our second week.
The daytime and evening entertainment was planned by the First Choice Entertainment team. There were plenty of activities during the day (pool games, bar games, quizzes etc) and the evening entertainment consisted of a kids disco, bingo, and a show or game. The highlight of the holiday for us was a guy called Speedo who was on holiday with his family but was good enough to be one of the professional entertainers. He was really funny and we would love to see him on next years holiday as well.
All in all I had a great holiday at The Sun Tropical and would definitely go there again. Thanks to everyone at the hotel and First Choice (...oh and Speedo of course).

| said: 3 generations (ages 39, 39, 20, 20, 18, 16, 3) have just returned from a fantastic 7 day holiday at Sun Tropical and we would have no hesitation in recommending it. Everything went as planned from the minute we left Manchester to the time we arrived back there.
We were allocated adjoining, low level apartments in Kiwi block, as requested. The 2 children were also given wrist bands allowing them free soft drinks, ice creams and ice lollies from the pool side. We checked that this was correct as we were self catering - it was - an unexpected bonus for our 3 year old grandson!
We paid for back gate passes only 5 euros and fully refunded when returned. This was much better value than the safe key - at 17 euros for the week and only 2 euros refundable deposit per apartment we felt this was a bit steep.
Like the site, apartments were spotless and serviced daily except for Sunday but we did find that bath towels were replaced with hand towels. We were short of a few bits of crockery and cutlery to start with but once reported to reception these were replaced within 2 hours. The free air con worked a treat and we really did need it! Each apartment also had its own outdoor table and chairs and clothes airer.
Much of our time on site was spent around the pool in Kiwi block - ideal for a hyper 3 year old and plenty of sun loungers for the parents (but you do have to be up early in the morning to get your towel on them - well if you can't beat them...) The smaller pools dotted around the site are chlorinated in contrast to the main salt water pool - goggles are a must for this one. The only down side to the pool areas is the slippy tiling - it really is treacherous at times - try to keep to the black tiles where possible. Despite the fact that we have just had 2 of the hottest days of the year none of the pools were ever too overcrowded. Inflatables are welcomed too!
We only ventured into the dome for an hour on the first evening vowing to go back but we didn't make it. Playa Blanca has much to offer and its only a 10 - 15 minute stroll away. What we did see of the reps in action, in the dome and with the kids clubs on site, showed a hard working and slightly mad crew! We booked a couple of day trips at the welcome meeting - a trip to the water park for all of us and the grand island tour for 3 of the older ones - not really one for the youngsters as it is a very full day. The camel ride is a must!
With an adequate on-site shop, cyber room for teenagers, village tavern (excellent entertainment from Gaz who is also a regular at Molly's bar in town if you prefer a later night's entertainment!) and good food on site and off, we were a happy bunch.
One word of warning though - buy your phone cards from the reps to call home. We bought one from the post office before we went which says it can be used for UK and international calls and despite following all the instructions we were landed with a 7 euro bill on check out!

| said: After reading the previous reports I was a bit concerned, particularly about the food and entertainment in the dome. But we found everything excellent. This was our first time with First Choice, we would definitely go with them again.
Check in at Gatwick (at 5am!) was fast and efficient. We had pre-booked seats and meals - no problems. A few weeks before we rang first choice airways direct and paid £2 per child for child-friendly meals for the kids which ours loved. If you don't do this they get the same food as adults. You can get duty free on the plane as Lanzarote is outside the EU. Coach transfer from Arrecife airport to the Sun Tropical was 30 minutes as we were the only drop off.
Hotel check in was efficient. Safety deposit box is 30 euros for 2 weeks plus a 2 euro deposit which you get back. Air con in room was excellent - available 24 hours with full controls in the room. Electricity in the room requires a key which is on the keyring with the room key, we took our electricity key off and left it in the socket so that the air con could be left on when we were out. Our apartment was very clean and surprisingly spacious, even with two sofa beds out. Balcony was big with a table and chairs, good sized clothes airer and enough space to store our pool inflatables. Phone cards for the in-room phone are available from the First Choice reps desk in reception - 10 euros for 25 mins to the UK. We also got a back gate pass for 5 euros fully refundable deposit from Hotel reception - it's worth getting as it means you have a much shorter walk to the town. A taxi from town to the back gate was only 2 euros.
The complex was very clean, the maintenance team were always cleaning (e.g. disinfecting the rubbish bins) and keeping the gardens tidy. The maid we had was excellent and swept the balcony everyday as it got very dusty. As we were All Inclusive we didn't use the cooking facilities in the room but they were fine if you needed to use them.
Things that are not included in AI: slush puppies, Walkers crisps, pool table, some evening activites for the kids e.g. chocolate party 3 euros and movie & pizza 5 euros. High ropes is 17 euros per adult and 12 euros for kids for 2 hours. Pool towels are for hire. In the evening, bingo in the dome is 2 euros per ticket, biros 50 cents. The bar staff deserve a tip as well!
This was our first All Inclusive holiday, it was worth every penny as the children were able to have as many ice creams (from the ice cream parlour 10am-6pm) and drinks as they wanted. They could also get cheeto crisps free from the ice cream parlour. If they went to get them on their own then they needed to know the room number. You don't have to eat the ice creams at the ice cream parlour - my children used to bring them to the sun loungers. The pool bar can get busy at times as there is only one person serving everyone - including doing all the cooking! In the brochure it said there was mini pizzas, hotdogs, burgers and sandwiches but there was no mini pizzas to be seen and the sandwiches were toasted cheese, toasted ham or both.
Food in the main buffet restaurant was excellent, always a range of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. Drinks were on tap (beer, wine, soft, juices, water). Kids buffet was excellent - always loads to choose from. If you are not AI then the prices for the meals in the restaurant are Breakfast 6.50 euros adults and 3.25 kids, Lunch 13.50 and 6.75, Dinner 12.50 and 6.25. We didn't use our visits to the tex mex or pizzeria restaurants as the kids prefer the buffet. Some people said they were OK but there was a more limited menu than in the buffet. If you are AI the chicken shack is not included.
On site there is a mini-supermarket that stocks most things that you may need although you may find it cheaper at Nettos in the town.
Hotel staff were very friendly.
First Choice Entertainment staff were excellent (there was a team of 6 in addition to the 3 reps, 11 kids club reps/instructors, 2 stagecoach instructors, 2 soccer school instructors and the Swim kids instructor), they worked very hard keeping everyone entertained during the day with various activities e.g. quizzes, canoeing, trampoling, skittles, french boules etc. Also they worked very hard in the evening, putting on some excellent shows that packed the dome out. Everynight there was mini disco for kids 8.15 - 9.15, bingo at 9.15 (typically the prize for a full house was 150 euros), followed by various types of shows by the reps, or a professional cabaret show e.g. snake, parrot, flamenco, etc. The resident singers (not First Choice), a male and female duo called Montego, were OK but nothing special - they tended to fill the gap between end of cabaret and chucking out time.
The kids clubs were excellent and the staff were great. My 4 year old who wouldn't go in the kids clubs last year went in them twice a day.
Kids clubs were 7 days a week. Morning sessions were:
Sylvesters age 3-5: 10-11.30; Taz age 6-8: 12-1.30. Afternoon sessions 2.30-4 and 4.30-6 for both age groups combined. There were also evening clubs 9.15-11. During the mini disco you could sign up for the following days kids clubs which was well worth it to guarantee a place.
In the dome the AI alcoholic drinks included are beer, choice of three cocktails, sangria, bacardi breezers and wine and spirits.
The main pool was enormous (even bigger than the German complex next door), deep and spacious with a lifeguard on duty 10-6. There is no real shallow end (just a shelf around the arc at one end), you need to be about 5'10" to stand up. We stayed by the main pool all the time as the apartment block pools got very busy very quickly. My husband used to go and put the towels down on the sun loungers about 8am then we would go and have breakfast and then go back to the pool. There were a few umbrellas although some were getting a bit tatty, some of the sunloungers had bits missing so you couldn't put the back up. Pool edge was very slippery - it's advisable to walk on the black edge around the pool - every day someone would fall over.
Caroline the Swim Kids instructor was excellent - well worth the money, you can book it direct with her in the complex.
There is a market in Playa Blanca on Wed and Sat morning which is worth a visit - go out the back gate and turn left, it's a 5 min walk. The First Choice reps do not tell you about it as they want you to go on their market trip to Costa Teguise.
We all had a fabulous and very relaxing holiday and would return to the Holiday Village Sun Tropical and would use First Choice again.
WELL DONE FIRST CHOICE.

Couldn't fault the complex. Very clean and all the hotel staff and holiday reps very friendly and helpful.
Although a large complex, didn't feel that it was. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Cleaned every day and beds made up.
Children were given wrist bands that entitled them to free ice cream, crisps and drinks from a specific bar.
Felt totally at ease and did not feel the need to constantly watch over children.
The entertainment is geared towards young children early evening with something for all after. Although the performances by the reps were by no means professional, they all worked extremely hard and were great fun during the day with water polo, water Olympics and quizzes etc.
Would definitely use the Sun Tropical again.

We were fairly dubious after reading various reports, but really thrilled on arrival. The reception staff were curtious and informative, the room was far more spacious than I was expecting not to mention clean.
We had a problem with our air con after a few days of being there so reported it to Anthony the rep that evening who said he would sort it.The next morning he phoned us to say the maintenance man was on his way, when we got back eveything was done ,I call that prompt service. Well done First Choice!
The All in was a great choice food was un repetative and the temp was fine. Entertainment was geared towards the kids which is why we booked, and ours loved every minute.
The reps worked really hard and I think all are slightly mad(in a good way).
We would definitely use this hotel again.

| said: I've never stayed anywhere as clean there was always somebody cleaning if it wasn't the rooms they were swilling the roads and paths or cleaning the pool, the only slight thing was the pool was salt water and very cold and we struggled to get our 3 year old daughter in.
We ate in all three restaurants and have to say never had a bad meal or belly.
The entertainment staff and reps were out of this world theres probably about 10 entertaining staff who put a great show on in the dome every evening from 8.15 mini disco till 9.15 then alsorts after that till 12pm.
The entertainer called anthony maddocks is raving mad and so funny our little girl fell in love with him and followed him round all the time.
The entertainment staff also put all sorts of entertainment on during the day poolside and on football pitch, volleyball etc, etc I don't know how they manage all that energy in the raging heat.
The weather is fabulous only 20 days rain in a year the sun is so hot but theres a lovelly breeze that comes from the sahara desert all the time.
Before we went I was worried about the heat as I burn as soon as look at the sun, but with the breeze and a decent factor 15 applied every 45 mins this is not a problem.
Had a bit of a problem on one night out at titty trollops with some shirty manageress not allowing our little girl to have a view of the stage so if you have kids who may need there pram when sleepy this ones not for you despite being advertised as for families.
Would I go again? I would never have left if I had the choice absolute paradise for kids the best holiday we've ever had.

We were in the Banana Block. Our accomodation was reasonably clean just one or to dusty bits.
Food was very good with plenty of choice. Kids really enjoyed the climbing and absailing with Jen. My son also did six days at the soccer school which he loved.
I put them in to the improvers swimming classes too they really improved a lot, Caroline the instructor managed great results in just five sessions.
The First Choice Entertainment Team were excellent and on the whole I enjoyed the entertainment provided in the Dome.
The Kids Clubs were very good I have never been with any other company who had as good a kids club structure.

| said: Returned yesterday morning 5th July at 1.35am and by 10am we were back in our travel agents requested complaint and claims forms. This has been the worst holiday I've ever experienced. I would not recommend the complex and if any one has booked all inclusive for the future id seriously think about changing to self catering.
As I type this my partner is at the doctors on the advice of our local travel agents the reason for this being on the last 4 days of our holiday the whole family (apart from the baby 7 months) came down with sickness and diaroah, my partner on the last day became so ill that a doctor was called and he had to have injections twice daily (costing a lot of money, and would you believe it the doctor actually bartered with us on the price) and was only given the all clear to fly home an hour before the coach picked us up.
We were all inclusive and blame it on the food (lets face it the baby didnt get ill and he was the only one not eating from restaurant) the food was never hot and left out for hours, sometimes lunch times food was put back out for dinner.
The week before I left I read that the Main pool was closed so contacted tour operator who informed me that the reason why I had not been written to about this was because the pool would reopen the day before I arrived (26th) and that there were no delays or extensions on this time.
Wrong the pool didnt open in fact until the 29th again being all inclusive we didnt know where to get our day time snacks and drinks so headed off site for the 1st few days, only to be told by other guests that we could have used the chicken shack not a thing was mentioned about this at the welcome meeting in fact the whole pool scenario was not mentioned at all, a word of advice dont bother with the welcome meeting all they want to do is sell there trips and gave no advice at all about the resort or complex.
Back to the pool, the complex next door is identical to the sun tropical but is a german complex, the day after our pool reopened the german pool closed and we noticed that quite a few germans were in our pool, later by accident we noticed that a small gate was unlocked and open for the german guests to come through to use our pool, this wasnt the case the weeks previous for us.
I booked this holiday 13 months ago when I was 20 weeks pregnant so pre booked a baby pack for £50 which should have included steam steriliser, uv tent, cot, playpen, highchair, pushchair, and in our room ready for arrival.
We arrived late at night firstly to no electrics working in the room then to find that we had no baby pack, by this time I really needed to sterilise my babys bottles, reception could only find an entertainer in the dome who couldnt hear me on the phone in the end she got together a battered old pram, and a cold water steriliser with 5 tablets! Sorry but I really didnt now what to do with it as there were no instructions ie how many tablets and could I use tap water as shops were shut.
Next day got worse as I was informed that no uv tents were available as they only had 3 and they were already in use, hello, I had booked 13 months in advance this pack. 3 uv tents is no where near enough on a family complex offering baby packs as an option.
The loudness of the music in the dome is awful we couldnt even hear the bingo being called out properly and ended up coming out and then spent every eve in the irish bar most nights with only ourselves for company, boring... there is definately favoritism if your self catering and by being all inclusive your not served 1st and then given half full drinks by very rude staff, also the reason I booked all inclusive was because of the kids always wanting things throughout the day, but we found that self catering kids were given yellow bands enabling them to free drinks ice creams and snacks all day!!!!!
Going back to our illness we were told that only one other family had it, but on arrival you had to be out at 7am to put your towels on the sunbeds this was not the case on our last 3 days, with half the sunbeds still being free. makes you think espeically as we were told that the doctor had been seen numerous times on site.
We have been very unlucky with this holiday and feel extremely dissapointed and let down a holiday is something you work hard and look forward to all year and I would not return to this complex even if it was free.
One final thing my partner has just returned from doctor who has told him this is not caused by the air conditioning (rep told us this) its not caused by our daughter catching it at school and brining it with us (travel agent told us this) it IS caused by food temperature, preparation etc.

| said: We stayed in kiwi block and our room had a split balcony. Unfortunately the balcony was hardly ever cleaned and as the balconies have pergola type bars over them they attracted alot ot birds. This obviously caused alot of bird mess which was all over the balcony and they did not clean it off, due to health and safety we did not allow kids to go out onto them because of it as it was all over the seats. We tried drying clothes out there and again they got covered and we had to rewash them. Our room was not cleaned very well, in the two weeks we were there we had our towels changed only twice (and one of them was only hand towels.) Apparently they will not change towels unless you pile them up in bath, even though they are supposed to be changed 3 times a week. Rep said there should have been a notice in room telling you this, but they hadn't bothered putting one in our room. Rep sorted this out for us, but then our beds were not made and room not swept out again before we left.
When we arrived the main pool and pool bar was still open, and we could get cheeseburgers and hotdogs with onions no problem, however it was advertised in brochure that you could get mini pizzas, but when we tried to order was told they did not do them, alright if you like meat but a problem for our daughter who is a veggie. When they closed the main pool and bar it was then arranged for us to get free snacks from the chicken shack. Thats when alot of people had a problem, as all of a sudden you could only have a plain hamburger and no onion on hotdog, sign outside said you could get mini pizzas as part of all inclusive, but we still could not get any. Staff in chicken shack were quite rude, you got the feeling they didn't want to serve you because you weren't paying.
Food in buffet restaurant is good, don't expect a la carte, but they do quite a good choice and its different every day. I would say though go early as it does go cold fairly quickly, but they do keep putting fresh meat out etc.
As part of all inclusive you get one free meal each week in pizzeria and tex mex, which was ok, we loooked to see how much we would have had to have paid to eat there and to be honest I don't think it is value for money as food is only average.
There is a bar called The Village Tavern on site and that was nice and barman there was a lovely friendly guy, he doesn't speak very good English but he always make you feel welcome and his own cocktail that he makes is delicious.
Overall Sun Tropical is good, entertainment is aimed at kids, but it is a family village aimed at families.
Evening entertainment is in the Dome, its a bit loud, so be warned, entertainment team do there best and always try to keep kids occupied.
We had a really good holiday and would go back again, only thing that annoyed us really was the problem with the free daytime snacks and cleaner not changing towels in room.

| said: I booked this as a late deal and was somewhat nervous after reading previous reviews. I can only say that I needn't have worried. The check in was quick and efficient. We were situated in the Strawberry block just outside of reception.
I very much liked this cul de sac as there was a garden in the middle as opposed to some of the others that had pools. This made it nice and quiet through the day if we were sun bathing. Other blocks had either pools, gardens or jacuzzis. Them main pool was closed during our stay as it is getting repainted. This didn't bother us at all as there are plenty of other areas to sun yourself in.
The food was very good. I do not take a cooked breakfast myself but my husband did say that that was somewhat disappointing. Plenty of other things to be had though.
Lunch and dinner were varied every night and I thought they were of a fine standard for an All Inclusive property. The food in such establishments is never five star but I am a fussy eater and I can honestly say that I enjoyed my food every day.
The maids cleaned the room every day except Sunday and seemed to make a good job of it. Ask at Reception for a back door card key. You pay a 5 euro deposit but get this back when you hand your card in. This makes the walk to the resort much quicker.
The resort is not very far away anyway and we found it a very nice walk in the evening. Hire a car if you want to make the most of the island as admission to the attractions is ether free or about 8 euros (Timanfaya/Jameos del Agua)and considering what the operators charge for excursions, hiring a car suddenly becomes a very good option.
I would definitely travel to the Sun Tropical again as I had a very enjoyable holiday. There are a lot of kids there but they have plenty of activities and things to do so are not really running wild. I would however recommend it mostly for families who will probably not be able to fault it.

| said: Well where do I start???? We are a family of 2 adults and 2 kids,we have just returned from the hell-hole which is - sun tropical, playa-blanca.
We stayed 2 weeks all inclusive between 26/05/05 and 09/06/05 , the complex itself on first appearance looks quite nice and is a vast overall area.
We were situated in the kiwi block, nice looking room, all kitchen facilities etc, split balcony overlooking pool the only probs here were the balcony area was never cleaned the railings around the balcony are absolutely plastered in pigeon and bird mess(which is a serious risk to health as pigeon mess carries various diseases, twice my little boy came running in with mess all over his hands).
The bath towels are changed 3-times weekly (most times being replaced by 4 small hand towels which in my opinion is not enough for a family of 4 bathing once each per night.
Food at sun tropical mediocre at best and thats at all eateries within complex,-main restaurant quite small to normal and not much choice also everything thats served seems to be runny!! Beware!
We were all inclusive (word of advise to all travelling within next 2 weeks------ main pool area etc is closed!!!!!!! and fenced off till 27/06
Our first week there the main pool etc was still open and to be honest the problems didnt seem to materialise untill it was shut down and fenced off!!
None of the sunbeds that were around the main pool were brought out they were all left inside, propping up the fence!
So as you can imagine suddenly you have the same amount of people trying to get beds around 4 small block pools with a limited amount of beds(again managements fault, there seems to be a defect in the management at this place, either they dont know what they are doing or they dont care!!!
(basics)
The pools are not heated and very slippery, be carefull!!! At the food centre you have 3 restaurants- chicken shack, tex-mex and pizzaria because we were all inclusive and the pool bar had been shut we were told that we could now get our food and drink from the chicken shack up till 18.00 in the day.
The standard of food etc here is shocking, and frightening I witnessed uncooked and over cooked food being returned here on a daily basis there is a distingtive difference in the food you are served if you are all inclusive to the food you are served if you are self catering. This is just my opinion but it feels as if you are a second class citizen in this complex if you are all inclusive!
We had problems getting cheese on burgers and onions on hot dogs etc staff refusing this that and everything. Ridiculous you were not allowed a beer in a glass during the day (inside the chicken shack if all inclusive but if self catering no probs whatsoever!!!!! (again managements fault!!
Staff at this complex in total dissaray no guidance whatsoever from their superiors, hence they dont know what they should be serving and to be totally honest most of them are pig ignorant and downright unpleasant!!
You are allowed to eat in the pizzaria and tex-mex 1 time each during a weeks stay, you have to book this at reception between 10.30 and 12.30 that day!!
To be honest the pizzaria restaurant is prob the best but just another little tip for you,, when you go to the tex mex and order your meal if you have the steak etc.
Check around and see if there is someone eating in there self catering and just compare the size of their meal to yours on talkin to other people (self catering who have eaten here) there again seems to be a significant difference between self catering and all inc!!
The village tavern is downstairs in the food centre and is really good, the barman there gets the pint glasses out of the fridge frozen nice cold pint, also lot of footy etc shown here!!
It is advisable to get a card pass for rear gate from reception (saves walking all the way around if you go to beach) gate located by dome and row of flags!!!
Another tip if you have a late flight back home is:- make sure you book a late departure room when you book holiday in England as the hotel itself does not have the facility to do this once your there!!! Be warned!!
The first choice entertainment team do there best with what they have to work with(which isnt a lot)play various games during the day ie, french boules, quizzes etc mainly kiddy games!
Enquired the other day to 1 of the reps about getting a dart board and playing killer darts etc we played this at our last hotel and it bought all the adults and kids together everyone got to know each other and had a laugh, but the reps answer to this was that they have repeatedly asked for these sort of games to no avail!! (apparently a dart board is too dangerous, but they are in the process of setting up the archery enclosure!!!!!! (crazy)
Subsequently there is not a lot for the adults to do around the complex during the day!!
We hired a car for 4 days from the English girl in reception, very good service nice girl and as cheap as hire shops in playa blanca (which is unusual).
Went on camel safari approx 15 mins from complex in car and you paid 10 euros for camel with 2 seats, bargain,, kids loved it!! Also did volcano at Timanfiya and water park at costa teguise,,water park very dear 21 euros adult 15 euros kids, worth it though!!
The dome at the complex is where all the evening entertainment is conducted, seems to be based totally around kids which was good for us but I honestly cant see you using it if you have no kids, very loud even for us!!!!!
Most of the entertainment seems to be reps shows with very little outside entertainment being bought in!! You get the feeling of seen 1 seen them all by the end of the 1st week this is why you will find that most people slope off as the show starts and finish the night off in the village tavern in the food centre!! (see for your self when you go)
To be fair though the kids did enjoy the mini disco at 20.15 and the bingo at 21.30!!
There were a few staffing problems in the dome various nights where you would see 1 barman serving on his own and an ever growing que of people trying to get a drink whilst he is frantically trying to phone for help with 1 hand and serve with the other, he was a star that boy!! (again no management) Wheres the organisation???
One night one of the first choice reps was even having to collect the glasses from the tables as he had run out!!!!!!
Outside of the dome there is a volleyball pitch and a football pitch-- astro- turf ,, no one ever seemed to use the volleyball pitch but the kids were always inside the footy enclosure!!!!!
But 3 days before our return the gate on the footy pitch was locked and no one allowed in!!! Apparently there were some first chioce bosses due out so the gate had to be locked!!!!
When I asked about this the reason is that you have to join the soccer school which is run by first choice (chargeable) and the only time it is to be used is during the training matches etc with them!
I asked where else my kids could go to play footy then? But there is no where else!! (unbelievable)
That day I witnessed several kids returning with there balls because they could not get through the gate!! This complex is vast, and the only footy enclosure they have you have to pay for!!! (be warned).
All in all there were no major problems but all the little things made this one of my worst all inc holidays ever!
The sun tropical has the ability to be the best complex in Playa Blanca if not the whole of lanzarote!!
If only there was a bit more thought and the staff were better managed hardly any of the problems you have read here would exist!!!!
Dont forget though the main pool area and bar were closed during our stay this I think is what sent everything into turmoil!! All in all I dont think I would risk returning to this particular place!!!
I know that a lot that I have had to say is negative but the point of giving a holiday review is to be open and honest about what you have experienced!!!
and no I am not some old fuddy duddy who hated the kids running round me etc I am 33 yrs old and my kids are 7 and 4 !!!
P.S.Iif you are travelling here before 27/06 pls remember the main pool and bar area are closed. I say this as there must have been 30 people who had arrived during our stay who did not recieve notification of this and only knew about it on their arrival!!!!

The hotel, pools, gardens and surrounding areas were kept exceptionally clean with staff working on this daily.
The food was a self serve buffet but was always hot and fresh. There was always something to capture all of our taste buds even for the children. It was also very tasty. The only down side which is not really one was that it did get very busy at times. The food at the poolside bar was not very inspiring and did take a long time to cook.
The hotel staff were very friendly and always happy to help with information, extra towels etc.
We visited the Dome daily for mini disco which was very good for the children they loved it!! Although we did not use the kids clubs all the entertainment staff and kids reps were very friendly and good with the children.
We also visited the Village Tavern in the food centre most nights and this had a good atmosphere and some entertainment. Also had some football matches on!! We also visited the Tex Mex restaurant twice and the food was delicious!!
There are only really a couple of things to be aware of. There are only a few baby change facilities in the whole complex which is a bit of a pain. Also the areas around the pool are very slippery so be careful. Having said that we had a fantastic time and would definitely go back again!!

| said: We have just got back from our visit to Sun Tropical and I can say we had realy enjoyable stay.
The hotel was very clean, the gorgeous gardens were constantly being looked after and the pools were lovely.
We went self catering so we did eat out quite often but what food we did eat in the complex was ok, not the best but we could of put up with it for the week if we had of gone all inclusive.
The pool side bar wasn't great the food was not very nice and they didn't have much choice but we got our drinks from there which was all we realy needed so we didnt mind.
The supermarket was quite expensive and I was charged twice for things a couple of times so watch the screen when your shopping is being scanned. Other than that everything was great.
The staff were great and the reps were excellent. The kids reps were not so good though we went on a night excursion and our two year old was supposed to be being looked after but they were to busy talking and didnt even notice our son wonder off, luckily he came straight back to us but it happened two or three times.
I cant really comment much on the entertainment as we only visited the Dome once it is great for the kids and my son seemed to enjoy it.
The location of the hotel was fine we had a card to the back gate and the town was only 10 mins away which was also a lovely walk.
All in all it was a great holiday and we would visit sun tropical again.

The pools were great a bit slippy though so be carefull. My little girl was 1 and she enjoyed time in the tweety creche Jenny was fantastic with her. Lewis 7 enjoyed the kids clubs.
The hotel staff was very friendly and done there best to help you. The location of the hotel was 10 mins away from Playa Blanca it was a lovely walk. When you arrive get a card from the back gate you will get a refund on this when leaving.
The entertainment was great and the entertainment team worked very hard. I would definately visit this again. We are planning to go back in October this year. There are no cars aloud on the resort so your children can walk about at ease. The dome is really good I would recommend the snake show it was great.
The accoustics were great I think they have sorted the problem which people are stating below. The bingo is also another good one money to be won. We also hired a car from reception which was very good and the cars are fitted with car seat if required.
I would recommend a visit round the island. There are plenty of places to eat in Playa Blanca and alot of shops. I WOULD ADVISE dont buy any electrical equipment due to them ripping you off. If you are be very carefull, cause they are always trying to take you in and sell you something and name your price 9/10 they will take yours.
Also take a visit to Teguise market it is a great day out and plenty to buy. I would recommend this place as a family holiday only.

The food was a different story. We went to the Mexican restaurant and the menu was not very good and did not have much choice, and there weren't many 'Mexican' dishes you usually find, so we walked out. The chicken restaurant was the same. We ate in the pizza restaurant and that was ok but expensive. The waitress was not very polite either.
The location of the hotel was ok, although it was just over a mile into Playa Blanca, which was ok in the afternoon as there was a free bus every hour but at night it was either walk or get a taxi which was appox £1.50 each way.
We did not go to any of the entertainment as it was directed solely at families and children.
Overall the hotel was good

| said: This was my 2nd visit to Sun Tropical, stayed for 2 weeks in May last year.
On this visit I travelled with my 2 kids & my mum. It was nice to see some minor improvements, i.e. there is now some shade by the pool side bar & a pool table (1 euro a game).
The hotel was very clean & tidy.
We stayed in the Kiwi block which has a pool directly outside & is only a short stroll to the Dome where all the evening entertainment takes place.
There wasn't a big rush for sunbeds on a morning, however would suggest you get 1 before 9am as they have usually gone by then.
The evening entertainment is mainly aimed at families starting with mini disco at about 8.15pm followed by bingo & quiz at about 9.15pm. After that it is usually a cabaret show either by the reps or they have something like a flamenco show. Personally I preferred the reps entertainment!
The food wasn't brilliant but was edible. Had a choice of usually fish, meat dish & vegetarian dish. There is also a separate kid’s buffet which usually had chicken nuggets, burgers, sausage etc. There was also soup, salad, rice & potatoes. The desert counter had improved with a choice of cakes, ice-cream & fruit.
The kids enjoyed kids clubs, my 9 year old especially enjoyed Wavelength. Kids clubs run up to 3 times a day including evening sessions. (Some sessions may cost you up to 5 euros though!)
I would go back again for 1 week maybe next year. Lovely break!

| said: Stayed here for a week self catering last week.
The weather was reasonable but windy. The hotel rooms whilst clean were very cold and the beds were damp.
The reps at the complex were awful! There were 4 and they had no organisational skills at all.( the airport transfer rep sam was good). We tried to move accomodation and couldn't then they told us they couldnt move our room.
Then they found us somewhere and when I asked them what it was like they answered" well its not very nice to be honest!" the complex felt very much like a holiday camp prison, I imagine it would be great if you have children. it was like butlins in the sun!
First choice on the other hand were absolutely awful! their reps were poor, the lack of organisation at the airport was poor, the flight attendants and flight service was very poor. Over an hour in the air before served a drink and I was in row 4!
Great accomodation if you want the holiday camp all inclusive holiday. Couples or older people I would recommend anywhere else in Playa Blanca as it was lovely.
This whole complex is first choice even the curtains are there's!
Never again will I go anywhere with first choice!

| said: A last minute booking, and booked in the knowledge that it was a bit out of town, but seemed reasonable standard. The hotel is of a good standard - rooms are comfortable, fairly modern in style with TVs, air conditioning and a balcony or terrace.
Our weather was not ideal however, and the rooms were cold - in fact sheets were damp and it was very draughty. Reception will hire a heater (for 20 euros) as well as all sorts of other goodies - DVD players, CD players etc.
The location is not ideal - it’s about a twenty minute walk into town, and the whole complex is fenced in. In order to save walking all the way round to get to town, you can pay 5 euros deposit for a swipe card. It did feel a bit claustrophobic.
Restaurants on site are reasonable, both in quality and price.
We're not much for group 'entertainment', but there is a large auditorium and a few entertainment staff, so if that’s your thing then it might be good enough. Lots of cash bingo, kids disco etc. - as I say if that floats your boat...
Much less impressed with the reps. As usual reps get together contain one minute of resort info, one minute of island info, and half and hour banging on about excursions and which is their favourite. We required their help once, and they were useless to be honest. Additionally they were posted missing at the airport when the conveyors broke - that’s another story though...
In short this is nice standard of hotel/rooms, but much more suited to families of those who like being in a complex.

| said: My husband and I stayed at the Sun Tropical for a week in February 2005. First impression was that the hotel was clean and well kept.
The room cleaners were polite and thorough, although we were only given 2 sets of towels for the week - any that were dirty and left on the floor were taken but not replaced after that.
Our self-catering apartment was lovely and spacious. The kitchenette had everything that we needed and we ate well each morning.
We were in Kiwi block overlooking one of the small pools which was lovely. People did reserve sunbeds but it wasn't a problem for us personally - just depends how you're planning to spend your time.
We had a lovely big balcony which was a real suntrap. We didn't really use any of the facilities as we were just using the hotel as a base and went into town every day & night. However, the Dome is a bit lame unless you've got kids - just my opinion.
One complaint is that the acoustics out on the landing outside our room were awful - just like in a swimming pool. As soon as anyone walked past or spoke it was magnified. This doesn't help when inconsiderate people are rolling home in the small hours or when the cleaners start out on the landing at 7am!!
A few bits of advice: - The pool tiles are slippery, keep to the black ones round the edge. Pay at Reception for a card for the back gate, it's only a few Euros and it allows you to get in and out when ever you want without having to walk right round.

| said: I hate to give negative reports on hotels especially to people who have yet to visit but I feel this complex does not live up to expectations and would not return.
The apartments are very clean and cannot really be faulted. The complex is very modern and it is a very safe environment for children as there is no access for cars etc.
The pools are not heated which is a real shame - as they look fantastic but basically for the two weeks we were there in January they were far too cold to be used so everybody just sat around them but nobody dare venture in for more than 10 seconds. The staff on the resort are used to fielding complaints about the pools - in the brochure it says they are climatised but this apparently does not mean heated !!
We have some friends who went to the hotel in October who warned us that we would not be able to use the pools - I didn't believe them but they were right.
The food is adequate but after the first week we began to spend money eating out despite the fact we were all inclusive as it was rather repetitive.
To say that the resort is geared towards families we were disappointed with the kids club which we had expected to be top notch. The club was safe to leave kids in but the things they were doing were unimaginative - if you were to compare it to somehere like the Kids Clubs in Centre Parcs for example it does not even come close. Young girls left in charge of 20 plus kids just trying to survive until the parent's return would be how I would describe it.
The entertainment takes place in the dome and similar to the food it was adequate but became repetitive with time. The reps are all young and don't have real passion about what they do.
We spent the last 4 days of our holiday at a hotel in the resort called the Rubicon Palace which totally outclasses the holiday sun village in every way. It costs a lot more but then I suppose you get what you pay for.
I saw that an earlier comment had described the resort as like Butlins. That comment is spot on. I have nothing against Butlins and have spent many happy weekends there but - two weeks at a Butlins camp is probably too much for most people !!

The complex is like an upmarket butlins but alot newer and a lot cheaper and cleaner.
We didnt eat in the on site pizza/tex-mex and it looked empty all week. We were advised not to by nearly everybody we spoke to.
The staff were very friendly and couldnt be more helpful.
The rooms were not the most comftable ,quite basic but clean.
The entertainment was okay nothing to write home about the fact the kids can run around safely is a bonus.
5 swimming pools okay in the summer but as they were not heated nobody used them but it is January. (Nice beaches 3 euros in a taxi)
I would go again because I thought it was good value for money and the fact there is a good kids club you get a couple of hours a day to your self.

They are also well laid out and by a pool or climbing frame ours was by a pool.
Food good not a la carte but there was some lovely food no problem with children eating and staff happy to help.
Apartments close to Playa Blanca 10 min walk or quick taxi. Playa Blanca lovely small town with nice beach and good selection of night life, restaurants and bars. Shops not lots but good selection.
Staff very helpfull and friendly.
Children loved the entertainment but it is centred around families the snake show is a must.
I would certainly vist these apartments again .

We stayed self catering and although it was a reasonable walk to the beach and harbour we really enjoyed the excercise.
The complex has really good facilities and was very well laid out.
The town was close enough without being too close and has some excellent restaurants.
The promenade which has been recently completed along the harbour and sea front was a particular bonus to us.
Would not hesitate to visit again or recommend to friends.
The only downside we felt was the reception staff were not particularly helpful or efficient but this was a minor irritation.

| said: Cannot fault the cleanliness of this hotel. Agree with most of the other comments about the pool area and the rooms.
We found the food more than adequate for all our needs, having two children ages 8 and 13 they were very happy with the various choices.
The bar staff in the Dome were a little difficult at times but as we went with friends our order was usually for 20 people.
The entertainment was great considering the summer staff had just left and new staff were just arriving. Michael and his team did a really good job and brought a lot of humour to our holiday. We did win bingo and the quizzes many times during our stay so apologies to other guests. Being such a large group we usually had someone taking part in the daytime activities and the children and adults were equally pleased with the choice. Something for everyone.
Our teenagers were grateful for the IT room and found 1 euro for 10 mins great for catching up with friends back home. The teenagers club was a bit of a no go for them as the starting age was 9, not really cool for 13 yr olds to want to hang with 9 yr olds..!!! Or so I’m told. Maybe if the ages were 13 to 16 it would be a more acceptable to them..!!
Would definitely go back. Worth mentioning this is an English only hotel for First Choice and everything is set up for a great holiday.

| said: We have visited Lanzarote on many occasions and always stayed all inclusive but unfortunately the Sun Tropical did not live up to our expectations.
The food was uninteresting and could not believe that they served chips for breakfast!
We ate at the Tex Mex restaurant once, but would not return, we didn't even try the Pizzeria. When we got to the second week we decided to eat out in town.
Our teenagers enjoyed the entertainment at the Dome, even though you could not understand what was being said most of the time due to the acoustics being bad. Us parents spent most evenings on our balcony.
The apartments were clean and spacious although if we had been self catering I would not say the facilities were adequate enough.
Our 5 year old daughter enjoyed spending 2/4 hours a day at the kids club, but our teenagers would not go near the Wavelength club!
I think the mixture of All Inclusive, Half Board and Self Catering did not work well at this hotel as people who had to pay for their food and drinks were queuing up with families who had already pre paid and it could take a long time to be served as there were very little staff available to serve the guests, especially in the Dome after 9pm.
The pools around the complex were very good and catered for all ages, although if you were All Inclusive you could only get bar snacks and drinks at the main pool bar, which was inconvenient on occasions as our apartment was situated at the other end of the complex. The cream coloured tiles around the pool were very dangerous/slippery when wet, keep to the black, volcanic looking tiles around the edge of the main pool if you don't want your children to fall over.
The excursions offered were very good, we went on a day trip on a Catamaran, with drinks and food included. We lazed around, snorkelled, tried a jet ski and had a fabulous day out, well worth the money!!
The First Choice entertainers were definately at their peak when we visited as they were due to go home on the day we left!! Our teenage children enjoyed the nightly/daily entertainment, but the adults found it very monotonous after the first week, we preferred to go into town.
We would most definately return to the island, but not to the Sun Tropical.

Found some staff very rude but on the whole it is a very safe and friendly place.
Special thanks must go to katie and nick for giving us a fantastic time. If you have a young family this place is a must however it is a bit out of town, we will definatley go back although i dont think i would like to go in July or August it would be just to busy.

| said: We have just returned from our 2 week holiday at the Sun Tropical. We had a wonderful two weeks and cannot wait to return to Lanzarote.
The first thing that struck us about the hotel was the cleanliness. We even had a giggle at how many cleaners there were in the place. They even polish the bins!! It was spotless and not a bug in sight.
The rooms are plenty big enough for a family of four and have a small kitchenette containing a two ring hob, kettle, toaster, juicer, fridge, saucepans etc. Tha lounge area has satellite tv, coffee table, small wardrobe and a cupboard, a sofa bed and a pull out bed. The double bedroom has an ample wardrobe and bedside cabinets.(And beds of course).
The bathroom is what you would expect from a bathroom, but did have a hairdryer mounted on the wall. It wasn't much good for me though as I have long hair and would have been drying all night, but it takes the dampness off.
The main buffet restaurant is ok. Breakfasts were fine, the usual fry up. I only had hard eggs on two occasions. The toaster tends to be a little temperamental and slow at times, but hey...we were on holiday so whats the rush!!!
There were plenty of cereals to choose from and also fresh fruit and the good old continental breakfast.
Can't really comment on the lunchtime food as we only ventured down for lunch on our last day but what we had was fine.
We didn't have the same evening meal once the whole time we were there. There was soup for starter. No other starter that we could see but then there was fruit on the dessert side and always fish on the buffet, so suppose you could have those for starters.
The main dishes were various meat dishes. All well cooked and tasty although I will say that they were never hot, only warm. My mother in law did struggle on a few occasions as she only eats chicken and some nights all the meat was red meat. There was always pasta and sauce and a potato dish. My only gripe there is that there was only one potato dish per sitting, either new or chips or croquettes or swirls, but it didn't seem to bother any of us too much. The salad bar was always well stocked and fresh so no complaints there.
We did find that there wasn't much choice on the kiddies buffet. There were chips every night, pasta and sauce and a meat dish. It wasn't too much of a problem for us as the kids can eat from the main buffet anyway. The kids food was also often cold.
The puds were ok. There was a choice of four different ice creams each night, various fruit, fresh and tinned, different gateaux.
Drinks were free flowing, beer, wine, fruit juice, tea, coffee etc.
We ate in the Tex-Mex restaurant three times and once in the pizzeria. You are allowed one visit per week to each of the restaurants, but found that if we ditched the pizzeria on the second week we could go again to the Tex- Mex. Not because we didn't like the pizzeria, we just preffered the Mexican. The kids food in both restaurants was fine and the pizzas, bolognaise and lasagne all fine in the pizzeria.
The steaks in the Tex- Mex were lovely but the chip portions were small, so order a side salad aswell or extra chips. Try the Mexican fillet steak. Spicy but nice.
We never used the chicken shack as it is not part of the all inclusive package. Just a warning, the bar area there isn't either.
The pool bar food was ok. They did toasties, burgers, hot dogs and pizza slices but were prone to getting the orders wrong by the end of the holiday. I think a new member of staff was on and he rarely got the orders right, but it gave us all a laugh!! Nothing to complain about.
While we were there, two pergolas were built either side of the pool bar to provide some much welcome shade as there was none at all, so full marks to Sun Group for that.
During our stay, my Mum did ask for a parasol, only to be told that we had to hire one from reception. Needless to say she blew her top. There were five parasols in total around the pool area which was obviously not enough. On the day that we were leaving, loads of new parasols were brought out, so don't worry about the lack of shade as there will be plenty now.
The pool side is very slippery, but as we were forwarned, we all took our time when walking around the pool and once the kids realised how slippery it was, they too learned to tread carefully. We didn't have any major accidents. We did see a couple of kids come a cropper though, but if you walked normally on it, you were fine. The black volcanic stone immediatly beside the pool is not slippery, so just tell the kids when running round the pool, to stay on the black stuff. The pool toilets were always kept very clean and the pool area was spotless.
The pool itself is one depth all over, about 5 foot deep, but we just kept our youngest in armbands and it didn't prove to be a problem for us. It was fairly warm too and lovely to swim in. We didn't use any of the other pools on the complex.
The first choice entertainment team put on games throughout the day for kids and adults, so the older kids in our party were well catered for.. The water polo is very tiring.... you have been warned. But fun!!! You must take look at the crazy golf...it will have you in stitches!!!
Two of our party joined the kids club. They were both 11 and went to Rancho Texas for the day and had a great day by all accounts.
We did enrol our youngest for swimming lessons but after the first one he decided that he didn't want to go again,(awkward 5 year old) but the teacher was very good and I would recommend it.
The Dome..... well what can I say? The First Choice team do try and work hard but the acoustics in the dome are awful. The further round you sit, the less you can hear and there doesn't seem to be a thing that anyone can do about it. The entertainment is cabaret style and ok for kids I suppose but we had kids in our group ranging from 5 to 16 and every one of them was bored stiff most nights. The african dance group were ok, and the acrobatic couple with the snakes weren't too bad. There is a parrot show on earlier in evening and we missed it both times, but I think that might be worth a look. The resident singers are ok, but again you cannot hear them properly. And then there is the Bingo EVERY night.(yawn). Not bad prizes though!! I know some people might enjoy this, but it wasn't our cup of tea. If the kids had been entertained, we would have all been happy, but that wasn't to be most nights. Also, you cannot have a converastion in the Dome, purely because of the noise and echoing around the building.
The barmen were friendly and we always got served relatively quickly. Not bad considering there were 17 of us in total.
The village tavern was ok, but lacked atmosphere I'm afraid, but at least you could be heard in there. We did have a problem one night that the barman refused to serve drinks at 11.50pm. Make sure that they serve you up until 12 o'clock and don't let them get away with it. Also there is a local bottled drink that is very similar to Smirnoff Ice that you can have on all inclusive, but one night a barman said that we had to pay for it. You do not, so don't let them try to pull that one either!!
The walk into town takes about 15-20 mins and is not a bad walk. Taxis are cheap though and much easier. The back gate is open from 10am until 6pm and it does take a little longer to walk all the way round when the gate is closed. At night the road is unlit and very dark so if you have little ones, I would get a taxi home. Taxis cost us about 2.65 euros at night. A bit cheaper in the day.
On the whole, we had a great holiday, the complex is lovely. The daytimes there are wonderful and the night times are as much fun as you make them!! We all enjoyed ourselves anyway.

Very clean, good staff, specially the entertainment people who work very hard. Bit of a pain when the gate at the bottom of the complex closes and you have a longer walk into town.
Entertainment is what you make it. If you're expecting Phantom of the Opera, it ain't happening. If you want a laugh and to be entertained then you'll be fine.
Quiet at night. Great place for families!

We found the selection of food very limited, warm and never hot, chips was on the menu for breakfast and dinner!! The rooms were very clean and tidy and ideal size. Location was fine, the "small" sandy beach was only 20 minute stroll with a pram, didn't really need to leave the complex as it had everything there we needed for ourselves and our daughter especially.
As mentioned in other reviews, the areas around the pools was very slippery for adults/children. We was advised by one of the parents to put socks on our child which definately worked and she hardly slipped over with them on.
Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. First Choice Reps entertainment during the day was good especially the "mini disco" at 8pm every night our daughter really enjoyed it,even bought the CD. The reps were so good with the kids. Adult entertainment was fine by the local groups, something for everyone really.
I would definately visit this hotel again but would go self catering next time due to the poor quality of food and lack of variety.

| said: I found my holiday here very enjoyable, there were always staff hovering around cleaning and there standards were quite good, sandy floors were emaculate when we came back to the apartment every night.
The food was good, I could pick minor faults but nothing to complain about and for the capacity on which they were cooking I thought it was very good although there had been a major shake up just before we went.
The location of the hotel had its downsides as we were 15 minutes from beach and town and the only view from certain areas of the complex was building sites, they entertainment was great after a few drinks, the entertainment staff were great and they gave it everything, it was a bit butlins but that was what we were expecting and was not dissapointed and with four children to keep happy we did not mind pantos and mini discos.
The visiting entertainment was good as well. The hotel reps were great and they had some complaints while we were there but they kept there spirits up and plodded on.
We did several trips while we were there and most of them were well worth the money espically the cabaret by several of the reps from different resorts. I would highly recommend this place to anybody with children as I think you can only enjoy your holiday if they are having fun and our lot loved this place.

| said: We went all inclusive but we would not recommend this given the current quality of the food served, which is very poor. Also, it is confusing as to which bars and restaurants serve the all inclusive menus.
The resort is well served by pools although the surface around the pools is slippery and dangerous for small children. The rooms are well cleaned and the resort is well kept.
Also, be mindful that the sports court is not open all day. The reps only give access at certain times and I know this caused problems and moans as many budding footballers were thrown off the court.

| said: We stayed at the Sun Tropical, all inclusive. We had a fantastic holiday. Everything about it was brilliant except for the food. If we went again, we would go self catering. Sun Tropical was immaculately clean at all times. Our maids kept our room lovely, leaving us swans and baskets made from the towels etc. The hotel was about fifteen minutes walk away from main town, but we used taxis as only cost about three euros.
The hotel staff were always there to help.
The first choice reps worked so hard for the two weeks we stayed there. Babs especially made our holiday more enjoyable. I would definately recommend Sun Tropical but on a self catering basis.

| said: The hotel was cleaned regularly in most public areas, although the apartment block stair wells were not cleaned and there was a build up of fag ends and sweet wrappers over the week. Room cleaning was good.
We were on half board, so felt obliged to eat in the canteen-type restaurant each breakfast and dinner time. There were plenty of dishes left out under the heated lamps, but not much in the way of fresh vegetables and fruit. There were times when the flies were all over the food, so we tended to arrive as the restaurant opened. Two wild cats tried to eat food fron the tables outside each day. Breakfast fried eggs solidified after a few minutes under the heat lamps. However, none of us had a tummy upset and no one went hungry. We did feel a little left out when there were so many AI holiday makers, especially the kids.
The pools were lovely, although the surrounding tiles would not be allowed at any British pool because they were like glass when wet. All the sun beds had been nabbed by 11 am each day, some times remaining unused for 4-5 hours. There was not enough shade at the main pool and nothing at all at the tiny paddling pools.
The general staff were fantastic, especially in the restaurants. The hotel managers were not good. We had a recurring problem with a faulty fire alarm going off in the night. When this was mentioned to the FC reps, they first tried to fob us off with excuses, then said the hotel was fully responsible for training their staff and that FC trusted them to comply with British safety standards. All I'll say is that the manager was arranging for all his nighttime staff to be re-trained as we left.
The Kids club staff were disappointing. The 3-8 age group was supposed to be split into 3-5 year olds (Sylvester) and 6-8 year olds(Taz). However, they were all lumped together, even in the small ball pool where smaller children were shoved out of the way by bigger kids. One day they refused to take charge of a bottle of water for my 3 year old when they went out for the day, saying she had to look after it herself (in the end, my 7 year old had to look after her little sister). On another trip, sold as a "relaxing time for parents as your children are looked after by our kids reps", the kids reps did nothing except sun bathe. Although the club was "free", there were plenty of extra charges: 7 euros for a photo, 2 euros each for a chocolate party (my kids had 1 small square of chocolate each!), 5 euros each for a slice of pizza as they watched a video, 2 euros each to go to another kids birthday party because the free kids activity had been cancelled, ...!
The entertainment team were good. Very friendly and enthusiastic. The kids loved the mini discos each night. We weren't really into the bingo each evening and we missed most of the adult entertainment because it didn't start until 10pm. The kids were too tired to stay up.
The best things about our holiday were the swimming pools (although the surrounding tiles were dangerously slippery when wet), The Swim Kids lessons (3 year old learned to swim), Mini-discos and the entertainment staff for the kids, and the "free" kids club.
Although the hotel had its good points, we won't be going back: Playa Blanca too quiet, poor food, worrying fire safety procedures.

There was always a lifeguard round the pool too, which is great when you have young children.
The food in the hotel was also fine plenty to choose from every day and plenty choice for kids.
The hotel was quite a way from everything but is was only a twenty minute walk to the beach so not too bad, or taxi was cheap.
Hotel staff were helpful and spoke good English which helps.
The entertainment well what can I say - outstanding. It was great kids loved it. Mini disco every night. The staff were fab especially Nick Kid and Lucy Goss my kids still talk about them quite a lot.
I would definitely go back to this resort we didn't want to leave.
Guaranteed a fab time if you go here.

| said: We have just arrived back from the Sun Troipcal, and must say we have all really enjoyed our stay there and would recommend it to anyone. The only small gripe would have been if I was going on an All Inclusive holiday. Even though we were Self Catering we used all three of the four on site restarants. The main one as far as we were concerend was really over priced for what you got given and there was not really that much choice either. But I must say what food there was was really nice. The holiday complex was always being get clean and tidy.and most of the staff were very friendly. The complex itself was a good 15 minutes walk to the beach come harbour, and it was a very hard walk in the middle of the day, due to the sun. But Taxis were always at hand. The First Choice entertainment team were fantastic and kept everyone informed on all day activities, the shows in the evening, of which some were done by the entertainment team were really good. I would sometime in the future visit this resort again, but to be honest I have a lot more places that I want to go to first.

| said: Just got back from Sun Tropical Apartments this morning and felt the truth needed to be told about this resort especially if you are looking to take up the All Inclusive package.
Firstly, the Sun Tropical apartments and the complex were kept very clean. During the day, there was always cleaners and gardeners working around the complex.
All apartments were made up of a large living area with Satellite TV, bed settee, and a small kitchen discreetly placed behind a shutter door with a microwave, fridge, sink and cupboards filled with kettle, toaster, glasses, and dishes so that we could prepare food if we wanted. There was also a separate double bedroom and good size bathroom with bath and shower.
Maid service was excellent and towels were changed every other day in the room.
The food was average in the main buffet restaurant because it was a canteen mentality of mass produced food left under "warmers" so you had to time it right when new dishes were put out otherwise the food could be left out for a while before it was being replaced.
Starters were limited to 2 types of soup and sometimes the description did not resemble what was being served.
Main Courses for adults and children were mainly a selection of different dishes which never really went together and was left to choose between a pasta dish, a fish dish, a "veal" dish, a chicken dish, but with not much to go with them other than salad, cold meats or a type of potato.
Desserts were very poor and some days there was only rum and raison ice cream to choose from which not many children like. Also, the fruits were a mixture of fresh melon, watermelon, but sadly let down by tinned mixed fruits, tinned peaches and tinned pineapple rings. Every day there would be a banana mousse also.
The food in the Tex-Mex and Pizzeria was average and was all prepared in the "Chicken Shack" kitchens and seemed to be reheated as and when ordered. Also, as part of the All Inclusive package, you were only allowed to eat in these restaurants once a week but the "Chicken Shack" restaurant is not included as part of the package which is not clearly shown in the First Choice brochure. Therefore, you have the choice of 3 restaurants and not the 4 as stated in the brochure.
Also, be very careful that you do not fall into the trap which we did when we eat at the Mexican restaurant.
This involves the staff telling you that you are only allowed certain things off the menu as you are "all inclusive". This is rubbish and if it does happen, ask to speak to the manager of the hotel as our Rep was also unawares of this happening until we pointed it out. This was also the case at the Italian restaurant which when we were told we could have a choice of pizzas and not the pasta dishes. You can have anything off the menu in both the Italian and the Mexican restaurants as part of the All inclusive deal!!
The food at the pool bar was very good for a snack where you could have a hot-dog, burger, toasted sandwich, ice cream or alcoholic / non-alcoholic beverages. The staff there were very friendly especially Josep who was always smiling and very courteous.
Also, the brochure states that the All Inclusive package includes "unlimited" ice-cream for children. This is not actually true as there is a small selection of ice creams and lollies which are free but the majority are chargeable. This is quite distressing when your child wants a different ice-cream only to be asked for 2 Euros for the pleasure !! Therefore, there is a question mark over the loose term "All inclusive" at this complex which I will come back to later.
The complex location was about a 15 minutes walk into Playa Blanca or a 2.70 Euro taxi ride each way. If the weather is hot, I would advise you to take a taxi.
Also, there is a new development of apartments being built behind the complex which can be very noisy during the day especially if you are staying in the blocks in front of reception. The development is in it's early stages but First Choice failed to inform us of this happening.
Hotel staff were 99.9% very friendly and helpful, although we did have an incident at the "Chicken Shack" restaurant when the pool bar was closed due to high winds. This resulted in a complaint being made by a number of "all inclusive" holidaymakers to the F/Choice Representatives, who had been blatantly ignored by 1 member of the bar-staff in favour of the "euro paying" self catering holidaymakers. He would ignore any persons wearing the "all Inclusive" wrist bands and serve those without, as there would be a better chance of tips.
Entertainment during the day involved lunch-time quizzes by the pool, games in and around the pool as well as excellent "kids clubs" which were available every day. They had clubs for all ages of children from 15 months to 15 years old. The Kids Club for
3-8 years is highly recommended and they are all free. All the entertainment staff are British.
The evening entertainment in the "Dome" involved a "mini Disco" from 8-9pm followed by a short quiz, bingo and a show. This was mainly performed by the Entertainment staff who tried their best with the terrible acoustics they had to contend with. Apparently, the owners of the Hotel, Sun Group, paid £50,000 to improve the acoustics so it must have been really bad before. There were 2 visiting shows during our stay which were average fayre. Biggest problem we encountered at the Dome was the length of time it took to get served for a drink at the bar and it took over 20 minutes one evening and I was queueing out of the door at one point. This improved towards the end of the week when people started complaining to the Reps who then pressurised the Hotel management into laying on more staff.
All in all, the complex I would judge to be 3 Star and not 4 Star as in the brochure. It is very clean and good for families however a distinct lack of parasols around the pools did cause a big problem especially if you had small shade as there is very little natural shade around.
The mixture of self catering and all inclusive does not work at this complex and it needs to be one or the other. The supermarket on site was just adequate but did not sell daiy British papers which was surprising considering it was a exclusively British resort and would be a money spinner.
My personal opinion is to be very wary that First Choice do not actually "own" the Hotel and therefore the "Sun Group" Spanish management pulls all the strings and I felt that the First Choice Reps. were for ever fighting against the management.
All in all, it was an enjoyable holiday let down by small issues which should not be there in the first place. First Choice need to decide what they want to do and where this complex fits in. As I have mentioned, it can be only "all inclusive" or self catering and not both together.
Food needs to improve in all the restaurants and more parasols and sun-beds need to be made available to discourage the "German" towel mentality which is prevalent at the resort. It is survival of the fittest in the mornings.
Baby changing facilities need to improve as my wife found only one in the whole complex but none were available in the "Dome". My wife had to take the baby back to the room one evening during the entertainment which took 20 minutes on one night there and back to change a nappy !!
This complex has the potential to be an excellent family orientated 4 Star resort but First Choice needs to get their internal issues with the "Sun Group" in order first. There were too many complaints being made for my liking with the Representatives for a resort which is advertised as 4 Star. If First Choice force the changes,it has great potential.

| said: Travelled last week in June first week in July. Had a fantastic holiday at ST. Would echo all the good reviews about this complex. A couple of thinks need tweeking though to keep this place a good 4 star. The food in the buffet restaurant is sometimes poor. Breakfast is usually good though. The Tex Mex and Pizza place are ok for a change of scenery but these need to improve too.
The complex is now full to capacity for the first time since it opened, and during the second week people resorted to reserving sunbeds then not occupying them till the afternoon. But that said there are usually enough to go round.
The 4 blocks that have pools outside the apartments are brilliant, the kids love it, but be careful as these pools and the main pool are all 5 foot deep.
The large pool is an amazing size, about 45 metres by 35 metres at its longest and widest in a sort of mushroom shape. A six inch shelf in the pool drops suddenly to 5 foot, so get the non swimmers in arm-bands.
The entertainment team try hard, with activities during the day and mini-disco and shows at night.
The Five-a-side pitch has many good battles for all you budding roonies!! So get your trainers on!!
Would definately return here.
Mick.

| said: The complex, as everyone else has said is very, very clean and the staff are more than helpful and very firendly towards the children. We were in pineapple block which was ideal as it was right next to the food centre and village tavern. All apartments are in blocks with either a small swimming pool, play area or jacuzzi in the front. We requested a jacuzzi when we booked and although first choice said they couldn't guarantee, we did get one!! We found this a little more private than having a pool.
The whole complex is very quiet as most peole do go self catering and therefore do not stay in the complex at all times. The pool area would comfortably hold hunderds of people but there were never more than around 40 there on any day. This means no fighting for loungers!! The main pool only has one small area that is shallow which is a downside. The whole main pool is 1.5 metres deep. The other pools that are situated in other blocks are almost as deep. The shallow area in the main pool is about 5 metres square and is ankle deep. The main pool is also saltwater and freeeeeezing.
My daughter joined the swim kids group which i would highly recommend.
The food was exactly what was expected from a 4 star all inc. It was all cooked properly, with a good selection of meat, fish, pasta and salad dishes with a similar selection for children. Breakfast was eggs, bacon, sausage etc, together with cold meats, fruit, cerals and toast. A real plus about this restaurant was that all drinks are on tap next to the food. You do not have to wait for waiter service even in the evenings for any soft drinks, lager and wine.
The first choice staff do a good job with the activities and entertainment. Again, it is just what is expected from an english holiday company - kids disco, amateur caberet shows, bingo and daily and nightly quizzes. They also do daytime entertainment such as volleyball, football etc. They have a welcome meeting to explain where everything is but we arrived at 9pm and the welcome meeting was not until the next day and by that time we had worked everything out for ourselves!
This is the first all inclusive i have been to that is not in the middle of nowhere! it has an excellent location 10 minutes walk form the centre of playa blanca.

Plenty of room around the pool areas. didn't have to leave our room til 11am & still got sunbeds for everyone! The staff & entertainments team were very good. My son aged 9 loved the wavelength club. The day trip for the kids to Rancho Texas was worth paying for, all 4 kids 2 age 9 & 2 age 6 really enjoyed it. The food was always hot and they had nuggets, pizza, chips & pasta every night for the kids. Not a lot of choice for dessert though. The rooms were clean & even though all inc. enjoyed having the fridge & kettle! This hotel is one of the better one's I've stayed in. It is a 10-15 min walk to the centre but there seemed to be so much going on only ventured there twice out of a fortnight! Kids were happy playing in the many pools or going to kids club. The kids club also operated a few nights a week which was good it meant the adults could have some quality time at the evening as well. This is were the Irish bar came in useful to avoid the mini disco! Already booked to go back for a week in March 05.

| said: Complex very clean and tidy, accomodation quite spacious, balcony too. Check-in not particularly smooth when we arrived, as reception staff couldn't find our name on list, but still provided a room. The beach apparently became 500m further away which we were notified of 2 weeks before departure, apparently something to do with having to be measured from reception rather than the back gate. Wavelength club for 9-15yrs quite good, took them on trip and to beach, some entertainment good, but resident duo a bit monotonous, also acoustics in dome not too good on occasions, difficult to make out what was being said.
Hotel staff courteous, and reps on the whole good, although not kept informed when air traffic control problem in Britain and flights delayed. Also quite alot of building work going on in surrounding areas, although not affecting noise levels in certain parts of the complex. We were not notified of this in advance.

Place was good - loads of kids enjoying themselves, with lots of pools to choose from.
On-site restaurants were ok - my wife was sick one night after they got her order wrong and remade the correct one very quickly. The chicken was the best of the 3 but the big restaurant under reception was very good. Lots of people went all inclusive and could eat in any.
The entertainment at night was ok - most shows appeared very amateurist. Some were very good but the dome acoustics need improving.

| said: Long journey in a taxi from the airport and our 18mth was a nightmare as she is used to travelling in a car seat. They don't provide these, little did we know!
The complex is out of town and in the daytime when the bottom gate isn't open, the walk is not too bad. However when the gates shut at 8 every night you had to walk the long way round. And a lot of the road was unlit so you couldn't see where you were going!! We soon cottoned on to this and opted for taxis on the way home, they were cheap but drove fast!
Only 1 supermarket on the complex, none situated outside so they have a ready made market! The kitchenette leaves a lot to be desired, No space for food storage, only 1 small fridge. Apartment kept clean, however the walkways around to the apartments were extremley narrow.
The pizza/italian restaurant was quite good and so was the tapas place. Did not rate the chicken place at all and that was the only place open in the daytime.
After a couple of days we did our shopping in the town supermarket.
Creche was really good, Lisa the nanny was lovely however spaces are limited.
The first few days were quite overcast and there is little do (apart from strenuos activies)! We were going to hire a car from the hotel but fortunately the weather cheered up so we didn't bother.
To sum up, ok if got young children as pretty safe. If you want a bit of life at night and don't want to keep using taxis then don't bother, too far out of town.

| said: Stayed here for 1 week in February 04 and had a great time.
The complex has several smaller pools and a large main pool and we had no trouble finding sunbeds whatever time of the day we went out. However, all the pools were freezing.
The kids (8 & 6 at the time) made full use of the kids club which sometimes ran for 3 hours at a time. This meant we could go into town on our own knowing the kids were being looked after and occupied. Thanks to all the kiddies reps!
The reps were fantastic and extremely helpful. On our return home our flight was delayed over night due to high winds and we were taken to a luxury 5* hotel. The reps kept us informed throughout. 1 rep looked and sounded like Peter Kay only with ginger hair, very funny guy. Went to the rep show which we would recommend.
Found the location a bit remote, had to get taxis most nights to go into the town, although only 3-4 euros. When we did walk it, the kids would moan all the way there. Also apart from the on site supermarket, there were no other shops there.
Entertainment was alright but we went into Playa Blanca at night, sitting in a bar/restaurant overlooking the sea.
Would definitely go again as a great time was had by all.

The hotel restaurants were okay, we weren't that enamoured with the food, it could be better.
Entertainment in the evening for kids, families and adults was most enjoyable. Something to suit every taste.
I am looking to book up with this hotel again shortly, one of the best all round hotels I have visited for a long time and one of the cleanest and friendliest.

| said: The entertainment was a bit vague there was big gaps in between things and they has same stuff everynight, the location was a bit far out of Playa Blanca itself so the little one had lots of walking to do, at least 1 mile, The cleanliness was wonderful we had cleaners out every morning doing various blocks of the hotel, it was done at least 3-4 times a week. The staff were lovely and very helpful during the day the first choice reps were lovely and so were the night time entertainment and kids club rep too, it was a very lovely holiday for all the family and a superb settin beside the volcano!!

| said: When we got there we were amazed with the cleanliness around hotel.
Around hotel there is a football pitch and a tennis court but you could only use them for rep activites, but there was a free vollyball pitch.
The kids were in the kids clubs 6 hours a day while we had a choice of many pools.
