| said: Only for 3 or 4 late night visitors(cockroaches)and ill fitting curtains Puerto Plata was fine.
Staff at reception were very helpful and communication was not a problem.
They have 2 bars a pool bar no complaints here and an evening bar which close's about 2 ish visited it a few times they have a nice cocktail menu worth checking out, music is not loud so if your staying above it there's no thump thump thump coming up from it.
Also there is a well stocked supermarket on site but watch the prices I heard a woman at the till getting charged more for her item than what was marked on the shelf, when she questioned it it fell on deaf ears.
They also have a resturant on site with good selection and tasty food worth giving it a try some night.
Alot of steps so if your a bit dodgy on the feet you'll have fun!!!

| said: When we arrived everything seemed ok. The staff we met on the first night were fine and we had no problem with te ordering our taxi's or sorting out our safe.
Our only actual problem with the hotel was on our last day we left the room for a quick lunch at the pool bar. Great food and Great staff, but when we got back, both our front and back doors were open and our safe had been been open and my fiance's phone had been stolen.
I went to reception to report it and thats where the true side of the staff's ignorance and bad manors came through. we were told we left all the doors open and the safe and must have lost the phone too and were trying to make a false claim.

| said: Stayed in this hotel in October 2006 with a group of friends. Had stayed here before and am going back in October 2007.
Overall the hotel is an excellent choice for a chill out holiday. The Staff are very friendly especially the staff in the poolside bar. The late nite Karoake is brilliant.
The apartments themselves are very basic. Stayed in apartments near the gardens (we had no balcony) Security Guard patrolled outside every night very secure.
The apartments could do with a bit of brightening up
overall the accommodation is good. The Vista Grill the restaurant in the apartments one of the best in the Resort of Puerto Rico.
Would recommend these apartments for a short break to chill out

| said: We enjoyed this hotel - the location was perfect for us as we walked it back every night from the bottom centre, although climbing the stairs to get to pool level was a nightmare until about the 4th day we found the lift at block E which took us up to the poolside.
We only ate at the bottom pool bar - the food was excellent & prices were value for money. I recommend the Tuna mayo baguette for lunch & only costs 4 euros.
Cleaners kept room clean as came 5 days out of 7.
We were on 2nd floor of Block B & we did have some bother wih cockroaches in the bathroom only but we bought spray for 2 euros 50 cents & it was money well spend as we sprayed the whole room before we went out & when came back in - if we had any - they were dead so never saw any live ones.
The pool was nice & due to the weather it was also warm.
Spent 10 days there & would go back.

Bit high up in mountains so it was a steep walk if going home drunk but taxis were very cheap so it didn't really matter.

There is an excellent poolside bar and the restaurant is lovely but just take a walk down the hill and you will find every kind of eating place all which good there is a bottom gate which you can use to go down so it not very far and if you don't want to walk up taxis are very cheap
We cannot wait to go back as for cockroaches we did not have any and we were on the bottom which had a patio lovely gardens well kept and a great view

| said: I thought the apartments overall where very nice.
Our apartment was very spacious with a balcony, which was nice and private.
The rooms where very clean and well looked after by the maids, who came 5 out of the 7 days, they are very friendly.
Our room wasn't in a great location, we was on the top floor, and the last room along, which was fine to leave the hotel as we found a short cut, but to get to the pool was a bit of a trek as no lift goes to the top floor!!
Had breakfast every morning in the poolside bar, would recommend it (very nice!) The staff in there are really friendly and come and have a chat with you etc, really good atmosphere daytime/nightime!
The pool was nice, although a couple of days some builders where around the pool which wasn't too peaceful!!
The restaurant within the hotel is very nice, went there a couple of times and was really impressed with the food.
Spent 2 weeks there and really enjoyed it, would go back again.

| said: The Puerto Plata apartments were absolutely fantastic! The rooms are spacious and have everything you need in them.
We had two single beds but you can easily push them together to make a double, plus there's a sofa bed which we didn't use but was easily big enough for an adult or child. The balcony we had was massive and was a nice place to eat your breakfast in a morning. Some of the apartments had terraces which were even bigger but they tended to be less private then the balconies. The kitchen you get isn't much, you get a hob with two rings, a kettle, and a toaster. For us this was ok as we ate out every night but if your planning on cooking food in the apartment you might be a bit pushed.
At the P.P apartments there's a poolside bar and a restaurant called Vista Grille. I would highly recommend both of these for food and the prices are reasonable at both. Try the breakfasts at the poolside bar!
The maids came five days out of seven and you get clean towels about three times a week. The whole of the apartments were really clean all of the time and the maids are really friendly. We were lucky with our apartment as it was high up and we didn't get any cockroaches but the first two or three floors did seem to get a couple overall though it didn't seem too bad for them.
The pool is great and doesn't open until 9.30 so there's no getting up at 7 in the morning to rush and reserve sunbeds. Saying that though I'd only bother going down at 9.30 to reserve them if you want them in a certain place because even if you go down at dinnertime you'll still get one somewhere as there's an extra terrace below the pool so it's never full. That may be different in the summer holidays when it's busier though.
We were on the second to the top floor of the hotel and although there are lifts they don't go that far up. Different lifts go to different blocks so don't be fooled and just get in any as most people seemed to and ended up lost.
I would definitely go back to these apartments again!

Would not come back again been there twice already.
p.s.full of cockroches.

| said: Visited the Puerto Plata on the 2nd of December 04 and had a fab time. Travelled with another adult and a child aged 15 and found the staff helpful and most were friendly, only thing to mention is pool bar staff who can be a little over the top.
Maids came 5 days out of 7 and apartment was well equipped with what we needed, again only thing to mention there isn’t much space for clothes and the other adult who travelled with me didn’t unpack because of this.
Location half way up mountain, didn't walk to beach but taxis cheap enough.
Would recommend Mambo's bar top floor in Europa centre great nights there, well worth visiting.

| said: The hotel was splendid. Clean, well looked after and friendly.
We had a great view of the bay and the room was nice and well laid out (a little more clothes storage wouldn't go amiss).
The pool area is very small, so we walked down to the beach most days.
The hotel is halfway between the Commercial & Europa centres, so is handily placed for entertainment - as well as having 3 bars and a resturant (steak to die for) on site.
We will definitely revisit !

| said: Having just got back from the Puerto Plata last month iam now in the process of rebooking for next year! Myself and my boyfriend really enjoyed our holiday and thought the hotel catered exactly for our needs. It was clean, both rooms, the numerous restaurants on site and the pool area. The irish bar was a particular favourite of ours as they do the best bacon cheese burgers with onion rings!!!! (plus a huge screen tv for the footie). A small whinge about the room was that we had abit of a disappointing view, and one hell of a noisy fridge!. I would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone apart from the less mobile as you do have abit of a trek going down to either beach or main town.

| said: This place was a nightmare. We first turn up the coach driver kicked us off the coach and said see you in a week. We made our way to reception to discover it was closed.
When we finally got to the rooms it was absoulutly disgusting. Porn channels that children can easily access t.v's you have to pay to use, kettle and toaster that didnt work, 120 EUROS taken from the room. cleaner twice in a week. You cannot drink the water you have to buy drinking water. People in the town that dont stop bothering you trying to sell you stuff you dont want, The only good thing was the masquerade bar which is a gay bar but everyone in there was straight. the bar staff were really freindly.

| said: I went to this hotel in June and we really enjoyed it. All the staff are brilliant, very friendly. And the breakfast out of the Masquerade bar is absolutely gorgeous and you just have to taste the Puerto Plata Steak out of the restaurant. The pool is great, great size. The drag queen shown that is held in the Masquerade bar is brilliant, very funny. The only down side to these apartments was the cock roches they were every where. But I suppose that would be the same no matter where you stay due to climate. I liked it that much that I am returning again in August.

| said: Hotel was ok overall. Reception staff friendly. Its around a 15minute walk to the beach and not very suitable for people with pushchairs or in wheelchairs. Taxis are really cheap though and there is a stop outside.
Pool is great, scorching so remember your flip flops!
Rooms were small but liveable, self catering eqiupment is limited to two hobs and a fridge. Maid visited 4 times during our week's stay.
Due to "trouble" experienced, be careful who you trust! certain Ellington's bar men and any scottish men appearing to be trustworthy and perfect gentlemen may not be what they seem.
Would not return due to above reasons however aside from the bar the hotel was fine and Puerto Rico is great!!!!!!!

had nice pool and onsite restaurant and pub were good too.
only drawback was the amount of stairs to the apartments from the beach (about 250!!)however most apartments in Puerto Rico will have same problem. Taxis cheap though, only 2.5 euros.
would definately go back here!!

Pool area was very clean and you need to get up early to get a sun bed. The pool is shared with another complex.
