| said: You will find many mixed reviews on this hotel. We have just returned from 2 weeks all inclusive and found the hotel to be excellent. It is not rowdy as all inclusive drinking stops at 11pm. It is clean and gives you exactly what it says it is going to do - there are no hidden clauses. Compared to other all inclusive holidays we have been on, we found the food in the restaurant to be good - so much so that we actually ate there every night. Granted it was a bit repetitive by the end of 2 weeks but then dining out every night for 2 weeks become repetitive also. There is limited entertainment in the hotel which is not very good and this is one of the things that lets it down but you know this before you go. There is a shopping centre next door with a few shops and a large spar and 10 minute walk along the beach takes you into the centre of the town. There is not much for teenagers in or around this hotel / resort and it is more family orientated. If you are looking for a relaxing stay in clean and comfortable surroundings then you cant go wrong with this hotel.

The food was very repetetive, the Tucan bar was the best if you like pizza but it only opened when the main restaurent was closed. The rooms was cleaned every day and lovelly fresh towells. The entertainment was awfull theres better in the subway in Preston. The resort itself was ok the beach was lovelly and clean, the re isnt a lot to do for teenages and we was all fed up towards the end of the holiday wishing we was back in Preston how sad is that.Would we go back NO,and we would not reccomend the Elba Sara the Barcelo was outstanding last year and we wished we had bokeed for it instead of this one but could not get the dates. Time to do something about the food and entertainment Elba Sara.

| said: Great quality 4 Star Hotel, can't understand some previous poor reviews!
Rooms were excellent - clean and spacious all with great sea views. Most hotel staff were friendly and welcoming, especially reception staff.
Good position, close to excellent sandy beaches (better than in main resort) and shopping centre. Only a 10 min walk to main resort or free bus ride, but nothing much to see there anyway, other than usual tourist shops, bars, etc.
Heated Pool was a great help, otherwise most people wouldn't have lasted more than a few minutes in the pool!
Food was of good quality, choice was quite good, especially choice for breakfast.
Entertainment wasn't so great - mainly geared for families rather than adults, however kids enjoyed it. Miniclub was poor - was more like a drop-in centre where parents of younger kids (under 7) really needed to stay as no proper supervision. No childrens activities were arranged, other than what video did they want to watch today? Poor compared to UK tour operator-run clubs.
But kids were happier to play at pool and beach instead.
I would agree with the 4 Star rating - the rooms, food and pools were all of a good standard.
Top tip - leave the beach towels at home! For only a refundable deposit, you can obtain towels and exchange as many times as you need to.

Kids disco at 8 30pm was good for my daughter but for adults it was just dead.Couple of nights were ok, an abba tribute night was about as good as it got.Service at the bar was also awful, took ages to get served.Sounds like i had an awful holiday reading this but to be honest we did have a nice time, we just wanted a relaxing week in the sun and thats what we got.

| said: We enjoyed our stay at the Elba Sara but found several things that could be improved upon.
To start with the food was very repetitive and often cold especially the vegetables, of which there was hardly any variety.
The pool bar was extremely unimpressive and should have been an open design in such a warm climate and also situated at the other side of the pool. This bar was too large and obtrusive in the position it had been built. It was also quite dirty during the day with no-one clearing tables after use.
There were a lack of umbrellas around the pool making it very difficult to find shade in such a hot country. The pool was very impressive but far too cold.
For a new hotel the furniture in the downstairs entertainment area was rather grubby and the whole downstairs bar area lacked atmosphere - it was more like a children's play area than an adult entertainment area. When the entertainment was on the staff made no attempt to stop children from running around and playing games in front of the stage which was extremely off putting for everyone else trying to watch what entertainment there was. It would have been far better had there been an entertainment manager introducing the acts and taking complete charge of the area thereby avoiding the problems with the children and lack of atmosphere. Seating was far too distant from the stage and would have been made better had it been situated nearer.
The majority of staff were friendly and helpful and the entertainment staff around the pool worked hard in trying to involve everyone.
We felt with a little more work a very nice hotel could become an exceptional hotel.

The air conditioning was very poor and doesn't work after 11pm. The staff were great especially with the children. The food was of a good quality but was very repetitive, there should be another restuarant to dine in as the Tucan bar only serves snacks for 2 hours a day if you are all inclusive and is not open in the evening. The entertainment was very poor.

Lovely hotel, rooms large and like everywhere in the hotel very clean. Plenty of clean towels and hot water.
Food was buffet style and plenty of choice, all very nice, seperate choice of childrens food too.
All the staff very pleasant.
Air con was ok but not wonderful.
Pool area: needed more sunshades and the pool could have been just a bit warmer.
All in all, a very good weeks holiday and I would go back again.

| said: This was our first visit to the Elba Sara hotel.
The reception is airy and welcoming. Staff were friendly and curteous. As part of the all inclusive package we were issued with white wristbands, similar to hospital bands, which we had to wear for the full week. These were a little annoying and of course interfered with the suntan.
The hotel was clean and well maintained. Our room was good, 2 single beds and a sofa bed for our 7 year old. We had air conditioning but it wasn't very effective. We had no towels in our room on arrival or pillowcases, we did have to ask Reception twice for both these items. We hired a safe in our room and there was also a fridge.
The food was good, if a little repetitive. Breakfast had lots of choice: cereals, meats, cheese, cooked breakfast, yoghurts, fruits and even freshly cooked pancakes and omlettes. Lunch was buffet style or available in the Tucan diner. The diner was quieter and waiter/ress service. Evening meal was buffet style and again featured soup, salads, fresh pizza and pasta, freshly cooked fish and meats. There was not a lot of 'children's' food or clearly labelled vegetarian food.
Drinks were readily available.

| said: When we arrived at the hotel at the front entrance....we were pleased to see it is very clean and airy!!
The hotel entrance area has a water feature that you can hear far around, which makes it feel quite tranquil!
The overall cleanliness of the hotel was excellent. I am one of the most fussiest people around, and for my job I am a staff trainer and NVQ assessor, so I often pick up straight away on faults!
The location of the hotel is around 8 Min's in the car. We hired a car for the duration of our 7 days and I would recommend this to everyone as you should visit areas around the island, and excursions are often expensive!
The staff in general were very smart. All wearing matching uniforms, name badges and a nice welcoming smile to go with it!
All staff were polite, and often anticipated your needs when ever approaching food areas or the bar! All staff spoke clearly, saying "hola".
On arrival the reception staff spoke very good English. I would suggest that all people visiting the hotel speak slowly and clearly, as we need to remember these people are Spanish, not British - They are doing there best!
The Entertainment at the hotel took place both during the day and the evening. From what we saw the entertainment programme was on a two weekly rota, and often the visiting cabarets and in house shows alternated!
The staff were always friendly, and always smiling and making lots of noise for the kids to have fun! However, if you wanted to be left alone, there was no pressure!! There was clearly a happy medium - just how we like it!
The hotel rooms were bigger than we expected. The rooms were equipped with a colour TV, extra large double bed, mirrored wardrobes with huge amounts of space, full air conditioning, telephone, 3 arm chairs, full bathroom including 2 wash basins, shower and bath with glass screen, toilet and b-day.
The bathroom had spot lights and was finished in a black marble effect - very pleasing to the eye!
Rooms were cleaned daily when you went out to breakfast or for the day, and towels were fresh.
All chamber maids were very clean and friendly and spoke basic English, but enough to make us feel valued and respected as customers!
The hotel views are very good also....all room s across the hotel definitely have a sea view and you can also see the pool area. One of the better hotels for panoramic views I would say!
The hotel operates a key card system, and these key cards are used for the hotel rooms, hotel gates (on an evening) and also the gym area.
The surrounding area is up and coming. They are currently building a hotel with the same company near by (elba hotels), however in the whole time we did not hear any noise or smells etc!
The flight path goes directly over the hotel for both incoming and outgoing flights. These go over about every 15 - 20 Min's on and off. They are not particularly noisy, however you can see the name on the aeroplanes! haha.
In the hotel there are two bars and two restaurants.
One bar is in a sort of lobby area near the entrance, and the other is like a club based setting with comfortable chairs and a nice bar. There is a stage area for the kids and plenty of room - not bumping in to each other or sitting on each other lap!
The restaurants are very good. Both are equipped with efficient staff that quickly locate tables for your party size and seat you accordingly. They take drink orders and bring them to your table. They lay your table and give individual plates for all orders. On mornings for breakfast this is probably the busiest time of the day.
The staff are excellent, I could not fault how hard they worked and their professionalism. No bickering, or nastiness. Always a smile and doing jobs quickly and accurately!
Food was of very good standard. Hot food was hot and cold food was cold. The range of foods on offer was faultless. Every night we had something different for main meals. There was a commi chef cooking and preparing certain foods for order such as kebab skewers, and fresh omelets etc.
Again, all food was faultless and plentiful. You could also drink as much as you wished and they would ask when your glasses were empty if you wanted more! EXCELLENT!
Overall a particularly enjoyable holiday, bearing in mind there were four adults and two children aged 5 and 9. We were not bored at any point in the holiday and would recommend this hotel to different customer types also.
Hotels would be suited to this hotel and also older couples. I guarantee you would not be disappointed!
I am well travelled!

| said: We found the rooms excellent. They were spacious and well equipped although the cleaning was not that impressive. The maid always turned up at 3.00pm just when I wanted a snooze. The air conditioning is limited from about 10.00 am to just after midnight.
The restaurant was very good as were the staff, although a few more would be preffered. The food was cooked to a reasonable level and there was plenty of choice. If buying wine I would suggest buying a caraffe, 5 euros (blanc or tinto) rather than bottles starting at 12 euros.
The bars and entertainment were abysmal. It was next to impossible to be served and the staff here were at best indifferent.
It seems that since the hotel has gone All inclusive it is attracting holidaymakers from the "lower end of the market". The rowdiness and ignorance of some guests is unbeleivable.
The hotel does not enforce it's own rules. for instance it claims that there is a dress code for the restaurant - some of the guests appear not to own anything other than a pair of shorts and a dirty T shirt. Going by their odour they hadn't bathed for a week either.
The hotel is in a nice quiet position next door to the atlantic centre where there are a couple of bars and a restaurant because of this I would return to the Elba Sara. Some parts of the hotel are four star whilst other parts should not have a star at all.
Good News though, whilst we were there - there was a survey going on to address the hotels poor reputation. I hope things now start to improve.

| said: I know it was half-term but we didn't expect it to be that bad. We went in a party of 12, 6 of whom had been before and had recommended it to us.
They could only apologise all through the holiday. The staff were doing their best but there were not enough of them. 4 of the group went down with a tummy bug and the rest of us were disinclined to eat the salad after a dead fly was found on one person's plate.
I only ate what was cooked in front of me to be on the safe side.
The air-conditioning was atrocious. It only came on at 10 am and went off during the night!
The quality of the food was extremely poor but with the hotel going over to all-inclusive as well as half board then you can expect this.
We were expecting a 4* hotel and facilities but sadly this is no longer the case. The calibre of the clientele left alot to be desired which is to be expected on an all-inclusive deal. It should be one or the other but not both.
I did wonder where some of the clientele got the money from to afford this hotel. They certainly did not have the manners and the behaviour to match the cost.
I know that sounds snobby but you do expect certain standards. We will never return to this hotel.

Good quality food but a bit boring lacked change same buffet stlye menue both luchtime and dinner.
On the all inclusive package the drinks were localy produced, beer and spirits very weak, if you paid for branded drinks the differance was very noticeable.
Staff friendly and helpfull but bar very understaffed one way I suppose of limiting drink sales.
The entertainments manager worked his socks off from 10.00am till 11.00pm very professional.
The evening show by local entertainers was very poor.
The resort and hotel are situated right under the main flight path ok if you are an aircraft spotter!!

| said: Just back from two weeks at the Elba Sara hotel. We had a really nice quiet time which was what we went for.
The hotel is very nice good sea views rooms very good and clean and the maid service was excellent. We had a suite which was enormous and gave an extra room for our nine year old.
The air con wasn't very efficient but we found if you put paper in the key box then it would stay on all day which made it nice and cool when we came in. (we found this out from the maintenance man when we asked about it being cooler.Every time you take the key card out it switches off the air con and the fridge!!
Food is good plenty of choice but as someone else said don't expect "haute cuisine".
We found the staff helpful in most cases and very pleasant in the main. Obviously some were not so nice but very busy this time of the year anyway so not sure how I would handle that day in day out.
Entertainment was good if somewhat repetitive but with people coming and going all the time it had to be. Mr Elba Sara (as we called him) is really good and works very hard. The Platters were good as were the Supremes and the acrobats were very good too.
One thing they definitely need is more shade round the pool. It was very difficult to get beds with shade if you didn't join the throng putting towels out early. If you didn't then you roasted.
Pools were very good our little boy really enjoyed swimming every day.
We would go back but not for a fortnight due to the lack of things to do.

We had interconnecting rooms which also were spotless, maid service everday.
Food was good, didn’t find out till second week that we could order food from the menu in the poolside bar if you were all inclusive.
Our 9 and 6 year old had a great time and met lots of friends we didn’t see them all day. The entertainment guy is hilarious especially at water aerobics. Evenings were good but getting a drink was a nightmare, they are very slow.
The walk into town was about 10 mins and a pleasant stroll.
We met some great people which made our holiday more special, we would definitely recommend the Elba Sara.

Rooms big, lovely views, air con only 3-12pm (last year it was 24 hours). Got very hot during night and morning.
Food good in restaurant, appalling in pool bar (we never ate in there last year) food on buffet in there not cooked properly left uncovered attracting flies. They don't tell you that you can order from a menu for your lunch but that isn't cooked properly either. Expect a long wait at bar if your not Spanish.
All inclusive finishes at 11pm even if you have been queueing for your drink its tough you will have to pay. Bar staff unpleasant if you are all inclusive.
Pool area good but pool needs a good clean. Pool entertainment good, evening very boring if you have teenagers.
We went into town a lot nice walk along prom or get free bus from Atlantico centre next door. Won't be going back again standards seem to have slipped.

Hotel spotless and in lovely position on sea front. All rooms have sea views. All inclusive was a good deal. Hotel food caters for all - even for the most demanding appetite but don't expect "haute cuisine".
Location is about 10 mins walk to the town centre and 10 min taxi ride from airport which is very cheap. I thought the entertainment was good - the top entertainment chap is "Mr Motivator" style, very friendly and funny and a joy to watch in the Broadway Bar in the evening getting the parents/relatives to join in the dancing with the kids.
I will definitely be returning again.

When we arrived late at night the staff where very pleasant and helpful.
The room was big, spacious with an amazing sea and pool view for no extra cost!!
The food was excellent. It catered for every one for example chips, cooked dinners, currys and English breakfasts. Also including the foreign dishes.
I must admit the hotel is a bit of a walk to the town (15-20 mins) but it is a nice pleasant walk along the beach front. Also next door is a shopping centre which has a spar and chemist inside with a few bar and restaurants down stairs.
The entertainment during the day catered for all ages ans sexes welcoming all. The evening entertainment was brilliant for kids, however lacked a bit for teenagers.
Overall my family and i would love to come again to this hotel as we enjoyed every minute of the holiday!!! Can't wait to return.

This hotel is definately on my list to stay again. Entertainment was pretty good especially Diana Ross and the Supremes. Staff in the resteraunt could have been more pleasant but I suppose standing cooking eggs made to order each day might make anyone a little depressed. In general this hotel is definately worth it's 4* rating. If you are considering travelling here go for all Inclusive especially if you have kids. Also you can hire towels for 10 Euros and they can be changed 3 times per week with a full refund at the end of your stay.

| said: Loved my week at the Elba Sara! Ten minutes from the airport (so don't pay for transfers, the taxi is only 10 euros) and on the flight path but the aircraft don't bother you after a day or so. Everywhere was very clean and the only insect I saw all week was a moth on the balcony. The maids were cheery and thorough, even re-making my bed one day when I'd done it myself and doing a pretty pattern with the bedspread!
The food was good, a fabulous choice of salads and meat and always something being cooked to order if you didn't want what was on the hotplates. The rice pudding was gorgeous - real comfort food, I felt just like a kid eating it! The chocolate mousse was lovely too and a dish of what I think was custard but came out almost blancmange-like, very yummy! I didn't eat in the pool bar but everyone I spoke to enjoyed their meal there and the half boarders said the prices were reasonable. The slush puppy machines that AI guests can help themselves to is a brilliant idea for those with little ones - no waiting, just hydrating!
The location was a bit out of the way, I did go for a walk into Caleta one day but gave up when it seemed like I was going to walk into a building site full of workmen! The shopping centre next door to the hotel has some lovely boutiques and shops, if expensive! I bought seven bog-standard lollipops to take home for the kids and it came to 21 euros! The supermarket was handy and cheap tho a smile from the staff would have gone a long way, especially for those of us that attempt to speak spanish! The beach immediately outside the hotel is very stony but I managed to find a clear enough space to do my karate then sit for an hour on one of the big rocks enjoying the peace. Slightly further along by the shopping center is a pure sand beach with sunbeds and man-made coves that was very pretty.
The hotel staff were a bit hit and miss, some were very friendly and others not so but to be honest they worked very long hours and they really could do with half the amount of staff again. There are spanish, german, italian and english guests (and someone from the czech republic the week I was there) so not all the staff have good english but I always managed to be understood even if it took a while sometimes.
Daytime there was always something going on, water aerobics, football, beach volleyball etc., but no pressure to join in. I always managed to get a bed round the pool without putting a towel down. The mix of guests made the evening entertainment a bit like Eurovision, with Etalian (the aerobics by the pool guy!) repeating everything in four languages. The acts were the usual mix of quality but all the kids seemed to love the mini-disco doing songs and dances in spanish and english and then the parents join in for the last couple. The bars close at 11 when the entertainment finishes and, although there's music for a while, it's obvious they want you all to go to bed at that point!
I'd definitely go back here, as a lone female I felt very safe and there was a nice mix of families with toddlers and couples/older groups of friends. Definitely not an 18-30 place!

| said: We have just come home after spending 2 weeks at the elba sara. It is a generally good hotel with a couple of small niggles.
food - was superb everything very well cooked and a great choice at all meals. Breakfast -the usual bacon, sausages, tomatoes, eggs (scrambled, hard boiled, fried or omelette),mushrooms etc then a choice of 5 different cereals, cold meats, cheese, fruit, yoghurts and toast, bread rolls, croisants. Lunch and Dinner there was ususally a choice of 5 meat dishes, pizza, paella, 4/5 types of vegetables, chips and salad dishes and cold meats and cheese. There is also a grill where the chef will cook meat "to order" e.g steak, fish fillets, sausages or burgers - whatever is in the meat selection for that day ususally about 3 choices of meat to have cooked for you. Then there is the pool bar for luch (13.00-17.00) which is the usual chips, chicken nuggets, burgers and pizza again all very nice.
We were AI and there were a few things included which we have not had at other 4* hotels e.g the crisps at the pool bar they are included (we did'nt know until someone told us) You can have proper malibu, pernod, martini as AI rather than "local" versions of these drinks. The other thing we liked was the slush puppy type machines at the pool bar and lobby bar that you (or your kids) just help yourself to - very refreshing!
The pools and grounds are lovely although we could'nt help feeling that the lake/river feature was abit of wasted space another pool could easily have been put in there! but the pools they have got are fine there is plenty of sunbeds and parasols to go round but you may need to get your towels down earlier rather than later if there is a particular spot you want.
Don't bother giving bread to the fish in the pool by the waterfall they just swim away! go to the beach across the road and find the small "estuary" and feed the ones in there it turns into a feeding frenzy!
Rooms - good size most rooms seem to have sea view although the higher up you are the better the view (ask for floors 5&6) the balconys are child friendly with a solid wall at the bottom and a big perspex panel as the top half so kids can see out without sticking their heads out of railings or climbing on chairs!! You do have a fridge in your room which is free of charge, however the maids have a habit of taking the card out of the electric slot when they have cleaned your room thus turning the fridge off - we had to leave a note (in my broken spanish) to ask them not to as we had baby milk in there.
staff - most of the reception staff are not particulary helpful except for one chap (called erich i think) he is very polite and helpful and speaks excellent english but the rest of them are abit surly. The bar staff - mostly fine - ok sometimes you had to wait 5/10 mins to be served but there is usually only 1 of them behind the bar trying to serve everyone so just be patient! The restaurant staff some of the waitresses are fine others you ask for 2 cokes light and they bring 2 beers??! but a quick word with them usually sorts it out!
Entertainment - my daughter only used the kids club once as she was happy just to play in the pool she thought it was ok but most of the kids using it are spanish/italian 8-10 year olds and as my daughter is 5 i think she felt abit left out. Can't comment on the evening entertainment as we were upstairs putting the kids to bed and then drinking malibu and cokes on our balcony! but watch out for the guy doing the "aqua aerobics" at midday in the main pool its more like salsa dancing crossed with aerobics in the pool and its funny to watch this guy doing the salsa moves at the edge of the pool while the people in the water tried to copy him!
Word of advice try to speak a little spanish to the staff even if it is just please and thankyou they will appreciate it!
so to sum this up an all round good hotel - we would go back don't let the few little niggles put you off we had a great time and would happily go back to this hotel and recommend it to others.

We ate in the hotel two out of our seven nights, to us the food lacked a lot of flavour, considering some of the great food you can get in the Canaries it was disappointing, but the holiday was a good deal, so it was not a problem eating out.
There was a good choice with the buffet and I`m sure it would suit a lot of people especially families.
We thought the hotel was imaculate with nearly all the staff very friendly. I`ts location was great with a good man made beach just in front of the Atlantico centre which is next door to the hotel, and a pleasent 20 min walk in to Caleta.

Would be a squeeze for 2 children over 6 years old to sleep on the sofa bed, it is about a queen size bed in width.
Pools were cold but the kids went in sometimes. You could get towels at the hotel desk 10 euros deposit each towel, the food was every good lots to of choice. Stayed in the hotel at night kids liked the disco, the acts were ok Bee Gees were good. You are next door to a shopping centre with shops, restaurants, ten pin bowling & games arcade.
The town is about a 15 min walk away. Staff friendly, do not take Scottish money they will not change it. All in all had a good time and would go back but in the summertime.

The hotel overall was very good!
The staff were very friendly and tried very hard with their English!
The food was excellent, so much to choose from and so much of it! I didn't know where to start. We were half board but soon realised we didn't need to bother with lunch. We had eaten a huge breakfast and had a big dinner to follow. There is a bar by the pool which serves snacks such as; burgers, chips, pizzas etc.
The pools are very clean but very cold! We spoke to our rep and he did everything he could, and within the next couple of days the heated pool turned warm....ish! When the sun is shining it gets heated anyway!
At dinner and breakfast the tables are laid but you will need to adjust it to suit your family by getting the right amount of place mats, knives and forks etc, but when the food is as nice as it is it doesn't really matter!

We went looking for a quiet relaxing break and that was exactly what we got. The weather was brilliant too and only rained for a couple of hours one afternoon, managed a great tan though.
The beach is great, and a nice breeze cools you down, much better than the very hot poolside. An excellent beach bar is available for a leisurely lunch or a visit to the Atlantico Centre could provide you with a variety of eating establishments, our recommendation would be the Revolution Bar.
Would definitely return, in fact if I didn't have to work to pay for holidays I would still be there now.

The hotel itself was just superb, spotless clean, friendly staff.
The food was excellent, a huge variety each evening.
The hotel entertainment passed for family entertainment although we would recommend the four tops tribute band they were fantastic... get to the bar early for a good view.
The pool area was really nice you didn't need worry about sun loungers the hotel was full while we were there and there was still plenty of loungers left at mid-day. The pool itself was salt water and very clean generally very relaxing.
The rooms were very spacious well decorated and the views were amazing (camcorders recommended for the sunset.)
The hotel was about a twenty minute walk to the centre of Calletta or 2 euros in a taxi. Not much going on there but nice for an evening stroll. One thing we can recommend... take a stroll out the back gate of the hotel and visit the beach at the bottom of the pathway bring some bread and feed the fish it's amazing the kids will love it.
We would highly recommend this hotel and look forward to visiting it again.

| said: Hi
just got back from the Elba Sara a few days ago, was there for 2 weeks and loved it.
The hotel is clean, the rooms are large and nicely decorated with balcony, shower, bath, hairdryer, tv showing sky news, bbc 24 and spanish channels.
There is also a mini fridge and a safe (for a small fee) . The pool area is beautifully landscaped and there are 3 pools. A freshwater baby pool, a shallow saltwater, pool which is slightly heated and a deeper freshwater pool. There is a small gym, sauna, hairdresser.
There is a kids mini club every day which my partners neice loved, Manuella and Yasmina are very friendly. They also arrange activities all day that adults and children can take part in such as, archery, table tennis, mini golf.
The weather was really hot but there is always a nice breeze. I have seen mixed things about the food, I would say it depends on the person. I personally found the food fine. There was a roast every night of some kind, a special every night such as mussels, pasta, prawns or pizza and then always some fish dish and meat dishes. I agree there was no veggy option and the kids food is limited, sometimes they had fish or chicken nuggets but mostly kids had to eat the same as adults. I never saw the Chinese option run out and there was a grill where they cooked sausages, chops etc, a salad bar, overcooked veg, rice, potatoes, soup, fruit, bread etc etc. I loved the puddings even the ice cream. There is one good chef in the morning and one not so good so sometimes the eggs and pancakes were better than others.
I do agree with the comments re drinks, they are expensive in the hotel. Its cheaper to get lunch(we were half board) in the shopping centre next door. Basically the hotel is well worth the money and the 4 stars, I would go again.
Dont pay for the transfer from the airport as it only cost about 9 Euros in a taxi but allow plenty of time to get from the hotel to the airport as our 'it will be 15 mins' took 50 mins as they are so busy on a Wed or Sat.
One more thing, dont take towels as you can hire them there for 10 euros each person, change them everyday and then at the end of the holiday as long as you have your receipt you get your money back. Bargain, as towels are so heavy.
I even used the laudry service whilst there, 6 euros for 5 items and they were returned in 2 days.
Enjoy !!

The food was wonderful, my husband is the fussiest eater I know and he thought the food was superb!
The hotel is right on the beach and a man made cove was fine for our 5 year old to play and swim in but not exactly a beach lovers choice.
It was a walk to town and will be a nice one when the promenade is finished but the taxi's were very cheap. The staff were all fantastic especially the kids club Manuela, who our son adored. The entertainment was a bit mixed, a few nights were excellent (four tops tribute) but others only really good as background music.
All in all it was a wonderful holiday and highly recommended.

| said: The Elba Sara is a terrific hotel on the outskirts of Caleta.
The rooms are spacious, comfortable and well equipped. Separate bathroom with shower, loo, wash basin and bidet. Rooms are cleaned thoroughly every day and towels changed on request.
Food is of a good standard with lots of choice for breakfast and dinner. Friendly staff cleared tables quickly and efficiently. Drinks are a little pricey, we reckon we spent around £35 on water alone based on 2 euros per bottle per person per evening meal.
There are three bars, one named the Lobby Bar where all the evening entertainment was presented, the larger Broadway Bar not being used except for the children’s mini disco. Perhaps when there are more guests (hotel was probably only half full) the Broadway Bar is the main focus for the evening entertainment. The final bar (Tucan) is outside next to the pools and is only open during the daytime giving you the option of a good lunch from a reasonably varied menu.
Three lovely pools, in fact probably the best I have come across, with a steaming hot Jacuzzi in the middle of the freshwater one.
Mini club for children is open twice a day, and there is also a well equipped gym,
tennis courts and beach volleyball court.
All in all, a great hotel, but…..
This may not be a problem to some people, but it is in quite an isolated position some 20/25 minutes walk along the promenade to Caleta. Part of the walk is across about 300 yards of scrubland, and most of the walk also takes you past a dusty and noisy building site. The walk to Caleta is ok in the daytime, but we did it one evening and it was not a very pleasant trip back in the dark at 10pm, especially with an 8 year old. There was no-one about and it was very dark across the scrubland. I guess we could have got a cheap taxi, and we probably would next time.
Another problem with the hotel is that there is nothing much to see or do in the evening if you didn’t fancy the in house entertainment. The Atlantico Centre next door is a fabulous shopping centre with a handful of bars, but for us it just wasn’t the place to go of an evening. The shops are generally clothin,g shoes and bags. It just did nothing for us of an evening when we’d prefer to wander in and out of gift and trinket shops, and stop for the occasional cerveza whilst watching the world go by. The centre of Caleta is more our scene, without being too busy (ala Magaluf, Benidorm etc).
Don’t let our comments at the end here put you off. The hotel is excellent, and maybe in a year or two as things develop in that area it will probably be much better, as far as we are concerned.
This July we are going to the Barcelo in the centre of Caleta – whilst the Elba Sara may just be a marginally better hotel, the position of the Barcelo makes it a more favourable choice for us.

The food was fantastic - spoilt for choice most days.
We found the location of the hotel pleasant, a two minute walk to small, uncrowded beach and small shopping centre with a few restaurants. Approx. twenty minute stroll along the sea front to the harbour and another good selection of bars and shops.
The staff at the hotel were friendly but their English could have been better, this was not a major problem.
The evening entertainment was very good although there was not entertainment every night - in the 7 days we were there we saw four very good shows.
We would return back to this hotel in the future as we had a fab time.

The food was good but the same menu every night.
Whilst the staff were helpful and worked very hard there was not enough of them. Tables, if they were cleared at all were cleared very slowly. There were often not enough place settings and clients had to lay their own tables. The Le Tucan restaurant by the pool was particularly bad at this.
Professional entertainment was provided four times a week in the Broadway Bar, but very little else.
The hotel was located about twenty minutes walk from the resort.

We found the hotel spotless at all times.
The staff very helpful.
The food was outstanding, huge amount of choice and good variation. My 3 year old son was even spoilt for choice.
There are 3 large swimming pools with lots of open space around for sun loungers, tables and parasols.
Entertainnment seemed somewhat limited-especially as 90% of the guests were families.
I was dissapointed with the location. Thomas Cook describes this hotel as beach front. This part of the beach is suitable only for walking on, and swimming is forbidden in the sea near the hotel.
There is some aircraft noise at this Hotel but nothing noticable.

When it came to meat and fish you were able to choose your own, say how many pieces you wanted and have it cooked freshly for you. Even cooked your pancakes and eggs as and when required at breakfast. Fresh orange and coffee at breakfast was yak! stick with the water.
The hotel is very impressive and absoloutly spotless. Bedrooms and bathrooms were fabulous and spacious, the specification of both was high. The beds are huge and extremely comfy. Daily maid provided, who always did an excellent job.
Pool areas great, no problem getting a sunbed. No need to bring beach towels as they are provided for you daily, just pay 10 euros deposit which is refunded to you, from reception at end of day.
The location was great, right next to shopping centre and a pleasant walk along beach front into the town. If you don't like walking then taxi into town costs less than 2 euros.
No problem with any of the staff and all English speaking. We only stayed to watch the entertainment on 2 evenings but what we saw was good. Not ripped off at the bar either, I was drinking Cava by the bottle which only cost 9 euros and was great.
Would not hesitate to stay at the Elba Sara again, hotel 5 * plus!! They even gave us a curtesy room for late check out with lots of fresh fluffy towels.

| said: We stayed at the Elba Sarah some time ago on two separate occasions. The second occasion was because we were too lazy to look around and the first because we didn't know any better. It is very clean and some of the staff were very helpful, but not all.
Food was abysmal. I mean really cheap and nasty. Lovely restaurant but with the food being absolutely diabolical it was a bit like Hamlet without the Prince. We went for the buffet on two occasions and only had the dessert. The pool bar does some food in the day but you get eaten alive by flies when you try to eat anything. There are a variety of restaurants next door in the shopping centre but none of them are much cop. The Chinese is almost permanently empty which speaks volumes. The beach area is ok but can be very smelly. In fact there is a sewerage vent tower between the Elba Sarah and the shopping Centre for the hotel sewer and the smell can be quite sickening. Apparently all the sewerage from Caleta De Fuste is pumped straight out into the sea about half a mile and the tide brings it back in straight away on the next tide.
Although the rooms in Elba Sarah have air con, The air con in our room did not work and because all the corridors are lit by windows and can be very long- they are very hot indeed. So if you are going to carry a bag from your car to your room try to find a way in that does not involve your walking perhaps 200 metres in 100 degree dead heat. Every time you go to and from your room you will need a shower.
The gym is NOT well equipped and whoever said it was is not used to much. Allied to that is the fact that some of the equipment is positively dangerous, Looks good but will kill you... if you know what I mean. There is no ventilation in the gym and it is almost always 100 degrees plus. If you do decide to work out you better bring a vapona or you will get eaten alive by flies.
If you rent a car you may find it difficult to park in front of the hotel. There is parking available at the side and round the back adjacent to the shopping centre but you run the risk of being broken into... another sad story I dont want to go into here.
If you are intent on staying there, we recommend you pay in cash and dont forget to haggle. They will ask you for 40 euros per night per room but you will get it for 28 midweek and 35 at weekends, locals get it for less. If you pay by credit card you will find that you are billed the full whack PER PERSON and not per room and they dont want to know about come - back ...believe me we tried.

Excellent Commercial centre next to hotel with lots of lovely shops incl a Spar selling everything required (incl cheaper fags and booze than airport/plane. Alot of construction going on but fasinating to watch them create new beach coves.
The hotel on the whole very clean only the pool side toilet let it down as not checked during the day.Fantastic swim pools - the kids loved the mushroom in small pool, loads of sunbeds - no reserving was allowed. Very secure, great beach v. safe for little ones.Reception staff really helpful recomended Dunes at Correljo (well worth a visit)and so is the zoo. Entertainment staff excellent really motivational esp the mini club brilliant for 5-10y.o.kids loved their evening disco and archery.Music loud by bar but were plenty of quieter areas. Evening great variety of entertainment though weighted towards the Italian clientale but Mary Poppins was brilliant in Italian and we sang the English version with the Italian one - fantastic night.
The food had alot of slating but we found the variety excellent with a huge range of hot food, salads, pasta, deserts. The Spanish dishes were excellent and the chefs were all friendly and helpful. Yes the place settings were a little limited but the waitors always brought exta settings when you were seated. House red extremely drinkable.
Enjoy, relax go with the flow - you're on holiday!

| said: The hotel overall was very an impressive site, clean and modern, but let down by the following:
The only time you got hot food was when it was actually cooked there in front of you. You had to queue to get meat and fish grilled especially for you. You were asked what you wanted and how many pieces. This wasn't a very good idea due to the amount of people in the hotel. They should have just put a whole lot on the grill, or even better cook them and put them on HOT plates.
As per other reports I have on this site, the tables were mainly only set for 2, but 4 if you were lucky. Every morning and evening we had to grab another set of crockery from another table. The waiters noticed us doing this everytime so you would have thought they would have changed this, but no.
At the El Tucan restaurant there was only ever one person serving at a time, and they could not speak much English. The same at reception-either only one on, or the person I managed to speak to didn't deal with what I wanted. Very under staffed
One lady had to come down to reception early one evening to say she had no towels or toilet paper, reception told her they would be about an hour, until she demanded to see the manager.
Entertainment team very good, always things going on. I never got tired of the Belissimo/Fantastico song, and once heard, I would be singing it all day.
Building work was going on but I didn't notice after a very short time. Having said all this, I would again.

| said: Having read some of the reviews on this hotel on the www before going we were a bit apprehensive about the quality of the food. As it turns out the food was pretty much OK, we had plenty of choice, so it looks as though some improvement has been taking place. While the cleanliness of the hotel, quality of the service and friendliness of the staff was excellent (5 stars!) it is a shame that there were so few of them. The hotel appears to be severely understaffed (coming into the busy season). Often there was only 1 receptionist on in the mornings, pool towels were often late arriving (we had the same towels for 3 days!). There appeared to be a shortage of crockery as the tables in the restaurant were always set for 2 or 3 people so we often had to make up the places ourselves (we were not the only ones either judging by the number of people wandering around looking for cups, forks etc!), both at breakfast and dinner. Considering the hotel was full of families with 4 or more people we found this rather bizarre. No room service either for food and you had to place an order for 6 items before they would bring drinks up to the room.
Above all however the noise (level of music) around the pool was far too loud. Aqua aerobics needed the music we were told, fine but there were only 2 people taking part for 30mins and they were 5m away from the speakers not 500m! The music was often on from 10.30am-12.45pm and from 4pm-6.30pm. Everyone around the pool was subjected to the noise, the idea of having activities is that you have the option to take part, unfortunately at Elba Sara you had no choice but to 'take part'! Saying that the level was turned down after about 5 days, (due to the number of complaints they were getting no doubt). Four times a day we were subjected to the 'bellisimmo fantastico song'...If I hear it once more I'll go nuts!! It is certainly more of a 'very young' family orientated hotel than 'older family', couples/R&R.
Location wise, lots of building work going on both outside and by the pool (though this looks near to completion). The hotel is on the flight path (15 mins from airport) so planes flying fairly low overhead, but not too many. 4 star rating? mmm not quite there yet. Would we return? The friendliness of the staff would certainly entice me back, but only if there are more of them and they turn the music down! (there is no 'maybe' button at the side of this review)

Bar staff v fiendly . Guinness cheaper here than in most bars !
The resteraunt served the best food we ate on Fuerteventura, but there is room for improvement. The veg was never hot. However they were trying - you could have 4 different pastas with 6 sauces cooked as you waited. One chef cooked the main meat dishes another the fish to your instructions. Similarly at breakfast one cooked the bacon the other the eggs to your liking. They even had English style sausage.

| said: I couldn't find any fault with the room - excellent size and facilities. Food was extremely nice but it could have been a bit more varied throughout the week. The restaurant staff were extremely pleasant and friendly. The hotel was just off the main town so you have to walk 20-30mins or so to the main resort but as we like walking we were ok with that. Excellent size pool with adequate amount of sunbeds. The hotel gardens were kept magnificently - the best hotel gardens I have seen for up to five star hotels. The grounds of the hotel were very secure. Night entertainment was quite weak but day entertainment was adequate. I would certainly reccommend it to friends and family.

| said: We staying at the Elba Sara when it was very new, yes there were a few teething problems with the Restaurant staffing (maybe they should have 2 sittings) but it was no big deal. The rooms especially were excellent and the bathrooms very smart. Pool area very spacious and attractive and we enjoyed our walks into Caleta along the promenade.
Overall we absolutely loved it and would go back tomorrow!!
