We walked in a month before to see what deal we could get for an end of season week and were given an upgrade in the process – when we arrived, we met people who had paid a lower price than us, so we kicked up a fuss and managed to get the same price (about £50 per night) – and a free taxi to the airport!
Rooms are clean, though a bit dark, two bottles of water delivered gratis every day and there’s a great swimming pool. The outdoor grill area of the restaurant was closed during our stay, so we had one evening meal from the restaurant inside. Nothing to write home about, my partner ordered prawns and scallops - the dish arrived without the scallops..we mentioned this to the waiter who said they didn't have any!! Answers on a postcard, it's not rocket science!!
If anything the pool area could do with a few more sunbeds. There was a group of about 30 grown Indian men from Chennai at the hotel for a few nights. They were like a troop of screaming monkeys – we’re sure if it was a group of English lads, they would have been thrown out. Still a few people here took great pleasure of playing up in the pool and mocking the Indian swimming style of more water being thrown out of the pool than being kept in through all the frantic kicking!
Probably wouldn’t stay here peak season as it would be overpriced for what it is.

There 3 types of rooms, the vast being of a normal 4/5 star standard (AC, Cable/Sat TV, DVD, Mini Bar, Free Wifi, Room service etc). Some rooms are built in the original old Portuguese Buildings surrounding a beautiful water feature. The main new buildings surround a lovely shaped swimming pool with a very safe fenced off area for infants. There is a swim up bar, sun beds and lots of towels provided.
The quality of the food is excellent, breakfast is a huge feast. What ever your appetite is, you won't be disappointed. A good range is provided for lunch (Indian, Goan, Chinese and European choices). These meals are taken in the "Cafe" which has an air con area and alfresco. The main evening Restaurant, provides dinning that exceeds the most of the Holiday Truth Goan Forum favorites. The bar is also alfresco.
The standards set compare easily with the Goan Taj Hotels, exceptional polite, helpful staff that are well presented which makes for a lovely relaxing base. The gardens are well looked after with lovely flowers and palms. Cleanliness is excellent. The hotel is not too big and really benefits from its location being near the beach or in the heart of Candolim.
Recommended if you like a bit of luxury.
