We went the week after official school half term and the entertainment team changed that day to one other thsn Thomsons.

In our opinion they could be more professional but they were funny and the kids loved the mini disco. We still had thompsons reps running the kids club which was fantastic.

It wasnt busy which was great for sunbeds etc but didnt do many daytime activities for adults other than football. Mini golf on site was overgrown and disused.

The place is really pretty great pool areas tho beware slippy tiles for young children. Staff all really friendly. Maid service not every day probably could have been a bit more frequent.

Was one of furthest hotels to main area took 15mins to walk, but taxis cheap.

Would not go here in busy season but would go again for sure.

We have just returned from a fabulous stay and are wishing we were back there! We were self catering and had no problems at all. I was concerned initially about the reports about the cleaning concerns raised on this site and I have to say that ideally I would of preferred the bed linen and towels changed more, but it didn't alter the fact that we had a wonderful time. The maids made the beds and cleaned everyday bar Thursday and Saturday and we had no problem with this.
The staff (especially the Thomson reps) were always helpful and polite. The entertainment at the hotel which we went to a couple of eveings was really good and the main thing for us was that the children enjoyed it,which they did.
The complex itself was really pleasant and clean. There was a choice of pools all of which were well maintained. The larger pools being saltwater and the childrens ones weren't,which my children enjoyed more. What I really loved was the fact no one put towels out at 7am!! You could just walk to the pool in the morning at your leisure and find a bed no problem.
Overall, I didn't have one complaint about these apartments or the complex and in the future would consider going back again.

Me, my mam, dad and sister stayed at this hotel for two weeks. The food was far too repetitive, but was nice enough for you to forget that. The entertainment was terrible at night, so many people left the hotel and went somwhere else. The staff were extremely friendly and made your stay at the hotel better. The activities during was the best of the holiday and were things such as football, basketball, darts and waterpolo. They were fantastic for teenagers and adults to get involved in, instead of staying around the pool. I would like to mention the daytime entertainer. She was called Kim and is from Holland, and is by far the best entertainer I have ever met. She has great enthusiasm, energy and she got on well with everyone. She called me speedy, and I got that name on the back of my Newcastle top when I got home. I hope that I meet her again, and whenever I go to Holland, I will look out for her. I just wish I kept in touch with her.

All in all. A great holiday.

Me and my boyfriend had a wicked 2 weeks holiday here! We were in room 109b. Abit of a mission to walk round the back but we found a shortcut so in the end it was ok!

Hotel was lovely. We had a 1 bedroom apartment. It was nice and clean. Only bad thing was that the tea towel we had in the room stank!! It wasnt changed for the whole 2 weeks we were there! Ew. The apartment itself was massive! The bedroom was nice and the beds were comfy. The bathroom was big. The shower was really good and powerful! The TV we had to pay for. Not really worth coz most of it is spanish or german!

The entertainers LJ & Kim were great! LJ is a nutter! Always on the go all day & all night!

We didnt really eat in the hotel. Only the Italian on site. Its nice but abit expensive! & You get harrassed by the owner to look at his drawings!!

The town itself was lovely! We spent most of our time in the rock cafe! Really nice meals & cheap too! The house band were excellent too! They make really good cocktails!

We went to Wikiki (i think thats how its spelt!) beach. It was nice..but the sunloungers are all together. The sea was nice & warm thou!

I was sad to leave. I am deffinatly goin back next year!

We stayed at these apartments for two weeks and had a fab holiday. We went out every evening so not sure about the entertainment. The rooms were large but very dirty. When we arrived we brought some cleaning products straight away as we had read reviews on this site regarding cleaning. Towels changed every 3 days, sheets changed once only because I complained for 3 days. Our friends sheets were never changed. Floor swept once never mopped. Opened cupboard to get a glass and it stunk of dirty fags so bleached cupboard and contents.

Pools great and very clean the same for the grounds. Kids hated salt pools so we always set up camp at the fresh water pools.

We went at the end of july and never had a problem getting a sunbed. bBware, the floor aroud the fresh pool is very slippery, I fell over my husband did and my son, oh and just about everyone else so get some crocs. Temp was very hot every day, we brought our own fan from town and took it home with us, this was cheaper than hiring one.

Hyperdino is the cheapest supermarket just ask any taxi driver, not walking distance.

Water park is a rip off. Any child under 1.3m has to wear armbands even if they can swim!! Had a very good argument with lifeguard about this very rude man.

Would go back if cleaning improved.
Did have a great time though.

We have just returned from our 2nd holiday at these apartments and there are good and bad points, most of which I reviewed on this site about 2 years ago.

The setting is ideal for a nice family holiday. It's a walk of approx 10 minutes to the town and nearest beach, although we spent all of our time within the complex around the pool. The main salt water pools are where the Thomson staff have their daily entertainment programme which usually consists of a quiz, water polo, aqua aerobics and various competitions for both adults and children, with prizes being given out in the evening at the Thomson Club Room. It's a Superfamily hotel so the entertainment is especially geared up for families both day and at night. We thought the quality of shows was excellent, both from the Thomson staff and the outside acts which were brought in from 10pm nightly.

As we were Half Board we ate breakfast and dinner in the main restaurant. I have to say that it's very basic, certainly not the best we've been to but perfectly adequate although quite samey from day to day.

The maid service has not improved since our last visit. The brochure states that the service is provided 5 times a week and bedding changed once BUT our apartment was only cleaned 3 times and all that seemed to involve was the bins being emptied. The floors were only swept once and they were very grubby! Also the apartments have no air conditioning which we knew in advance and brought fans from home but I believe you can hire them from reception.

All in all we had a very good week. My children had football coaching and swimming lessons within the complex (which we paid extra for) and they thoroughly enjoyed it all.

I would still recommend these apartments to anyone who enjoys a family holiday in a great setting and isn't expecting gourmet food every night.............

Me and my boyfriend visited this hotel at the beginning of January, we had been here about a year ago previously and had really enjoyed our stay and can definately say the same again.

The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are lovely bright and airy and clean. The pools although cold were clean but i do feel that there should be one heated pool.

We didnt actually eat on the complex so cant comment on the food onsite but the restaurants in town were lovely and there were many places to choose from, although it was about a 15 min walk into town, on the warm evenings it was an enjoyable walk but after a few drinks and if you like your high heels like me i recommend a cab back which is only 3 euros.

The entertainment on the complex was'nt fantastic for adults it was aimed more for children and after 9pm the entertainment was non existent but i think this had a lot to do with the time of year we went, it was out of season. So we tended to go into town and find a bar, waiki right on the beach we would definately recommend it is open until 5am they play wicked music and are very reasonable on drink prices, they also have pool/snooker tables.

We would definately come back to this hotel again and hopefully will be booking again soon to make it our 3rd time back!

We were half board but had to eat out as the hotel food was cold. It was hard to get a drink with the evening meal as there were not enough staff in restaurant.

We also ate at the on site restaurant would not recomend it. We did not get what we ordered it was cold and again poor staff service.

Entertainment very poor we were there for new years eve there was no atmosphere.

We had a lovely holiday but the hotel did not make our holiday.

Our family has just spent a week at the Oasis Papagayo. We have been self catering in the Canaries many times and this is our fourth trip to Corralejo so we know roughly what to expect from self catering apartments.

We had a two bedroomed apartment which unfortunately seemed to have ants everywhere you looked in the kitchen and bathroom and we were very pleased we had packed a couple of tupperware boxes to protect our food!

We were quite disappointed with the level of maid service, our bin was overlooked one day, the ants were not dealt with and floors not regularly cleaned. As with most self catering apartments the walls were very thin and we were unfortunate to have very noisy neighbours!!

Facilities on the whole were good but beware the jacuzzi opening signs can be misleading and we found that it was quite often on in the day and turned off just when the sign said it was due to open! Also just because the jacuzzi is bubbling away doesn't necessarily mean the water will be hot!!

There is a 10 pin bowling complex on site. It costs 5 euros per person per game including shoe hire and is an enjoyable way to spend some time.

We didn't eat in the on site restaurant as the reviews we had read on this website before we went away were not favourable! Also, the "entertainment" was pretty poor and we had seen much better entertainment at other complexes we had stayed in.

Finally, it took us about 15-20 mins to stroll into town which we didn't mind at all as we weren't in a hurry but this probably wouldn't suit some people.

Personally I wouldn't go back to the Oasis Papagayo as I have stayed in much cleaner accommodation before.

We stayed at this complex on our first visit to Fuerteventura. The complex on a whole was fine.

The reception staff and the bar staff were great and contrary to what as been said on earlier reports about the language barrier we found that if you engaged in a conversation with a little Spanish you tended to find that their English was very good indeed.

The English pub on site offered a great choice of sports to watch with reasonably priced drinks around 3 euros a pint, with a great bowling alley to keep the kids amused.

The food on site left a lot to be desired but with such a great choice on offer in the town you should venture out, however if you prefer English food turn right outside the reception and about a three minutes walk will fetch you to the cafe Correlejo. Good food great staff and very cheap about 60 euros for 4 adults 2 kids and that included a bottle of wine and assorted drinks.

The ground are kept very tidy and the kids just loved the choice of pools to go in plus the hot-spa.

The entertainment however for this time of year was very poor to non existent and most of the parks outside the complex had shut down for repairs.

The Thompson’s reps. While they are overworked they give a very poor service. They advised on products and trips which you later find out are not as they are sold and they do very little to rectify the matter except try to avoid you or give you a complaints form that gets filed in the appropriate place once you have left. Their knowledge of things to do or places to go is limited other than what they try to sell. All in all a great let down for people who are there to represent you and their company.

I have been coming to Corralejo for 9 years and seen many changes.

The complex is a pleasant 10 min walk to the town or 2 min in a taxi 2 euro. We found the complex fantastic we always eat out down in the town you will be spoilt for choice.

If you need a cheap supermarket on arrival book a taxi at reception and ask the driver for Rita 2 or the new spar on the harbour road you will save money as the on site shop is very expensive.

There are 2 near by cafes just right out of reception and a English bar the wining post cannot understand some of the petty complaints some people have with this complex.

p.s. full size ten pin bowling ally in complex back in April and July, Aug next year.

Bearing in mind we did some homework (like reading other reviews on this website and looking at town location maps, etc), and having been to Correlejo before, we thought this hotel was excellent.

It is a large complex so you would be well advised to pay attention to the directions you are given for your room but the room numbers are sigposted and you do get a good map.

The complex is a short distance from town but it is not an unpleasant walk and times mentioned in other reviews are accurate. Our two boys (3 and 6 years) enjoyed looking at the Waterpark and what looks like a "Seaworld" type attraction being built. This is on the way to town.

We had a room close to the smaller pools (which were fresh water) which was quiet and very pleasant. The grounds were clean and well maintained and there were plenty of sunbeds and shades.

Our boys really enjoyed the children's entertainment. It was mainly simple "follow-the-leader" songs and simple games but in my opinion it was just right after a long day on the beach. The later entertainment was again just harmless fun and you could wander in or out at your leisure. We went some days and not others as it suited.

We ate in the buffet just once. The food was OK but the selection on that day was not huge.

There is a new complex on the other side of the road to the hotel that includes a American style Diner, a shop and a Haunted House attraction - although this was very quiet as it had opened for the first time whilst we were there, I am sure it will draw some interest. Go to the Haunted House - I took my 6 year old in (they kindly organised a watered down version for him) and it was great though not for the faint hearted !

The town of Correlejo is just right with a good mix of tourist shops and restaurants and it is not too big. The town beach is perfect for children and we let ours play there in the evening very happily whilst we ate in one of the numerous and very good restaurants surrounding the beach.

Fair gripes - beds hard, sheets should be changed more regularly, floors should be swept or broom available in room so you can do it yourself - thats all we could mention - I would be happy to recommend this hotel to anyone especially if they have young children.

For the first time ever we returned to the same complex. This year one or two things were not quite as they had been but all in all the Oasis Papagayo represents excellent value for money. Yes one or two things could have been slightly better, for example the maid service which was just about OK with dozens of fresh towels changed almost daily but little or no change of linen.

The whole complex was absolutely spotless. I must say I didn't really notice any litter at all. All the guests (a pleasant mix of Brits, Dutch, Germans and Italians) seemed to put all their rubbish in the numerous bins.

The pool areas are vast and even though one of our weeks was half term the place did not seem to be too busy at all. There were always plenty of sun loungers available throughout the day and apart from a few Brits making fools of themselves nobody at all was out early "booking" sunbeds.

The hotel supermarket is very expensive but OK for bread rolls etc. For everything else then it's either a "netto" run (approx 1 KM down the hill) or get a load of stuff from Hyperdino in town and get a cheap taxi back!

Rooms do get very hot as there is no air conditioning. You can hire a fan for 24 euros (2 weeks) from reception but our friends actually bought a brand new one for 20 euros. (again netto I think) TV is expensive and not worth it.
Reps seemed OK if thats what you want and kids club certainly was well run and equipped.

If you want a cheap and cheerful meal for example as soon as you have arrived and don't fancy the walk down to town then pop downstairs to the burger bar. It's not like the British version with chips and rubbish everywhere. Instead it's absolutely spotless. Excellent portions. Half chicken and chips for example is 4 and half euros.

Although the complex is spacious, exceptionally clean and well kept I would avoid half board at all costs. We were given a day of half board free by the hotel when the water packed up for a day(something which the hotel sorted out and which Thomsons did absolutely nothing to assist)and we were thankful we had booked self catering. It wasn't really the hotels fault and I suppose there is a limit to how cosy and intimate a restaurant for hundreds of people can be but the choice did seem rather restricted and the slop bins were a bit of a put off.

The apartments themselves are very modern, clean and well equipped.

Yes the hotel is set away from the main town but the walk wasn't too bad and it is clear that in the years to come there is going to be a lot more nearer the hotel. (for example a strange precinct made up of an American diner, a haunted house, acrobats, tourist shop and games complex opened up opposite the hotel whilst we were there- albeit it was absolutely deserted whenever we ventured inside.)

The water park is also very cose by. (by the way don't be fooled by the price of 18 euros to enter this as you have to pay extra for the sunbeds and the rings which you need for just about most rides- a bit of a rip off)

Altogether an excellent holiday in an excellent complex. Yes one or two moans and groans but nothing to really get upset about.(albeit no doubt some people would)

Would thoroughly reccommend complex.

The hotel is about 10 minutes walk downhill to the start of shops, a further 10 minutes to the centre of town, and a further 10 minutes to Music Square and the harbour area, so about 30 minutes all the way. It really doesn't seem that far once you hit the shops and have something to look at rather than building works and roads. Taxis are no more than 3 euros each way, cheaper during the day and Mercedes taxis cheaper than others. Don't bother booking a taxi at reception, just stand outside and put your hand out when one passes, it will either come for you or radio another to do so. Same applies when you are walking up or down the hill, they will stop on request.

The hotel is set on in large grounds and gardens which staff do their best to keep clean, but the rubbish accumulates during the day - placed there by guests, that's you, me and others, so it can get a bit messy at times, but when you wake up in the morning, the complex is miraculously clean and tidy again. We had a couple of windy days/nights, and it got quite bad then not only with rubbish blowing around but also pool inflatables. Pool bar staff didn't check for empty cups/cartons before closing so if you hadn't returned them or put rubbish in bins it was left under sunbeds.

The staff start in the breakfast room, then onto poolside bars then into disco bar so they have a long day. On the plus side, you get to recognise them and they know what you want. They don't speak much English but will have a good go understanding you, even if it did end up like charades a couple of times trying to request sandwiches not toasted, no tomato or onion etc!

Reception staff were very helpful and always polite. They speak very good English. We requested clean towels after a heavy downpour during the night which came in under the patio door as we used the bath towels to mop it up with, and they were there within an hour or so. Also requested extra pillows when we arrived, and again they were with us almost immediately. This may just be lucky.

We seemed to get the bin emptied and clean towels regularly but not bedding. We got clean bedding for 2 beds not the third one day, just placed on bed and then the day before we were due to go home all 3 beds were changed and made for us. Never noticed if the floor had been swept, sorry.

We did bed & breakfast which after 2 weeks we were totally fed up with and having toast & cereal, which to be honest we could have had in our room. My 6 year old daughter lived on pancakes with chocolate sauce, cooked fresh for you so they were hot, or fried egg on toast - again cooked fresh to they weren't rubbery. In busy times, they were not cooked fresh, so if we went to breakfast after 8.45am it wasn't as nice. There is also only one toast machine, and when busy you could wait ages to use it.

We had an evening meal once, and were really disappointed and didn't feel there was choice or value for money. There are so many places to eat in town you are spoilt for choice. The pizza bar on site is excellent. The bar was closed so can't comment on that - apart from they probably lost a lot of business because we and others went back to apartment if didn't want to watch entertainment or go to town, if the bar had been opened we would have sat and had a drink.

Entertainment was pretty dire - some of the acts were so awful they were funny. The rep shows were pretty good and they all tried very hard. We felt no pressure to join in the activities, although we did do a few day time ones if we were around the pool at the time. There is a play area at the kids club, and this is in totally the wrong place. If it was outside the Club Bar it would have got used plenty, the kids just ran round outside the Club Bar and climbed on the walls.

Yes, we would probably visit this hotel again.

I will keep this short so I don't get you too put off. In all the hotel/apartments were not too bad, I have stayed in much worse.

The cleaner came 5 days a week and changed linen/towels every 3-4 days. We did hear of some who were having some problems but a small complaint did the trick.

The room was quite basic with a microwave and 2 ring electric hob, good size hot water tank (showered 4, not 2 like some do). Only real moan I had was that the beds are not too soft and due to the layout all you could hear were new arrivals and leavers every day at around 07:00 wheeling luggage.

Pools are quite clean (all 5 of them) but be aware the top pools are salt water and very cold. I would go down to the 2 pools at the bottom of the complex if I was you.

Bar staff were good with kids but not very good at English. Thye understood the basics but you needed to make sure they were giving you what you wanted. The hotel and the complex were very expensive including the supermarket and it was working out at over £8 for a pint and Malibu + coke and 2 kids drinks! The only thing that was good value for money was the Italian resturant, great food, service and well priced.

Thomson entertainment was crap and there was serious pressure for you to join in. Fine if thats what you wanted!

If you arrive at night get your bearings before you try to find your room. It's really dark and the maps are not really that great.

The facillities in our room were adequate. The maids came 3 times during our weeks stay to change towels etc. Our room and balcony were in need of a good sweep!!

The town was a fair way from us, you could walk but it was quite unpleasent in those tempratures. It was cheap and easy to get a cab.

Hotel staff were friendly. The reps were ok, kept the kids busy if that's what you want.

The supermarket and restaurants onsite were expensive.

All in all the accommodation was fair.

Well when we booked was really looking forward to this holiday. Ok a bit more laid back than usual the resort I mean ,we have been with Thomsons 4 times now including this one.

Next year will be booking with someone else, the resort of Oasis Papagyo was nice on first sight ,but when you really take a good look you notice a lot of faults, and as for the so called reps ,they were not interested at all especially in the kids, just did the bare minimum, and even that seemed an effort. Just because it was coming to the end of season, no excuse as far as I’m concerned, we went 26th Sept till 6th Oct, they were telling kids that they were doing certain things on stage at night ,kids all excited ,then they just get them up for 5 mins well when we booked was really lookin forward to this holiday ,ok a bit more laid back than usual the resort i mean ,we have been with thomsons 4 times now including this 1.

Cleaning rubbish, and as for the kettles ha-ha , if you have been here you will know what I mean,2 hangers in the wardrobe, could do with a long handled brush, rather than a useless little 1. Mmmmm check under the beds nice not, rooms get really dusty and kid’s feet end up black.

One day cleaner came in changed the 2 single beds but not the sofa bed and it was minging, not changed enough, reception staff useless. Waiters and bar staff lovely really friendly and good with kids too, better than holiday reps themselves. Don’t bother with the restaurant food took ages and when we got it was horrible, always empty. Don’t know what the full board food was like.

I agree with other comments having to sign in the night before, cant remember having to do this before; can maybe understand in the high season but not now. It was a nuisance we kept forgetting, as we where normally sorting out kid’s dinners and showering, kids club far too small for the size of the resort, and Kids Park near the shack was always empty. Such a waste should be moved somewhere else.

Believe it or not I don’t moan hahahaha but I wanted to let others know, will not be going back here, or with Thomsons again. Needs updating and changing, the whole Superfamily that is, hasn’t changed at all in 4 years, depending on what you are into I suppose we like to have a good laugh ,but this was just naff. etc ,and then off they go, kids upset.

Cleaning rubbish, and as for the kettles hahaha ,if you have been here you will know what i mean,2 hangers in the wardrobe, could do with a long handled brush, rather than a useless little 1.

Needs updating and changing, the whole Superfamily that is, hasn’t changed at all in 4 years, depending on what you are into.

I suppose we like to have a good laugh ,but this was just naff.

We arrived at the Oasis Papagayo at around 11pm due to delays at the airport. We was given a map of the hotel layout and found it quite confusing as for one it was pitch black and 2 the place is very big. We found our apartment after around 20 mins of looking.

When we got into the apartment the rooms where very clean and spacious. We had our towels changed nearly every day and our beds changed every 2 days or so. The town is about 15 minutes walk away from the hotel but a taxi only costs 2.50 euros.

The staff were ok didn't have any problems with them throughout our stay.

The entertainment in the hotel was very good for familys with young children. The reps entertained the kids and their parents all through the day and again at night. At around 10pm there was a show or some kind of entertainment for adults and kids.

Before we went on holiday I read a few reviews on this hotel and was quite worried but now im just wondering if these people that have had a bad experience were actually staying at the Oasis Papagayo because we didnt experience any of the problems they had.

We would definitely recommend it to couples and Familys.

The room 4a was clean and very handie. God help the other people whoes room was in the 200. On arrivel a map was given very hard to read and easy to get losts, we watched many people on a evening flightget lost.

It would have been very nice too have clean towels and sheets every day, but not so lookye but overall excellent.

The hotel restaurant food quite good but very slow, and only one lady waitressing on her own even when busy. The buffet restaurant, a lot of Itatians and they seemed to be very friendly the staff and got served first. Food rubbish, eat out.

Reception ran out of euros so don't rely on them
get all your money changed before you go. Everywhere closed on a Sunday.

Arrived to a very spacious and pleasant reception area but service behind the desk was very slow.

The apartment again was very spacious and very nicely decorated with modern furniture. We weren't very happy though with the double sofa bed for our two children to share. Although they are only 4 and 6, we would have preferred two singles. The rooms were cleaned reasonably adequately, but the floor and balcony could have done with a good sweep.

Despite negative reports of the swimming areas, we did not really find this a problem. The saltwater initially bothered my daughter but she soon got used to it. It was bonus to have 5 pools to choose from as none of them were ever overcrowded. There was, however, the usual morning towel dash. Although, there were often sunbeds still vacant mid morning scattered around the pool. There was alot of entertainment around the pool but you could sometime feel a bit 'rail-roaded' to join in!!

Only tried the hotel a la carte restaurant once and found this ok and priced about the same as others in the main resort.

The hotel evening entertainment was pretty much as expected for a Thomson Family hotel and the reps work extremely hard. It would be alot better, however, to have had some professional acts in to keep everyone interested.

The kids clubs were as good as ever, with all reps again working extremely hard. Our two girls loved going. The only problem was the signing in. Unless you were there promptly at signing in time you would certainly not get a place in the 'Team' club.

The only negative about this complex would be location to the main resort but, all in all, would recommend this hotel.

Very disappointed with this two week stay!

Hotel was very dirty, our room never got swept once in 2 weeks, the balcony was filthy, and we had to swill it ourselves, due to having a 3 year old with us who didn’t want to wear her shoes!

Cockroaches in the bathroom, maids couldn’t be bothered to make the beds properly, never even made my sons sofa bed. We asked for an upper floor but were given lower floor so it was red hot in the rooms and we could not leave any windows open at night. Complex is massive and off-putting, checking in was very slow, our room wasn’t even ready on arrival.

Food at the complex was awful. Reception kept running out of money so we had problems exchanging travellers’ cheques. Welcome meeting was awful, not enough drinks put out for guests.

Pool side areas very dirty, cigarette ends around the pools that had been there since we got there and were still there when we left, we could only find two ash trays around the pool we used. Dead bird around our pool for a whole day, no one came to remove it and kids were poking at it! Never once saw a Thomson rep at the two pools we went to, the freshwater pool was where the Italian company based themselves, so no Thomson staff bothered to go around there and the smaller of the saltwater pools had no sign of reps either! I complained to the reps and they said that if we wanted to join in with them, we would have to use the biggest saltwater pool which was too big for my kids, their attitude was that we should join them at the big pool, not them do their job and go around to all the pools 10 minutes before they started a game etc to ask if anyone would like to join in. I was told to join in with the Italian reps if that was where we chose to swim, doh! I don’t speak Italian!

Reps didn’t turn up at their desk when we needed them so I rang the Helpline, I was on my mobile for approx 3 minutes and it cost me over £10. I filled in a 2 page Customer Report form, when I said that the reps weren’t at their desk, I was told by a rep that the reps had all decided to have a night on the town, let their hair down and it was a well deserved rest, excuse me but we work all year round for our holiday! This is their job to be there every day; they never even put a notice up to say they wouldn’t be there!

Hotel staff very unfriendly.

Entertainment is rubbish, ends at 11pm! Most of the entertainment is by the Thomson reps themselves and what outside entertainment they do have is the worst I’ve ever seen in a hotel.

There was a constant bad smell, like sewers around the balcony area.

Had to book your kids into kids club the day before they went and they could only get in if there was enough places available, it didn’t mention that in the brochure when we paid full price for the holiday. I was told that the hotel was around 3 years old, goodness help them in 10 years time if this was the state of the place now!

I’ve lost confidence in Thomsons and don’t want to use them again!

We had great expectations after brilliant reviews on Thompson's own review pages.

I have to say, although the room was quite nice (1 bedroom apartment)except for the sofa bed for the kids which was broken and warped. MY 12 year old ended up with a bad back! The hotel was very odd.

The staff, especially pool bar staff and waiting staff did not seem to like us English much? It is the first holiday where I have not struck up some kind of rapport with a member of staff, be it a cleaner, waiter, bar man. They didn't want to know at all. In fact, the English pup inside the hotel (The Golden Goose) was a very dark dowdy and uninviting place and the member of staff (male with blonde hair) was so unfriendly, slamming things about and if you asked for a drink whilst he was eating his pizza at 6.30... you almost got splattered with it with the force he threw it back into the box due to the fact you had disturbed him (even though in fact the pub was open and you were a customer!)

The internet (four computers) only two worked while we were there for a week but the internet didn't, only games. Kids hogged the computers also for hours and I became so frustrated back and forth waiting for an opening.

Did not try the food in the buffet but one of the reps informed me the food wasn't up to much so they all ate out even though they their food was included!

Kids joined the clubs but didn't fancy going. The reps to be fair did seem friendly and worked very hard but the rowdiness of microphones blaring out around the pool all day and loud music was a bit overbearing! If you want a quiet relaxing holiday, this might not be for you!

The bar used on an evening for the reps entertaining etc was not very inciting. We went twice and stools were soooo uncomfortable and again, like the Golden Goose it was dark and uninviting. The bar was miles away from majority of seats. The entertainment unless you were watching your own child doing something, was pretty bad to say the least.(based on previous 4 star experiences that is)

The location was not bad really as we don't mind walking and taxis were cheap but beware.... you order a taxi at reception to find it is intercepted down the street by others (of a certain nationality!) before it gets to you so leaves you waiting hours! We had a couple of confrontations and witnessed one or two with this happening regularly. Not fun if you have kids and have waited half an hour in the heat.

Cleanliness of the room was very good actually except on arrival at night there was only 1 cotton sheet for the sofa bed for 2 kids so they became cold in the night. This was rectified after asking a Thompson's rep twice the following day.

This was our second year at Papagayo, and the levels of cleanliness have definately slipped since 2005. Like other reviews, we had to ask for clean towels 9 days into the holiday, the rooms were not cleaned enough for a 4* star rating. The kids pool area was only cleaned once while we there (opposed to everyday last year) and that was only because a few holidaymakers had complained about the uncollected beer glasses and very 'undesirable' items lying around! The pools and pool bar area also needed a good clean.

Reception staff friendly and helpful enough, but very slow. We waited an hour to check-in on our arrival because they were not sure if our rooms were ready for us!

Had to be down very early for sunbeds and parasols (the fixed kind - very limited and most people with young children needed one as sun is very strong), we asked reps for the Thompsons parasols that they had last year, but were told that the complex management were not allowing them this year.

Thompsons Reps were as good as ever with the kids, endless patience and energy! They work very hard to keep kids happy. Probably not enough for the size of the complex, had to be sharp about getting your kids name down for the following days kids clubs if you didn't want to miss out. Entertainment on an evening got a bit samey after a few nights, but you can't knock them for trying so hard!

All in all we did enjoy our holiday - we met some great people, only the cleanliness issue spoiled things a bit as we couldn't help comparing things to last year.

My 10 year old son and I stayed in Oasis Papagayo.

This had to be the best holiday we have had abroad.

The kid’s rep were brilliant. The soccer school was a great hit.

The entertainment could have been a bit better, but the place was spotless.

The main pool was salty but you did get use to it. There was always something going on at the main pool competitions and such with both adults and children.

The staff were always friendly and helpful. We have already booked for next year.

This complex is way out on the outskirts of town. Whatever other people have said it is a long walk. My children will swim and play sports all day but they hated the walk to town for the evening meal when they were tired. It was also too far to walk to the beach. A taxi to Flag/ Riu beach cost 5 euros each way.

The apts are a good size and fairly well equipped with a kettle, toaster, microwave and 2 ring hob. There were no scissors, which meant using the bread knife to open cartons etc.

Also only the sort of can opener that your grandma had, and the type of corkscrew that involves holding the bottle between your feet and pulling very hard.

According to the hotel leaflet there should be clean towels 3 times a week and clean sheets once a week. It took me 11 days and 3 complaints to get clean sheets. The towels were only changed 3 times in 2 weeks.

There are two separate pool areas. The main one where the reps are which has 2 huge salt-water pools and a toddler pool and another with a small freshwater pool, a bubble pool and a huge baby pool.

This baby pool was beautiful, very shallow with fountains to splash through. There is a shaded play park suitable for under fives here.

My boys like to spend the whole time in the pool and unfortunately they hated the salt water pools with a vengeance. This meant we could only use the small fresh water pool which was immensely crowded because many other children felt the same. The big salt water pools however were almost empty.

This was the first time I have used accommodation with “entertainment”. My children are now 8 and 10 and I thought they would enjoy more organised activities. They were disappointed to find that most of the daytime stuff such as water polo was for adults only. The only one for them was 5 a side football but the rep couldn’t be bothered to organize or referee, just yelled at 2 o3 trouble makers then turned her back and chatted to her friend.

The evening entertainment was no use either. Up until 10 pm it was very babyish, probably ok for under 5 s. After 10pm there were some reasonable family entertainment but that was far too late for my kids.

All in all I’d say this complex is best suited to those with toddlers.

We booked this hotel for our daughters 4th birthday in may 2006. Our exact travel dates were the 8th-16th may 2006.

Upon arrival check in was quick and easy only small thing to complain about was there arent many luggage trolleys and as the complex is quite spread out this could be annoying with luggage and children in tow!

Our accomadation was clean, basic and as we were at the back end of the main pool quite dark and dreary really! Although on the second day our foster child was in the bath standing having a shower when he grabbed onto the shower curtain the whole pole came crashing down on him and as he is 6 years old and skinny he was left bruised and shocked. We also had a damp patch on the ceiling in the bathroom and some rusty screws sticking out of the bedroom side cabinets which were dangerously the same height as our four year old daughters eyes.

Needless to say we were moved to a very nice bright apartment near the pool. Staff were helpful and apologetic.

The complex itself is fantastic, spread out and has a number of swimming pools. This complex also has a pub, supermarket, entertainment venue, kids club venue, playground, ice cream parlour, italian resturant[sort of!] and much more!

The thomson reps were brilliant with the children and the kids club was most welcome for those short periods so me and my hubby could relax a little. The entertainment at night was extremley repetative im afraid and after 2 nights we could not bear to sit and watch the same songs, dances, games as the night befor to the exact order!!!!!!!!!!!! We did go befor high season so maybe they do change it a bit then.

The town we loved and found many good resturants to eat it, the weather was good when we were there too. When we were there a lot of parents had major issues with the life guards as in they werent even looking at the pool area!

All in all not a 4 star but it did have good points too and for the money we paid we could have done worse.

We arrived at the hotel at 8pm, reception staff very helpful & friendly!

Our accommodation was a good 5 minutes walk away down, lovely green, palmed pathway. The room was of a good size, with all the basics needed... Good sized rooms throughout, & very tastefully decorated. We had to ask several times for the maid to change our linen as after 10 days, still hadn’t changed the linen! Suppose that’s down to the maid though & not hotel?

The pools where perfect! We had 2 small children & with a small splash pool with jets they loved it, + the swimming pool, we stayed near this area, as was very family friendly! There are 2 other pools 1 of which is fresh water, but really nice - to float in - once you get used to it...

The Thomson’s superfamily was absolutely fantastic for families, entertainment night & day - credit to the reps - children’s kids 'staff' they work 100% to look after & enterainm the kids. My only complaint about them, is the Oasis village - is almost like a 'village' therefore huge, & felt maybe not quite enough staff to look after all the children - if you didn’t get your child’s name listed for club for the following day - your child wouldn’t get a place - therefore please go early to book child’s place! - We lost out a couple of times!

We had a wonderful holiday here and did not want to come home.

We went on a self catering basis with the intention of eating out some nights and cooking meals on others. Unfortunately we found it very difficult to find a supermarket in the first week that sold meats and decent salad (found it in the second week but it is a long way away). Therefore we took advantage of a deal that the hotel had on which was for the buffet restaurant and that was to have half board and it worked out very good price. The first night was good food and a huge choice of salads and fruit the hot meal was not bad, but when we went in the next day the left overs from the night before were served up mixed in rice or potatoes and the food got progressively worse although breakfast was ok.

The main town is quite a walk away but it is a fairly nice walk and good for the tan during the day I understand that taxis were not that expensive but I did not use them.

The hotel staff were very polite and friendly and spoke a number of different languages.

The hotel is very clean and tidy, although we did have an issue that the sheets and towels were not cleaned when they should have been and the hotel was a bit slow. We spoke to the Thomson rep who got straight on to it and got them changed asap and even called twice to check it had been done and there were no other problems.

Thomson staff were fabulous can not fault any of them right from the kids reps ent team and the holiday reps. we felt like part of the family. My kids one of whom is normally quite shy really came out of himself around Mini Martin who spent a lot of time with him. Leanne, Kirsten and Chris you are all fab and are great entertainers and friends now.

We loved this holiday and would definitely go back again.

First time we've been to Corallejo so I did'nt know what to expect. Oasis Papagayo is a very nice holiday village with five pools. Nice if you want to keep the kids occupied all day.

Entertainment at night is rubbish. Golden Goose pub on the complex for adults is non-smoking but the club room which is the kids place is a smoking room. Very strange. No good for couples.

A word of warning though, Thompsons seem to be dumping everybody at this place so I'll never take allocation on arrival again.

This was a very nice complex, apartments spacious, grounds very pretty. Plenty of sunbeds to choose from although it was very slippery around the pools.

Food was absolutely appalling no choice chips chips and more chips and everything was cold people were reheating their food in the microwave provided in the restaurant (should not have to do this).

This is the worst food I have ever had at a hotel I would advise you to go self catering.

This hotel is a distance to the town, I was aware of this before I travelled from reading other reports, but there really is nothing in this end of town other than more apartments!

Hotel was very clean, but some of the staff were far from friendly, especially by the pool bar.

More entertainment should be provided for adults, as although this is a family complex, there is a large number of adult only groups here too!

The hotel would be better when more is built/finished in this end of town - on a brighter note the only real restaurant in this end of town - Tiffanys - is absolutely lovely, nice food, friendly staff, great decor, good prices!

If you go on any excursions, thoroughly recommend Oasis Park in La Lajita, but would avoid Lanzarote shopping - simply don't get long enough there (3hrs!)

We did not try the hotel food although the pizzas from the on site restaurant are delicious.Food from the onsite shop is very expensive especially if you buy the English food.
Netto is cheaper & only a 10 minute walk away.

The hotel staff were very friendly & helpful.

The Oasis Papagayo is a large complex with excellent facilities. The checking in was one of the better experiences that I have had over the years and the staff extremely friendly.

We had 2 apartments as the children were both over 12 (14 and 16) but as they were next to each other (as requested) this was not a problem.

We only tried the food once at lunchtime and it was OK.

The children went to the entertainment on 3 occasions in the week and seemed to enjoy. We adults went out into Corralejo which was a short taxi ride away (2.5 Euros) where the restaurants were generally very good.

The only slight down was the weather which was patchy (obviously nobody's fault and what do you expect in January)and the description in the brochure that stated the resort centre was 700 metres away. I would say at least double that but as I said previously the taxis were cheap.

The biggest compliment I can pay is that I would go back though probably when I could be sure that the weather was better.

I would also like to thank Thomson for the experience of a smooth check in and flight (both ways) which after a terrible experience with Excel Airways in the summer was much needed.

I would also like to recommend APH for parking if you are flying from Manchester. Although it is 7 minutes away they park your car for you and have it available for you to drive away on your return.

Our transfer took approximately one hour from the airport on arrival we entered the reception and it looked stunning.

Very well maintained brand new in fact spacious and beautiful. It was very clean no mess anywhere that we could see.

The location was awful in the middle of nowhere I would say I suppose that's why they built the complex so big. There are a couple of restaurants on site a pizza place we ate on the first night was good food but quite expensive I thought.

The staff dont really speak much and the rep stays in reception for you to go and see with any queries.

The entertainment is poor an hour for the kids each night eight till nine and believe me it gets boring when your stuck there each night.

The two staff did try but they needed to have more staff and more entertainment on.

Very quick and efficient check in. Yes the complex is large and it might take a few minutes to find your apartment but nothing too difficult at all. Throughout our stay reception staff were extremely polite and helpful.

Complex is spread over a large area with absolutely beautiful gardens which an army of gardeners constantly keep looking spectacular. The pool areas are extremely spacious and because of this the complex never really seems too busy. Our two weeks included the Oct half term yet there were always masses of sunbeds available throughout the day. Those very few that did creep down before 9.00 to place towels over the beds really did look rather silly. The pools themselves were all extremely clean and the whole complex including the pools themselves were kept spotless by dozens of cleaners.

Yes the largest of the pools is salt water but that really didn't bother us as there were loads of showers on the poolside to rinse under when you got out of the pool. The largest pool has a beautiful fountain in the centre which sparks into life at 10.00 each morning. The only problem were the annoying idiots who, despite the repeated polite requests for them not to do so, insisted on trying to sit on or plant their rubber inflatables over this fountain.

The apartments themselves are very clean and modern. There is no air conditioning and we found it very hot in Oct so I should imagine this is a serious drawback in the height of Summer. Basic utensils/ equipment is provided such as kettle, toaster and microwave as well as a fridge with tiny freezer compartment. The cleaning was OK but nothing special but in fairness we seemed to be provided with ample towells regularly.

I know it sounds rather petty but I did find it rather annoying and penny pinching to find that despite being 4 star you had to pay 6 euro's a day for the use of the TV. (slightly less if you have it all week)

The location is OK but is a little out of town. The walk to the shops restaurants is about 10-15 minutes down the main road but is not particularly pretty. In fairness though after a good meal at one of the many fine restaurants in town the walk home is quite refreshing albeit it is uphill.

Kids clubs at complex were very good and the facilities for kids excellent. The obligatory childrens disco in the evening was also very well run.

There was a pleasant mix of Nationalities at the complex including Dutch, Germans and Italians as well as British and everyone seemed to get on very well indeed.

In conclusion a spotlessly clean, beautiful and spacious complex with excellent facilities. Location won't suite all but not being too near the centre of things had a number of advantages at least for us.

Never said it before but probably will go back.

Please be sure to take notice when given directions to your apartment, as we had great difficulty finding it in the dark. The apartment numbers are up the stairs not on the side of the building.

We were delighted with our apartment, clean, very spacious, light and airy. We were on the lst floor and liked this better, as we were able to leave our windows open for a through breeze. There is no air conditioning or fan. You have to hire a fan if needed, however we managed very well with this.

The apartments are surrounded with beautiful gardens, even bananas growing on the trees, lovely flowering shrubs everywhere. Several beautiful swimming pools within the very large complex, plenty of free sunbeds.

I have already posted a review but the hotel ratings did not come out correctly. I have just submitted this part again. We were delighted with the hotel staff everywhere, particularly in the reception, also the entertainment was great, especially for the children.

In general a good complex which is well laid out and in good condition as it is fairly new.

Apartments are generous in size with basic but attractive decor and equipment.

Entertainment is obviously a matter of taste but the Thomson crowd were always up-beat & good with the kids, but be warned I believe that one of the evening shows featured a parrot on a bike ??????. We chose not to take up the kind invitation of complex evening entertainment.

Although the brochures make out facilities are close at hand you should note that the main area of shops & restaurants are a good 15-20 min. walk (downhill)via a well lit paved path, this could take a fair bit longer if you have toddlers in tow.

From what we saw you can't pre-book a taxi but have to wait in a queue at the front of the apartments until one turns up. We didn't have this trouble as we chose to hire a car for the week.

This turned out to be a good decision as the island is beautiful with very good, quiet roads and fantastic sights to be found that you can only be found by getting out there.

Overall very good holiday in a good complex on a beautiful island with great weather.

Stayed in 1 bedroom apartment on ground floor number 61b. Close to the road and the view was of a building site opposite where a lot of building work was taking place. The building/road did not disturb us though but a bit dusty when leaving clothes outside to dry. The work did not start till 8am and those with kids were up anyway but still not noisy.

Large apartment good bathroom and kitchen. We had a travel cot for our 1 year old which was fine and hired a high chair which was a quality Chicco one.

Towels and bedding changed regularly except for the cot which was strange but used spare bed sheet. Cleaning was ok nothing special.

Utensils were ok but no dust pan or brush if you smashed anything and could be dangerous with a small child.
Patio area ok but dusty and baby got filthy on the floor. Plants around the patio to give privacy were not fully grown and little one kept escaping so we could never take our eyes off him for one second!

Can be noisy on ground floor as the furniture is heavy metal and scraps on the tiled floor and the walls are very thin. If you have a little one get a first floor to avoid this plus patios are safer if you block the stairs off with a chair or suitcase.

Would imagine that the rooms could be very hot in the height of the season as no air con but ok at this time of year.

There are single storey units with a ground floor patio and roof sun terrace so its worth asking for.

The grounds of the hotel are lovely. Well maintained and mature looking.

The staff are always tending to them and the whole place is kept very clean and tidy looking at all times. There are lots of bins around that get emptied most days.

The complex seems secure as there are gates that allow the workers in and out but they are always locked after someone goes out of them so even if you are near them you have no problems with people using them to get in and out.

The grounds are watered with partially treated sanitation water as most places are but sometimes the smell can be over powering. I found I had to get up at 06.30 when the sprinklers came on and shut the windows as the smell was terrible. It did not last but I was worried about my little boy playing on the patio after as the water splashed on to it.

The pool areas were great. The larger ones were saltwater and we avoided these but they were wonderful not crowded at all. There were 4 pools in all. Two large salt ones near the main reception and two smaller fresh water pools near to the villas. The smaller ones were lovely with a great kids pool the best I have seen so far. It is about a foot deep in the centre and tiles can be slippy so you have to watch the little kids although that goes without saying.

The tiles are slippy around the pools as well but there are no steep sides and the areas are always clean and well presented with tables, chairs, sunbeds and showers.

No need to put your towel out as there are plenty of sunbeds at this time of year and are free.

The pool bar by the little pool was ok.

Friendly staff who appreciate a try at Spanish. I used a small phrase book and it was enough.

The food was a bit limited but you could take your own food anyway.

Good clean toilets there as well!!

The reception area was pleasant and large for when you arrive and leave.

The reps display was large and informative. Can't say about welcome meeting as rep didn't turn up? but there were always plenty of reps around and lots of kids reps although our little boy was too young to use any of the facilities which was shame for him but he made lots of friends by the pool.

The kids clubs seemed well attended and the reps seem to be working flat out all the time but were young and energetic enough to do it!

The play areas were for kids from 3 upwards although we used it with close supervision. it could do with some smaller kids play areas as well.

We used the main buffet restaurant once and it was 1 time too many. The food was worse than an old school canteen!! I do not recommend it at all. Eat out it is much better and is no more expensive. The waiters don't speak English in there and this was a problem the place was clean but had no atmosphere at all.

We didn't use the bar as the entertainment wasn't what we went for but it did seem popular with families with older kids. Not too much noise from this either but would imagine it could be heard if you were located near to the main reception area so be aware if you have little kids.

Don't use the supermarket next door unless you have to as it is very expensive. There are 2 Nettos on the main road that is directly down from the complex and you can shop after you eat out at night and get a taxi back for 2 euros.

Never had to wait for a taxi need to phone for one if you are going from the hotel into town.

The walk into town will take about 15 mins at a slow walk and is fine. Not very scenic as alot of building work going on but didn't feel the complex was too far out.

There are trolleys at the back door of reception for your bags when you get there.

This is great as the complex is big and with kids in the dark the rooms can be hard to find and quite a walk they are one refundable euro.

There is internet access for one euro for 10 mins but plenty of places do it on the main strip.

Overall good rooms, smart complex, clean, great pools, friendly people, nice atmosphere but terrible food.

Can't have it all.

Arrive at the hotel and was directed to the apartment, listen carefully to the directions!

Staff were always helpful and happy to phone to a taxi for the short ride (less than 3 euro's) to the town.

Supermarket next to hotel is very expensive so if you want to get a quantity of food then go to the hyperdino which as a very good choice and is alot cheaper.

Room cleaned 5 days a week although it was just a make the bed, empty bin and wipe the floor. If you make that much mess and can't be bothered to clean it up then you deserve to live in your own filth.

Gardens surrounding the complex were very well kept and made the place fee very well looked after.

A bit of a walk into town but (about 25 minutes to old town) but it is mainly downhill and the taxi's are less that 3 euro's each way, plenty of them about.

Didn't listen to any of the entertainment so can't comment

Found the reps very helpful and the welcome meeting was not your usual 2 hours of 'buy our trips'. A kids club is available but there was just the two of us. I would say geared more towards the family especially in the summer, whislt we were there not many kids about.

Would certainly go there again.

This year we were staying at the Fiesta Corralejo Gardens, which was so poor we left and sorted our own accomodation at our own expense.

The staff at the Papagayo were brilliant in providing us with a reasonably priced room, after the reps told us it was fully booked. The whole complex was immaculate with gardeners and cleaners on the go all the time. The pools are superb, the more boisterous kids tend to stick to the top one, so if you want to chill pick the lower pool. The apartment was spacious and well fitted out.

This is the second time I have been there and I will be going again. The 15 minute walk into town is no problem, with great views over Lobos Island & across to Lanzarote, or 2.85 Euro in a taxi.

The hotel was full when we were there and no one we spoke to had a bad word to say about it.

Brand new complex which is very impressive on arrival.

About 10 minutes walk to centre. complex consists of ten pin bowling alley plus fast food area attached. Very good Italian pizza restaurante, very expensive supermarket. Riu perfume shop, and a ice cream parlour. A lot of units set to open in the near future.

Large salt water swimming pools with a very friendly life guard.

Plenty of sunbeds so theres no need to get up early, and the usual day time activity, ie darts, football ,water polo, killer pool etc...etc...

The complex has a buffet restaurante but having eating their breakfast and evening meals would not recommend the half board basis as it tends to cater more for the italians. its must nicer to walk to town and have a meal in the many restaurants.

Kids entertainment is 8.30 to 9.30 so tended to get back about 9.45.

Pool bar was very slow if ordering meals, because they seemed to be very short staffed ,pint of lager was 3 euros.
the waterpark which is just next store is 18 euros for adults and 12 for kids, please note that as of august 05 it is only half complete.

Had a vey good holiday here and would recommend for younger kids as the entertainment team try very hard.

Apartments are excellent with plenty of room.

What lets the place down is the supermarket next door. with 1500 people staying at peak times and drinks being expensive in the hotel.

There are endless queue's at the tills or should I say till, as they only ever operate with one. Try Nettos supermarket in town which is a lot cheaper.
