When we arrived at cinco plaza you was greeted with friendly staff, they checked us in very quickly, gave us a map to show us were our rooms were, our room was just near the main pool on the ground floor, which was ideal not to far to walk to the bar.The rooms are very spacious and clean, they are ideal for a self catering holiday. The complex is very clean, there are three pools one belonging to each block, the restuarant is ok even though we ate out everynight we used it in the day for snacks, the entertainment is good they keep the kids entertained at night if you around the hotel. One good thing about this hotel is that the reps are there all the time which is very unusual these days. The maids are in your rooms 5days aweek and they do a good job.The hotel is up a hill just 5mins from the beach and there is a nettos right next to the hotel which is cheap.

Hi There. We have just arrived back from a 2 week holiday at the Cinco Plaza Apartments in Lanzarote.

There are 3 pools, we stayed in the apartments around the main pool (bar area). Although we were by the bar/restaurant, the entertainment stopped at midnight, so therefore we did not encounter a noise problem at all.

The apartment we had, was 1 bedroomed, with 2 single beds and in the living area, was a couch with a pull out bed underneath, (remember to pull the legs out, we didn't for the 1st couple of nights, and our youngest son thought it was great fun to wheel around the lounge whilst still in bed).

The apartment itself was spotless, the maid came 4 times a week and brought fresh towels with her.

The reception and other staff where very friendly, polite and spoke excellent English.

The downside to these apartments, are that it states they are up a small hill from the main promenade.

Believe me, they are not, there are two hills to climb, one steeper than the other. It also states that the beach is at the bottom of the slope. Yes the beach is there, if you want to lie on rocks, but you have to walk about 10 mins to the main beach where there are sundeds, parasols and pedal boats to hire. The sunbeds will cost you 8 euros for 2 beds and 1 brolly.

The only other problem is that at the hotel, there are no way near enough sunloungers to cater for holidaymakers. To get a sunlounger by any of the pools, you had to be down there before 8.30am, and even then you were lucky.

We have just returned from the cinco plaza and we loved it. We were so lucky as the few drop off from the airport the area looked a bit run down, but when we got to Puerto del Carmen we were more than happy.

Our 1 bed apt was clean and roomy, we pulled the small bed from the living area into our room because we didn't like our little boy sleeping in there on his own, and there was still lots of room and loads of hanging space for all these clothes you take and don't wear.

All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The pools (we stayed at the main pool) were clean and there's a little paddling pool too. Everyone was friendly and made some nice friends.

Our little boy loved the evening entertainment but you have to be a lover of black lace ( the pop group) to enjoy it but James the entertainer worked really hard to get everyone going.

The Thompson reps Julia and Kirsten were great and very helpful. If we do return to lanzarote we will be staying at the cinco plaza again.

I had stayed at these apartments before a few years ago and found them to be pleasant and family orientated. The apartments are built around 3 complexes and on this occasion we stayed in Plaza Sol, which is closest to the main building, restaurant area.
I found the apartment itself clean, modern and very well equipped. The staff were pleasant and helpful. I have no complaints about the complex itself at all.
The reason I would probably not return is because of the amount of what I can only call yobs who were staying there at the time. The holiday itself was pretty cheap- I thought due to it being so early in the year. In hindsight, I now feel that Cinco Plazas has been targetted by certain types of holiday makers- ie get drunk and row all night on a cheap package deal.
On occasion I felt uncomfortable staying here.
Possibly we were unlucky- it was early in the year, it was cheap and we were probably unlucky that we had absolute louts on either side of us. However, the atmosphere felt very different to the laid back, international feel of the last time I stayed here.
The apartments, the staff and the location cant really be faulted. All I say is - on my particular visit- shame about the clientele.

This is the best hotel that I have ever been in ! It was extremely clean and very friendly !! I must admit these where really modern apartments probably the most modern that I have seen!

The pool was freezing but I know you won't believe me -it was HEAVEN...

I met so many friends ! they were all really friendly we looked onto the pool so could see anybody going by and also there was computers that cost 1 euro for 10 minutes !! they have msn on them with a web cam so any teens wanting 2 keep in touch with friends they have it there !! The weather was amazing and we went back with the most amazing tan !!

We are going back here next year because we loved them that much !!

They have a little shop on site for any little necessities but a REALLY big Netto next door and was decently priced !!

Also the food on site was average but I chose to go out on the town to the proper restaurants !! They were spectacular!

Well I hope that enough info for now !!!!! put it this way you will not be wasting money.

My partner and I have just returned from a holiday in Lanzarote with my parents, where we stayed at the Cinco Plazas apartments.

We were given 2 apartments - each big enough to accommodate 6 people, which were spotless and well equipped. There were plenty of sunbeds available as there are 3 pools, so there was no need for us to get up really early to get a sunbed. The shops and beach are just a couple of minutes walk away, and we were spoilt for choice with restaurants and bars.

My only gripe is that on the last day the maids wanted to clean our room at 9 am and we were not due to leave our apartment until around 10. They were not easily persuaded to return later!

I would recommend these apartments to all ages due to the close proximity of the beach, shops, restaurants, etc., and am already considering returning early next year.

After a nightmare check-in as a result of Thompson not supplying the hotel with the rooming list, it meant one receptionist was having to deal with 200+ newly arrived, tired guests (they were early morning flights) whereas they were expecting 50! However, he dealt with it professionally, with a sense of humour and a big welcoming smile which helped to lessen the annoyance.

This was all forgotten however as soon as we entered our one-bedroom apartment. It was great! After a major refurbishment here, everything in the room, in the complex and at reception was brand new, clean and welcoming. The room even smelt of new furniture when we went in! Due to the newness of everything including furnishings, fittings and kitchen equipment, the standard was very high including cleanliness which was carried out by a very friendly maid! In fact, most of the staff, with the exception of a couple of waiters, were very friendly.

We didnt stay around the pool during the day even though it was clean and well kept (despite uncomfortable sunbeds!) and it was only a 5 minute walk down the hill to the main "strip" and a further 5 minutes to the main part of the beach, so locality was very central without being noisy. In fact, we slept well every night with no rowdy neighbours to disturb us either. Perfect!

We ate dinner once in the restaurant and it was acceptable despite children running everywhere but with so much choice outside the complex, especially the wonderful fish restaurants in the old town, it would be a shame to spend the whole holiday eating on-site. Obviously, with young children it might well be the best or only option.

We didnt really see any of the entertainment during the day or in the evening as there is so much to do in the resort but caught the tail-end of a karioke evening which was ok if you like that sort of thing!

Overall, we had a great relaxing week in a lovely complex with great weather and we will be coming back next year and definately recommending it! Lets hope they maintain the high standards and dont let it become shabby as so many studio/apartment complexes become after a while.

The building work was being done directly behind our apartment. It went on from 8am until between 6-7pm 7 days a week with no break. At times they were grinding tiles for what seemed like hours on end. The maid was excellant though.

The entertainment was poor at night, with the noise we did not stay around during the day to find out. It should be mentioned that we booked on line and were not notified by the tour company of the works being caarried out. They are now rectifying this problem on their Website, but for others if you see - For building works see file - on your invoice, contact the tour company. We are being compensated.

This is divided into 3 areas, only the 1st area was complete when we arrived. The second area opened 3 days into the holiday and was superb. The 3rd area was still under construction and work would start at 8am every day. This will be a very good complex when all the work is complete. The bar closed every night at 11pm so sleeping was never a problem (until 8am when the work starts).

We stayed at the apartments in late September and were thoroughly pleased with all aspects.

The rooms were clean and large with a nice balcony overlooking the pool and restaurant.we were pleased to be able to rent an ironing board and iron from reception for the duration of our 2 week stay.

The staff were polite and helpful. The location is good but the hill or "hill of horror"as we called it was the only bad thing along with the food in the bar.however there is a little restaurant just down the hill that was excellent and we would recommend it totally ate there on many occasions cant remember the name but the food was the best we tasted for the whole of our stay and we had everything from paella to pizza there!

There was also a lauderette which was just round the side of the pool which was good. The little supermarket was handy too but the bigger one next door was much more substantial.

We like these apartments so much we are returning in September 2006!

We travelled to Lanzarote on our first family holiday, Olivia only being 10 months old. We found apartments lovely and clean and all lightbulbs working.

The hotel food was ok, only had breakfast once there, but was your typical English breakfast cooked by a Spanish chef!!!

Didn't see the entertainment on an evening as to eager to enjoy the cocktails in The Red Indian Chief bar.

We loved this holiday so much we've booked to go back for 2 weeks this September.

This was our first visit to Cyprus.
I am an 11 year old girl and I stayed at these apartments in August 2004 .I found them brilliant. I went to the kids club and received a free hat and t-shirt. Funky Fi and Disco Debbie are really funny.

I didn't see one cockroach at all that’s good because I hate them. The pool was nice and cold - to cool you off. It was a nice pool and I met lots of friends. I thoroughly enjoyed it. There was a bit of a hill but if you go the other way then it’s a shortcut up so the hill isn't so steep.

They had computers in the reception so you could surf the net it was 1euro for 10mins.I recommend these apartment to anyone. I didn't go to the entertainment because it was mainly more for the younger children. I didn't try the food because we used to go out and about to the town which ha d lots to offer. Would tell any body to go there.

i Booking
Unfortunately, following high expectations, our stay at Cinco Plazas wasn't enjoyable. We booked our holiday 14 months in advance, having experienced an enjoyable stay in Costa Teguise three years previous. On booking we were assured that Cinco Plazas was a wonderful place to stay, was quiet and ideal for families. We opted for a two bedroom apartment.

i The journey
On beginning our journey we should have realised that our holiday was to become a nightmare. Early into our journey to Manchester Airport, a rabbit ran straight towards the headlights of our car - the rabbit had no chance... this upset the children.

i No in-flight food
Then when the Britannia flight was underway, we were informed by the cabin crew that our in-flight meal hadn't been booked - yet it was stated on our tickets that it had. After a little gentle persuasion we obtained the meals that we were entitled to.

i Alarm bells
The transfer to Cinco Plazas took around 15 minutes. On arrival at Cinco Plazas we were allocated our accommodation. Alarm bells should have begun to ring as soon as the key for A13 (unlucky for some) was handed over. Cinco Plazas comprises of three Plazas: Plaza Amarillo, Plaza del Sol and Plaza Montana - we were staying in Plaza Amarillo.

i Apartment faults
On entering the apartment we found many lights didn't work, some bulbs were even missing from their housings. A couple of electric sockets were broken - a hazard for children. Mould was present around the bath/shower. The toilet seat was broken. Wicker seating was damaged. Window pane (sharp) edges were exposed. Tiles around the bathroom sink were cracked and some were missing. The floor was stained from previous guests at the apartment.

i The pool
The pool area was dangerous for children, depths were marked but a fancy surround at the pools edge created an overhang which made it almost impossible to exit the pool in an emergency. Tiling around the pool also left a lot to desire. Some were cracked and many had grout missing. Because of the cracked tiles, my children sustained cuts to their feet - it was felt necessary to ban them from the pool area because of this.

i Rowdy revellers
When night-time arrived, our problems continued with noisy neighbours. To the right (A12) were a noisy English family - generally following a night of heavy drinking. At around 3am, they would arrive home shouting and diving into the pool to everyone's annoyance. A quick trip to the Thomson Rep. quietened them down a little. To the left (A14) a Spanish family lived in private accommodation. Every night at around 11pm the washing machine began, then at 12pm-1am they would have a bout of arguments. On top of all this, music could be heard from the local entertainment. When the music subsided, rowdy revellers could be heard on the road to the rear of our apartment. At around 5am every morning refuse was collected... the beep-beep of a refuse wagon can be VERY annoying!

i Sunbed vultures
In the mornings, if you wished to sunbathe, you had to compete with the sunbed vultures that swarmed to ensure that they obtained 5-6 beds... even when they only used two.

i Cleaning
Linen was changed once a week and cleaning was carried out 5 times a week. Cleaning consisted of bin emptying and a quick mop of the floor with some disinfectant. Scrubbing would have got the floor clean as we discovered after our youngest son had a bout of sickness! Simply giving the floor a quick mop wasn't sufficient. When the floor dried you could still feel dirt under foot.

i The hill
According to 'Thomson Summer Sun', which we booked our holiday through, Cinco Plazas was set on a "small incline, approximately 450 metres away from the beach". Because a small incline was quoted and that the complex was close to the beach, our minds were swayed. I suffer from a medical condition so a steep hill would not be ideal. On arriving, I was stunned to find that the "small incline" had grew to a steep 1-in-4 hill. The hill had to be negotiated two-three times daily. It was also noted that the beach was not 450 metres away. It was more like 1,000 metres.

i Gold award
On checking out of Cinco Plazas it was noted that a gold award had been given to the complex - we were very surprised... until we looked closer to find that it was awarded in 1994. The combined Plazas may have been outstanding then, but have obviously been neglected since.

i Flat battery
On arriving back at Manchester we proceeded to the BCP Carminder car park... only to discover that our car battery was completely dead - a final reminder that this had been our holiday from hell.

We booked at the last minute and did not know where we would be staying. I was pleased to find that we were allocated in the Cinco Plazas, and it was a bonus to be in an apartment rather than a studio. The apartment was well equipped, modern and really clean. We only saw three cockroaches, but we were on the ground floor. The ONLY gripes were that there was very little shade around the pools (you really need this in peak season)and there was no air-conditioning. We hired a fan from the shop down the road which proved a godsend at night. To be fair we never used the entertainment in the apartments as the resort centre was so close. For the money paid it was a very good value for money holiday - I'd really recommend it both to couples and families.

We have just got back from a fornight at the Cinco Plazas and were very happy with them.

They are built in two storey locks on three levels and there are three pools (one on each level) and so you have a good chance of a pool view. The pools are all free form and were lovely and clean with plenty of areas for sunbeds and with there being three it meant ther was plenty of room for everyone. On the bottom level where the largest pool is situated there is also a seperate children's pool which is heated, so ideal for toddlers, and here is the pool bar where you can get meals, snack, take-away pizzas (nice and good value) and icecreams at only one euro each. each of the other pools had vending machines for drinks and ice creams. One big drawback though was the lack of shaded areas (there was none) and not one parasol at all, a must for those travelling with little ones ans we did find this to be a big drawback.

The apartments are situated on a hill (not exactly the incline the brochure stated, though I do notice this has been changed for the new addition) although this didn't pose us any problems and it is only a 10 minute stroll into the centre of the resort. There is a big Netto supermarket next to the hotel and also a smaller one on site so you can cater for all your needs.

The hotel offered a buffet with a different theme each evening (italian, chinese, canarian, etc) at only 895 euros which looked nice if a little limiting and plenty of people were eating there though we prefered to go for a stroll into town for our meals purely as part of our evening. Pinnochios (Italian) on the front in particular was great, friendly staff, great lasagne and pizza and a wonderful pinnochio entrecote or fillet steak (diane type sauce) which I miss already.
the apartments also have an a la carte restaurant which my parents ate in and said they enjoyed.

The evening entertainment was abit disappointing, though Hans, the entertainment organiser was great, with the highlight being a parrot show and a really good karaoke if you're into them. There's a mini disco for the kids but it only lasts half an hour at 8.30pm though the kids did enjoy it. However being so close to the resort there's plenty of bars at hand so we didn't find this to be a problem.

The Thomson kids club was great, the staff were excellent (and I'm a nursery nurse myself) Smelly Kelly, Disco Debbie and Funky Fi being sorely missed by our boys. As it wasn't busy when we went they merged the age groups and it was possible to send them 3 times in one day if we had so wished.

There were a lot of European clients here, in particular swedes which made for a good cosmopolitan atmosphere. Bar staff were very friendly and welcoming, as were reception, and we received morning calls whenever requested.

Our big disapointment was our evening trip to the Rancho Texas. Over £100 for four of us for what we thought was a glorified line dancing evening most of which you were supposed to just watch) The sangria was like water and although there was plenty on the B-b-q nothing for young kids (enormous ribs they could hardly pick up, dry chicken portions and baked potatoes and beans) They take the kids off to do activities (10 minutes on the bouncy castle, sit on the ponies but no walk, disco for another 10 minutes and then they get the crayons out)but due to insurance purposes as there have been accidents, a parent has to accompany them so one of you is left alone to watch the line dancing!! If you are used to a decent show, as we are, you could be in for a disappointment here. There were lots of complaints and some people left early in taxis....you have been warned. However, a visit in the day is pleasant and you get to see eagle, crocodile and parrot shows at a much cheaper price. We also enjoyed the half day camel hump - a ride on the camels followed by a trip to the volcanic national park, about the same cost as the evening ranch trip but far better value and our 4 and 7 year olds loved it.

We had lovely weather during our stay and all in all would recommend these apartments (and the resort of Peurto del Carmen) for a happy family holiday and would certainly return.
