| said: We travelled with our 17 year old son, so booked a mosaico suite, in the hope it would be a bit more roomy. I have to say that the room we were shown to was very small and dark, and did not offer the promised views either over the lake, pools or garden. We went down to reception and said we were disappointed, and all credit too them, they moved us to a much lighter, more spacious room with a lake view. We only realised at the end of the holiday that we had actually been upgraded to a spa room (the only difference was the spa bath). It was great having the fridge stocked daily with soft drinks, and there was an excellent range of toiletries. The fridge was also useful to stock snacks and beers we bought at the supermarket next door.
The hotel itself is absolutely beautifully appointed and the staff were friendly and helpful. We thought the breakfast hot and cold buffet was excellent . We also enjoyed the lunch and snack menus served during the day. The only disappointment was the dinner menu - we felt it was expensive and did not offer a wide choice. We think a lot of people must do as we did - eat there once and then realise that Bardolino itself offered a brilliant range of good, reasonably priced restaurants with extensive menus. We weren't disappointed with any of our meals and returned to several restaurants a 2nd time. The hotel offers a lovely choice of cocktails with canapés, which was a nice way to start or finish the evening.
The swimming pool area was very attractive, and although it was busy I always managed to get a sunbed - either mid afternoon after sight-seeing, or after breakfast for a lazy day (in which case I used a towel to reserve one just before breakfast - I've never done that before, but if you can't beat them, join them!)
As we had our teenage son with us, we went to Gardaland and the big water park at Caneva world. We used hotel taxis, to save the hassle of using the bus. Gardaland, in particular, was excellent - queues weren't too bad and I feel it is comparable to Disneyland Paris.
Traffic around the lake is horrendous - we started to panic that we hadn't left enough time to get to the airport on our return journey, so be warned.
All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday, and if we decide to return to Lake Garda, we would definately stay in the Color Hotel again.
