| said: The hotel was a very good hotel with a high level of activities, cleanliness, entertainment, and pleasent staff except reception.
It was perhaps not quite a 4 star due probably to the decor of the rooms but the excellent food, animation team, and entertainment in the evenings made up for it.It was a little quiet outside of the hotel in the bars and restaurants like ,legends, oscars who said themselves it was quiet for the height of the season.
Worth having a walk up to the costa adeje area 20 mins walk from the hotel ,bars there were quite busy especially motown magic bar.
The adeje area also has lots for kids like ,trampolines, scooter bikes, mini golf, ten pin bowling, arcades, and a iceberg inflateables in the sea during the day 10 euro all day excellent value.
Even though the hotel provided above average entertainment in the evenings it was a bit of a disappointent that it ended at 10,30pm then all in the karoke bar in the hotel till 12.when the bar closed!
Everyone apart from those who like karoke left to outside bars around the hotel and that is the hotels loss.Having given a true account and a holiday is what you make it i am sure 90% of holidaymakers staying here will enjoy it like we all did.
It does have something for everyone, and you dont have to rush down for sunbeds at silly o,clock theres plenty for everyone and if you cant see any ask a member of staff who will gladly get more out for you.
Go and enjoy you holiday and live every day as though its you last, because one day you'll be right !!

| said: We had a great time at this hotel. No worries about the room or the staff. The resturant is well staffed and they are all friendly. They are quite strict about the dress code for men at dinner but everybody else seems to get away with wearing what they want. The pool area was no hassle and not the usual towels on sunbeds at 6am. The entertainment folks will have you playing water polo and pool gymnastics every day so join in and don't be shy. We usually go for self catering but this time we fancied a change and they didn't let us down. Everything was clean and spotless. Our room was cleaned every day with regular changes of towels and bedding. We would go back to this hotel without any worries. We have been to other hotels in Tenerife and they were good but this hotel went that one step beyond to be better.

Hotel very clean, rooms cleaned every day.Outside area very comfortable.
Hotel on a main road but noise not noticable.Nice views.
Staff very freindly.
Kids club great, our 5 year old loved it,mini disco was only ok,but again our daughter loved it.
Hotel shows was hit and miss, some were very good others not so.
Booked again for same time next year, got a good deal from Direct Hols, would not pay or be happy with the hotel with what some other tour operators are charging.
Some are 50% dearer for same week.

The food in the hotel was good and plenty of choice although as with all hotels it can be repetative. Location was good short walk to the beach, lots of nice places to eat or just have a drink .only anoying thing is having holidays and prizes rammed down your throat every 5 mins witch got very boring after a bit.
Entertainment looked good but we went out most nights as the drinks in the hotel were a little expensive.
We would definetly go back to this hotel as you could hear a pin drop at night.

| said: Spent 1 week at this very good 4* hotel in Tenerife.
We were greeted Upon arrival at the hotel with a a glass of cava or orange juice which was a nice touch.
Our room was a bit dated but clean and spacious. The maid service was excellent with clean towels everday.
The food in the main restaurant was superb, lots of choice for both breakfast and evening dinner. There are 2 pools which was very good although a little chilly.
The best part of this hotel is its location with plenty of good bars and resturants and shopping centre.
We would go back although the rooms do let the hotel down but we didn't spend much time in ours anyway.

| said: This is the second time we have visited this hotel and again have found it to be exellent. The welcome from staff on arrival (with champagne to great you and orange for children) sets you off to a great holiday.
The food in the hotel was realy good, with lots of choice for both us and our son who is hard to please at meal times.
The staff are friendly and helpful, we had a problem with our room safe on arrival and it was fixed straight away, thay also sent a bottle of wine to our room for a birthday we had.
The heated out door pool was a real plus in December. We found the hotel to be very clean with good large communal areas.
Although we didn't use the services of the animacion team there seamed to be lots happening, there was also a childrens club that looked well organised but again we didn't use it.
Its close to the beach although down steps to reach. and also has bars and shops very near.

| said: Fourth visit to this hotel and probably not the last. When I was younger I vowed I would never visit the same resort twice let alone the same hotel but now that I'm getting on a bit I don't like surprises and just like to get away to totally relax and this is what you get with this hotel. A great elevated location in the middle of the resort right on the seafront with fantastic views. An easy walk in either direction to bars and restaurants to suit all tastes, fantastic clean pool area or the beach (down lots of steps) if you want it. The rooms are clean and comfortable although not the height of fashion (who spends much time in there anyway?)with air conditioning, TV with British channels, cool cupboard (not chilled enough to be called a fridge) for drinks and plenty of wardrobe space. The staff are really nice if you take the time to engage with them even though they are kept very busy, particularly in the dining room. We had a slight problem with the air conditioning which we reported before breakfast and before we could get back to the room it was sorted. The food is very good taking into consideration the size of the hotel and the amount of guests it has to cater for. Plenty of choice even for the pickiest of eaters and always hot and well presented. This hotel has a very high number of repeat visitors which I think speaks for itself as Tenerife is not the cheapest of destinations and no one would return if it wasn't up to scratch - go and enjoy!

We had a fabulous holiday and already we are looking to book again for next year. What we like about the Bouganville is the friendly staff, it's location and the food. Many of the staff have been there for years so they recognise you and make you feel very welcome. As soon as your cases are in the room you are on your holiday, you can relax and enjoy your stay. The food is excellant so much to choose from, there is something for everyones taste.

| said: We’ve been to Las Americas (self catering) many times but decided to try The Bouganville for 2 weeks in June. Location is in a great spot. Requested first floor accommodation facing pool but due to work being carried out we were allocated room 344, 3rd accommodation floor overlooking main pool, fantastic view of beach, sea and Los Cristianos. Although there’s mixed reviews The Bouganville took care of us during our visit, we certainly have no complaints and have already booked again for next year, it’s definitely value for money, entertainment included.
Staff – All staff very friendly and willing to help, most can speak very good English.
Rooms - The room and bathroom are quite spacious, cleaned every morning, beds are comfy, extra pillows in wardrobe. Air conditioning satisfactory, we left one of the keys in the electric slot so the room was cool on our return. Some say rooms need updating but you don’t spend all day in the room! A small fridge, adequate for drinks is under the tv. The tv – home from home, able to watch Eastenders, Corrie etc, sky (how sad!) We did miss tea making facilities, however, as we’d taken a small travel kettle we were able to have tea at lunch time (& snacks from Julians, just opposite at Garden City) while we watched neighbours! Not happy having to pay for the safe but as it wasn’t expensive it was worth it to know passports etc are safe. Hair dryer supplied free. There’s also a hairdresser on the ground floor, prices reasonable.
Restaurant – Food is definitely well above 4 star. Normally went for breakfast around 9am. Although there was ample choice, we just had tea, toast and banana each morning. Now for the evening meals, (starting 6:30pm) I’m really fussy about food but the selection was amazing the fourteen nights we were there. My plate was always full, a different menu each night . I don’t mormally eat desserts but managed one of the delicious desserts each night, plus crackers and cheese even after the full dinner. There’s also plenty of fresh fruit available. Actually, there’s plenty of everything available. The restaurant is quite big, buffet type meals, tables always available, never had any problems with queues. Waiting staff very efficient. No evening tea with meal. A bottle of water, enough for 2 is 1:85 euro. Wine and soft drinks are also available.
Pools – Baby and adult pools near the tennis courts. Plenty of sun beds (only a few British reserved sunbeds early each morning) There’s also a very large pool, again with plenty of sunbeds at any time of the day. Beware, the large pool is freezing but great fun when the aerobics are on, which is most days around noon. There’s also fashion shows some afternoons around the large pool. Pool side cafe is open from lunch time. One thing I did notice about the life guard, he spent all day in the shade applying sun cream, reading, and sending text messages, he didn’t really take much interest in what went on in the pool. Not a lot of kids used the large pool but when they did it was nice to watch the fun as they enjoyed themselves. There’s a back entrance to the hotel. This is handy for the paper shop each morning and quicker than going back up to the shop at reception. Access to the back gate (using your door key) can be gained until 11pm each night.
Towels – These are provided and changed daily. Beach towels can be obtained from reception for 10 euros (fully refundable when holiday is over) and these can be exchanged before noon each day if required.
Lifts – During the 2 week stay, only on 1 occasion did we have to wait several minutes. This was due to not getting into the previous lifts. They hold 13, yet people (yes, us British again) just will not move back to allow others in.
Games – The Animation Team are a great bunch and work very hard day and night to make your stay enjoyable. There’s aerobics, mini golf, bingo, table tennis, darts, rifle range etc., and free cocktails, Bougainville T shirts / baseball caps for the winners. There’s a time table available to let you know what’s going on.
Evening Shows - The hotel provides shows every evening. Two or three are done by the Animation Team. While we were there they did River Dance and Grease, both brilliant. Enjoyed the other shows too.
Internet – Didn’t use hotel facilities as we’d noticed by reviews that prices were expensive. At San Eugenio Centre just past KFC there’s a games room with internet access and phones which are quite cheap to use.
Noise – Never heard any noise from outside (perhaps that’s because we didn’t arrive back to the hotel until the early hours of the morning)
Trips – There was a ‘free blanket trip’ offered by the rep but we didn’t go on any trips this time. We enjoyed Loro Parque and the Water Park on previous visits.
Shopping – San Eugenio Centre just 2 mins from the hotel has the cheapest cigs and drinks. Plenty of little shops for gifts and the supermarket is downstairs. One of the shops also sells gas if you need it for your curling tongs, if not the shop 2 doors down from the chemist opposite have them in stock.
Santiago 3 & 5 is a bigger shopping area. Get a taxi there for about 5 euros and take a nice stroll back to the hotel via the beach.
Bus Station – Turn right at front door of hotel and the bus station is just up the hill.
Markets – Thursdays and Saturdays at Fanabe, bus stop is outside shopping centre.
Sundays at Los Cristianos, bus stop is opposite shopping centre. For some reason the bus no longer stops outside the hotel. Taxis are cheap but beware, some like to charge double the price on Sundays.
Night life – There are loads of pubs near by. The only 2 pubs we went to during this visit were St Eugen’s opposite the shopping centre, a brilliant night, great acts and delicious reasonably priced food if you’re hungry. Drinks are a bit expensive but can’t complain, there’s normally 2 cabaret acts on plus the compere to entertain you until 2am.
Also Legends, (karaoke and cabaret act) at the back of the hotel, take 2nd lot of steps (usually a PR to direct you) This bar is suitable for all ages, young and old, and there’s a little area for kids, pool table, games table, internet access. Also open till 2am. An act to watch out for while in Las Americas is BWB, they’re brilliant.
Touts – On this occasion we didn’t see one tout – bliss!
Resort – Very clean. Road works down the hill from St Eugen’s are finished. Lovely area now, many summer seats and it’s one way traffic downhill only. Road works are still on going at Veronicas area but if you’re walking along the beach they’re not noticeable.
Anyone who doesn’t like this really brilliant hotel, well! ( I wouldn’t be allowed to say on here what I’d really like to say) Just remember it’s The Bouganville, if you want Buckingham Palace go to London!

| said: Two weeks booked at the Bouganville Playa, in Adeje (Playa De Las Americas), Tenerife ... last week of May and first week of June 2007.
Hotel rated as 4*, but definitely warrants a 3*. Whilst rooms were virtually spotlessly clean, they were very outdated and in need of general updating and refurbishment.
That said, the service was on the whole good. Contrary to other reviews the food service in the buffet restauarant was very good. Always found available tables and the food variety was good enough not to become too monotonous. All very freshly prepared and cooked, the meats and desserts were excellent.
Sunbeds were available whenever we needed one, although can appreciate that during high season it might be tough to get one. The "house rules" regarding no reservation of sunbeds (by using towels) is completely ignored ... recommend complaining if there's a problem.
Main reception staff very helpful, and bar area extensive and a good atmosphere.

| said: We have just returned from our 2 week stay at his fabulous hotel. We have 2 boys aged 15 & 5 so quite hard to please both but the entertainment team managed it very well.
Many thanks to Patricio & Pedro for making our holiday fun and spending time with all the children even when off duty. Our eldest played waterpolo, football, golf, darts, riffle shooting and archery to name but a few.
Our yougest enjoyed his entertainment too making things, playing bowls, golf, bingo etc and the childrens club is all fenced in with there own playing area both outside & indoors. If you choose to leave them their they are brought back to you at the poolside when they have had enough which gives you peice of mind.
The hotel is spotless and the miad will clean your room morning or afternoon which ever you prefer. We had 2 rooms and were left 2 bottles of bubbly on our 2nd day which was a nice touch.
The food i think is excellent there is a lot to choose from and they have show cooking every day at both breakfast and evening meal so you won't go hungary. Many thanks to Julian our waiter who always had our table reserved and kept the boys drinks topped up at all times bless him he is a star.
As for the entertainment we did not stay in every night but the shows we did see were of a high standard especially the chinese acrobats who were amazing.
The pool areas were always spotless and there was always sunbeds no matter what time of day you came back. The top pool was always warmer and had a shallow end which was great as our 5 year old has only just learned to swim. (lifeguard very vigilant) and on duty from 10-6 every day.
I would have no hesitation about recomending this hotel to anybody as all of the staff are very efficient and go out of their way to make your holiday as enjoyable a s possible. Even the maintenance staff speak to you if you happen to pass them on the corridors.
THANKYOU BOUGNAVILLE WE WILL BE RETURNING AGAIN LATER ON THIS YEAR.

The hotel is situated in an excellent spot overlooking Playa las Americas and Adeje. We stayed on the 9th floor overlooking the pool and sea fantastic, and in the evening the whole surroundings come to life.
The pool and sunbed area looks over onto the beach and so gets lovely sea breezes, the pool area is clean plenty of sunbeds and umberellas and no rush to get to them.
The staff were extremely helpful we even had a bottle of champs on ice in the room, entertainment was of a high standard every evening.
The restaurant was buffet style didnt get too busy, the quantity and choice was excellent however the quality was slightly poor, hope to return soon.

| said: Third visit to this hotel and again it did not disappoint.
For me the location is ideal as it is not in the thick of the action but you can easily walk to Puerto Colon in one direction and Veronicas in the other. If you want to go further then taxis are reasonable and plentiful.
The hotel is very good value for money. It is spotlessly clean and the staff are very efficient - like at most hotels, if you make the effort to smile and say Hola first you will nearly always get a positive response.
We had a top floor room overlooking the resort and beaches and the view was amazing. As the hotel is built high on the rocks the pool area also benefits from the views across the resort and to La Gomera (somedays!) and there is always a breeze even on scorchers. Although last week we had some very windy days and the parasols were even blowing over when they were closed!
The rooms are clean, comfortable and adequately furnished. The beds seem more comfortable than they were a few years ago and they no longer have the horrid plastic mattress covers. Satellite TV which now includes BBC1, ITV and Sky Sports- hurrah, we no longer have to endure BBC World! An empty fridge which is great for the inevitable middle of the night thirsts! Bathrooms are fine with an efficient shower and a hairdryer that actually dries your hair quickly!
The restaurant is very good though you might have to pick your time more carefully when the hotel is full. There is plenty of choice and the food is kept hot. I won't go into detail because everyone has their own views on what is classed as 'good food' but no reasonable person would go hungry here.
Overall an excellent value for money hotel.

Room cleaned daily and fresh sheets and towels daily also. In the room also was small cold cupboard (not a refrigerator) but was ideal for keeping water and soft drinks cool.
Food plentiful and, being buffet, you could eat what you fancied. Having a 3am call for the flight home we asked for a snack breakfast and this was provided although, sadly it had been prepared the night before and had been left out (covered) in the restaurant - everything had gone soft.
Location was good, very handy for the beaches.
Towels for sun beds available from the hotel for a returnable deposit.
Hotel staff were very helpful, a change of room was asked for on arrival and immediately granted.
Entertainment for my wife and I was usually at the piano bar where the keyboard players made dancing a pleasure, especially when they played the Spanish music!
We would indeed visit this hotel again

| said: We have stayed in other hotels in this chain before so we were sure that at least we would be pleased with our hotel.... we were in for a shock . The lobby was luxurious booking in was efficient.
Then we saw our room, to describe the accommodation as basic would be a compliment this most definitely is not my idea of a four star hotel, the room was shabbily furnished with three uncomfortable single beds flat pillows and air con which needed the card in all day to keep it reasonable.
The hotel staff looked as unhappy as us , the food was plain and not much of a variety.
the restaurant was badly organised with only one waiter seeming to know his job, the food was often lukewarm and by our third night we were eating out mostly.
If you put out the make up room sign on the towels would be changed but the sheets were only changed once in a week.
The pool area was beautiful, very well set out and overlooked the sea, we found there were plenty of sunbeds , the only draw back to the pool area were the entertainment team who found themselves far more entertaining than we found them.
Without a doubt we will never return to this hotel chain again .

We usually stay self catering so was a bit wary of the food only because I’m not very adventurous was pleasantly surprised at the choice of the quality of the food, always hot and well presented.
The waiters are excellent the only small complaint was that you could not get a drink with your evening meal not even water unless you paid for it. I think water or soft drinks should be made available.
Te hotel was very clean. Rooms cleaned daily towels changed whenever you wanted we didn’t have any problems getting sun beds any time we were there during the fortnight.
The entertainment during the day was excellent for adults and children everyone was encouraged but not forced to take part. Cant comment on the evening entertainment as we went out every evening would definitely return to this hotel again.

Yes we could go to a Five star hotel but it is not really perfect for kids really, that is why we have returned here, you dont spend that much time in the room only to sleep and shower!
You know exactly what you get here and I would not like to go somewhere else and then compare it to this hotel and then wish I was there.
All the nationalites mix and enjoy the Adults and Kids Activities.
The bar staff/waiting staff/chef's have been pretty much the same for the last four years which must point to a happy ship!
A special message goes to Domingo who is the best waiter I know in any restaurant in the world! Mateo,Franiciso and Reinanldo the best Barmen to keep my glass full on holiday and they make the best Bloody Mary and Iberostar or Beach fruit cocktail for my Son.
The Entertainment crew Mariano,Patrizo,Ruben,Nicole,Sergio,Andrea,Nieve as ever work so hard and are always happy and ensure you have a great holiday either during the day or evening!

| said: Having stayed in this hotel a few years ago we noticed a few changes for the better. The lifts were faster and better, the pools were much improved, the location for the entertainment was much better. It was nice to be greeted on arrival with a glass of wine.
On the whole the cleanliness of the hotel was very clean with the rooms being cleaned every day. However on one occasion we had a dead cockroach on the balcony and another day there was a live one in the bathroom.
The food was wonderful with so much choice. They catered for all tastes. Special mention must go to Domingo the waiter in the restaurant. He was always smiling, enjoyed a laugh and a joke and remembered what we wanted to drink each night.
The only down side of this hotel was that you needed to reserve a sunbed (even though it said this was forbidden). On our first day we did not go the pool until 11.00. By then all the beds were taken or reserved. We went to the beach instead which is only a short walk away. A good point about the pool is that there is always a lifeguard on duty and an emergency number very prominent.
The entertainment was very professional especially the Irish dancing. We were surprised at how talented the star friends were. During the day they would be running the activities e.g archery, table tennis etc then at night they would be performing on the stage.
We definitely hope to return to this hotel in the future.

The staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. As we checked in we got a free glass of champagne and for the children a glass of orange juice. During the day there was a regular games around the hotel such as bingo and water polo. On some days one of the pools had floats out for the children.
The food was delicious as there was a variety of things to eat for breakfast and dinner. There was a local supermarket as you passed through the gate which was extremely cheap.
The location was very handy for shops, bar's and restaurant's.

We email for rooms next to each other, we were given rooms on 5th floor, but not together, rooms were good enough for 3 and the beds are 3 quarter size. Toilet a bit small for some people, but you do not spend a lot of time there.
All in all ok for a 2 week stay. Food was excellent. Lots of choice only bug bear was you have to where trousers at dinner time.
The entertainment was average, the staff was excellent, and the rooms and towels were changed every day. If you left towels in the bath, all in all a very good place to stay.
We would return no problem.

| said: We travelled to the Bouganville Playa in July 06. We normally stay in 4/5*hotels as a standard but in our opinion this hotel was not to a normal 4* standard hotel standard (yes we have read the other reviews). The rooms were very dated (though we understand that they had been recently refurbed in 2005).
We decided to give the hotel the benefit of the doubt given the reviews on this site and see how the holiday progressed! Unfortunately, the rubber mattress protectors and the noise from the numberous Karoke bars across the road was quite intrusive, my husband was prepared to stick it out though unhappy, I decided to contact our travel agent (Security Travel) who were absolutely fantastic in arranging a transfer to a hotel of our choice (though they said that numberous customers requested this hotel year on year)! We cannot fault the service/food at this hotel just the location, and the star rating was not to the standard for a 4* hotel.
If you don't mind the lively location ie Playa De Las Americas (from the hotel to Veronica's strip we walked in 5-10 mins!) and you don't mind a basic room and rubberised mattress covers then this hotel may be ideal for you, but in our opinion we would never stay in this hotel/location again.
If you like british food when you go on holiday, this hotel is surrounded by numberous restaurants/bars which sell pie & chips and full english breakfasts!!!
We eventually moved with the help of our travel agent to the Costa Adeje Gran hotel totally different class of hotel and only 5 euros away from Playa D Las Americas.(see our review on the Gran Hotel).

Hotel location was excellent as you can use one of the lower floors to use the gate which is only for hotel guest worked by your own card, which is then only a short walk to the beach.
The entertainment during the day was great something for everyone to join in including water polo, pool aerobics, football and more evening was early from 9.30 till 10.30 but something on every night.
Brill holiday at this hotel and certainly would go back again.

The Animation Crew provide excellent activities during the day which all nationalities join in - great for making new friends and certainly bringing out your competitive streak. My daughter enjoyed playing with the Mini Club every day leaving us some time to ourselves to relax and sun bath.
The waiters in the restaurant are friendly and helpful - it was nice to be remembered from our previous visits. We received a complimentary birthday cake for our daughter's birthday and they had a party in the Mini Club for her. The food is nice but was not as good as previous visits but this is made up for by the wide variety available. The lunch menu at the poolside bar is quite expensive but we rarely needed to eat till our evening meal anyway.
It would have been nice if some of the evening entertainment had been changed from previous visits.
I would definately visit again.

| said: This is our first visit to Tenerife and this hotel. Cannot fault this hotel, we thoroughly enjoyed every minute - cannot understand what people have to moan about.
Food was very good. Waiters in restaurant very friendly and helpful. I dropped a knife one day and a waiter rushed to pick it up for me, calling for me to leave it as he would pick it up.
Lots of activities going on around the pool(competitions, aerobics, football, bingo etc). Entertainment staff were excellent and all spoke very good English (kept my two sons as well as us adults entertained all day long).
There were three pools and plenty of sun beds; no need to get out of bed at 6.00am to put towels out (this was a first).
Only stopped in hotel twice to watch the evening entertainment but what we saw was good. All the entertainment staff work very hard.
Rooms very clean, maids cleaned them very day. Before arriving we asked for middle floor rooms overlooking the pool and that is exactly what we got.
It was our anniversary while on holiday and the hotel presented us with a complimentary cake, which was very scrumptious.
Hotel is situated within easy reach of shops, bars etc. Legends Bar is well worth a drink in, it is situated to the side of the hotel, halfway down the steps to the sea front.
We will definately come back to this hotel, it made our holiday.

Our second week we received the same for my husband’s birthday. It was a very nice touch!!! Buffet for breakfast and dinner is a great choice and plenty of everything. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. We didn’t drink too often in hotel (bit pricey) plenty bars out with to drink at with better prices!!!
Entertainment is not our cup of tea we prefer to go to Irish bars great entertainment in them.
Rooms have fridge, hairdryer, clean towels daily and air-conditioning.

| said: This was our 2nd visit to this wonderful hotel and it did not disappoint second time round. We e-mailed the hotel beforehand with a few requests and they were all met including a fantastic room with a huge balcony and excellent sea/pool views. A great start!!
Added to this on our second day we received a knock on our room door to be met by a waitress with an ice bucket complete with champagne and 2 glasses-very nice indeed!
The hotel is always spotless and rooms well cleaned daily. Cockroaches obviously not welcome here!!!
The hotel staff are in the main very adult/child friendly and speak good English.
The hotel entertainment was the usual mixed bag some good some bad a terrible magic act springs to mind but the kids disco is heaven for an hour!!
The food as others have commented on is fantastic and should appeal to all.
The hotel is well located and a nice walking distance to the not so pleasant Playa de las Americas with it's hordes of timeshare pests who do not take no for an answer despite what your rep may tell you so stay in Costa Adeje or visit Los Cristianos for a change of scenery.
Jungle park and Loro Parque are well worth a visit especially if you have children as some of the shows enthralled my young son as well as his mum/dad!
Would happily recommend this hotel as I feel it is a very good 4* and I hope to return again in the near future!

CLEANLINESS-Public areas 5 Star,Room not so good, but acceptable.FOOD-Could have been 4 Star, but for concerns about undercooked meat(particularly show cooking) and "fresh" fruit with mould on(for several days running).Otherwise good choice except for lack of suitable vegetables on many occasions.
LOCATION-Ideally situated midway between Los Christianos and El Duque with a sea front walk all the way. Some people may find the hill and steps down to the sea front a bit of a bind.STAFF-Could have been 5 Star but for concerns in restaurant.
ENTERTAINMENT-Better than most hotels we've been to,with excellent ABBA and Beatles tribute bands, and some gifted acrobats, jugglers etc.The Star Friends efforts were decidedly 2 Star.
Would probably not visit this hotel again because of the restaurant.

| said: Reception staff were friendly & efficient when we arrived & we were given a glass of sparkling wine. The reception area is very well presented & clean.
There is an entertainment team offering games & activities throughout the day that always seemed well participated & supervised.
Restaurant staff seem friendly & efficient but a little bit hasty in clearing the tables! Almost before you've finished!
The rooms are big enough for 2 people. There was a small balcony with a beautiful sea view. The decor was fine & bedding clean. Rooms cleaned everyday & always done well. There was a mini bar in the room & the price list seemed quite expensive but fridge okay for storing water. Although, the fridge door didn't shut properly & we woke up one morning to find it had defrosted & left a puddle on the floor. A criticism more to the placement of the room; it was at the end of the building nearest the road & it was noisy because of the bars opposite (I knew all the words to several karaoke songs after a few days!) but thankfully the music stopped shortly after midnight. Television channels in English are limited to news but it's not a problem as I don't think you go on holiday to watch TV. Lots of bars in local area that have Sky TV though if you must!
Beach towels can be rented (with daily exchange, if you need it before 1200hrs at reception) & the deposit is fully refundable.
A good selection of food at breakfast including cereals, fruit, pastries & cooked foods. Dinner has a good selection of salad & fruit & always a pasta with basic sauces. There is a hot area where food is cooked to order (show cooking?). Usually a meat & a fish offering. Be warned, the fish isn't boneless!! I didn't eat anything from there myself as the meat looked cheap & of poor quality. My travelling companion did on one occasion & said it was poor. I did expect much more of the food due to previous reviews resembling "excellent". It wasn't!
2 good sized swimming pools that never seemed overused. There are lots of sunbeds & again, there was plenty of room. As usual people reserved the beds but still lots of choice. There are plenty of parasols & awnings to sit under. There is a snack bar that served reasonably priced food (nicer than restaurant!) & drink & a pool bar. The outside area is large & didn't ever seem overcrowded. There is also a "roof top solarium" which has a few loungers dotted around & ideal if you fancy a bit of peace! If you can stand the height, the view is fantastic & worth a look.
The bar / lounge area is large with views out to sea & from what I saw fairly quiet most of the time. Drinks seem slightly overpriced but not extortionate.
4 lifts to upper floors / bedrooms. They're quite slow at meal times but otherwise you can get up & down pretty quickly.
There is an entertainment area on a lower floor providing nightly entertainment. Watched Flamenco one night that was good but I can't offer any further comment.
There is a gate activated with the card key that leads to shops & the beach. I think opening times for the gate are 0800hrs - 2300hrs.
The hotel overlooks the sea / beach area but I didn't realise quite how far it was to the beach. There's a fair incline or steps, depending which way you go & I'd be mindful about accessibility for those with mobility problems.
There's also a token offering of a gym with limited equipment.
I think I'd probably rate this as a 3* hotel. I'd be unlikely to stay here again but it's reasonable & I did enjoy the week.

Location fine, bit of hill down to beach but lovely walks along the promenade. Entertainment in the hotel was a little dull on some nights but have to say a couple of professional acts and the flamenco were good.
Love to go back to this hotel every bit as good as Thomson Gold and Platinum. Swimming pools nice, plenty of sunbeds.

Although the hotel is really geared up for the kids, including games room(with table tennis, pool table and arcade games), competitions (rifle shooting, darts, bowling, mini golf and football) and entertainment (mini disco and shows) it wasnt overrun by them, but enough to keep my two sons (aged 7 and 10) company. The activities were for everyone, young and old, and the staff (starfriends) who arranged these were very friendly but not too pushy - you did not have to participate.
The hotel was extremley clean everywhere.
The food was good with lots to chose from, again the waiting staff were friendly and always working with a smile.
The entertainment of an evening was pretty good, while we were there we saw some professional shows and some by star friends who must work really hard.
The location was good too, not even 5 min walk to the beach, and promenade with shops, bars and restuarants, about a 10 minute walk to the water park and 10 minutes to port colon with more shops and bars.
We do not have one bad word to say about this hotel , thankyou Hotel Bouganville for a fantastic holiday.

| said: I you want a quiet holiday this is the place to go, approx 6 children here at most, 2 of them ours.
Hotel is full of middle aged to elderly visitors, a large percentage being German.
The food is excellent, you could not get better anywhere, the only thing which lets the hotel down at meal times is at dinner. There is no drink supplied not even water for the table, you have to pay for any type of liquid refreshment (tea and coffee not available at dinner).
Road works now finished around the hotel. Be warned there is a steepish walk down to the beach (steps and slopes). Hotel and surrounding areas very clean including pool areas.
Safe deposit costs 17 euros including 5 euros deposit which is refundable. The rooms although clean do not deserve a 4 star rating 3 star would be more appropriate.
Went on the Teide and Island tour which we booked down towards the beach at the rear of the hotel, an excellent day out costing 19 euros each, much cheaper then booking it with the tour reps at the hotel.
The only reason we would not return to this hotel, is that we make a point of never going back to the same place twice.

All of the staff we met were very friendly, especially the entertainers.
The restaurant was large, being for a big hotel, but the tables were set out nicely and we enjoyed all of our meals.
The hotel location is ideal, being near to the beach, bars and shopping. The road works outside the hotel were horrendous, but fortunately we were allocated a room on the first floor which faced away from the building site.
We were so impressed that we have booked another holiday at the Bouganville Playa in May 2006.

| said: Returned to the hotel after 5 years. The first visit was I have to say amazing!!! Everything about the hotel was first class especially the food. This time sadly it wasn't so.
Hotel itself is spotlessly clean in EVERY respect. The problems with the road works are of course not the hotels fault, actually it's amazing no one who owns property around that area hasn't blown their stack, so to speak with the local authorities. It's terrible and has gone on FAR TOO LONG. They now have about half the resort "dug up" in both directions from the hotel! Back to the hotel.
I too was a little disappointed with the refurb. Frankly I think the only refurbed bits are the fire damage and a few concrete bits that were probably due to be renovated(the hotel is quite old).
The rooms are definitely the same!!! Same furniture, same bedspread and curtains!! and same floor tiles. Therefore if they have refurbed...they have done it exactly the same (not very imaginative!!)
The T.V. is terrible. 5 Spanish channels, 5 or 6 German, and we get BBC World News, CNN News and sky news. I ended up watching the Spanish Childrens T.V. cartoons!
Staff are still friendly and efficient.
Pool areas nice (always were) but they have TOOOOO many sunbeds! You can hear your neighbour breathing hahahaha!!
Seriously now, the food is not as good as it was. I agree totally about the vegetables. This might sound trivial, but it's really strange walking around and around trying to find something to compliment your fish/meat etc. when there are no "usual" veggies. ONE night we got Broc.and Cauli together! and I applauded the staff serving. Blank looks all round Shame as this was the hotel I have recommended so many times since my last visit and I am now undecided whether to return again. Frankly, I think the La Nina down the road spoilt me in July 05. Any good deals and I would certainly not knock it though!

| said: Returned recently from our second stay at the Bouganville Playa. We were really looking forward to seeing the refurbishments that had taken place, but to be honest we were a bit disappointed.
POOL AREAS
It appears that it is only the pool areas that have been refurbished, but the pool shapes are exactly the same. The main pool is a large rectangle shape surrounded by rows of sun beds, and looked almost exactly the same as before (and is freezing cold!) There are LOTS of sun beds, but they are very close together and there is not much room to manoeuvre! The smaller pool is heated and is very nice, but whilst we were there it was troubled by the noise from the road works right outside the hotel.
ROOM COMFORT
The rooms are large, and we were lucky enough to have a room away from the road works, but I would say the rooms are quite tired and dated, and I would say needed a refurb more than the outside space. There were plenty of drawers and hanging space. The beds were comfortable. Our balcony saw the sun in the afternoon, which was very pleasant. There was a small fridge in the room which was provided free of charge. There was a TV which had a limited number of channels. The bathrooms were quite small, and ours definitely needed a revamp.
FOOD
The dining room was large and there were lots of tables, we never struggled to find a table at breakfast or dinner. The food choice was okay, personally I didn’t think it was as good as our stay last year. There were some very odd food combinations on at night, and there was a very limited choice of vegetables, some evenings there wasn’t even one choice of veg. The show cooking was nice and we enjoyed steak, lamb chops, pork steaks and chicken. There was a carvery as well as a big salad bar. There is a separate bread section and a large variety of bread and rolls. There was also a cheese and biscuit selection available at dinner time.
STAFF
The staff were all very pleasant, and indeed one of the waiters remembered us from last year! The star friends worked very hard, and didn’t hassle you to join in if you weren’t interested. We went out every evening so never saw the evening entertainment.

| said: Our review of the Bouganville Playa – travel date 16.12.05 – 30.12.05
After our experience of the coach last year we travelled by taxi to the hotel, this took around 10 minutes and cost 20euros.
We went to this hotel being told by several people that it was better than the Torviscus, where we went last year. After our experience of both we don’t really think there is much difference between the 2.
The food is ok, more selection than the Torviscus, however we don’t eat fish so can’t comment on that, the meat was cheap, undercooked, fatty cuts which we wouldn’t touch. Saying that loads of salad, another holiday where no weight was gained! There was show cooking for both breakfast and evening meals. Christmas dinner was quite nice although the hotels insist on making 2 sittings so that the dining room is like a cattle market. We ate out for 3 nights as the quality and lack of decent food gave both my husband and I stomach cramps.
Before we arrived I e-mailed the hotel with 3 requests, my e-mail was immediately replied to saying that my requests would be arranged. I asked for a low floor room, 20 extra coat hangers and a room away from the road works. When we arrived one of our requests had been met. This was the low floor; we were in a second floor room (however being in a second floor room actually means you are already 5 floors up in this hotel). We were slap bang facing the road works, and there were 5 measly coat hangers. I sorted the coat hanger situation out, but didn’t think the road works would be too much of a problem. Our room was nice with a tiled floor new furniture and new bathroom. After being informed on this forum that the rooms hadn’t been refurbished I found this odd as the room in the Torviscus were quite old and scuffed and expected these to be the same. However I was informed by a woman who has been to this hotel 14 times that the first and second floor rooms were renovated after a fire 2 years ago.
The hotel pool areas were spotless with loads of sun beds, which the pervy pool man was fanatical about keeping in regimented lines!
The Hotel bars were expensive as expected.
Loads of wasted space in this hotel, it became quite a chore going down to the pool (five floors from our room) to the restaurant (4 floors from our room) when we don’t use lifts!
The reception area was nice but the stairs down to the bars/pool/restaurant reminded us of a multi storey car park, dimly lit and depressing.
We went to loads of bars, the ones directly across from the hotel were all ok apart from the star bar. We were constantly being asked to have more drinks even when we still had half our glass left. We even had half full glasses whipped away from in front of us. We are quite big drinkers so are not in the practise of sitting nursing the same pint for an hour. So what at first seemed like good service eventually became irritating, especially during our last drink we were asked 6 times to have another. On the 6th time my husband said to the waitress “Will you just get out of our faces for a little while?” She was very confrontational and rude, then poked her face close to my husband almost nose to nose and replied, “I’ll get in your face if I wanna get in your face, what you gonna do about it? You won’t get anywhere in Tenerife if you can’t cope with people in your face!” My husband said to her that he would get drinks when we were ready, she pointed to my glass and said “Look at her, she’s nearly finished!”
When we told her to look on here for a review in 2 weeks time she just laughed. I just hope this review prevents some customers at least.
That was our only awful experience (on our first night) we used many bars down Puerto Colon, our favourite being Kitty O’Sheas, a newly opened bar whilst we were there. Entertainment every night, very reasonable prices and excellent service. We both wish the proprietors Danny and Kath all the very best in their new venture.
The weather while we was there was on the whole very good, there were only 2 days when you couldn’t sit out at all. One was the first Tuesday we were there, it started raining on the Monday night at 11.30 and didn’t stop until Tuesday night. Another day was cloudy for the whole of the day. Other than that the sun came out every day and we have great tans!
When we go to Tenerife again we will go Self catering.

| said: We've stayed in some nice hotels in Tenerife but this one will take some beating.
Its a massive hotel with extensive grounds and in a prime position on a rocky outcrop, with some fantastic views at no extra cost.
Each floor has a viewing platform, the best being in the attic at the very top of the hotel, there is also a solarium on the top floors.
There are two beautiful looking decent sized pools, which have just been refurbished. (one heated). Brand new sun beds which have handy armrests.
The hotel seemed full but we had no trouble getting sun beds, there was very little evidence of the traditional reserving of the sun beds, we were at the pool by 9 O'clock most days and we would be nearly on our own.
The most likely reason is, there is no prime spots to sunbath as you get the sun all day.
The food was very good as was the service, there was a nice little chap who waits on, I don't know his name but he looks like one of the chuckle brothers. we never had any trouble getting a table.
The rooms are decent enough although the furniture could do with a change and the bathroom is a bit small.
Some hotels tend to take your eyes out with the drinks and snacks, but this one seemed reasonable enough with a good array of lunches. if you don't want to lunch at the hotel there's bar restaurants near by with good food.
The entertainment is mostly in house and done by the entertainments team, not our cup of tea but did seem well attended.

| said: We have been to this hotel before and enjoyed it as much this time as we did last time. We were greeted with sparkling wine and very friendly reception staff who speak very good English.
The hotel was very clean and the rooms were too. They were cleaned every day and towels/bedding were changed regularly too.
The food was good - not excellent, but good enough. There was a lot of choice and the waiters were so nice and funny.
With having a young child we didn't see the evening entertainment but we were always informed of what was going on and invited to come along. The entertainment in the day was fabulous. Lots to do and not badgered to take part if you didn't want to. Our son went along to the Kids Club and he loved it. The staff were absolutely brilliant with him.
We were pre-warned about the roadworks but please do not be put off by it. It is not a problem whatsoever! The pool area has been re-done since the last time we came and it is a lot better. There is plenty of room around the pool for everyone and we didn't experience any 'reserving' of beds. This area was also very clean.
All three of us thoroughly enjoyed our time there and there's no doubt that we will be returning there in the near future.

| said: I booked this hotel mainly based on the reviews I read on this site, so feel that I have to add comments as I mostly disagree with what has been written.
Greeted with a glass of sparkling wine - lovely - but also greeted by a lovely big cockroach within 5 minutes of being in the room, just before our cases were bought along by the bell boy whom I asked to remove it. He did not seem shocked by this and removed it by kicking it into the corridor and then treading on it. He then advised we change our room and needless to say did not hover for a tip ! We were moved to a high room, I think for obvious reasons. I would add that this was the only occasion we met a bug, but the damage was done.
Room was extremely basic, not what I would class as 4*. Beds cheap and uncomfortable. Shower was one of those connected to the bath taps, and went from being too hot to freezing constantly during a short shower -prompting loud unprintable outbursts from my husband by the 3rd day.
Hot food at best was mediocre. There was indeed plenty of choice, but meat was cheap cuts, fatty, and in some cases (from the grill) seemed to be 'rationed'. Best choice to me was the 'veggie' options (and we are big meat eaters) or salad.
Pool area was lovely, clean, and plenty of 'unreserved' sunbeds. However there are always some people that seem to think they have a right to first choice even if they do not appear until midday -if you fall into that category stop it NOW !!!!
People have mentioned the roadworks, and they were a pain in the neck. You could hear them all day long if you stayed around the pool area.
I have to say I would not stay hear again, based on food, it's very basic rooms. We stayed at the Vulcano a few years ago, and this hotel is not in the same class ....
