When we were shown to our room, I was surprised that it felt a bit like a prison cell, dark, damp and smelly. There were holes in the windows which we had to stuff paper in to stop the mossies getting in.
The bathroom stank, toilet was filthy and the shower didn't work. We ordered and extra bed for our 6 year old son. This wasn't in the room, we arrived at the hotel at 11am and after much badgering of the hotel staff the bed arrived in the room at 10pm.
My son cut his back in the pool, as the tiles all around it were sharp and dangerous. We resigned ourseleves to the fact that we were stuck here so asked the reception for an upgrade, they fobbed us off each day with 'come back later/tomorrow'.
On day four we gave up trying and I phoned the rep and he moved us the very next day which was good news as we had had enough. The breakfast was quite good, and the waiting staff couldn't do enough for you, but the front desk staff were rude and unhelpful. The pool staff were friendly too.
The hotel were charging 80rupees for a small bottle of water (20rs in the shop). Also the food on the room service menu was expensive so we didn't eat at the hotel. There is a restaurant in the same complex called 'Neils Cabana' which had very good food in a nice location.
Also due to the location of the hotel, they had a bit of a monopoly on taxis, where you had to use their taxis if you wanted to go anywhere. The fixed prices were very high as well.
On the day that the rep came to move us, he came to the room to see how bad it was, and the phone rang, it was the front desk asking us if we wanted an upgrade.
This was just to save face as the rep was there and I was insulted that that they offered it 5 days after we had been asking.
I wouldn't recommend anyone stay at this hotel, there is no atmosphere and it is really geared up for the Indian businessman/Russian holidaymaker.

| said: Myself and best mate stayed here at a cost of £950 each for two weeks in November 2006. First impressions were very poor.
The hotel is isolated, and once inside reception looking around at the decor, we wondered what was to come. It took 45 minutes to sign in and be taken to our "superior" room where not only were we about 25ft from the pool, but it had a double bed! After the porter ringing reception, 10 minutes later moved to a twin room, still outside the pool! The room was dark, smelt really musty, was so small you would have a job to swing a mouse let alone a cat! There was one chest of drawers for our clothes which smelt when you opened it, so decided to leave clothes in our suit cases. We had loads of guests each day, cockroaches and even frogs! Went back to reception to complain about the quality of the "superior" room and the location but that was all they had due to 3 conferences going on at the hotel. The shower only worked once on hot, so who ever had the first shower got that benefit, after that it was either cold or cold! The hot water tap on the sink didn't work at all, the toilet if flushed, if you could call it that, meant it would take an age to fill to be able to flush again! We did complain at reception several times, but nothing was ever done, I think they were more interested in the people there on the conferences than their holiday guests.
The pool had a sign saying "not to be used before 8am", so we had people outside our room at 6.45ish most mornings screaming and playing around the pool, not very nice when sometimes we didn't get to bed until 4am! While we were there a Russian couple with a young lad had been swimming in the pool and the boy cut himself badly, we later found out that he wasn't to only one.
The staff are the worse I have ever encountered in India who don't seem to give a damn.
The taxi rank outside the hotel are very expensive, although we didn't use them as we have our own taxi who used to pick us up down the road away from the hotel.
Overall, this hotel would have to rate as the worse place I have ever stayed at.
PS. never tried breakfast so can't comment on that, but if it's like the rest of the place, I'm glad we didn't!!
