Secluded with outstanding sea views, friendly attentive staff, a good qualit accommodation, and a warm welcome the aquacanis is a great place if you are looking to get away with from it all. There are steep steps at the entrance to the complex so not recommended for people with mobility problems

Considering we were self - catering in the apartments, the utilities that were provided were very limited and were not as they were described in the brochure.

The night we arrived at the apartments the room that we had been allocated to seemed to have been broken into on a previous occasion.

We had a disrupted first night as we had little sleep due the uncontrollable fear that the patio doors were not in a secure state. The problem could have easily been resolved but the apartment staff were not there upon our arrival and had left our key stuck to the reception door with tape. Clearly they were concerned that the thief may come back and they wanted to ensure that he would not break the door again. As well as this, on the same night we noticed that the tap in the kitchen had basically been broken away from the sink and was not in a state to be used. We were very disappointed that the room had been allowed to stay in this condition and then left for us to stay in for what could have been the duration of the holiday.

The following day we were moved to a different room which was slightly better than the previous, but after just one week the hot water stopped working and we were forced to have cold showers for the rest of our stay. The problem was reported to the staff in the reception on several occasions in the one day and we were re-assured that the problem would be resolved and sorted by the morning. Another couple staying in the apartment next door had also complained about the absence of warm water.

The cause of this upset may have been down to the building work that was also going on in the rooms directly above our own which condensed at 9:00 in the morning and continued throughout the day until tea time.

The cleaning maids did seem to be friendly but I felt that they could have changed the bed sheets on a more regular basis and also the towels. I would strongly steer anyone away from staying at these apartments or at least to investigate the condition of the whole place before booking to stay here for any amount of time.

We were very disappointed and will not be returning to Puerto Rico due to the uncomfortable stay in Aquacanis Apartments.

Hotel was basic and requiring some maintenance repairs to doors and a fresh coat of paint! Headboards in bedroom just resting behind beds, not fixed! Cleaning staff was regular but would have preferred bedding to be changed more often. The steps to the apartment were a shock but got used to them eventually, definitely not for the faint hearted!!

The resident "pest" as he called himself was an excellent entertainer but typically Geordie British!! Shame though, went there to escape Britain for two weeks. He really could motivate people to partake in pool rounders-lilo racing-killer pool etc...

Fantasic view over marina and out to sea.

The weather was extremely hot and the nights were too.

The reps were excellent, more than reps, made you feel like friends, excellent! Give the place a try, you will grow to love it!

Just returned from the Aquacanis, this was our second time at these apartments.

The apartments are very basic but are clean and pleasant. The menu in the bar is limited but is very good, but there are plenty of other restaurants nearby. There are plenty of cooking utensils in the apartments if you wish to stay in and cook, although there are only two cooking rings but you can hire a microwave.

The location is a little on the outskirts but I prefer this as you are away from all the noise and only a 15 min walk to bars and shops or 2 minutes by taxi which costs 2 euro's. The rooms are situated in tiers and it is a steep climb if you are put at the top, however you can request a low floor, the view over the ocean are fantastic.

Henion and his bar staff are fantastic and very friendly and Tony who provides the entertainment is great, the wednesday night bbq is well worth it, there are also quizes and bingo most nights.

We stayed at the Aquacanis in Aug/Sept of this year and we found it a very nice place indeed.

Pool is a nice size and was always very clean.
Staff extremely friendly and helpful.

Ramon went out of his way to help us when we needed it regarding our holiday not the complex.

Yes there are a lot of steps to your room especially if you are on the top floor like we were, but we knew about this in advance and it in no way spoiled our stay there at all.

Excellent pool side bar , serving meals all day and good quality priced meals.

Lacking in entertainment but I believe this has now been sorted and we will definitely be going back there next year.

Siuated away from all the hustle and bustle of PR's main area and a loverly 15-20 minute stroll into town in the evenings.

overall 10/10 from us.

We weren't told about the steep steps up to our room and no help was offered to carry our cases up.

In total we found 5 large cockroaches in our apartment we were not warned of this either.

Our spending money went missing from our rooms after they had been cleaned! No action was taken by the hotel staff.

Advice to guests look after your money!

The entertainment was good and Tony was very lively.

After reading many bad reports we were a little apprehensive about these apartments but on arrival found them to be clean and tidy.

We have visited Puerto Rico on numerous occasions and found the accommodation in a good location, very close to the beach and only a 15 minute walk to the centre.

The only small problem in the room were the ants, but apart from this the room was very clean and comfortable. We saw no cockroaches at all (helped by putting a towel across the gap in the door to be sure) and had a fantastic sea view.

The pool area was very clear and spacious, with plenty of sunbeds.

The best restaurant in Puerto Rico is San Miguel in the town centre it is great value for money.

We would definitely visit these apartments again as they all in all they are excellent!

The apartments were ok.

Cleaning staff were very friendly, bar manager a great success, made it nice to stay in the complex.

Very well situated within walking distance, nice views.

We went self catering but most of our stay we ate at the bar, very tasty meals.

I travelled to Puerto Rico with my boyfriend in July 2004 for the first time. The apartments did not look fantastic in the travel agents brochure, but we compromised this, due to the fact that it was in a good location.

We were more than delighted when we arrived at the apartments. The apartment was very spacious, very clean and had a lovely view from the balcony. The other areas around the hotel, i.e. bar, swimming pool and toilets etc were also very clean.

Despite going self-catering we had a couple of really tasty snacks at the hotel. The menu was basic but the food was brilliant.

We found the apartments to be in a good location. There was a fairly steep hill leading back up to the apartments, however we used this as an exercise to burn off all those English breakfasts!
The apartments were a 15-20 minute walk to the main shopping centre.

The English managers, Graham and Nicky, were absolutely brilliant. They made our stay a very memorable one!! Graham was a great entertainer for both the kids and adults around the hotel and did his best to ensure that everyone had a great time.
Indeed the Spanish staff were also very friendly and were always around to provide assistance.

We found ourselves staying round the hotel a couple of evenings, joining in Graham's games and sampling the delights of the Spanish barbecue night, which was superbe-definitely worth getting tickets for!!

My boyfriend and I would definitely visit these apartments again. We actually went back to Puerto Rico at Christmas after having such a wonderful summer, however the Aquacanis was fully booked!!

Our rooms had all the basic requirements, and were clean and welcoming. The bins and towels were changed every day except Sunday, and our linen was changed once in the week we were there. The food at the pool bar was basic, but nice.

The apartments were 5mins walk from the local shops and restaurants, about 10-15 mins from the beach, and about another 10mins into the town centre.

Before we went we were warned of a big hill, but luckily the apartments are only a short way up the hill, so are a nice walk to get to. We were also warned of other problems at the apartments, such as cockroaches and the place being dirty. We didn't encounter any of these. There were a few ants, but nothing compared to what we were expecting.

The staff were all really friendly. Graham and Nicky were both welcoming, as were the locals who worked there. The entertainment in the evening was geared towards children most evenings, but there is plenty to do for adults in the nearby town centre.

There are plenty of sunbeds, and the pool is a good size, with a separate baby pool.

We arrived at Aquacanis at 4am. The reception staff were friendly although not speaking much english.

We were told there were steep steps to the complex before we went so that didn't come as a surprise.

The apartment was very clean, only saw 1 cockroach. The maid only came 3 days out of the 7 we stayed.

Graham, who was behind the bar couldn't have been more helpful and friendly.

The food was also good.

Overall, it was a very pleasant complex, the pool was clean and there was plenty of sunbeds for people to use.

Entertainment was provided for those who required it from barbeques to chinese buffet nights which were also good.

This place is rather run down and needs a good spruce up.Many ants sighted around plus cockroaches. The swimming pool was not very inviting due to cleanliness and lack of sunbeds. The location of the Aquacanis not too bad at least you could walk to the main area of Perto Rico which was very nice. Reception was always locked so you could not browse at sightseeing brochers without asking. Graham ,who owned the complex was just a bit too friendly. Loud music until about midnight from a cd player or similar in the bar area.

We thouroughly enjoyed our stay here, the rooms were basic, but on holiday, most of the time is spent outside by the pool. There was plenty of sun loungers and the pool was a good size, even though it never got warm! the location was ideal, a short walk to the shops, resteraunts and beach, and a 2min taxi toi the main centre. Graham and Manuel were brilliant and overall we had a fantastic time!

The brochure stated that the local bus service was available to take you to the beach, this was not so, the beach was a 15 to 20 mins walk away. The only alternative being a taxi!

There was also no welcome pack as stated in the brochure.

The appartments were very worn but were clean.

Some of the guests were very rowdy. After several complaints by other guests the staff and rep still did nothing to rectify this situation.

The food was very basic at the bar, so walk to the centre if you want a good meal. Puerto Rico is a lovely place to visit, but don't choose this complex if you want to be near the centre of the ammenities, as this location is just too far away from the town.

Just returned from these apartments. Overall good the ants are a pain in the rear, no matter what you do you can not get rid of them! Although you can stop the cockroaches getting in by plugging all the plug holes and putting a towel [one of theirs] under the front door. We only saw 2 in our apartment in the 2 weeks we stayed.

One BIG DOWNFALL the holiday broucher doesn't tell you about the time share selling which starts the morning after you arrive. The First Choice holiday rep called all the new guests down to the poolside bar to have the 'welcome' He's professional, going on about trips and excursions etc, then he allows another rep to talk about Anfi Del Mar, a new complex opening up and we can enjoy a day out at this complex FREE and enjoy the imported Barbados sands. THESE ARE TIME SHARES BEWARE. Every where you go in Puerto Rico you are stopped and asked to go to the Anfi Del Mar, you have to be between a certtain age and be in at least 35 hours of employment, and so on.

Some of the maids are very welcoming and friendly. Tony the compare is very good and a great laugh!

PUT YOUR TOWELS OUT EARLY SUN LOVERS, ALL THE SUN LOUNGERS GO BY 9AM.

Overall the Aquacanis is very good. We hired a safety deposit box which is a must and costs 13 euros a week, well worth piece of mind.

Finally one thing I found very funny was the meals you get in some of the resturants, one called Tom and Jerrys, very cheap we said, yes but wait for it the Combo is steak and chicken we heard a lot of banging coming from the kitchen, our meals arrived and my husband was astounded that he couldn't see his steak, we were just about to ask where his steak was and he found it under a chip! People bewarned you don't get what you are expecting for 10 euros for 2 meals.

2002-07-15 - - travelled with first choice

after reading reviews on this accommodation elswhere we decided to go as they seemed ok, after arriving at the aquacans we were deeply disappointed, we were only informed of the steep steps at the entrance of the apartments what they regret to inform you is that it is steep steps to get to any of the apartments as we were on 4th floor you would expect to climb with your baggage at least 80 steps, cleanliness of the apartments is something to be desired with ants crawling all over the tables, sides and beds maid came round twice during our stay and not 5 times a week as brochure stated and then only emptied the bin, reception was left open during the day with cleaner and bar staff running it, no friendliness in them at all. Heard of numerous breakins in the apartments during out stay as well as our bag being stolen while on the beach and when informed first choice rep was informed unless we had the 40 euros to pay for an interrparater there was nothing they could do as it was not there problem, which left us extremely stuk as we had 30 euros between us with three days of holiday left so therefore were unable to make a police report or able to claim on our insurance and no-one willing to help. therefore leaving us extremely out of pocket as we lost video camera, money and other personal belongings, we were told to put it down to experiance by rep and apartment staff other than that the resort of puerto rico is an excellent place to go if looking for a relaxing time or if looking for somewhere to go and have fun, we would definatley return to puerto rico but certainley look at other accommodation and would travel with another tour operator next time as we were not happy with the service we received with first choice.
