The Amari Rincome is a very reasonably priced hotel, located a little way outside of the town, just off the road to Wat Doi Suthep. We stayed in a deluxe room on the 6th floor overlooking the pool, away from the road side of the hotel. A benefit of the deluxe rooms is a 10% discount of food, beverages and other services – a welcome and unexpected bonus. The hotel was exceptionally clean and tidy and the staff particularly helpful and friendly without being over familiar.
To say that we were impressed would be an understatement, from reception and guest services through housekeeping, restaurant and bar staff we found the service to be impeccable.
The hotel has two pools, the main large pool and a smaller enclosed pool near the lobby bar and Italian restaurant. There is a lobby bar, which they have managed to make very cosy (I am not normally a fan of lobby bars as they are normally very impersonal).
There are also two restaurants – an Italian restaurant, open at lunch time and for evening meals and an informal Lanna restaurant, where breakfast is taken, which remains open until 11 or 12pm. The breakfast buffet was extremely good with a full English breakfast available, continental meats, cheeses and croissants, and a selection of Thai and Japanese food. Eggs were cooked freshly to order and there were always god chipolata sausages, bacon, beans and tomatoes available. We found the breakfast buffet compared well with the breakfast buffet at the Landmark in Bangkok. The food on offer in the Lanna was of good quality, both Thai and international dishes.
The hotel was in a rather noisy location, being on the junction of two fairly major roads and the pool area suffered from vehicle noise. It is also on the flight path of the nearby airport and aircraft noise could have been a problem had the airport been busier.
The bedrooms were in the style of most other international hotels, of a good size and comfortably furnished, with a balcony. The carpet was fairly new and the decoration was also in good condition – I would say that it had been redecorated within the last 3 to 6 months. It had all the amenities you would expect, including kettle, tea & coffee, hairdryer, safe, adequate wardrobe space, TV and mini-bar. The bath was rather small, but the shower (over the bath) was more than adequate. Air conditioning was effective and quiet.
Fresh fruit was provided daily and we were welcomed with a selection of savoury snacks and Thai sweetmeats – scrummy!
Tennis was available on their own court, but we did not investigate the facilities in any detail – we were far too busy playing tourist!
There are several Spa facilities and massage available locally (we do like a pampering) and a very good restaurant – the Hong Taew Inn – opposite the hotel.
All in all a very good experience, greatly enhanced by the quality of staff. We met with several other British couples who seem to return year after year – this probably says a lot for the hotel.
