| said: this hotel offers something for everyone .although being at the top of the hill taxis are readily available and very good value .the europa centre is just a stones throw away with plenty of bars, shops and restaurants(reccomend el toro).maid service was every other day,very clean superb balcony views. the lifts are an attraction in themselves i spent a few trips riding up and down in them.there are quite a lot of steps inbetween floors so the lift is a must. the bar and restaurant very good, the all in buffet is very good value for money 10 euro adult 5 kids with something to suit all tastes.swimming pools were a little crowded and sunbeds were scace but it was the main 2 weeks. entertainment was ok, again catering for all tastes and ages

| said: after reading some reviews about the altamar was worried about lifts, but they were ok. appartments were clean, maids came ever two days. the balconies were large great sun traps and lovely views. are friends were next door so that was good. food very good, plenty to choose from. taxis on doorstep or buses. the pools were clean and plenty of sunbeds. only downside was entertainment although the tramps tribute band were very good. the staff were friendly and helpfull.there are steps but we only found these a problem on are leaving day when the lift broke down and we had to drag are cases across to the other lift. i would stay here again so would my husband and friends who came with us

| said: The hotel was spotless the rooms are some what small but the balconies are massive and they all have a great sea veiw and there are sunloungers and a patio set on the balconies if you didn't want to go down to the pool the balconies were great suntraps.
We were half board and the food in the resturant each morning and night was excillent the resturant staff were very frendly and very efficant.
We never really did the entertainment in the evening prefering to walk up the road to the shopping and entertainment center.
We loved this hotel althou the steps were hard going as the lift does not take you to all the floors,the only down side was ariving and having to lug suitcases down a few flights of stairs, we found the lifts clean it is more of a cable car than lift but that seems the same at most of the other hotels that are set in the hill sides.
We are planing to book this hotel again this time next year we had a fab holiday.

| said: when we arrived i was a bit dismayed by being at the top of a very large hill but soon discovered that taxis were parked outside at all times of the day and the fare to puerto rico resort and beach was only 3.50 euros and the fare to amadores beach which is excellent 3euros.the reception is lovely open light and many comfy settees,internet,large television showing films and the bonus..a spar shop, well stocked and not rip off prices.apartments clean and cooking utensils adequate.the balconies are huge with table and chairs sun loungers and washing line,plenty of room to spend a quiet day.the bar is good and the food cheap and good quality especially the set buffet,about 6 euros,eat as much as you like.entaintment ok,light hearted nothing serious and got better with largs drinks.swimming pools good and plenty of sunbeds.the outdoor lift was a source of amusment and you probably have to use it unless super-fit.staff on reception were kind and helpful and bar staff were nice,but by behavior of couple of guests could see why they were quiet until they got to know you.all ranges of ages there,no problems,no noise at night.security guards wander around at night which is reassuring.only visitors we had at night were two lovely tabby cats who knew a sucker when they saw one,namely me.all in great holiday,buses to everywhere from puerto rico.the canarians seem a lot friendlier than the spanish and you will not feel you are beeing fleeced all the time.

| said: Stayed at the Altamar I read the reviews on this hotel before I booked and they were very good, well I was very disappointed, we had to hike our suit cases a long way for a lift then down 4 floors.
The lifts are awful like cable cars and very dirty there are only 2 lifts in the all of the complex, to get to our room we at to go though a allie way which had dirty laundry bins in and rubbish bins, then when we got to the room there was no front door just the patio doors which was very old.
The apartments had no air con only ceiling fans which made a awful noise, the apartment was very dated and the walls were dirty, could have done with a good revamp,dont get jour sheets dirty because they don’t change then, and also they only come in twice in the week with clean towels and to clean your room. Didn't stay there just sleep.

| said: Just got back from a week at the Altamar.One of the best holidays we've ever had.Didn,t want it to end.Apartments are spotless.No creepy crawlies.Staff are very friendly and helpfull.We went self catering but ate in the Restaurant nearly all the time because the food was so good.Chef deserves a medal.Will definately go back and next time we will go half Board.Rooms cleaned and towels changed regularly.The views from the apartments are great.All are sea view.Everyone we spoke to couldn,t praise it enough.The only thing the odd person said was about waiting for the lift.We didn,t find it a problem and you only had to wait a couple of minutes.In prospective i think maybe people just don,t have any patience any more.Why rush? you're on holiday!

Aswell as myself my daughter loved every second of it.
This time it was our 5th time round at the same appartments.
The appartments were very clean and the maids were really friendly.We were self catering but some nights we ate at the appartments and it was GORGEOUS.
The staff and eveyone is very friendly Carloss especially!! happy hour and bingo was exalant as my daughter was happy playing a little game of bingo !
We were quit central and we found that nearly everthing was quite near us.Great Location and the uropa and the comertial centre was amazing x
Entertainment was very well done loved it .
We Would defenaly go back...infact my daughter it 13 next year so i'v booked a surprise holiday to come back in may with her best mate.
p.s weather is always amazing extra hot this year great tan !!!!!!!!! THANK-YOU JMC AND THE ALTAMAR APPARTMENTS

| said: Excellent selection of food at breakfast & evening meal times. choices of two types of fish & atleast 3 meats every night. Plenty of fresh veg & fruit. All areas of the hotel are spotless, the staff are very friendly. Two pools both with plenty of sunbeds available. Spar shop on site. Lifts tend to have a mind of their own & its hardwork tackling all the steps from level 0 to reception in the sun.
Evening entertainment starts with things for the kids, then ususally a singing act at 10pm for 1 hr, then karaoke till 12pm. Not brilliant for 20-30somethings.All apartments, the restaurant & pools have a great seaview due to its hillside location.
Would definately go back to this hotel again

| said: The hotel was spotlessly clean, and I was very impressed by the courteous staff. The reception staff spoke very good English and were most helpful. The maids did a great job without being intrusive, if someone was in the room they did not disturb them but came back another time. When I called for help with maintenance it was dealt with immediately. The bar and restaurant staff did a great job and were so friendly. The hotel has a Spar shop on site and the Europa Centre with shops, bars and restaurants is only a 10 minute stroll away. To get to the main centre in Puerto Rico you will need to take a taxi, the rank is right outside the hotel. The taxi fare is only 3E which is roughly £2.10. The entertainment is rather repetitive, with Bingo and Karaoke every night. There is also a show provided on most nights for about an hour. There is not much done for young teenagers, but they seem to prefer to make their own entertainment anyway. This is fine if they are outgoing but not great if they are on the shy side. The bar food was very good and reasonably priced - they also provide a take away service. A lovely family holiday - but not one recommended for those who have difficulty walking as the hotel is on a steep incline and relies on a lift to transport residents - but it has been known to break down.

| said: We have stayed with our family at at the altamar appts several times over the last 10 years.
Weather has always been fantastic be it May or Aug with plenty of hot sun and cooling breezes.
Appts are always clean and comfortable although the ones we stayed in after traveling independently could have done with a little refurbishment(jmc have refurbed all of theirs) to us it was worth it when we considered the large amount of money we saved by not booking with jmc.
The entertainment has been consistently good over the years.We have always had a great holiday my daughter says its like coming home and the view from the terraces in her words are priceless but do shop around for best prices and deals as we did.

| said: The hotel was very clean. Could do with more lifts. We stayed in room 107b which was a fab room. Over looking the pool with a large wooden decking. The lift is next to it so you can hear it.
The food was lovely and with plenty of choice.
Hotel location a little far out.
Hotel staff nice Carlos and Martin in resturant very friendly.
Not impressed with the entertainment. Same thing every day Happy Hour and Bingo. Football and Killer Pool. Seemed that it was money required to go in for things, why not make it free and you win a free cocktail. Thought there would have been more for Kids. I know there is a Kids club but with teenages there was nothing for them to do.

| said: Just got back from 2 weeks at the Altamar.
Lovely hotel, set on the top of the hill, approx 10 mins walk from the Europa Centre.
We had a superior room which was well worth the extra. We had two patio doors onto the balcony, one from the living area and one from the bedroom, both of these had very good ceiling fans and kept us cool at night. There was a kettle, filter coffee machine, toaster, microwave, twin ceramic hob and large fridge freezer. There was a large shower cubicle in the bathroom.
The rooms were clean and the maid came every day except sunday (more than to the normal rooms I think). They make the beds, and wash the dishes. The rooms had a very large balcony with two sunbeds, a table and four chairs, a parasol and a clothes airer. There is a large wardrobe and a safe in the bedroom.
There is a very good Spar shop upstairs in reception and a large Netto up at the Europe centre. The hotel reception is on the top floor 9level 6) and the rooms are all set below. There are two lifts. There are two pools on level 3 which were clean and had plenty of sunbeds.
We didnt go down to the restaurant or see any of the entertainment at night but it is pretty noisy until 12.30. There is daytime entertainment - i.e. bingo, water polo etc which was very popular. We found everything we needed at the altamar,the staff were helpful, and it was clean and spacious.
Its a short taxi ride to the beach, the restaurants and shops are within easy walking distance, and the main resort centre is a 10 minute taxi ride away.
Definately recommended.

| said: We had very high hopes about the Altamar after reading all the other reviews on the site and I must say upon arrival the reception area did look very good. Unfortunately the same could not be said for the room we were allocated, it had no ceiling fans or any other means of air conditioning, the fridge wasnt working properly and the whole room needed a major clean and revamp.
We went to see our rep the next day and the hotel management told us that we had been allocated one of a few rooms which were not yet updated to the same standards as the rest of the apartments. They offered to give us another room the next day with ceiling fans . This apartment was much better, it had more space , was a lot more modern and a lot cleaner , its only fault was that it was at the very bottom of the complex(which is terraced into a hillside) and overlooked waste ground. This may also have been the reason that our apartment was frequently visted by massive cockcroaches!!
On a brighter note the pools were nice, the entertainment crew did a good job, the acts at the evening entertainment were very good and they have a wonderful childrens club. The Altamar is quite a bit away from the main shopping area but there is a taxi stand just outside. The Europa centre is a bit dismal.
Puerto Mogan market which is held on a friday is well worth a vist, it works out at only 1.50c per person if you take the local bus . Aqualand in Maspalomas was also good.

We stayed in room 84 a which was on floor two.
Altamar apartments feature:terrace solarium,daytime and evening entertainment, children`s playground and playroom, games room, billiards, basketball, mini football, internet facilities, 24 hour reception, currency exchange, luggage room,supermarket, laundry, parking(certain activities may be payable locally)
As soon as we got to Altamar we checked in at the reception, got our key to the apartment and an electric card, then went down the lift to our room.
The lift is very useful when you've got children even though it would have done me some exercise running up and down the steps.
The apartments are basic and are worth the money which I paid. The one bedroom apartment which I stayed in had-two beds with a bedside light and table with a fan in the bedroom as well as in the kitchen/living area, in the bathroom there was: shower, toilet, bidet, mop and broom behind the door, sink, plenty of towels for our stay and also every time the maid was to come she supplied toilet rolls! In the Kitchen/ living area was: Freezer, fridge, microwave, table with four chairs, cupboards with-plates, bowls, cups, saucepans and dustpan and brush and a bin. In the living area was: Pay as you go television, Sofa with a pull out bed underneath it, cupboards and a lamp.
The balconies are suitable sizes, which have: two sun loungers, table with four chairs and a clothes horse.The views from the balconies was beautiful!
In the reception there is a spar shop, games room(not in use at the moment) toilets, a chair which massages you for 2 euros, five computers with internet access, microphones and webcams to use which is 1 euro for twenty minutes.

The apartments had fantasic views, very clean, the maids cleaned the rooms very well & even washed & put away the pots for you & folded any cloths you left on the beds.
The pool areas were also clean & well looked after, with plenty of sunbeds.We had a couple of meals at the hotel & it was quite good. The staff were all very nice polite & helpfull.
The location was fine taxis are dirt cheap only 3euros to the beach.
Entertainment was fine those reps work realy hard.

The location was great even the taxi's were cheap if you didn't want to walk. The staff on reception spoke very good English.
The waiters very friendly the entertainment team great so was the shows, the lifts broke twice but was mended right away, we was on 0 floor was tiring to walk up as reception was on 6 floor but as it was only a couple of times not to bad.
You have ceiling fans in the livinig area and the bedroom its a shame they dont have air conditioning as it was in the 30's and very warm at night, but overall we enjoyed it very much have booked for next year for 2 weeks and taking another 3 families with us.
Well done Altamar you have done yourself proud.

| said: This place was great for families. Very clean rooms, great buffet food and in a good location being so close to the Europa centre which has loads of shops, restaurants and pubs. Also only 3 euros in a taxi down into Puerto Rico centre and theres no shortage of taxi's at the entrance to the hotel.

| said: Fantastic hotel 1st time we had been to Gran Canaria everyone said it was very hilly. The Altamar is in the best place a short stroll to shops family bars & restaurants or taxi ride down to Puerto Rico about 3 euros. You can even walk down a slight hill to amadores beach (looks like a caribbean beach, beautiful) we had no problem and we had a pushchair, from here you can walk along a sea front walkway to Puerto Rico.
We met people in the local bars who had got a taxi up because it was better than down in the centre. The pools are great loads of sun loungers, clean toilets etc. The food is fantastic especially the deserts!!
We will definitely be back to stay here.

There are 2 large pools, loads of sunbeds a pool bar, great entertainnment Including Big Gazza and tall paul, Loads of shows in teh evening such as Parrot shows, Singers (Lionell Richie was the best)Jugglers and loads more.
JMC Staff were great, Dan looked after us all holiday and made us feel really welcome.
The Boat trips are great inc whale of a day, booked through JMC, Party night was great inc a free bar(we didnt feel there was any alcohol in the drinks).
We didnt have any probs in our room with cockroaches, but we did see them around, and a couple next door had a few, but were sorted by reception sending someone round straught away.
The food was absolutely great, loads of choice, friends we met were vegetarian and the chef made them disheseven thouhg they paid for the buffet.
I will deffo be returning, great vakue for money and location was good, a lovely setting, all you see from your room is the sea.

| said: This was our second stay at the Altamar Apartments, the first time was just the two of us 18 month ago. We both loved the hotel, the rooms were extremely clean with very good room service.
The food was excellent with all different types of menu ranging from basic English dishes to self service buffet(which was different every night and very good) to specialities.
The location of the hotel was at the top of the hill with breathtaking views over the bay, access to the apartments are via steps(you have to be fit) or via two useful lifts.
Taxis are available right outside the hotel 24hours a day to take you to the centre of Puerto Rico which are only a couple of euros per trip, but there is also the Europa centre with plenty of bars and restaurants a few minutes away from the hotel.
The Hotel staff were excellent polite and very friendly, nothing was two much trouble. The entertainment along with the staff is the reason we came back the second time, but this time with our two children.
We knew our children would be entertained at the kids club (which was excellent) during the day and by the entertainment at the restaurant in the evening, not to mention keeping the parents entertained through out the day and night.
We are visiting the apartments again in September this year and would highly recommend the apartments to anyone.

| said: We took a late deal holiday to the Altamar and were pleasantly surprised. The apartment was adequate for our needs although air-conditioning instead of ceiling fans would have made our stay a bit more comfortable. The view from our large patio was outstanding.
As the apartments are built into a hill there were a number of steps from our floor (1) to reception/shops/exit to road (6). There are 2 lifts but the one on our side of the complex was out of action quite a lot.
The apartment was cleaned 3 times during our weeks stay and the maids even did our washing-up.
Overall an enjoyable holiday.

| said: We have just got back from the Altamar, we booked a late deal and I,m afraid to say the I was very disappointed with this holiday.
The general claenliness of the place was bad and I found some of the staffs attitude very bad. I have stayed in several 3* accomadations and we take two holidays a year but I thought the 3* rating was too generous for these appartments.
After 3 days I enquired as to when our sheets would be changed and was told that they werent as we were only there for a week. I was on my way to reception when my hand got caught in the lift doors and was bleeding when I told the person at reception whilst standing there with blood dripping down my hand he shruuged his shoulders and said "what you want me to do" I was not even offered a plaster.
The only good things I can say about this place was the views were great and Gazza the entertainment guy was very amusing and great with the kids. The rooms are very hot as there is no air conditioning and the ceiling fans just dont quite do the job. On all the holidays I have been on I have never had to pay for use of a kettle in the room, but they seem to want to rent everything out to you at an extra charge including high chairs and sun loungers at the pool.
We had problems with ants and cockroaches in our apartment. There are two pools but only one has music and poolside bar as the other poolside bar was closed permanently and the speaker did not work around that pool either, they actually decided to start maintenance on the closed bar and we had to endure a few hours of drilling whilst sitting round the pool.
I am afraid to say that I would not return to this location or recommend it to friends, back to Cyprus for us next year where we know that we will be treated very well and have very clean surroundings as the maids come every day regardless of how long your stay is.

| said: The Altamar is at the top of the hill but gives excellent views of the bay.
It is within easy walking distance to the Europa Centre were you can get a good choice of various foods from steak to chinese.
They have just finished refurbishing the apartments and are all very nice condition, few teething problems but very quickly sorted out.

The cleanliness of the place is excellent, the staff are so friendly and accomodating.
The location is breath taking. The staff is second to none. The entertainment is marvellous as it accomodates every age rating.

| said: The apartments were great, there are 8 floors we were on floor 6 which if you can choose I would say its the best floor, its in the middle as is 2 floors upto reception and 2 floors down to the pool.
The apartments are lovely and were cleaned 3 times during the week. There are 2 pools which are both quite large.
A restaurant which even as a chef I couldn't fault the food (I did go self catering but did eat a few meals in the restaurant as they have a decent range of food).
The good news is everyone spoke perfect English and there are 2 reps on site (adam and vicky) and 2 in the entertainment team (stretch and gazza).
There is plenty going on in the day with pool competitons, water polo, football and even bingo (for quite high money I didnt play but someone won around 1500 euros why I was there) so theres plenty to do just on the complex.
There is a Spar shop on the complex which I found cheap enough and you can change you travellers cheques and currency in the reception.
Theres plenty to do outside the complex too as it is a 2 minute walk to a huge complex full of shops, restaurants, arcades, mini golf, tennis etc etc etc.
There is a beach 5 mins away and you can go practically anywhere in puerto rico for a couple of euros in a taxi day or night.
Do go on the trips the reps offer you they are loads of fun especially soiux city one its a great place!!
Thats about all really the place is brilliant and I will definately visit again in the not so distant future.

| said: We went to the Altamar 5 years ago, as a family of 4. We booked and went the following year with in-laws. We raved how good it was that we went with 3 other families in 2005, and they agreed it was one of their best holidays.
The food was excellent, plenty of choice.
The staff were very pleasant and over the 2 weeks we were there, the children were 'high fiving' the waiters!'
The views were fabulous. We liked the location, as we never hire a car on holiday, so we sauntered everywhere.
I'm on web now to book for this year!!

The Spanish staff have always been good, reps not too bad!!

Location great, Europa centre great for kids, wonderful views. Terrace superb.
Not bothered about entertainment as we go out most nights, but seems ok, my son who is ten won't go anywhere else for his hols.
Fully booked last year and we ended up at the eden(behind the europa)never again. Spent most days at the Altamar!!!!!

New fully equipted kitchen and fridge freezer. Food from restaurant excellent half roast chicken with salad and chips just over 4 euros drinks good prices.
4 minute walk to Europa centre for shopping bars and steak houses also one bar that stays open till 230am for food located on top of hill, excellent views.
Easy to walk down to Amadores beach but good idea to get taxi back at just over 2 euros. Hotel staff very helpful speak very good english. Gazza and stretch entertainment team. Full entertainment program in afternoon and evening with guest acts.
Building work thats been going on since April and over our stay did not interfere with our holiday at all. We heard drilling and banging in the morning but nothing from early afternoon.
Stayed at the Altamar may 2004 year and plan to return same time next year

| said: We had been told a couple of weeks before we went that minor work was going on, it was a bit more than that but it did not affect our enjoyment at all.
Rooms are good, we had a double sized terrace which was great for the kids.
We did not eat in hotel.
Entertainment staff including Gazza, Stretch and the JMC clubworld girls were amazing, and some of the acts Blues Brothers, Abba tribute and the jugglers were great.
Will visit again.

We were in room 120...which is on the 5th floor (I think!!) - we used the lift immediately after you leave reception to get there.
The lifts themselves are a bit ricketty, and not much use if more than 5 people get in them - or, as we often encountered, if the cleaning staff decide to completely fill them with their gear!
The apartments are basic, but not bad for the money. There's no air conditioning, and they get really hot in September!! You can hire a fan for 15 Euros, and you also have to pay to hire a kettle & safety deposit box. I can't remember how much, but you do get a deposit refunded on return. The tv's are also pay as you use, around 1 Euro per hour...and you can get BBC Northern Ireland (??) but after about 8pm, the reception gets a bit dodgy!!
The balconies are big, and have a table, 3 chairs, 2 sunbed loungers & clothes horse, though the balconies aren't entirely private, and can be accessed easily by anyone. I must say, no one strayed onto our balcony whilst we were there! We had a decent view of the sea, and of the other hotels in the area, and we looked down to the pool area that's next to the restaurant/entertainment area. The hotel has 2 pools.
The reception is 'interesting'...all wicker furniture and plants. It's all open plan, and there's a Spar supermarket (not cheap!) and internet area (3 PC's - 15 mins use for 1 Euro). Be warned - there's often a queue for use!
To get out of the complex, you have to either climb stairs, or there is a ramp. At the top, just over the road, there's a taxi rank, that's more or less always got a taxi ready & waiting, and for 3 Euros into Puerto, it's worth it! Just a bit further away on the same side of the Altamar is a bus stop - I think it's 1 Euro down to the town.
The Europa shopping centre/bars is about a 10 minute walk away, and looks like it could get quite lively on an evening. There's 3 Nettos there, loads of restaurants, shops and a booking office to book your trips through. They are a bit cheaper than booking through the JMC reps.
My one major 'gripe' though, was the entertainment. You have no choice but to listen to the DJ....in the afternoons, and between 9.30pm - 12.30am every night!! We were self catering, and liked to eat out on our spacious balcony each evening, as we spent the days away from the apartment. In the end, we sat in the hot apartment as the DJ has his speakers inside the restaurant (fair enough) - AND outside at the same volume! Even people we spoke to who stayed next door at the Blue Star complained about the noise. The DJ himself was really good - and very professional, but the noise ruined our evenings. I joked on the last night that I hoped he'd lose his voice....and the next day, he was silent as he had indeed lost his voice!!!!
Despite that moan, the entertainment team seem to work their socks off, having a 2 week rotation of acts/discos & bingo in the afternoons, with prizes of around 150 Euros.
The JMC reps have an office up in reception just near the entrance, but they're not always around, as I found when I needed their help when I broke my wrist on the last day of my holiday (I still have the cast on for another 3 weeks!!!).
All in all, the Altamar isn't a bad place....though I prefer Tenerife!!!

| said: This was my first visit to this hotel, we loved it. Beautiful views, really, really lovey pools, palm trees over hanging. Entertainment was brilliant especially for kids. Gazza the entertainment organiszer was brilliant. Great with kids, great laugh. Stayed on complex mostly, did not want to venture out, everything was in hotel. Staff really friendly and helpful, spoke english, which helped.
Got to hold on tight in lifts as this was a cable car, as hotel on cliff side. very different.
Taxis very cheap into town, or you can walk, 30 mins. Lots of steps to beach. alright to walk down but not back up, caught a taxi back a couple of times.
otherwise, a brillant holiday, did not want to come home, will be going back, soon!

| said: We booked our holiday at the last minute and had allocation on arrival and what can I say the hotel was excellent we couldnt of asked for a better place. Gazza and his team were excellent and a good laugh as were the JMC reps.
We ate out most of the time down at the comercial centre as taxis were really cheap to get about and there were loads of great places to eat down there.
We went on whale of a day which was great fun got to go on the banana boat etc and Aqua sur is a definate must if you like water rides but remember to take some flip flops to wear around aqua sur as the floor can be a bit rough.
Both pools at the altamar are excellent and would recommend staying there to anyone, so much so we are going back there in two days time (06.08.05) for another two weeks but this time B&B basis as the breakfasts were excellent. But we still wanted to get out in the evening for meals so we are very pleased you can go B&B and not half board.

| said: I have been to the Altama 4 times and each time I have had a very pleasant stay.
We were half board. Breakfast is a buffet style which consisted from cornflakes right to bacon and eggs, ham and cheese and also fruit. Evening meal were also good with a number of starters, main course and sweets, again all buffet style. You would have to be a really fussy eater not to enjoy the choices.
Hotel staff very pleasant indeed they can't do enough for you. The apartments are very clean, the ceiling fans are a godsend. Not too far way from 2 commercial centres, 1 within walking distance the other just a quick taxi ride away.
We had a great time and I will return once again.

We asked for the bottom floor thinking we wouldnt need to climb the stairs each night....we were mistaken,ask for a high floor as reception is at the top, the lifts were mint it was like a rollercaoster.

| said: We stayed at the Altamar on a half board basis, the food wasn't too bad, but we didn't find it that appealing either. Some nights for dinner were better than others, breakfast was the same everyday which was fine.
The hotel itself was really clean, although we only had our room cleaned once during the week, but seen as we didn't spend much time in our room as we were half board, this wasn't as bad as it sounds!
The hotel is in a really good location, a view of the sea from the balcony, not noisy either. Only a five minute walk to the commercial centre up the road with bars, shops and restaurants. There is another commercial centre about 20 min walk away i'd say, but we didnt venture that far as were happy at the local one really.
All staff seemed pleasant, they all spoke English so wasn't a problem if we needed anything. Lots of entertainment on at the hotel, happy hour late afternoon, and a show on every night. We didnt really see any of the shows as we didn't tend to go to the hotel bar at night much, only a few times for last orders, although we did see the end of the hypnotist act one night which seemed quite good.

| said: Our hotel was in a nice area, not too close to the activities to be noisy, but not too far away either.
Our rooms were cleaned every other day or every day I can't quite remember! But they did a good job even cleaned the tiles on the balcony (Which was a very good size)
Pools were nice and clean, one small and one was bigger, lots of sun loungers.
Entertainment not bad, had a parrot show which was very good; they take pictures of you holding the parrots for about 15 euros.

| said: As I was holidaying with my family I found there to be plenty of activities for all of us, and every age of child is catered for. The food is excellant value for money and the staff genuinely want you to enjoy yourself. If I were to travel as a single man with the lads or what have you, I think it could be a bit slow in the evening, as most entertainment centred around one stage which is obviously rationed between acts. The scenery and views are breath taking, and we particularly enjoyed Amadores beech. Peurto Rico itself is very basic and benign but rarely did we venture outside the complex or beech area, as the kids had everything they needed on site. Although spotless the appartments are very basic which just served as a n incentive to get out more.

This was our 4th time staying at the Altamar which we are going back to this year.
As a family we love it the staff is very friendly and the rooms are spotless, getting cleaned every 2 days. We went on a self catering holiday this year, but the first time at the Altamar we were half board, the food was excellent with loads of choices to pick from at the al la carte buffet kids loved it, you could eat as much as you wanted.
The regular entertainment staff Gazza, tall Paul were brilliant with loads to do even in the afternoon such as pool competitions, water polo etc, which kept the kids busy.
Where the Altamar is located you are a short stroll from the Europa centre which has loads of bars and shops or outside the apartments you have regular taxi to take you to the commercial centre which will cost you about 3 euros, Great.

| said: When we arrived i found the rooms very basic but as we found out we only returned to sleep or get changed.The food was a buffet but it was very good,and the kids loved the kids clubs for upto 2 hrs twice a day and sometimes with evening spooky story sessions.the staff were really friendly and the evening entertainment was fun.Considering how cheap this holiday it was really great and we would go again.
Only thing i didnt like was the cockroaches but you see thease all over the place anyway.

Great entertainment, happy hour in the afternoon so didn't spend too much. Great view of the sea from the pool area!Lost about a stone in weight after all the walking from the bottom of Puerto Rico to the top! Doctors surgery close by (relief!) managed to get a new coin tube so really impressed! Apartments clean! Would have preferred to be located on a higher floor to take in the gorgeous views! So request a high floor guys!
Would recommend this place for couples families who want a no frills clean friendly environment who like spending time around the pool, because there are two!

Try and go on some of the trips they are great fun especially Bar Crawl in Playa Del Ingels and the Catamaran ride!
