Just got back from this hotel on 24-5-2008.

I would say the hotel is excellant for familys. There is slight hill if you venture off the complex.

In the room you will find a kettle, a little two ring cooker and a grill there is also a fridge(for the beer!!).
I could never get any hot water though.

There is nightly entertainment starting at 9pm, and bingo every night from 7.30pm. They also show every
football game, (which i was'nt intrested in to be honest).

There are 2 pools.
Be careful of the pools though as they are both over 1.5 metres deep(about 5 feet). There is a little spash pool babies. You will also find inflatables by the pool that guests have left for others to use.

The food was excellant ranging from soup, burgers, steaks, to kebabs.

There is also a games room, a shop on site that sells essentials, there is also a souvenier shop and turkish baths.

Got a cheap deal to these apartments and thought we would try them out. This was also our first time to Turkey . Apartment we were given was immense so if you get the chance to upgrade to a two bedroom then go for it . Another tip would be to try and get a room overlooking the pool not so you can look at the pool but you get a view right across Marmaris . The staff were all very friendly and very helpful . As mentioned in other reviews you are on a sharp incline and you are at the back of the town but the Dlomus drivers are all very accomodating and they will drop you off at the bottom of the hill . The Dolmus are great and you can very quickly get from the apartments to the front if you want more lively nightlife . All in all a brilliant holiday aided by a great apartment and great staff.

I stayed at the lunamar app sept this year for 2 weeks with my husband and 4 children aged between 3 and 16 and we all had a great time, there is 2 good sized pools, large appartments, lovely view, good thing about being up a hill, it is a steep hill, hard work pushing a buggy, but to be honest it was,nt the hill that bothered me, it was the noise at night,we enjoyed the evening entertainment, the music stops at midnight but the bar don't close till the last person leaves, now some might like this but i did,nt you got no sleep till after 3am i was knackered, i complained to staff but they were not very helpful, but it was queiter the 2nd week this is the only reason i would'nt stay there again, if you don,t mind noise then this is a great place to stay could,nt fault anything else. marmaris it self was really good kids loved it we would go back. p.s carol,s the best place to eat very good english breakfast.

The Lunamar is a couple of miles fom the main area of marmaris in an area called Armutulan. In this area there are a few bars and resturants and supermarkets and also a bus station to get a dolmus into marmaris.

The hotel is clean and in our 4-6 people room we had loads of living space, a kitchen with fridge, kettle, grill thing and forks, plates etc. One room had two singles and the other was a double.

The bathroom had a shower in it, good, clean and powerful. The balcony was large and overlooked the pool (room 2201) and in the distance you can see the mosque, mountains and the sea.

The staff were so friendly and for my first time to Turkey I would say friendlier and more accomodating than greek and spanish. Entertainment every night and a different show, with bingo every night from 7. Regular visits from our friendly rep, who sold us a bar crawl for £5.

They have a fitness suite, with weights and a running machine but I would hardly call it a gym. A souvineer shop on site and internet avail for 5lira (£2) for one hour. They sold me a turkish bath, facial and aromatherpy massage for £20, well worth the money and all available on site. They also do hair, shaving, manicure, pedicure and lots more for good price.

Two pools, the children tended to use the smaller pool and the long pool used by the adults as it is all one level and I could only just touch the floor. I could rave about the place all day but I think you can tell I highly recommend the Lunamar.

A bit out of the way but still a beautiful location, rooms big and very clean.

Suitcases were taken to our rooms but they did wait for a tip though, two pools which open at 8am and close at 6pm for cleaning and so the restaurant can get into swing entertainment good not brilliant but good. The belly dancers like the middle aged man with a bit of meat on them, kids loved it.

Beds around pool go very quick to say 7am I went down with towels no beds left so get up early food nice and cheap, and you wont need an alarm clock there’s the donkey up the hill had a great holiday lots to do oh try the Turkish bath you will be pleasantly surprised.

Arrived 14 July 2006, while on coach approaching hotel (up big hill) we said to each other we feel sorry for poor buggers who have to walk up here! Lo and behold them poor buggers were us. Porter approached us straight away to carry our bags and wouldn't take no for an answer, then waited for a tip.

Hotel was very clean and maids did excellent job, especially on next to last day when they went overboard with rose petals on bed etc, I wonder why?

Pool was very clean.

THE BAR: very expensive - wine £2 for a very little glass, beer was £1.50 for Tuborg (didn't sell Efes) husband said it was awful, however elsewhere the tuborg was a lot better.

FOOD - average for a bar snack but not exceptional quality especially at night where you could get a lot better in town and a lot cheaper. RESTAURANT - (bar and restaurant incorporated), if you like flies this is for you, all day and night they were everywhere, on you, on tables, on drinks, on cutlery (staff set tables with cutlery at about 3pm, which I did not think hygienic as flies were on them till people sat down a lot later and had to use them uck!). Flies were all round pool area again on you, beds, grass. We thought as it was a major problem staff would go round with insecticide but they didn't.

STAFF - bar staff especially boss ones very rude and only interested in quickly serving young women (reminded us of them flies!!).

LOCATION - 10 min ride from marmaris and the hill to walk up was awful it was worst hill I have ever seen (beats Los Cristianos cardiac hill). It got quite expensive as dolmus into town in day/back and then at night/back was 24 lira a day (for 4 of us), taxi was 20 - 25 lira each way. Hotel operates free bus once at 11am into town, 11.30am back, then again into town at 11pm, 11.30pm back. Didn't think operated enough but then they are not stupid if you couldn't walk up everest mountain you were captive audience.

Air conditioning was approx £60 for 2 weeks but you can only have it on when in room as key fob for electricity operates it, again what use is that it takes at least 2 hours to cool down when you come in, also key welded on to fob to stop you taking key off.

As mentioned in previous report Carol's down hill was very good but after a couple of times they recognise you when going past and shout to you and you feel guilty when trying somewhere else. Barber's next to Carol's excellent, very friendly guy and his wife, did hair braiding, shaves, nails, everything and a lot cheaper than hotel and town.

The staff at hotels spa/beauty hounded you round the pool/bar for first week giving you leaflet after leaflet, telling you, you needed treatments, all this while they sat on your sun bed (pushy).

While at bar/restaurant watch your bill, we paid our bill then they came up to us about 1 hour later saying we had not paid, other guests bills were on ours which they hadn't paid, this happened several times.

Finally the donkey - it lives in the hills and does not sleep, especially at night I have never heard a donkey make so much noise, we had to close windows but even then we heard it.

Would I go to Lunamar again - no chance, too far out, and all above reasons.

would certinley recommend the hotel, it is clean and very friendly, the only reservations we had with the hotel was the measures with all the drinks, it would cost a fortune for ladies drinking nips or liqures all night, compared to drinking outside the hotel

the only drawback would be it is up a very steep hill once you get off the dolma bus, food in the area is very cheap a full english breakfast ranges from 3 lira ( in shara"s fun pub & restaurant, not that far from hotel to walk) to carols just outside hotel where you get dolma bus, this is where we would recommend we only went the last 2 days and regretted not going thier earlier, you can have free use of the pool all day and night, and you get buy one get one free at night, the lady is welsh and very nice

we were in kusadasi in may this year, but you can half all your drink prices in maramis

another restaurant where the food was good is Haci"s, its not far from the hotel, also if you are thinking of a boat trip go to Haci"s to book it

through his recomendation we went on the boat Acupulco it is very clean dinner and all drinks is inclded in the £10 price you can book it in his restaraunt, other guests in our hotel were getting ripped off getting told all drinks were included when they were not,

also i booked in the hotel for my wife to get the full ladies treatment, nails etc, but we found out a guy next door to carols does it for half the price of the hotel
the dorma bus is on untill 1am, its 1 lira to town

and you only get 1 loo roll per vist in hotel, but we found out a lot of places are like that, also take an mp3 player with speakers or a cheap small cd player, as we had no tv in room

I have stayed at the Lunamar 3 times this being the last, its a very nice place to be the staff are very nice and easy going.

The cleaners were very good, how ever we had a few things seem to go missing out of our room. When we told our rep from Thomas Cook,he said I had to go to the police station on my own (I had just got out of hospital with cancer and had a baby with me) or there was nothing I could do, which I didnt think was fair.

The intertainment was good if you are a bingo person, eyes down every night at 7.and a few other things. They did have the best breakdancers do a show there.

Apart from the missing stuff I had a lovely time. Oh, you also need to be steady on your feet as it a long way up a hill.
