| said: Well, I have just only recently just got back back from the Riu Palace Las Americas & it was amazing a 5* hotel!
You could also use the facilities next door at the Riu Cancun (but they can't use yours hehe!) they have a disco till 2am & a sports bar 24hrs!
But the Riu Las America's is brill, very classy! there is 5 a la carte restaurants & 1 buffet. The a la carte are Japanese, Brazilian, gourmet, Spanish & steakhouse! I preferred the Spanish mmmmm! You do have to book the day before between 5-6pm.
The rooms are gorgeous, over looking the sea with the big balcony (Room 729). They have two big double beds, settee, huge bathroom! The only thing is when the air conditioning is, on close the balcony door, as there is condensation & is very slippy!
In the room you have a mini bar re-stocked every 2days with beer, mixers(7-up, Pepsi)& water, also optics in your room, whisky, bacardi, brandy & Smirnoff vodka! (restocked 2 days too!
The staff here are excellent!!!! The entertainment is good, especially the Michael Jackson show on a Monday night! Really good!
The beach is gorgeous too!!!
The bar staff are excellent, there is a bar outside the Japanese restaurant called Rafoldo (he is so funny!!!!) & there is a very sexy barman in the Arte Deco (lobby bar) called David, he is excellent as well!
We only went for 7 Nights, but everything was absolutely spot on!

| said: I echo everything that has been said above. Acosta was one of our favourite waiters too.
We spent most of our time round the party pool and was highly entertained by the animation team, they work so hard, but were not at all pushy if you just wanted to watch.
This hotel and the staff were all first class and if I had to complain about anything it would be certain guests not knowing how to close their room doors quietly!! This was only a tiny niggle and the hotel would have do something about it if we had said anything.
I can't wait to go back.
We saw a couple of weddings while there (one was an Irish couple on 4th July I think) and the co ordinator certainly looked like she was doing a good job.

| said: FANTASTIC
This hotel would be very hard to beat, not only the rooms and facilities but also the staff.
We have stayed in many Riu hotels and this one tops the lot it is also our second time here which also helps.
There was 13 of us stayed at this hotel as our daughter got married here. If anybody reading this is contemplating doing the same I would advise you to deal direct with Riu with the wedding coordinator in the hotel because we paid Thomas Cook double the amount it would have cost us to deal direct with the hotel wedding Rep because all Thomas Cook did was Email the hotel of the date we wanted and Riu did the rest, so be warned.
FOOD
There are loads of restaurants in the hotel and are all part of the A/I deal but to make sure you get a reservation you have to be quick as a lot of people prefer the restaurants to the buffet. Its not difficult all you have to do is ensure that you queue up at the restaurant you wish to eat at, the day before at 17:00 PM then make your reservation. If you want the Japanese (favorite) you needed to be there at 16:30 pm to ensure that a table and time was of your choice.
STAFF
The receptionists can’t do enough to help especially the head receptionist DIANE, who excelled and made our holiday and wedding celebrations absolutely perfect in as much as she could do.
The top waiter in the Buffet was MIGUEL ACOSTA who catered for our every need and knew exactly what our requirements were without having to ask.
One of the restaurant Managers who was also excellent was JULIO CEASAR who like Miguel made sure our meal was perfect in every way.
And finally JERRY in the main bar and MIRIAM in the theatre bar were our favorite bar staff and all deserve a mention.
TRIPS
If you need to do any trips book through the travel agent across the road and to the right as you come out of the hotel on the main rd at the Maya centre it is called Sunrise travel BUT BEWARE! of other ones directly opposite as these are time share operators and your tour will be cut down so as to take you to the timeshare properties.
Lisa was very good at organizing our trips here.
ENTERTAINMENT
The hotel is only about 400 metres to all the night life and Coco Bongos is a much see night club but go with the hotel staff that meet up after the entertainment as they will get you straight in no queuing and usually get you a good position inside and also transport you there for free once again the hotel caters completely for all your needs.
The shows in the evening at the hotel are of a very good standard not your normal hotel rubbish and the kids have a mini disco in the early evening before the adult entertainment.
BEACHES AND POOL AREA
Brilliant the sea and pools are lovely and warm none of this sharp intake of breath it is just a pleasure to get in to the water of either. There is a few salesmen on the beach but are no hassle if you say no they keep walking. Plenty of sunbeds available the large double fixed ones beside the main infinity pool are a favourite and you will have to get up fairly early to claim one of these.
WEATHER
My wife and I have been here in November too and the weather is preferable then sunny every day about 30.c but this holiday was roasting and loads of humidity the temperatures whilst we were there this time were between 32.c and 48.c the latter being for two of the days (so glad for air conditioning).
SUMMARY
The best holiday ever and cant wait to go back again. The flight is a long one but well worth it once you get there you just wont want to leave, if we could have got flights we would have stayed for another week. The General Manager Ramon Urbano deserves a special mention as he ensured that our stay was perfect and it was once again thanks a lot RIU.
