| said: all though the cleanliness was very good with room clean every day except sunday and bedding and towels change regulary. the food was bland with practually same food everyday and the breakfast not too good . we paid half board and ate out every day . the staff on reception were friendly . the greek night turn out to be a disaster we paid 5.00 euros each extra then when we went it was outside in the cold air and the que for food was long and when we try to get some food the other people who had already eaten started going back for seconds so at 9pm we still had not eaten so we got up and went down road to maggies to eat we didn,t get our money back . we are going back to roda in may08 but not to this hotel

Room was a good size and we would recommend this hotel to any one.

| said: I dont think the place should be classed as a hotel, as it doesnt have that "hotel" feel! The general cleanliness of the rooms and the surrounding areas were quite good, but the towels they provided stunk and never seemed clean. The breakfast was awfull, never warm! Consisted of an egg (of some sort) on a peice of bread, with a spoon of beans and a triangular slice of ham and cheese. Along with cold coffee!!!
Due to us being B&B, we had no fridge, so i would advise people to stay S/C somewhere and eat out, as Roda has loads of wonderfull places to eat, no matter what time of the day.

| said: Have just returned from the silver beach hotel and can say that we had an excellent holiday there. The transfer from Corfu airport can be a little manic especially after the rep leaves you to the devices of the driver but we finally arrived!! We were greeted by dimitris who was very friendly. we were No. 36 which was very spacious and extremely clean.
Maid service was every day except Sunday and they did a thorough job (even put my sons soft toys back on his bed!!).
The pool area was kept very clean and tidy and there was none of this "up early nonsense" to book your sunbed. We did end up going to the beach in the second week as it was far too hot to stay at the pool and found it to be sand/shingle but the water was lovely and warm and very shallow so great for the little ones.
I have to mention Matula at the Silver beach. She seemd to be there 24/7 and always smiling and ready to help. Such a lovely lady!!
The resort itself is quite small but we wanted a fairly quiet holiday and the entertainment was there if you wanted it, no clubs though.
All in all Roda itself is, in my opinion, for young families and older couples as it feels very safe. I would definately recommend the Silver beach for a memorable time in Corfu.

The room was very clean and tidy. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
We recommend Silver Beach but if you go book direct to the hotel because is lot cheaper.

| said: We stayed at the Silver Beach from the 4-11 September, overall the accommodation was very clean, the location excellent, the breakfast (forget it its dreadful) visit Maggie's its the best around just across the street.
The hotel staff were very pleasant but please don't rely on receiving early morning calls, I forgot our alarm clock and relied on the hotel service which they forgot to do as a result we missed our trip to Albania.

| said: I and my fiancé have just returned back from Roda........which we loved.
We went at the last minute for 1 week to meet friends who were already there.
We had booked Silver Beach (B&B) over the phone and booked the flights separate, this worked out to be the cheaper option.
Baring in mind we had no idea what the hotel looked like or what we were going to be faced with, all I can say is that we had a great result, we were both very happy. Even though the accommodation was basic (which is normal for Greece) we were more than happy with the how clean it was, it was spacious and airy.
We had our beds made every day (apart from Sunday) and we had clean towels every day, our sheets were changed twice in the week and the floors were cleaned daily too.
We stayed on the top floor. I was told that this floor was newly built and that these rooms were nicer than the other floors, I'm still not sure if this is true so it might be worth asking when you book!
Workers of the hotel were forever cleaning the grounds of the hotel and daily cleaned the surroundings and the inside of the pool.
The only down side was not having a fridge in the room - this did not bother us, but I suppose if you had children or babies you would need it. Opposite the hotel there are a number of shops which sell ice cold drinks, milk cheese, bread etc so we just bought when we needed, the rooms stay cool so it never affected us (I suppose you could ask for a fridge and see what they say?)
The security is good at the hotel, they have security through the night, and the lift is not in use between 2am and 7am for security reasons. You have a safe in your room which you do not have to pay for!!
We tried the hotel breakfast once and because it was noting special we ate mostly at the 'Harbour bar' where they cooked a 'big breakfast' nothing compared to it and we ate there most mornings - sets you up for the day!!!
We had no problems with the hotel apart from a misunderstanding with check out times, and the people seemed friendly enough although we didn’t see them very much.
The pool was small but nice, but we did not use it very much we went to the beach and the hotel 'Theodora’s' swimming pool, which do lovely food and have a great children's pool.
The food in Roda is amazing and very cheap, there’s no point going half board anywhere as is works out more. The best place to eat is a restaurant called Roda Park, we ate there a number of times. Also try out the Chinese this was great too.
Roda is a great place to go from the young to the old, we were with a group of people from babies to grandparents and there is everything for somebody. There is no hustle and bustle in Roda but you can find the lively bars if that’s what you are looking for, we had our fun in the Smileys bar (Fotis is lovely) and the Pirates bar where we had a good few nights of Karaoke.
Having walked around Roda every night there doesn’t seem to be 'wow' looking hotels they are all much of a much and mostly apartments, so if I were to go back again I would not hesitate going back to silver beach, it was clean, friendly, and somewhere to lay your head at a cheap price......
Had a great week in Roda and would return tomorrow if I could, a relaxed, happy, laid back family atmosphere......where nothing is ever a problem.
P.s the taxi drivers are all crazy not just the one you get into!!!!

Staff were friendly and nice bar and pool area.
Rooms were cleaned everyday apart from Sunday, however towels didn't get changed all week and one was taken away mid week, so we had only one between us! also there was no Air conditioning in the room which was quite uncomfortable at times.
I would visit this hotel again but would definitely go self catering. The food was not good and we had to give up on buying family presents as we spent all out money on eating out!!

| said: Thoroughly enjoyed our 10 day holiday at Silver Beach Hotel. The location is excellent.
The hotel is clean and tidy but perhaps in need of some update. The staff were very friendly and made us all feel welcome. The breakfasts were very basic, no cereal or fruit just scrambled eggs, beans, toast and cold meats. Evening meals were OK basic but good.
I understand that the hotel and the whole resort are about 40% down on last year due to Golden Sun collapsing. The hotel lost quite a bit of money and are trying to get back on their feet.
We would definitely go back to the hotel because the staff were so friendly and the location was great.

We felt that the location was excellent as were all the staff, they could not do enough for you. The room was very clean and quite spacious compared to other Hotels we have stayed in on other Greek Islands. We didmake breakfast,and evening meal . The meal we did have was excellent .

This year we got married in acharavi and had our reception in the silver beach restaurant. The food was superb, it was so helpful organising everything we couldn't have done it without her. The whole family are so friendly and helpful and the hotel cannot be faulted - you never feel the need to go anywhere else once you have discovered the silver beach.

Myself mum and son had a fantastic time there as we met loads of other tourists who go back year after year.
We were in the rooms just to the left of the hotel and had wonderful views of the village to one side and the mountains to the other.

Room dirty in particular bathroom toilet was dirty and constant smell of drains.
Beds are the worst we have ever slept in you are basically sleeping on a board and very thin mattress.
Food is not even worth talking about.
Location is the only good thing.
We would not be returning and we recommend people not to use this hotel.

| said: The first impression of our room was that it was basic however on closer inspection it was also found to be filthy!
There were blood stains on the bed sheets, a DISGUSTING toilet bowel, dirty walls, fleas in the blankets (we are now covered in bites) and one of the plugs had sparks comming out when anything was plugged in.
Food - Just don't go there, the bread, which was the only thing half edable was stale. Even the orange juice was, VERY watered down duliting juice and was horrid.
Entertainment was nonexistant. The only night advertised for was a Greek night, and half an hour before it was due to start we were told that it was cancelled, no reason given.
On the plus side it does have a good pool and is in a good location.
However under no circumstances would I ever go there again.

The food was great. The location was perfect, and most of all the staff were the kindest staff ever.
Spiridula, Sandra, Dimitris, Koni they were all lovely.
That was the first time to cortu and were going again next year.
Definatly reccommend this place.

The hotel is a small family run hotel, which is clean and very tidy.
The staff are all very friendly and will help you on any matter.
Our room faced the main road, and was clean and of good size.
Towels were changed every 2th day .We had 14 evening meals at the hotel which were excellent.
Breakfast which was included was excellent.A great location for those with rooms at the front of the hotel.The Pool at the hotel was very nice and the staff at the pool bar very helpful,polite and will always have a chat.we realy enjoy the entertainments

The staff were very helpful and welcoming. It was our first visit out of the UK and did not know whether this was what to expect. It was a very cheap budget holiday.
The room was very basic but clean. It was cleaned every day but Sunday. What spoilt it for us was the hotel Alexandros that was directly below our balcony. The pool had brit pop, loud disco music from 7am right through to 3 am so there was absolutely no peace! You could not shut the door to siesta because of the heat - 39 degrees on some days- to shut out the noise - so we hired a fan. 25 Euros in the hotel for a week, but someone gave us the nudge and we got one from a gift shop across the road for 15 euros, but look around- we found another for 1.5 euros a night later!
The breakfast we looked at once only -then we left and bought outside for 6 euros (for the both of us)- full English/massive bacon sandwiches etc......
Hotel breakfast was rubber scrambled eggs, rubber hot dog sausages, cheese slices and ham, and bread that had the consistency of cake!
If you wanted a sunbed you had to get down to the small pool by 7am and beat the Germans by putting your towel on one to claim it. The sad thing is that for most of the day there was only towels and not people on them.............. The sunbeds at the beach were brilliant.
We would not go back to the Silver Beach- it was not suitable for us - but it was clean and basic and rooms on the other side did not have the noise problem.

| said: On first appearances the Silver Beach looked lovely and I began to think that the apprehension I had previously felt due to reading some reviews about this place was misguided. Was I wrong!!
We paid for a week half board but had to eat out every single day because the food was abysmal. We hired a fan for our room because it was very hot and were charged 25 euros for 7 days. We found out 2 days before we left that a couple in a hotel 2 minutes down the road hired a fan at their hotel for 10 euros for 14 days. When I brought this fact to the attention of our hotel receptionist she magically lost the ability to understand English.
The floor of our room was not cleaned. I spilt talcum powder on the floor 1 day, it was still there 3 days later. The showers in the rooms are tiny. You have to keep turning the water off to soap yourself and shampoo your hair because you can hardly move and the shower tray is extremely shallow so water goes all over the floor.
You are only given 1 thin sheet and 1 pillow per bed so we had to ask for extra bedding. Also, telephone calls are extortionate from the hotel. Three short (3/4 min) calls to UK cost over 21 euros!!
In all, we were extremely disappointed. We went there to have a lovely romantic holiday, we spent all our spending money on food because the hotel food was so awful, so in effect, we paid for all our meals twice!!

| said: The silver beach hotel is both clean and tidy, although it is basic, but then we have been told that all greece is. We only had two hand towels, so i would reccommend to take spare towels. We stayed on a bed & breakfast basis and generally just had toast, as the rest of the breakfast consisted of boiled eggs, hot dog sausages, beans, omelette and tinned peaches. Although, Maggies Bistro does a brilliant full english. The pool area is kept clean and tidy, although you have to be down by about 9:30 to get a good sun bed. All in all I would visit this hotel again, but probably on a room only basis.

The room we were allocated had 2 single beds & a very small bathroom & not much more.
The towels were changed once a week but the maids did come everyday except Sunday to tidy & clean the room.
Avoid the breakfast unless you like hard boiled eggs & hot dog sausages.
The staff were great, very friendly & couldn't do enough to help you.
The hotel is in a good location not too far from the beach & central for all the restaurants & bars etc.

| said: All I can say is the reports we received prior to our arrival at the Silver Beach Hotel fully backed up what we found when we arrived at the Silver Beach(the hotel from hell). After waiting in reception for an hour we were allocated Room 27 and I have to say what we found can only be described as unbelievable. Vomit or urine down the wall, a strong smell of sweat or urine, which I have to say they tried to mask by using gallons of bleach. I went back to reception and we were allocated another room,not much better that the first room by the then the damaged had been done. We checked out and went a superbly run hotel round the corner call the Roda Oasis, our holiday was salvaged for a mere 280 euros. Went to the Golden Sun rep that night not much help other that to get us to complete a customer complaint form which will never reach the UK. On a final note my advice would be avoid the silver beach like the plague as their plently of good clean accomodation locally, which we were promised but never got.

| said: Me and my partner aged 21 and 28 have just returned from the Silver Beach Hotel June 2004 also known as Faulty Towers to some of the locals. We spent one week at the hotel which in all fairness was relatively clean. Our room was cleaned six days out of the week, but we were only given one hand towel each and they were only changed once in the week that we were there, so i would suggest to pack some extra bath towels.
The pool area was quiet with a pool bar for refreshments. The hotel staff were friendly although we did have one of our presents go missing from behind the bar of the hotel.
Our room was very poorly situated it had a chimney of sorts directly outside the balcony which twice a day blew smoke and ash into our room and smelt very unpleasant.

There was a stray dog in the hotel.
The people who worked at the local bars were very friendly that was the only highlight of the holiday.
If you don’t like cruelty to animals do no visit Roda there are dogs chained up all day without any water. One dog that I saw was so scared it was pooing itself.
In the hotel rooms there were cockroaches everywhere. The plumbing was faulty and was leaking everywhere.
If you want a good holiday I would not come here

| said: The pool area was very friendly and relaxed. The rooms were simple but perfectly alright. The hotel was located close to bars and restaurants.
Roda itself is quite a simple resort with enough bars and restaurants to keep you occupied. The beach is OK but a bit gritty sand, but safe for bathing as it shelves very gently so ideal for young children.

| said: I have just come back from my honeymoon at this Hotel, and had a brilliant time, both at the hotel and the resort of Roda itself. The room is quite basic, no T.V, but very clean, with maid service everyday apart from Sundays. I found most of the staff to be very helpful.
The pool area is very clean, with a pool bar close at hand. Although we mainly did our sunbathing on the beach, this was only due to it being too hot to sit around the pool area, you had more of a breeze at the beach, nothing to do with the pool itself.
The food was reasonable, but they do tend to repeat the menu night after night. Breakfast consisted of hot dog sausages, scrambled eggs, beans, toast, tinned fruit, and some bread they had made themselves which was more like cake, o.k. if you like eating cake for breakfast!
Location to beaches and amenities was brilliant, you couldn't have asked for any better. The beach was a 5 minute walk down the road with plenty of bars,restaurants,tavernas,shops etc along the way.
Drinks/Food prices quite reasonable for what you get, although prices not all that much cheaper than ours now that they've changed to the Euro.
All in all a very good holiday, I would definitely go back again, maybe a different time of the year, as July's temperatures were reaching about 36°C, getting into the 40's the week we left.

| said: It was a little noisy with the comings and goings especially with the night time transfers. The hotel itself is purpose built and pleasant enough but i would have prefered a room higher up as the ground floor level in any hotel always invites problems.
Maid service on a daily basis except sunday and room was left clean and tidy as expected.
The food was bland to mediocre and too anglicized for my tastes( i go to greece to eat greek). However the meatballs were wonderful! Breakfasts suited a more germanic guest and the desserts were nothing to write home about.
The pool is great and its in close proximity to all roda's ameneties.
The staff were very helpful especially the night porter(english) who retrieved a hedgehog from the room at 3am!(see what I mean about ground floor rooms)
All in all a good holiday but things could be improved by implementing a better food menu
