The location of the villa is approx 10 minutes drive from the village of Frigiliana near the town of Nerja. A car is essential and one was included in the price, however we upgraded to a slightly bigger car due to our increased luggage requirements. The directions given to us by the Thomson rep at the airport were pretty good but we also took along our TOMTOM (worth every penny, especially when driving around Malaga). Follow the road along from Frigiliana to Torrox and turn left at the restaurant called La Venta, then another 500yds on the left was Cortijo Nazario.

Turning into the villa there is a lovely big driveway which splits the property from the very private pool area.

The pool area was excellent, providing enough space for 4 large sun loungers and a large parasol, table and 4 chairs. A cold shower is also provided here and the water is pretty warm (for the first few minutes anyway!). The pool is small and is the same depth all along at about 1.3m deep and it was perfect for the kids as they are still learning to swim. A net is provided for removing any unwanted bugs and leaves, although there are a few holes in it, and some skill is required to fish stuff out without it passing straight through the net!. The view from here was breath taking, overlooking the village, mountains, Nerja in the distance and then out to sea on the right.

The villa and its balconies were very clean and the Thomson rep who visited the day after our arrival told us the property had just been painted (mainly due to some previous guests having a red wine throwing competition!) There are some large gates covering the driveway which were perfect for us, we just shut and bolted them, then our 4 & 6 year old had the run of the place without too many worries. The villa is probably about 10-15 years old but has been pretty well looked after. The gardens surrounding the villa are well established and add loads more character to the place. The covered terrace, which has a large 6 seater table and a 3 seater swing chair, were where we spent every meal time and evening taking in the stunning views. There is also a built in BBQ building and in it there is a washing machine (came in very handy with my 2 and washed most of the clothes before returning home!)

Inside the interior is dated but clean and well equipped. Satellite (mainly German channels) and a 21" TV, CD/Radio player are also provided in the living area as well as a dated 3 piece suite and coffee table.

This leads to the kitchen area which was well equipped too. A ceramic 4 ring hob, microwave oven, toaster, kettle, good size fridge (room for plenty of beer!) with 1/4 size freezer and plenty of pans and cutlery are provided.

The main bedroom is ensuite with a shower and sink although we couldn’t use this shower due to the hose being split (reported to the Rep see if it gets changed!) The bed was the usual soft springy Spain type (no good if you suffer from bad backs!). The furniture again was dated but functional. The other two bedrooms have 2 single beds in with a wardrobe and bedside cabinets. Between these is the main bathroom with usual facilities including a bath. Be careful of the hot water though, as it gets extremely hot!
