What an excellent place we found here!

We traveled with kids 11 & 10 and they loved it...plenty to do for them both day and night. The entertainment staff were brilliant. Nightly shows again were excellent and didnt want to leave hotel of a night time because of these!Entertainment 10 out of 10.

The cleanliness of the whole site was spotless and was always someone about cleaning. Rooms also were spotless.
Hotel food again was really good and always a good variety which changed daily, along with the other 3 restaurants on the site there was certainly a good variety.

Hotel staff went out of there way to make sure you had a good holiday..always courteous.

We loved the location of this hotel as was nice walk into Playa del Carmen down a really nice area. Could also get a taxi for $5.

You could also use the facilities at nearby Viva Azteca along with the restaurants but we walked thro it one night and it was quite away from our hotel and didnt have the same atmosphere as the hotel we were in.

Also nice as there was a good mixture of nationalities staying there too.

Had a great time at this hotel.

You could always see cleaners about and the toilets were spotless and always stocked with paper products.

The hotel is right on the beach and I have never seen sand so white or sea so clear and blue. There are sandbags off the beach which acts as areef and attracts fish, which you can see clearly whether you snorkel or not.

The staff were very good and work very hard, with activities during the day and the shows at night.

The only real down side to the hotel is the booking system for the other 3 restaurants, you have to go to a desk at reception at 8 in the morning to book, eh dont think so!!! We just ate at the buffet restaurant which was very good and the choice changed daily.

So yes I would recommend the hotel!!

We booked a last minute deal with Thomsons and stayed for a week 19th-26th September our first time in Mexico.

After a long flight we arrived at the hotel very tired but when we saw the hotel was directly on the beach with views of the beautiful turquoise Caribbean sea we soon forgot our tiredness.

The rooms are very basic with no mini bar or fridge and to be honest we found them quite damp after we showered they seemed to hold the condensation even when the patio doors were open. Having said that it didn't spoil our holiday in any way.

We had a ground floor room overlooking the pool and the beach and very handy for the bar, theatre etc.

The weather was gorgeous around 90 degrees every day. We did have quite heavy rain for a couple of hours on the Sunday but once this had cleared the sun was back out and everyone was back sat at the pool. No problems with sunbeds you could find one at any time of day. The beach as well as the pools had plenty.

Food in the buffet restaurant could have been better it seemed that what you had on the first day you had for the rest of your holiday but having said that it was all edible and we did manage to eat in there every day. The entertainment group tried very hard to make a good show, the costumes were excellent and for a 3 star hotel you couldn't complain.

All in all a very good hotel worthy of 3 stars, staff were very friendly, very clean hotel and we would definitely return.

I was at the Viva Wyndham Azteca 2 weeks ago...

Had a great time.

Food was fine and the drinks were always quickly accessed.

Room were adequate and aircon worked really well considering the outside temps were in the 90's.

One small thing that we thought was a bit dodgy was the hotels photographer. He took great pics of the kids with various animals, BUT, I would say some of the poses he had some girls doing would be considered a little "provocative" in England. I am sure he meant no harm, but all those pics that are put on his pc could be a paedophiles dream.

Anyway, back to the hotel. The bamboo restaraunt was excellent though you need to book.

You can use either the Maya or Azteca's facilities and they are just 5 mins apart

This hotel was excellent, we spent Christmas and New Year there and found the entertainment second to none.

The food was superb with a wide choice for every meal, we have all said that we would like to go again just to try the food that we didn't have time for in our 2 week stay.

The staff were extremely friendly and worked relentlessly to make our stay memorable, they even knew both our children's names by mid holiday.

The room was very clean and even the beach was swept each morning, my husband witnessed this on a number of occasions when he was out watching the sunrise.

Considering that the hotel had only recently reopened after hurricane damage we were very impressed. The only downside that we could find was that there were people who attempted to sell you what we can only assume were timeshares, the easy way to stop this is to state that you do not possess a credit card, they seem to leave you alone after this. Other than that, entertainment, food, position, activities, staff and rooms were outstanding.

We are definitely going again and are trying to talk my parents into joining us. Excellent family holiday, the best ever. We felt very secure with our children going for strolls around the complex because of the position of the hotel and also the excellence of the staff.

Although only a 3 star hotel in the brochure it was at least 4 star I think. It was kept very clean. On the beach there is someone collecting empty glasses continually and the beach was cleaned every morning and what a fabulous white beach it was.

There were sand bags arranged about 100 yards off shore which attract lots of small fish which is great for snorkeling especially for a novice such as myself.

The food was very good with lots of fresh fruits available at each meal in the buffet restaurant we only booked for the Mexican restaurant twice during our stay which was OK but not a great variety on the menu so we stuck to the buffet restaurant.

The staff at the bars all seemed very efficient and service was very good, excellent in the Catina bar who when they saw us coming in had our drinks ready for us! The shows that the animation team put on most nights were very good and on the Friday nights after the hotel show there was a folklore show in the lobby which was brilliant.

If you want a change of scenery it was a $5 taxi into Playa Del Carmen where you could also get the ferry across to Cozumel which was nice.
