| said: Do not visit this place! Great location on Patnem Beach which is just around the corner from the much busier Palolem. This is the biggest shack on the beach and looks great; all timber flooring and hammocks etc.
The rooms are in Coco huts at the rear of the shack. Some are on stilts, some on the ground level. About twenty huts. We liked the look of it and negotiated the owner down from 1500 ruppees per night to 1000 ruppess a night for a three night stay.
We didn't really like the owner Ash's manner when he took our money and should have trusted our instincts. The rooms are fine and the majority of the staff friendly enough.
However in Jan/Feb 2006 there were a couple of english girls and dutch lads who have taken the place over and insist on playing loud (very loud) music ALL NIGHT. They were totally obnoxious and we couldn't sleep. The first night we decided it may have been a one off. The second night it was the same. We didn't hang around a third night but friends say they experienced the same later in the month.
The owner really wasn't bothered about his guests and we saw several other really decent folk leaving. It's a real shame since the beach is lovely and even in Palolem the music stops in all the bars at a decent hour.
There are other decent places to stay in Patnem (even the new Bamboo huts next door to this place), run by nice people. This man does not deserve any one's custom. Avoid! (unless you enjoy listening to the best of The Jacksons all night).
