I have been a camper since I was born....6 weeks old and under canvas in cornwall!! at 13 my family discovered spain and a wonderful campsite called benelux, this site is probably the most underdeveloped, basic site i have stayed on, but it s clean and friendly.
12 years later I introduced my own family to the joys of camping in spain..and we had wonderful holidays.
The past 2 years 06 and 07 the weather in spain was 'off' more like blighty and too much rain, my near teenage boys struggled and had nothing to do...nearby we have la fosca a beautiful beach town and a large campsite called 'Kings' - the brochures showed a very equipped site with plenty of things to do for all ages.
So we decided that we would give it a go..if the weather was off, at least the boys would have things to keep them occupied.
Well Kings delivered in all respects except the one which will mean we shall not return....It is very clean, very equipped, the shop is superb and the bar area is very good. The pool is great and the camping areas well laid out. so yes 10/10.
The downside, think belmarsh prison...i know security is paramount, but the over zealous guards who check your passes as if you are category A...a ridiculous charging policy of 6 euros per person if you were to invite friends over to see you...(hi come over for a drink at ours tonight...it will only cost you £20!!!)
and a zero tolerance restriction of entry if god forbid you or the kids forget your passes!!!

A lovely site, but too restrictive for us....our much prefered basic site with no fancy arcades will do just fine from now on!
Happy camping!

We stayed at Camping Kings last Aug and we really enjoyed it. Me, my partner and 3 teenage kids.

The entertainment left a bit to be desired but the kids disco was good as we sould sit outside with a drink.

The shop was good with fresh bread delivered each week day.

The pool was brilliant a good size and never overcrowded you could get a lounger in the afternoon this was good when we had a lie in!!! The rest was ok nothing fancy but nice.

The only down fall for me was you can't sit in the sun right outside your caravan as it is in the middle of the forest!! and you get leaves falling on your head but apart from that I would recommend it. In fact we have just booked again to go in July so will post again after our visit.

I visited Camping Kings last year and loved the place. Car hire is definitely recommended as the local bus times are erratic to say the least. Some great places to eat in Palamos, La Salsa being my favourite and plenty of excursions available.

The entertainment on the campsite is a bit ropey but good for a laugh if nothing else!!! I thought the beach at La Fosca lovely and even better is Castell beach which is a 20 minute walk along the coast and from here it is possible to hire kayaks (usually high season only.)

There is a waterpark for the kids at nearby Playa d'aro and a free bus runs there daily( you can organise this at the campsite reception).

The campsite itself is a bit hi de hi but a great place for families and very sociable, although the restaurant was not very good last year, a lot of people complained that the food was cold, but maybe they will change that this year as they had only changed the set up for last season and it didn't really work.

The onsite mini bowling alley is great as is the abundance of pool tables, although in peak months are busy due to the kids holiday company PGL being based on the campsite.

All in all a really great little place not spoiled by too much commercialism as yet. And watch out for Petit the dwarf pony very cute but can be annoying when he follows you around!!!
