| said: A beautiful hotel dating back to 1614. There are wonderful gardens and a large pool with equally large terrace. So many places to sit (sun and shade) and relax. Just a couple of minutes walk to the front in Port de Soller. Not suitable for those with mobility problems - steps and slopes everywhere in the hotel grounds.
There are some rooms in the oldest part - most are in a newer block and there are suites in various other buildings. We were fortunate to be upgraded to a junior suite which was fabulous - it had a private roof terrace.
Breakfast was fine - cooked if you wanted plus plenty of fruit, bread etc.
The evening meals were a little hit and miss - soups and starters good - main courses - not a lot of choice and not many vegetables - puddings were superb - probably the best we have experienced in a hotel abroad. All buffet style. If we returned we would probably opt for B&B as there are many places to eat in the locality.
There is a new tunnel being built in Port de Soller which will (hopefully) be completed in 2007. The work is very close to the hotel and does create a lot of noise from very early morning to late evening - especially when they are blowing out the tunnel with dynamite!! Also you can actually see the work from part of the newer block. Whilst we were there it was a fiesta weekend so for 3 days there was no construction work anyway. It will be great when it is done as it will take the traffic away from the front at Port de Soller which can be very busy. It didn't spoil our holiday at all as the hotel grounds are full of trees which did seem to deaden the sound somewhat. Once completed the hotel will return to its very peaceful ambience.
A very recommended hotel - we will return someday.
