It is ideal for a nature lovers, but also for culture and archaeology enthusiasts. In Alghero in fact, the remains of the town walls and the fortified towers blend perfectly with a high level of touristic amenities; finally, characteristic local cafés and discotheques, together with shows put on by local organisations and popular festivals - bringing to life all the charm of the traditions of this land, the cradle of ancient civilisation - will all make for an unforgettable holiday

Hello guys - wanted to share with you some of our thoughts about our holiday during Summer 2006. Where to start??? Rubber - as good a place as any!! Swimming hats were required when swimming in the hotel pool. You had to wear these and were asked to leave the pool if you entered without one. Also a very lazy and rude life guard was 'on duty' between 9 and 12 and then 3 till 5. The hottest part of the day when you need to be in the water again we were not allowed.

Although the hotel was clean and the food was of an acceptable quality this really wasn't a decent hotel. We had a pink room that was decorated circa 1972 and a dodgy air conditioning unit that rumbled through the night. A noisy supermarket was opposite our room and although this caused us some entertainment with Italians arguing it was annoying!

The beach is indeed only a few minutes walk away. if you enjoy sitting like your in a car park then please venture to the dirty crowded place.

The old town was fairly attractive but the walk did take at least 20 minutes. There wasn't that much there, however you needed to make the journey to find any 'nice' bars to sit and get a drink.

The 'entertainment' at the hotel was of a disgusting standard. The singer found it hard to hold a note and regularly played to no-one. Even people walking past the hotel used to stop stare, laugh and walk on. Hence the need to make the journey into the old town!

Overall the hotel was adequate. We entertained ourselves during the holiday but would certainly never travel to this hotel or resort ever again. Oh and by the way if you are thinking of going there change nationality to Italian and you will be well catered for.

The Hotel Rina was positioned in a wonderful place, all of a one minute walk to the nearest beach, 30 seconds to the nearest supermarket and surrounding Restaurants could be found within a 5 - 10 minute radius. The only 'long' walk we had to take was the 20 - 30 minute walk into the Old Town, and that was well worth it.

Our room itself consisted of two twin beds, a bathroom (with shower, toilet, bidet, sink and hairdryer), air conditioning that doubled up as heating for the colder months, TV (with limited English) and a nice sized balcony. Rooms were always cleaned to a high standard and the maids had no problem coming back later in the day, if you were in your room.

Breakfast was a bit simple, but nice choices of cheese, ham, cereal, rolls, croissants, and sometimes a choice of cake.

As for entertainment, not something we really look for in a hotel, however there was a woman on every night, singing a selection of English and Italian songs, and she was actually quite good.

Overall the Hotel Club Rina, is a wonderful hotel, simple and yet all that you could need for a week break in Alghero.

One thing English was spoken in the hotel but a few staff only spoke it basic.
