| said: Hotel is out of the Alanya area which meant that our children and us got a little cabin feaverish at night. You could get a bus or taxi in to the town in about ten mins.
We would not wish to go when it is busy peak season as we found there was not enough pool/gardens to accom a full hotel. We would NEVER travel with IMPERIAL HOLIDAYS AGAIN.
When we booked we were assured that transfers were included. When we got to Antalya there was confusion and chaos. Goldtrail holidays who our tickets were with were useless and we ended up along with at least 15 other families walking up and down outside at 3am trying to find out whose list we were on for the transfer. We eventually found someone from Citrus Travel who was the resort rep. He later informed us that the transfers had not been arranged by Imperial it was our problem and unless we paid him £150 pounds we would not get back. Eventually he accepted £75 then refused to take us back. My husband had been ill whilst we were away and needed wheelchair assistance he knew this and was dishonest took our cash without a reciept and pocketed it. The hotel manager was excellent and eventually made him sort us and another family he had done the same to with travel to the airport. The Citrus rep also threatened another family that if they didnt pay he would cancel their flight tickets.
Oh well BEWARE..the Hotel is not our 5* but was clean. Food and drinks plentiful and nice even named diet drinks etc Felt a bit labelled with the wrist band but first time AI so maybe normal.
Our accommodation was at the top building and with my husband being ill we took advantage of the golf buggys.
Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. The 3 buildings outside the main hotel hav rooms with bedroom, bathroom and lounge area, furniture looks nice but bit tacky really, but plenty of space and has a fridge and balcony. We found it noisy and echoey when people were coming in at night and the lights are on sensors so go on and off outside your room when people go past.
For the £269 we paid for the week I cant complain about the food or the hotel and would say that part was good value. The pools were not heated and were freezing, and were only just opening when we got there on 30th March, one pool open, slide pool didnt open to the 1st April.
Kids had a good time, entertainment better for the younger children. Wouldnt go back and would never travel with Imperial Travel again. Told us whilst in Turkey to look at their advert. Spoke to the 'owner' who told us to look at their advert..easy that eh when you are in a hotel room in Turkey being threatened by the Citrus travel rep that Imperial use!!
Will be looking to resolve through small claims!
Hotel good for a week, staff fab, food nice enough, rest I need a holiday to get over.

cannot speak highly enough of the staff especially Hakan, who looked after our vodka for us what a star.
Rooms were above expectation, the walk up the hill after consuming copious amounts of vodka and wine was a bit daunting, the man in the golf buggy came to our rescue on several occasions, much to his amusement what a top bloke.
We consider the lounge bar was out of this world opulent does not say enough.
The food was superb with plenty of choice even for someone as fussy as myself. We kept an open mind and tried everything that was there.
Every time we got up for our next course, our table was cleared and our drinks were replaced. At every point during the day there was food available, we wanted for nothing.
The beach bar and food was as good as the hotel, it was as if they had moved the hotel to the beach and you could order your drinks from your sun lounger.
The amazing Turkish lady at the beach making pancakes was an amazing experience. The entertainment was lacking but we made some good friends and made our own entertainment.
We felt as though we had been treated really special. We got a free upgrade for being on our honeymoon. We had a photo shoot with the in house photographers, wow what an amazing experience, they followed us everywhere, it was like having the paparazzi with you. We felt like celebrities, the photographs were unbelievable.
Not many shops in the resort, or bars or restaurants, and it is pretty remote. Dolmus ride into Alanya was an experience as was the town itself, shops seemed to be all the same, the harbour and the beach were stunning stop off at the juice bar once there if you can, the harbour was stunning.
The twelve hour travelling was a bit long but it is well worth it, the whole holiday from start to finish will stay in our memory forever as one of the best a honeymoon we will never forget.

| said: The Orient Palace was spotlessly clean, with excellent staff. The food was good, which for me to say that, as l'm a fussy eater, is excellent, with the added bonus that none of us got Delhi bellie in the full two weeks that we stayed there.
There wasn't really any entertainment but then we went before the season had really got started. We made our own entertainment with the lovely people we met there and had a fantastic time.
There are three pools, the middle one having three slides for the little and big kids!!! The top pool being the most peaceful.

| said: We found the hotel and its amenities really good and the staff excellent. The rooms were superb, only problem being they gave us a suite with two double beds which was no good for 3 friends sharing. Our request for a change caused no problem and staff were only too willing to help.
Food at dinner was an experience but if you're willing to try unusual combinations no problem, it would be better if they would serve some traditional turkish food instead of catering mainly for the German guests, however breakfasts were good and lunches and snacks ok.
The location was a bit out of the way and the steep hill was a problem, even though we varied in age from late twenties, thirties and forties. The main problem and the area which was practically non existent was entertainment, one night there was a couple of guys on stage, but none of us could understand what they were doing and heard from other guests that it was usually bit rude.
Also we have never stayed all inclusive before but found the system of all inclusive and ultra all inclusive a bit off putting, the children seemed to get a raw deal as they had to pay for ice cream and there didnt seem to be much else for them.
Overall the holiday was really good and apart from the food and lack of inflight entertainment the flight was good. It took off on time both ways and the staff were ok, except even though baggage came off really quick we seemed to sit on the coach for over and hour and then on top of a 90 min coach trip the driver stopped off for a break.
This meant that after leaving manchester 9pm we didn't arrive at our hotel until until just after 7am local time.

| said: Stayed at this hotel for one week. Rooms cleaned daily - no problems there.
The meals were ok but in real terms there was little variety and anything longer than a week would have resulted in boredom.
We stayed in the main building with the Restaurant and main pool. The hotel is a couple of miles out of Alanya with a regular Dolmus service on the main road which is quarter mile walk from the hotel - cost 1 lira. The beach is a good 15 minute walk or you can catch the hotel mini-bus but make sure you are on the bus 10-15 mins before it is due to set off. The private beach is very shingly and not really suitable for kids wanting to play in sand.
The staff seemed to me to be a mixed bunch some friendly some not. Service at the bar was hit and miss depending on staff too. Some Turkish Lira were taken from my room but I'll give the benefit of the doubt that they thought it was a tip.
The entertainment was not the best. Little during the day and not much better at night. Bingo, mini-disco with little effort from the 'entertainers'. Pool areas tended to be crowded with little space.
When we got home it struck me that the journey out had, from leaving home to arriving at the hotel, taken over 13 hours which would put me off the hotel/resort for future.
All in all despite my comments above the hotel was actually very good value for money.

| said: We got this as a great deal for the easter break (14.04.06) through Goldtrail for £249 and feel that it was well worth it.
The flights were with Onur Air and were very basic. Free drinks were served at certain intervals, but the meals were terrible! Outwards consisted of cold pasta and two chunks of kebab with a white yoghurt-ish dessert. Inbound was even worse with rock-solid rice and two chunks of kebab and the same white yoghurt like substance! Most people seemed to leave it.
The transfers are 2 and 1/2 hours to Alanya with a stop on the way and we arrived at 6:00am their time. The porters were great, labelling our luggage and taking it to the room. We checked in and found that we had a twin room when we had specifically requested a double! This was changed in the afternoon, after we had a sleep. The rooms themselves were great. They had a separate bedroom, a bathroom with twin-sinks and shower or whirlpool bath and a living area with family table, sofa (bed), sat TV and two comfy chairs. All rooms had a balcony or terrace with patio table and chairs. The rooms were cleaned every day and bedding changed every other.
The main part of the hotel had a swimming pool with plenty of sunbeds along with inside and outside bars. There was also a pool with slides and a bar, and a third pool. Each block of the hotel was further up the hill, but you could get a lift from the porters in golf buggies.
The restaurant was on the first floor of the main building and got quite full, although the waiters were friendly and did their best to keep everything clean and tidy for the constant stream of guests. The food itself was mainly for Germans, with various salad stuff and main dishes mixed with onions and sausage etc.. It was fine, but I have had better choices and the small variety got a bit tiresome. Breakfast was a very continental affair. Unfortunately, because of the location, there wasn't any close restaurants you could walk to for something different.
A baker was also near the pool and would create a buffet of burgers, sausages, pizzas and various breads between 12-5 and then they would put out a biscuit and sweet bread selection from 5-7.
The barstaff were quick and friendly and you could get cocktails and bottles of water along with the usual local beers and beverages.
The entertainment was the main downpoint of the hotel...it was non existant! During the day they would do one thing (usually consisting of a game with a cup and a pin-pong ball)! In the evening, if they did come on, it would be very short, unfunny and split up by a lot of belly-dancing!!
All in all, the hotel was a lovely place. The decoration was fancy without being opulent; the staff were very helpful and friendly and the food was nice but lacked variety.
Obviously, it is not a true 5 star hotel as we would expect, but for the country it was very good.

My husband and I have just spent a week at The Orient Palace Hotel in Alanya and we would first like to state that this hotel is NOT a 5 star hotel as we know it, more a 4*. But if you get it at a good price then it is good value.
Firstly, be aware that the journey from Antalya airport to Alanya is two and a half hours with a stop along the way (“Goldtrail” are not very organised) so having left Gatwick Airport at 9.15pm, we only arrived at the hotel at 5am the next day our time (7am their time). Many of the people we spoke to had not been told about the long transfer so it’s good to be aware especially if you have young children.
The brochure/website states that the hotel is set in Botanical Gardens which is a slight exaggeration as there are only the average plants and shrubs, nothing like a botanical garden! The hotel is set on a steep hill with the main hotel (including restaurant, lounge etc) on the bottom and then three blocks with accommodation up on a hill behind it. There was building work going on around us at the time we went as the area is still being developed. We went at the start of the season (7-14 April 2006) and the hotel wasn’t full but yet all the sun-beds around the swimming pools were used. If you like peace and quiet, go to the smaller pool at the very top which is not so busy. The pool with the slides is very popular with children and families so can be busy and noisy. The beach is NOT as close as the brochure implies and families were disappointed as they thought it was only a short walking distance but it takes approx 20 minutes walk going downhill and 25 minutes walking back up hill. However, the hotel does run a small courtesy bus every hour but this can get very full especially the first one at 10am. Be warned the beach is NOT sandy, just stones.
The food in the hotel is very good and fresh and is all very clean. They have lots of lovely choices of salads, fresh breads and desserts and the waiters are very friendly. There is only the one restaurant for main meals which is buffet service and then outside by the pool area there is a snack bar in the afternoons serving hot dogs, burgers and chips etc along with drinks. There are plenty of soft drinks and water available throughout the day plus beers etc. The entertainment was not very good. We went into Alanya town a couple of times but didn’t think there was much to it unless you want to buy fake designer clothes, which was popular with the young people. We travelled by local bus which we got on the main road at the bottom of the hill, as it is a long walk. Re currency they will take either the new Turkish Lira or Euro.

| said: Hi,
I travelled at the same time as the previous report and agree mainly with the comments.
The room we had comfortably slept 3 and a cot for the baby. No need to put the pram down and room to walk around, rare and fantastic. Have a shower early, by 5.30 to have it hot.
We found the food plentiful but they had a thing about brussell sprouts...maybe they think we have them all year. It is lucky that the hotel is AI as we found it a little remote, no bars or restuarants to walk to.
The hill the hotel is on is steep and I would think it would be difficult for those with walking difficulties. There were lots of falls during our stay. Just down from the hotel you can get a minibus, dolmus, into Alanya which we enjoyed a few times.
We were the first British tourist group to the hotel, thus the lack of reviews. We were made to feel very welcome. The mix of Scandinavians, Turkish, Russian and us seemed to work well.
If you fancy a Turkish Massage, the spa in the hotel offers them. Have it the day you arrive, no matter how tired you are, it will speed up your tan! It is more expensive than in town but very convenient.
The entertainment, this is a very very loose term in our opinion, was poor at best. With children, comedy featuring graphic jokes..and not just a couple, were rather unsuitable. Especially when the childrens entertainers were @cracking@ them. Very poor taste indeed.
Take Euros, everything is priced in them, and avoid travellers cheques (very difficult we hear).
Goldtrail were an experience as previous author says, but this did not stop us enjoying our holiday. It was cheap and we relaxed and enjoyed the sunshine.
Go and enjoy, but you will have to get out of the hotel to know that you are in Turkey.

| said: Having booked this hotel last minute through Goldtrail - we then did some checks on the internet and spent some time worrying that our holiday would be awful because of some of the reports on the internet. Not so! We flew with Onur Air - there seem to be many scary comments on the internet about this airline from Turkey. Both of our flights were on time, with clean aircraft, decent cabin crew (although the food was an acquired taste).
On arrival in Turkey we experienced the only negative on our holiday - Goldtrail couldn't organise a ****up in a Brewery!! We all sat in coaches for about 1.5 hours while a lone Goldtrail rep flapped about and made sure people were on the right coach etc...
We arrived at the Orient Palace Hotel after a 2.5 hour drive as daylight arrived. The hotel is a little back from the beach, on a hill. You either stay in the main block where reception is located or one of 3 blocks - they are a short walk up the hill ro the rear of the main hotel - but the hotel run a shuttle service with little golf type buggies for you and your luggage.
The rooms are huge - and very well appointed. Most people get a mini suite (we did) - and this appears standard. Everything you imagine you get in a 5* is there. Onto food - a great selection. Standard self service buffet style, but waiter service to the table with drinks. If there is a 1% chance of a stomach bug whilst abroad - I get it! No such problem with the Orient Palace. The entertainment was good - the All Inclusive bar was good too.
In the afternoon you can have drinks and a selection of cakes and pastries in the main bar. All in all it was a great holiday and the Orient Palace a luxurious and well appointed hotel. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.
