I would defo not recommend this holiday for groups of etc wantin to party. We (8 girls) found this hotel to be more coupled based and we felt like outsiders.
We couldnt play music after 9pm...they tried to blame us for breaking windows etc when we yad already reported these issue when we arrived. We stayed for a wk and our room wasnt cleaned once-we got fresh towels only after we complanined about the 50th time and ended up havin to clean our floor with babywipes.
Pool area etc was nice...food was not to bad but kinda on the greasy side. and beware the security guard if ur dare try and bring anyone bk....he hides behind things then sneaks out on u(which is not very nice) then demands 30euro for ur guest.
Location is pretty good but not worth the other hassle u get when u stay at this hotel.

Location - amazing, set back from nightlife but only about a 3min walk to strip!
Staff lovely, guests lovely (on our week it included big groups of young people plus young couples in groups which was a good mix for a laugh).
Food at pool bar VERY cheap and nice, compared to other places i've stayed. They do a mix of pool bar English food and also Greek meals which is nice.
I would deff reccommend the Emerald to anyone who wants to go to Malia for a clubbing holiday. Escapades put on loads of stuff throughout the week which is good too cos you get to go out with the rest of the guests from your hotel. Reps are great, not pushy, we were great friends with ours.
It's a clean place too, looks very modern and pretty around the pool area!

I stayed at the Emerald hotel last October.
This was the first time we had been to Malia and we would definitely stay in these apartments again if we were to return.
It is a family run hotel and we found all of the staff very helpful and friendly. The rooms were very clean and the maids came to clean our room 3-4 times in the week we were there.
The apartments are set in close to shops, bars and restaurants and it’s very quiet. Infact, at the Emerald you can open a bedroom window at 3am and NOT be deafened by music.
A reasonable achievement in a 'lively' resort like Malia.
Great cheap pool side snacks & drinks great surrounds and an ideal location!
