| said: We would definately return to Altinkum but not to this hotel. The layout of the hotel and grounds is fine, but the biggest let down was the food and lack of alcohol. Fourteen days on the same menu did become mind blowing. The salad choices was very good, but the meat was limited to chicken and occasionally liver appeared. Chicken every lunch and dinner time was not good. Breakfast mainly consisted of many ways to cook eggs, but the fruit and cheese/ham platters made up for it.
The other frustrating element was the only way to taste alcohol was to buy it at the hotel, which we refused to do, or venture into the shopping centre and visit one of the many bars. Don't buy the hotel drinks, although they are the genuine brands they cost a fortune and are simply not worth it. The bar rule of two drinks per person did cause problems. You had to get two drinks sit down and then return to the queue and ask for two more drinks. Silly - but this is hotel policy!
Overall we did have a good holiday. The sun shined permantely and we met some lovely people. Our children thoroughly loved the swimming pools and my son loved the daily football games. We did not watch any of the entertainment. You had to leave the bar area to cross the complex to go to a theatre which we simply did not want to do. We enjoyed other people's company and our own and every evening was fun.
I do recommend that you visit the shopping area and harbour at night, that is when the place comes alive! It is well worth planning a meal out. We visited a restraunt overlooking the harbour and we were entertained with Turkish belly dancers - a brillant evening.
With regard to the staff, we found the bar staff slow and simply not interested in serving, the reception staff were okay but unless you were Turkish their response to queries was non existant. Be prepared to get up early to get your sunbeds, from 7.00am you'll get what you want.

| said: the hotels was run down the ceiling was splitting in two places there was no aircon in lobby. the staff were just plain rude.the rooms were very basic. glad i did not stay for more than a week.
the food was very basic too, ok if you liked chicken and curry. my 3 year old lived on chips and ketchup. the staff in the dinner hall were very friendly and made every effort you enjoyed your very plain an basic meal.
we had a 2 hour transfer from bodrum airport. the drivers were maniacs with sheer drops at the side of the roads the driver made the coach sway so much i was frightened for my safety, he overtook a slow moving lorry on a bend and as another car was coming the other way he blasted on the horn at them to move out of the way!!!! never again!!
the catering and waiters were excellent very friendly but the lobby staff were in a league of their own in all the years i have been travelling to turkey i have never encountered staff so rude and un helpful as those people were.
we went all inclusive but it wasn't! with it being so hot i tried to get icecream for my 3 year old only to be told i had to pay for it. it was free tho between the hours of 3pm and 4pm wot a joke!!!
the was a little bit of entertainment for the kids a disco of some sort from 9pm till 9.30pm then nothing.
there was not even a kiddies pool! no pool attendants no life guard nothing.!!!
with the flight not getting in till the early hours of monday morning i was told i could extend room on our departure on sunday due to the fact our flight did not depart till 10.40pm from hotel. i was sorely disappointed as we still had to check out at midday only to be told that from 12 onwards i had to pay for food and drinks. how could they sit and watch a 3 year old go without food and drink and have to sit in an un airconditioned lobby for 11 hours. that was unbelievable to say the least!!!
needless to say i WILL NOT EVER return to THAT hotel!

| said: although this was not the hotel we had originally been booked into we had very few complaints, the Hotel was very clean and rooms cleaned daily. Reception staff had a funny way of not being able to deal with issues independently and always huddled in groups of 3-5 to sort out even the simplest of tasks. The entertainment team were very friendly and always eager to get you up and joining in. Although the entertainment was basic it always managed to cause us a few giggles!! The food was a bit repetative but always edible (turkish food mainly, but who goes on holiday to have english food, butlins would be a better choice of destination for these people) The alcohol on the all inclusive seemed to have a low % and you could merrily drink all day and still be sober. We only stayed here for 3 nights then got moved again, but would recommend this hotel.

| said: We arrived at the hotel on 16/06/2008 and on first appearance the hotel staff seemed to be pleasant if not a little abrupt, but we put it down to the turkish ways, although we have travelled to Turkey previously and not found them to be as unfriendly.
On 21/06/2008, at approx 12pm an announcement was made over the loudspeakers around the pool area that there would be a traditional Turkish wedding that evening. At 3pm, staff approached us as we were laying by the pool and told us to "move". This order was refused and we stayed put. We were told to take it up with the hotel manager, but as that would involve moving, we requested that maybe the manager would like to come and explain why we had to move from the pool area at 3pm as the pool was open until 7pm. The manager refused to appear.
That evening, the food in the dining hall was cold and inedible and resembled the dishes served at the lunchtime sitting. There were not any visible waiting staff and the dining tables were not being cleaned and cutlery replenished between guests. When upon leaving the dining hall, we found most of the outside area of the hotel around the pool bar (evening area) cordoned off and we were only ALLOWED on the patio area outside the dining hall.
The pool bar had been didvided off and we were only ALLOWED around the back of the bar where there was ONE person to serve all the hotel guests, but the wedding party had seven barstaff to serve them although they were being waited upon.
When we went to reception to try and talk to the hotel manager to complain of the lack of service, we were laughed at!!!!!!
We were later informed that this wedding was the cousin of the Hotels' Owner!
When we first arrived at the hotel, we were told by staff that we were able to collect 3 drinks per person from the bar, but halfway through the holiday, it was lowered to 2, which was not helpful as there were 7 people in our party and as it is an all inclusive hotel, why are there any restrictions???
All these problems caused us to eat and drink in the town of Altinkum which means this holiday has proved to be very expensive, considering we have paid for an all inclusive holiday. The First Choice rep tried to be helpful and concurred with the issues raised and on our day of departure was having her own trials with the hotel as they had stopped her using the conference area for her welcome meetings.
This hotel seemed to be very confused with the term All Inclusive and we would forcefully urge First Choice to reconsider placing any guests into this hotel.

| said: I was dreading this holiday after reading reviews, but put other people's opinions to back of mind and went with hope of a good time. The hotel cleanliness was excellent, rooms were cleaned daily and clean towels daily. We also got clean pool towels every day. The food was nice but did get repetetive, I am quite fussy but always managed to eat. The location was really good, just out of town so was quiet, but only a five minute dolmus ride into town. The majority of the staff were very friendly but there was one bar staff who let the side down. He was very rude to guests and it seemed to his co-workers. Once it got to 10.55pm he would say it was the end of all inclusive and refused to serve anyone else, this annoyed a lot of people. The entertainment in the day was good, staff tried to involve all guests but didn't hassle you if you said no. Evening entertainment wasn't good so we tended to go into town on a few nights. On our day of leaving we had to check out at 12 midday and didn't leave till midnight, we didn't keep our rooms on and were told that we could use the shower in the spa, we did pay £5 each though to keep the all inclusive facilities. I have never had to do this before and have been on a lot of all inclusive holidays. On the whole I think it does merit 3 star and would return in the future.

| said: After reading some reports on this hotel i was thinking have i done the right thing by booking. and the answer was yes.
The food was excellent my two children ate something every night which was not chips. they were even trying new foods. breakfast was the usual continatal breckfast. We did not eat in the hotel resturant lunch time as we waited for the hotel poolside snack bar to open which served burgers and chips and turkish pizza. I would recommend turkish kabab on turkish night (yummy)
As for the cleanliness well what can i say. apart from 5 * there were always people cleaning. the hotel pool side was spotless. room cleaned on a daily basis with fresh towles.
The location of the hotel was good.It was about a 5 min walk down to the little beach or if you fancied the main beach it was a plesent 15 min walk past the fun fair and Marina. once on the main beach you can shop and eat all day.
The hotel staff were ok, very polite and freindly.
The entertainment was done in the ampithetre at night where they started of with the kids mini disco which my two loved. while we were there we watched turkish belly dancing and the traditional folk dance. although we did not join in with the day time activities there was something going on all day for adults and kids if you wished.
I would not worry about reserving sunbeds as there were loads. the poolside staff laid them out for you got you mats and even tables for your drinks.
The only downside was the all inclusive drinks. unless you liked local vodka, Gin or beer you had a choice off fruit juice or water. unless you wanted to pay as they have to import it in. But if you go into a supermarket while you are there you will notice this is all they sell as well.

| said: Hotel very clean, clean towels daily The food was good dispite previous reports mainly chicken dishes but varied same for the second week ,but alot to choose from and always hot. Salads were plentyful. The pizzas were good on the snack bar. the bar did tend to run out of something each night, but if thats all there is to moan about. People complained that it wasnt 5 star but the brochure said three star plus, it was 5 star from the hotel ratings in Turkey. You dont go to Turkey expecting british way of cooking if you do then stay at home .Just a short bus ride to dolphin square and to the market , local bus to the beach, but only a short walk, a bit dark of a night. Hotel staff were ok, one or two let the side down. The evening entertainment was poor though, they did encourage you to join in with games during the day, those guys were really friendly to all ages staying there.
I will be going back again

| said: We got back from our holiday on Sat 25th August, to be honest we were not looking forward to it due to all the negative reviews.
We can honestly say we were very surprised. From the moment we got to Gatwick we had a brilliant time, we cannot fault First Choice at all they were brilliant. The transfer from Bodrum airport was a long one after the flight, but the views along the way were beautiful so it soon took your mind of it!
When we arrived at the hotel it looked lovely, especially compared to some of the others we had passed! We were greeted warmly by the reception staff who spoke very good english we had our luggage taken to our room which was a welcome break as it was so hot, ha ha! The guy on reception was very helpful he gave us all the infomation we needed. We did pay for a safe which was 42 lira for a week which is about £16 so it doesn't break the bank. You also get to put your own code in it so nobody other than yourselves can access the safe.
We got to the room and were pleased with it, it was very clean and spacious. We had a double bed, single and sofa bed which were made up nicely. We had a balcony with a lovely view of the pool and sea. The bathroom was small but clean, I will say the bath is quite small perfect for kids though.
When we went down to dinner again the dining room was very nice, clean and spacious there is also an outside area to sit. There was a very big selection of food at least 6 main courses, salad, veg, breads. The puddings were amazing, and because of this i put on 3lbs (not impressed!) I will say the food does tend to repeat itself but its all very nice, my kids who are very fussy ate everyday without fuss. The snack bar was great as sometimes we over indulged at breakfast so we weren't hungry till mid afternoon.
The bar staff were great, very friendly and happy all the time. We didn't ever have a problem in ordering drinks, we could get as many as we wanted when we wanted. The alcohol wasn't watered down, if it was it must have been flipping strong to start off with!!
The entertainment was great for kids, it was ok during the day if you like playing waterpolo and pool games. They do sometimes hassle you to join in but its all done in a friendly way. My kids loved the pool they weren't that fussed on the waterslides but they looked good fun. Apprantly the week before we went all the tiles were replaced around the waterslides and we didn't hear of any accidents.
Even though the hotel was full during the day there was never a problem getting a sunlounger.
The beach is about a 3 minute walk from the hotel, it was nice for an evening stroll but I wouldn't have gone there during the day. You can catch the dolmus (bus) from outside the hotel to Altinkum town its 1 lira each way per person. Its not the best place I've been to but its quite lively at night.
We went on a boat trip to Akbuk which we booked through First Choice, it cost us £45 but I wouldn't say its value for money. If you go to the harbour which is a 5 minute walk from the hotel you can go on the same trip for £4 per person!
We had a great holiday and would defintely go back. Personally I would not recommend this hotel to families with very young children.
Please have an open mind when you go and don't believe all the negative comments/reviews as it nearly ruined our holiday before we even went. Just remember your going to a foreign country which for me is part of the hoilday experience!!

Food - was very repetitive same lunch time and evening.
Staff - most staff were pleasant but bar staff were rude.
The Pool for the waterslide and the childrens pool had to be closed due to the number of complains, saw quite a few accidents which were caused by missing or chipped tiles.
Entertainment - for a 5 star hotel you would expect good entertainment, you are going to be very very disappointed. The entertainment was extremely poor.
We paid 1st choice for 14 days all inclusive but only got 13 days, had to check out of the Hotel at 12pm but did not fly until 4.30 in the morning we were expected to pay £5.00 per person to eat at the hotel and another £20.00 per person to keep the rooms on.(which we did not)

| said: Rooms are cleaned every day however myself and many other families at the hotel reported belongings going missing and our safe wa opended once. The hotel could do nothing about our belongings going missing. The patio door was oftern left open by the cleaners.
It is a briliant location as it is 10 minits from the beach and a short bus ride to the local shops, market, bars and clubs.
Staff at reception are helpfully, however bar staff are rude and perverted.
My sister cut her foot open in the pool, twice. One girl was ruched to hospital when she cut her foot in the pool. Had to be moved room twice, once beacuse aircon brok and the second beacuse the toilet started leeking. They then tryed charging us for braking them both??
My bed broke twice, the first time i rang reception and they told me that they were aware of the bed being broken and they had already arranged for it to be fixed in the morning. They did not pre warn me tat the bed was broken and it collapsed as i sat on it and i hurt my leg. This happened again after they had apparently fixed it.
Drinks re limited to local drinks and are only freen before 11pm. Food is at limited times and is not nice. The burger bar is good!!
Never would i go back there

| said: We have just returned back from two weeks at this awful hotel, where do we start.
On arrival we checked in and paid for our safety deposit box which cost 84 lira, only for them to try and charge us again on checking out, as far as we could see nobody behind the reception desk knew what they were doing. No communication at all, we also had to ask for receipts when exchanging travellers cheques to there horror from the look on there faces. Very odd.
We were booked to have inter connecting rooms which were fine but as we had three children we requested a pool/sea view only to find a damn building site from the balcony, when we complained about this they told us that was the garden view... They told us and our rep that the hotel was fully booked, but that was another lie. The only way to get your pool/sea view is to slip a member of staff some cash as we spoke to several family's to find this is how they got the room they wanted.. Bad patter considering we had booked a year in advance to make sure we got the right view.
The animation team were non existing the first week, the food was terrible, not enough choice for young kids. Staff were very very rude. Apart from girl who did night shift called senem.if only the rest of them could have been more like that it would have been easier to communicate....
After 11.00 you have to pay for drinks, so much for all inclusive........
Altinkum itself is a great place and we would go back but not to the garden of hell. Anyone visiting Altinkum must pay a visit to the Sahill restaurant, great food excellent staff and brilliant atmosphere. Thank god for them and the weather and the company we had or this would have been a long two weeks....
They call this hotel 5 star. Not in our books, we'd class it as 1 star and that is being generous!!!!!!!!
If you do go to this hell hole then always ask for receipts.
The aqua park is a good day out.

The food is absolutely disgusting, there is no variety - the food is the same at lunch time and dinner time every day. Breakfast was just not edible. We have been on all inclusive before so no the food isnt five star, but i wouldnt even give this food to my dog!
Security in the hotel is a shambles, while we were there people had things stolen around the pool and from rooms, security were only interested in stopping you bringing food and drink into the hotel. They tried to take my friends 4 year old daughters lolly off her!!

| said: Food - ok if you like a wide selection of dishes, however, should you stay longer than 7 days, then you'll find that the dishes are repetitive!!
Rooms - Very nice, clean and tastefully decorated. The only down-side to the rooms is lack of power, which unfortunately doesn't tend to stay on for any length of time.
Also we kept experiencing a foul smell from the drains in our bathroom - an ongoing drainage problem in Turkey!!
Entertainment - Extremely poor, I've seen better acting from my 4 year old Daughter's Xmas Play!! Plus, the area where they hold the entertainment is dangerous and not very practical. No barriers to stop the kids from falling from quite a high height.
Staff - Most of the staff were pleasant, however certain bar staff were very rude and spoke little English!! British people are not favoured well here!!. Our party was a party of 18 people and we were refused drinks at 23.45pm, as the bar staff were under the impression that we were stockpiling the drinks!?! Their comments of "You've had enough now" was not greatly received when we'd actually been outside of the complex all evening and had only ordered 8 drinks in total - how dare they stop us getting drinks when we've already paid for them and when we hadn't even had a drink per person - disgusting! Bar staff were not interested in the fact that there were 19 of us - they were most rude and very argumentative.
Kids Club - The young lady that runs this is very good, speaks good English and knows all the names of the children. She keeps the children entertained with a variety of games and activities - 5 stars for her - she is wasted at this hotel.
Main Pool Area - Nice pool with bar close to hand.
Kids Pool Area - Lovely sized pool suitable for toddlers and children. The only problem with this is that there happens to be a tree very close to the pool, which is currently loosing very large branches -2 large branches fell during our week's stay, luckily no-one injured but the first branch took several people to remove - this tree is extremely dangerous, as it overhangs the pool and the kids club gazebo - this really should be cut down!! Hotel staff informed, but whether they take further action is anyone's guess!!
Kid's Aqua Slides - This area consists of 2 water slides, which are great fun, although are only open during certain time slots!! Unfortunately, the tiled area surrounding this area is extremely slippery and a number of people fell and injured themselves as a result of a non-grip surface!!
Although certain aspects of the holiday were great, we would not holiday here again, as we've been on better All Inclusive holidays!! We appreciate that this hotel is relatively new, it's unfortunate that they're still on a steep learning curve though!!

| said: This hotel was fantastic. I read reviews before I left and was worried.
When we got off the bus the hotel staff were waiting to take our bags to our rooms which was great as it was 4am and with 2 tired kids made all the difference.
The food catered for everyone pizza/burgers/pasta/chips for the kids as well as all the usual European dishes for the adults.
The only time I left the hotel was to pick up pressies as all I needed was in the hotel ie/playground/water slides/spa. I have to say my youngest is only 2 and was forever falling over but before I could blink one of the staff had picked her up made sure she was ok before I got to her.
The staff spoke very good English and were very helpful and made us enjoy our holiday.
I am already looking into booking up for next year. That's how much I enjoyed myself. The only slight downfall was the entertainment but they are having a new area built so this is why.

The children were very tired. Hotel reception were very polite and quick to get us into our room. As we had not eaten we were all given a selection of meats and cheese to get us through the night!
Food was lovely, we managed to put on weight! I was just fed up with hearing people moaning about food and entertainment. No wonder English get a bad name.
The entertainment team were great getting people involved, but guess what, the ones that moaned did't join in!!! Kids disco a bit poor(Same 5 songs for 2 weeks) but the kids loved it.
We enjoyed every minute of our holiday thanks to the friendly staff and entertainment team.
Wish we were going back tomorrow. Enjoy it and don't listen to the moaners, they should stay in Britain if they want an English breakfast!!!

OK it was quiet when we stayed, but food is lovely. As for "small drinks", go and get another one!
Entertainment staff are really good, but if it's not busy, what are they supposed to do?
About 5 mins bus drive from centre, (they beep you if you're walking and you want them to stop ) about 30p each, one way.
Only gripe was checking out at 12pm and losing inclusive benefits till we left at 5.50pm.
Go over the road and have a good meal and drinks for about £20 for 4! (marine restaraunt).
Coke in hotel shop is about £1 for 1.5l & water is 60p for 1.5l bargain for the convenience.
Sorry I'm going on but some of the other reviews unjustly slate this hotel which we thought was wrong.
Don't pay for extra all inclusive on checkout (£60 for 4 people )do as I said above and shower downstairs in fitness area for free before you leave. Bargain!!

The food is turkish food - they do potato wedges and spag bol and other foods you will recognise and some you wont BUT try them some are really good - we enjoyed it and there was always a guy at night outside on the patio grilling meats etc. The salad bar is always well stocked and is fresh and there are fresh fruits and offer. The dessert counter has mainly turkish style desserts - some beautiful some not so nice - And if you dont like anything you can leave it and get something else
The snack bar offers turkish pizza - either cheese or meat - and are delicious. They also do chips, burgers, and pepperoni style pizza. They also do icecream cones in the afternoon.
For children there wasnt a kids club running - I assume its because its was low season - but there was two waterslides and toys for children to play with. The kids disco was every night at 9.30.
The entertainment is not west end stage productions - mainly the entertainment team putting on little shows. They do try hard and they try to get everyone to enjoy themselves. During the day its pool, darts, water volleyball, pool team games, shuffleboard etc - everyone taking part were having great fun. You cant help but like the entertainment team as they are so friendly and full of fun.
The rooms are good quality not crampt at all and the air conditioner was very good. The only thing I would say is take coat hangers as there is not much drawer space. Get a room with a sea view as the rear view is not that good.
The internet is 8 lira for an hour.
The hotel shop sells sweets, crisps, chocolate etc but is higher priced than in town but still not more expensive than back home.
The staff are very polite and friendly and the place is kept very clean.
The dolmus leaves from the gate approx every 5 mins and it costs 1 lira (40p) and takes about 4 mins to Dolphin Square.
The restaurants in town offer a wide variety of foods including fish and chips etc - so if your longing for home comforts you will find it here. The food is very cheap if you do decide to eat out - we did to have a break from the routine at the hotel.
All in all we had a good time and for the amount of money we paid (£1100 2 adults and a child for two weeks) we got a bargain!

We had no problems with the food what so ever (granted the food is more Mediterranean than British but what do you expect there trying to give you a slice of culture, if your a fussy eater don't do all inclusive).
There was a disco every night although it was quiet due to it not being peak season, ice cream was available between 3&4pm everyday for kids and there were 5 entertainment activities by the pool each day and 3 evening events during our 7 nights.
The staff are all very friendly and more than willing to help,as for the dining area the inside agreed can be a bit dinner room like however there are several individual round tables and at least 30 out door tables on the patio. As for drinks a smile goes a long way with the waiters and they are more than happy to give you table service as much as they can.
In all we had a fantastic time the location is excellent and there is something for everyone, the entertainment team were fantastic and tried there hardest to get as many people by the pool involved as they could, they also spent their evenings until 12 chatting with the guests and seeing if everyone was happy. To be fair to the team until the hotel is full they cant be expected to do their jobs properly, if there are no children and the adults are not willing to play killer pool what more can they do? We plan on going back again very soon!!!

| said: On arrival at hotel we thought it was fab it certainly looked the part.
However we were very let down. The staff dont speak very much English which caused all sorts of problems the food was ok the first 2 nights then it all started tasting the same we had to eat at a local restraunt. No choice with the all inclusive drinks and the soft drinks are more like a mouthwash(2 mouthfulls), no entertainment, kids waterslide not in use the full holiday, snack bar only for 2 hours and it is very meagre portions.
We were very disappointed and wouldnt advise anyone to go to this hotel it is no where near a 5 star hotel.

| said: Arrived late at night, problems getting into room/electricty, air con did not work mini bar not working, very expensive.
Food if you like salads/bread you will be ok.snack bar open only 2hours very small amount of chips given. Drink only vodka/raki/gin,they pressure you to buy there's £6-50 animation non existent, water slides, staff place padlock on electric supply, as they said it was using too much electic.
We had to pay £15-00 per person to keep all inc only till 8pm it will cost £25 until 12 midnight. We paid for 7 nights but only had 6. They give you room number over speaker system, if you dont vacate by noon, if no reponse remove all your items in bags!!
Only good thing it was clean/lots of sunbeds as only a few guests. Holiday rep plagued by compaints did not know what to do!! My advise don't bother, I would only give this 2 star, as bars/disco that are advertized don't exist.
First time in turkey, which is lovely, beware of the heat 39 in the shade.

| said: Just returned from garden of sun, what a disapointment, this is my first time in Turkey.
1. Food very poor no or any european food available at all three sittings, complaints fell on deaf ears. Dining room was like sitting in a works canteen no indivdual tables.
2. Entertainment nil,no professional acts at all any that was put on was by hotel staff.
3. 5 star rating you must be joking.
4. All inclusive rating what a joke most of the extras you had to pay for,ie no ice cream for kids,no local whiskey. No local rum,no local brandy,if you like vodka, beer or raki okay,a tot of barcardi 18tlira,about £6.50,no al a cart resturants as advertised in the brochures.
Entry to rooms is by card key this is a nightmare as it took us 4 attemps to get in arrived at 18.30 finaly got into room at 21.30,this is not an isolated incident, key card operates aircon/lights, electricty is always going off.
Staff, no complaints always helpful, nore than I can say for the managment, who were just not interested. Hotel cleanliness no complaints.
To round off this hotel had only about 300 guests, when it is full they will not be able to cope,if you have children dont use this hotel as you spend a fortune on extras going down town to eat. Good luck.
We travelled with Vision holidays, ther rep Ozzy Demirkon, was out of this world, without his help, the holiday would have been a disaster.
