| said: We stayed at the Maid's Head for their all inclusive Christmas Break. Although this hotel is part of a major group (Corus Hotels), its standards fell well below what we would have expected.
The outside of the hotel is very tired, badly in need of decoration and dow one side looks almost derilect. The carpets in the hotel, along the corridors and certainly in my bedroom were all very badly stained.
The chair in my bedroom had bad stains all over the seat. The arms of all of the easy chairs in the public areas were filthy. The hotel staff were pretty kind and helpful with the exception of the bar staff.
When I went into the bar on the first night the barman had his feet up on the bar watching TV. Later on he had his ear glued to his mobile phone all of the time he was serving me.
I could not lean on the bar as the bartop was covered with spilt beer and the whole bar had a smell of stale beer about it.
The food was just like Canteen Food. Frozen mixed vegetables, overcooked meat brought to the table on our plates covered with gravy.
I have Baked Sea Bass for Christmas lunch...should be delicately cooked but was so overcooked it was tough and stringy. Christmas night was 'Chef's Special Buffet'.
Three metal trays on the warming plate, one with Lasagne, one with Stoganoff and the last one with vegetable rice. Disgustingly disappointing not 'Special' We were very disappoined with this hotel and will never stay there again
