| said: The hotel pools are excellent, lovely and clean with plenty of sunbeds and clean towels available.
The food in the main restaurant was average, each night has a theme, the best one being International. We also tried the grill and Italian restaurants, they were a little better.
All the staff were very helpful, friendly and always smiling.
The daily evening entertainment was also very good.
I would definately recommend this hotel.

| said: I have to say that this hotel was one of the best we have ever stayed in. The pools were amazing, the staff were so helpful and friendly and there was a vast variety of food to satisfy anybodies taste buds.
The beach was beautiful and the Indian Ocean was so warm, to the right and left hand side of the hotel boundaries were beach sellers but the presence of guards stopped them from approaching you unless you moved away from the hotel area. My son went on a camel ride along the beach and thoroughly enjoyed this, we had to laugh when he said that he had to keep saying that he had to tell people he didnt want coconuts or souveniers whilst on the camel ride.
The hotel itself is very beautiful and the view from our balcony was fantastic. The monkeys were so cute, we left the patio door open one day and just shut the fly screen, when we came back to the room a monkey had ripped the fly screen and broke into our room and stole nuts from inside the wardrobe at the mini bar, we captured the pictures of the theif eating the nuts on the balcony, he even turned and gave us what looked like a smile. The monkeys were great though, they would walk past each balcony having a good look and even stopped to let you take their pictures. One day we were walking upstairs to our room and a monkey was walking down the stairs like a guest with his hand on the hand rail and even moved his bum out of the way for us to walk past him (wish I had my camera with me)
We went on the Shimba Hills overnight safari and this was one of the best experiences. The lodge was amazing and had walkways built on wooden stilts that led to treehouses in the middle of the jungle, we sat there at night having a drink watching all of the animals around us.
I will definately visit this hotel again, but next time we want to visit an orphanage. We took lots of pens/pencils/paper/books/luxury products (I work at Avon) with us, but it wasnt enough, we gave most of the things away to hotel staff. To see how they live in the village is a learning experience in itself, but they would wave at the bus or taxi and were really friendly.
The last night the local village choir came to the hotel and I couldnt look through emotion as it was touching to see the spirit and happiness they displayed when they have so little. The world is unfair.

| said: Spent a 10 days here, after a week on Safari.
Found the hotel very clean, all the staff were incredibly friendly, restaurants were good, although the main one would probably get a bit repetitive after a while? Re the bookable ones - we ate once in the grill - OK, and the italian 3 times - very good! You may need to book day before when busy?
Room was a little tired, particularly the bathroom, hot water a little inconsistent but the room in general was better than expected (I usually expect the worst!! Aircon worked very well.
Bars - 5 off, some did not carry sprits, but they would be fetched for you - huuugge measures. First all in I've come acroos that give you a proper bottle of 4½% beer (choice of 4 or %) not the 2% rubbish in tiny plastic cups!
No TV or fridge but you can live without them!
The monkey coming into the room ensured we kept at the least the fly screen closed during the rest of the holiday!
The pool was excellent, the cleanest I've seen anywhere, the pool guys doing a cracking job.
Sunbeds - just enough although no reservation was noy enforced - Some more signs in german might be approporiate.
I never go back to the same place but would be happy to recommend Southern Palms to my friends!

| said: Just returned from 2 week stay. Hotel is listed as 4 star and most of the amenities live up to this especially the pool which is massive and the beach which is powdery white sand and clear sea is warm and clear.
Beach sellers could be a bit of a problem but if you stay close to hotel's own loungers you are safe.
The actual accommodation could be better, I would rate this as more of a 3 star, we stayed in the ocean front rooms which were at a supplement, the view was great but room itself a bit musty and bed linen could certainly do with updating even though was changed regularly.
No fridge or tv but otherwise adequate.
There are 3 restaurants one main and two you have to reserve for. The main restaurant food consisted of a lot of kenyan food, curries indian type and fish and was a bit repetitive, I would class this as 3 star. The Italian restaurant was better - did not try the grill restaurant.
Hotel excelled on New Years Eve with lights everywhere and a lot of effort put in which was great. A very laid back hotel, animation team very low key and a quiet hotel although there are sports/activities going on if you want to join in.
Diani Beach is a good resort with fantastic beach and lots of restaurants. Would recommend the Tsavo/Saltlik Safari - was excellent but would leave the Paradise Lost trip Lost..... Service was good and staff helpful and friendly.
Ideal if you are looking for a beach/pool holiday with drinks readily available if you like top notch food then maybe not for you.
