| said: We stayed for one week in October. Our villa was in zone 5. The whole zone thing is not a confusing as it seems. Thompsons basically seem to have villas in zone 3 and zone 5. The other zones appear to be either timeshare or self owned. We went half board. This was just a well as the prices in Menorca are very high this year. We would have been looking at £60-70 for a family of 5 for an evening meal if we had had to pay for it in the resort.
The villa was basic, but clean. There are three pool areas which can be used. The ones in Zone 3 and 5 are free, the other in zone 4 is privately owned and the beds have to be bought. The pool in 3 in a basic square shape and not that pleasant. The one is 5 is smaller. Because we were in October it was quiet but still beds were at a premium. They get unlocked at 9.30. Hate to think what its like in the middle of summer.
The kids club can only take a small amount of kids at any one time. Not a problem for us in October but again in high season must be difficult. The half board is table served and at first the menu appears large and interesting. However after a couple of days it does get difficult to find anything different to have. Most meals for adults and all meals for children (with the exception of pizza) comes with chips, chips and more chips. Staff at zone 5 were good and great with the kids. The waiting staff at zone 3 looked fed up and waiting for the season to finish. Grumpy and unhelpful.
Drinks are expensive. Its now far cheaper to drink in the UK than in Menorca this year. Pints are around the 3.5 euro and spirit mixer were around 5 euro a time. Small cokes were just under the 2 euro.
The entertainment at night was very hit and miss. Thomson seemed to have someone who did the usual 30 minute kids disco thing, but he sometimes turned up and sometimes didn't. You never knew when it was going to be. Very little communication with the kids. I think there was a quiz one night but it was so slow and boring I lost the power of listening.
Zone 4 has a private restaruant which puts on tribute acts each night. This was only every second night when we were there as most had gone home. First night was Fake That, s three piece as fake gary had gone home for his mothers birthday. The fake Il divo sounded good but I have no real idea what the real Il divo sound like. The fake Robbie willims, Elvis etc were shall we say adequate.
Overall we did enjoy the holiday and would recommed it but you do need to be aware of the cost of staying in Menorca, the average entertainment.
Resort is nice, beach is great. Easy access to Mahon by bus at only 2 euro

| said: We have just come back from Son Bou. Enjoyed 14 days of beautiful clear blue sky. Really enjoyed our holiday - we stayed in Zone 4 at Son Bou Gardens in two ground floor apartments about 100 metres or so from the maze and the private San Jaime Club complex (the one with the water slides and where the nightly entertainment is).
Apartments were basic but very adequate - we had ants but you are in a mediterranean climate and so are part of the territory - just remember to keep your floors clean. Only thing we could have done with was a more regular change of the bed linen - it was done once in the two weeks. The area is nice and flat which we had hoped for given one of our little boys is disabled and is in a walker - apart from the steps at the pool lots of ramps in place which made access for him really easy. However I would not have liked to have stayed at some of the apartments up on the hillside so we chose well and review sites like this really helped our choice.
We spent our time at the San Jaime complex which was relatively quiet (I suspect as the English school holidays kick in it will get much busier)- which we only found at the end of the holiday is supposedly private - you have to pay 5 Euros for a lounger each day so like many people we just bought lilos (which they say are not allowed but are) and an umbrella at the little shop. We did venture to the beach one day which is spectacular - go down at sunset as well - but preferred the pool area. Our kids loved the slides which we did each afternoon and the girls who ran it were really great with them.
Eating out was very adequate - most nights we walked along to the little commercial centre (5-10mins) where there is plenty choice - nothing gourmet - but perfectly adequate (although I'd recommend avoiding the Chinese restaurant which does the buffet - not great). After dinner each night we went to the little Italian ice cream shop round the corner from the main reception in the commercial centre - you have to try it. There is also a little playpark/funfair at the commercial centre which we went to a few nights. There is also a great little patisserie just round the corner from the laundry in the Son Bou Gardens complex - the donuts and pastries are to die for. We did self catering lunch and breakfasts - basics are expensive at the little supermarket but c'est la vie. You can also get carry out pizzas and stuff at a number of places which we did a few times.
Plenty to do here during the day (little play park, great pool, slides, maze, etc) although we did not do the nightly tribute/circus act thing. We did not do any organised trips but did take the bus on two days to Mahon for the market ourselves (which is too far away from the port to walk to) and also went to Cuitadella on the west of the island (only about 45 mins on two buses) which is really lovely and worth a visit. The main reception staff were really helpful and we did not need the help of the rep during our stay. As an example we reported our toaster broken and our need for a few more towels one evening at the main reception and they got delivered two hours later at 11pm (great service).
Would definitely go again.

| said: We stayed in Zone 5 (the furthest from the beach/centre) apartments are very spacious and were spotlessly clean (apart from the ants which we sorted with a spray from the shop in the first hour!).
They don't have a microwave which would have been good but they do have fridge, oven, ironing board, iron, kettle, pots/pans and cutlery etc. We stayed in a downstairs apartment with a front patio and garden bit, lovely to sit on a night and eat/drink on the patio.
Can't comment on the entertainment - not my thing, sounded like Spice Girls one night at Butlins! But quiet apart from that. Everyone in bed around midnight anyway which is good for kids.
Theres a small amusements arcade on site and bar but in the centre of resort (5 min walk) then theres bowling, restaurants, 3 supermarkets, beach not far and bus stops allover for trips out to the rest of the island. We went to mahon - nothing there but streets, didnt find the harbour!! A few other people also said same.
Don't book trips with the reps before looking locally, on one bus stop we saw a trip they tried to sell for twice the price and theres a boat trip on a board outside a cafe.
All in all - lovely place, would suit kids from 5 plus better then babies or teens. We have a 5 yr old and 7mth old. Plenty of places to buy baby jar food and nappies but bit pricey, one place sells cow & gate and hipp but I wouldnt rely on it and I did take my own dried packets in my luggage with milk sachets.
Eating out didnt cost too much - three of us ate with drinks for around 50 euros at Casa Andres and Boni's in the centre of son sou and had pizzas and chips etc at Arthurs on the front for 35 euros.
All in all - would have been a great holiday if it hadn't rained for 1st 3 days, but we did go in May!

| said: We stayed in Zone 3 of the San Jaime Complex. I couldn't fault the location - it was in front of the play area, with a pool/restaurant a 100 yards to the left and Club San Jaime a couple of hundred yards to the right. The beach was just 5-10 minutes walk away.
The apartment itself was clean, and although pretty basic and in need of updating, it had everything we needed. It was brilliant to have ceiling fans in both bedrooms and in the living area. The apartments have two patio areas (or balconies if you're on the first floor) so you can choose to sit in the sun or shade. My only problem was the ants - they were everywhere, and this put us off eating indoors.
Most of the staff were very friendly and they all seemed to work extremely hard. Our pool was clean, and the restaurant handy for a few drinks, but the
entertainment there was too young for my children,(9 and 11) and we spent the majority of our time at Club San Jaime or the beach.
Club San Jaime has a great pool, and water slides
(10 slides for 6 euros). You have to pay for the loungers, or can watch the kids while having a drink in the reastaurant which overlooks the pool. There is a really great maze which we spent ages getting round. The food is pretty good and we ate there most nights while waiting for the entertainment. It's worth noting that you are charged less for drinks if you eat there and the waiters serve you. If you go up to the bar yourself, the drinks are almost 2 euros more per drink.
I can't fault the entertainment. It was mostly tribute acts but they were all brilliant, and the atmosphere in the club is great, with everyone singing and dancing along by the end of the night.

| said: I would guess this place was built in the 1960's to cope with the growing British demand for package holidays, however apart from a lick off paint it would appear nothing much has been done to improve it since then.
The resort is divided into 3 Zones each with a pool, restaurant and entertainment programme and you are at liberty to go to whichever zone you like whenever you like. Our first impressions of this place were not good, not good at all as we were allocated an apartment in zone 3 which is the least appealing and most down market. On entering the apartment there was a stale smell and I noticed the steady procession of ants along the wall. Having 2 small children (2 and 5) it was important for them to have an afternoon sleep but to my dismay when I opened their bedroom window I found it was directly opposite the resorts laundry facility with large industrial size washing machines and tumble driers churning out constant noise. In addition it was also only 25 metres from the entertainment stage where lookalike tribute bands would bellow out 'pub singer' type songs until mid-night.
The beds were small and covered in tired old bedding, the furniture was scratched
and chipped and the stale smell of cigarettes pervaded the place.
I went back to reception, however there was not a holiday rep in sight and the receptionist was either unwilling or incapable of helping with the problem.
In desperation we called the tour operator national call centre and explained the problem requesting a move and the reasons why and in fairness an hour later we were picked up and delivered to Zone 5 which was slightly quieter. The pool at Zone 5 is the best, however with only 27 sun beds and about 250 people trying to use it you invariably had to leave your belongings on the floor only for people with wet feet to tread on them. The pools at Zone 4 and 3 were less than appealing with clinically obese families more interested in admiring each others tattoos and body piercing and drinking vast amounts of lager rather than swimming.
If you like chips then you are in luck, as chips come with everything. The food was very poor and the difference between a spaghetti bolognaise and a chilli con carne was 5 kidney beans and a tea spoon of en cona hot chilli sauce. They both came with chips. The service was OK but bordering upon surly.
The tribute bands (Abba, Take That) in the evening were a good way to occupy the children, however once you got them home and tucked them up in bed they were quite often woken up in the early hours of the morning by families shouting, screaming and arguing through too much drink.
The beach at Son Bou is beautiful and great for children however it becomes absolutely jam packed. Also it is 17 euros a day to hire 2 sun loungers and a tired umbrella.
In closing, if you are not too fussed about the quality or size of your accommodation, like chips as your main meal, can consume huge quantities of alcohol without vomiting in the swimming pool then this resort is ideal for you.

We thought the entertainment at Zone 5 bar was better than ours so went there some nights. The shows were soundalikes of groups. If you liked them they were on another night at the Copacabana bar in Son Bou. Which we were going to nearly every night.
Food in our zone 3 restaurant quite nice. Varied menu.Half board option available for about 15.50 Euro a day excl. drinks but 2nd drink free. Did not use bar/pool as found entertainment organiser a bit loud for out tastes. Unfortunately our accomodation was almost directly opposite and found it a bit noisy.
Fortunately had a front and back balcony so could move to other balcony where quieter.Apartment fantastically equipped full cooker with oven, electric kettle and toaster.
Also ironing board and iron in cupboard. Have never had such a range of equipment, saucepans etc provided in other holiday lets. Fans over beds and in large kitchen/lounge were great help as it was hot.
Lovely and spacious rooms. Newly painted but some tiles in bathroom were cracked and toilet seat losing its colour round edges. Lighting a bit dim for reading at night also no bedside lights.
We were both sorry we had not booked for two weeks. Did not rate the trips we went on very highly apart from visit to a Fiesta.
Maid service was regular. Reception service was very helpful. Would recommend hotel but resort of Son Bou is very small.

Staff were helpful and entertainment (aimed at Kids) was easy to watch. A little worried about the Resort based on previous reports, however, it is close to shops, bars and restaurants and far enough away not to be bothered by them. We went with a 2 year old and a 6 month old. The whole time the staff was helpful. I phoned up 2 days before we travelled just to make sure there was a cot bed and they organised it for us. No trouble.
We went off peek, so no problems for beds around the pools. On peek will be a different story. There are different areas to stay at and you need to find your feet and the best pool.
All in all, I recommend that you go there; we did it as a cheep last minute deal and were pleasantly surprised.

Zone 3 is the closest to the beach zone 4 right in the middle next to the water slides, the pool there is the deepest and the best they do charge about 3€ for the sunbeds but its worth it.
The bar at this pool also serves food (very good) and has the best entertainment at night there is also an Internet bar here to keep the kids amused at night. Zone 5 is the longest walk to the beach (about 10 - 15 Min's) but its all flat so not a bad walk.
The apartments were all well equipped with everything you need for cooking. The maids came every other day to change the towels and bedding was changed twice a weeks so that was good.
All in all the place was great.

The entertainment we went to was provided by a private bar located in the center of the complex, and can be described only as excellent, a variety of shows changing nightly, from singers, dancers and breath taking acrobats.
Our apartment was basic yet more than adequate, with a good range of utensils in the kitchen and ceiling fans in every room.
As for noise We were lucky with our apartment but this could have been a little noisey had we been situated nearer the reception or entertainment areas.
We intend to return this year (2007)

| said: After arriving on an early flight from Gatwick we had to wait a couple of hours before we could get into our apartment because they don't have to be vacated until midday on the day of departure and you can rarely get in before 1.30 pm on changeover day. It wasn't a problem as we had a hire car anyway and we just spent the next couple of hours on the beach.
First impressions of the complex and apartment were very good. The complex is attractively landscaped with the apartments set out in staggered rows. We were allocated a 2-bedroom first floor frontline apartment in zone 5 with uninterrupted views across the reeds to the beach and sea. One of the best things about the apartment were the balconies. For sun-worshippers, the position of the apartments means the big front balcony gets the sun all day. If you fancy some shade the 2nd smaller covered balcony at the back provides exactly that.
Inside, the apartment was clean and tidy and what you would expect for a 2 key apartment with the usual basic furniture and the usual single and not particularly comfortable beds. The single beds in the smallish second bedroom were not really big enough for most adults in my opinion and would only really be suitable for children. If there are more than 2 adults in the party, I would definitely consider booking a 3-bedroom apartment instead as the beds in those are all full-sized with decent sized bedrooms.
The kitchen area had a fridge/freezer, electric toaster and kettle and a calor gas oven with 3 rings and grill. A box of matches and a cigarette lighter for the oven were provided. There was also lots of cupboard space and plenty of crockery and utensils so eating in is a viable option if you want to. The apartment also had it's own water heater so there was always a constant supply of hot water on demand. The big ceiling fan/lights in every room were also welcome and did a good job of keeping the rooms cooler in the 30 degree celsius temperatures we had most days.
The apartments are also well-maintained - a blown living room light bulb was replaced within 2 hours of us reporting it and I can testify that the smoke detector actually works after inadvertantly testing it with my fairly dire cookery skills one day.
Son Bou is a nice enough resort with a decent beach but there really isn't much else to recommend about the resort other than that and I would definitely recommend hiring a car at least for a few days to explore the rest of this lovely island. To sum up, we had a very enjoyable holiday and would be very happy to return to the San Jaime.

| said: Arrived at apartments and from what I had heard had expected apartments to be out-dated but this wasn't the case, apartments were clean and what I would expect for the money I had paid. Not 5 star but spacious even though we were a family of 5.
We were placed in zone 3 overlooking the play area which was great for my 7 year old but not so good for my 2 year old who kept on running off down the hill to join her!
Pool was also very close and plenty of sunbeds even for you late risers! We never got down to the pool until at least 11am and there was always plenty of beds.
Entertainment of an evening was best at Club San Jaime which is privately run(still on complex) and the bar is open until approximately 2am.The maze is great, I went with my 7 year old and several others to it when they had a lord of the rings night on and i had a scream!!
Well worth a visit, characters chasing you round in the dark, definitely brings out the kid in you!
Recommend the copocabana for a night out, waiter on skates, whizzes around with your kids! Scary for me but the kids loved it!
Hawaiian bar for the cocktails, there great.
Over all we had a great holiday, the beach was spot on, we were in zone 3 and it was about 5-10 Min's walk, would go back again possible at the end of season as I could have a bit of a lie in and still get a sunbed!

| said: Having just returned today from this hotel, I feel that I have to write a review.
On entering the apartment that we were allocated, it was musty and damp smelling, so much so that I did not put any of our clothes in the wardrobe(as this was worse), I left them in the spare bedroom which smelled a touch fresher. The main bedroom smelled of urine and the mattresses were stained and looked dirty and the furnishings in the seating part of the apartment were stained and burned with cigarette ends. We had an infestation of ants all over the kitchen work surfaces yesterday (11th)which was so bad that my partner went to the supermarket to buy some ant killer - which took hours to work as more ants kept on coming through holes under the work surfaces. We were told by the girl in the supermarket not to enter the room for a few hours and not to let my son breathe it in.
A lot of the apartments are let to the Spanish people, and at 5am this morning(12th) 4 men and 2 women went into the apartment above ours and were shouting and screaming and seemingly having a great time. When two of the men left later on, they proceeded to urinate in the gardens in full view of the apartments.
The staff we came into contact with were pleasant enough, the entertainment left a bit to be desired. The gardens were tidy but the bedding was only changed once in the week we were there. There were not enough sunbeds for holidaymakers.
I would not recommend this complex to anyone and I certainly will not be going back.
The phrase 'you only get what you pay for'comes to mind, but when I pay over £800 for 1 weeks self catering, I certainly expect better than the San Jaime Complex.

| said: We stayed in the hotel Son Bou Gardens it was a late booking as our original holiday was changed at the last minute.
The apartments[zone 4] are two up and we were on the top,set in nice gardens. We had a sea view although most of the view was of other apartments. The apartment was clean but the kitchen area is in need of updating, although every thing you need is there including a steam iron and an ironing board. The bed linen was changed once a week and towel's twice a week[not enough for the bed linen]. We never ate at the poolside as we found the prices to be expensive and prefferred to eat in our room for b/fast and lunch. Evening meals varied from the usual chips/ burgers/ chicken to local fish dishes. As everywhere, you get what you pay for.
There are three pools, 2 smaller ones where the lounger's were free if you could find one!
The main pool is lovely but they will charge you 4.5 euros per person per day for a lounger and no umbrellas were available, I don't know why. Next to the main pool is a large water slide which charges 2 euros for 2 slides or 6 euros for 10 slides. If you have a few kids with you it can work out very expensive. We took our own umbrella and cushions to lie on and saved a fortune.
The local Spanish school children use the slides and pools on week days [not all week] so it can get very noisy and busy.
The beach is a 10 minute walk from our apartment and was lovely, warm water, which is waist deep for a good 300 meteres approx with a great breeze. The down side being the cost of two loungers and an umbrella's being 17 euros per day, so be warned. With the cost of the beach and pool loungers the cost could go up £150 and more.
It may sound like I am going on about money all the time but when you go self catering most of the budget should be for food and entertainment not loungers.
The entertainment was mostly tribute bands and most of them were really good and the younger kids enjoyed the magic show. Older children were not so impressed, mine was 12 and did not enjoy the shows that much.
The staff were friendly and worked hard all day, one draw back was my husband was at the bar having a beer and was given half a bowl of nuts then asked to pay 1.5 euros. When he pointed out to the waiter that a Spanish chap had been given 2-3 bowls of nuts at no charge he was told that he was to busy to charge the Spanish chap!!!!!!. It seems routine practice to charge the British for some thing which is complementary to the locals.
The reception was helpful. I found it a little unnerving that the place is so big and the apartments have no phones in them if you have very old or young with you and they become ill during the night then its a long treck to get help.
I did enjoy the holiday but would reconsider going self catering in the future.

| said: We found this accommodation to be ideal for families all main rooms had ceiling fans which were definitely appreciated. The kitchen area had every thing you needed except for microwave which could be hired. Second room was small but big enough for two children. Plenty of towels linen changed enough and apartment was clean. Wardrobes were fab enough storage to empty all my suitcases and we had a lot!
Situated in zone 3 opposite park which was great could sit and read whilst watching the children playing.
Maybe July/Aug might be different but we found pool area big enough and never had a problem with sunbeds although some friends found this difficult in zone 5 pool. This pool was lovely for smaller kids but not a lot of space to sit.
We loved San Jaime and would def go again

| said: This complex is split into zones from 1-5, there are receptions at zones 3 and 5. We stayed in zone 4.
The apartment was very clean, with towels changed twice and bedding once (we stayed for 1 week). The staff where very friendly, and helpful.
We took a holdhall for swimming kit for our arrival as the appartments are available at different times, this is understandable, as some change over days are really busy, if rooms not ready you can leave cases in reception and change in the toilets, although I do beleive a room is available. We were lucky as are room ready half an hour after arrival.
Half board very reasonable, we choose to eat out which was a bit expensive, although the restaurant at the complex in the main area is excellent. Sun beds limited at zone 5 swimming pool, but if you don't mind paying a small fee for a sun bed then the pool under seperate management at the maize/water chutes is very good, plus if you eat a snack at the restaurant then you get your money back.

| said: We really enjoyed this holiday, and you could say it was partly due to the position of our apartment.
Zone 3, with the pool/restaurant on our left and a play area almost in front of us. We were comfortable letting the kids go to both on their own, as they were close. It's also handy as from our apartment you could put the kids to bed and still enjoy the entertainment from a comfortable distance.
However the entertainment was at times a bit naff, with the bar closing at 11.00/11.30pm- which was a bit early for us! There is more entertainment in the main bit and better quality too. It also goes on for a bit longer!
The staff were great, with fantastic English and very well mannered.
The beach was a 5-10 minute walk and worth it too.
Inflatables, buckets, balls, etc are always left around and handed over to people when others are going home- so don't be shy in asking and taking (within reason of course!!). The kids normally share really well, as everything was almost given to them and will be left at the end!!
The rooms were pretty reasonable, with 2 bedrooms, a balcony at the front and back and kitchen (with a proper oven and toaster!) and comfy seating area. Oh tables and chairs too inside and out! Microwaves could be hired along with pushchairs, umbrellas and many other things that I can't remember!
The option to go half board was available, daily at 15 Euros for adults and 7 for kids. That included breakfast and either lunch or dinner. It sounds a lot but to be honest when we calculated it all, we would have saved doing that!

Spent most of the time at the San Jamie club pool which was about 5 minutes walk and then a further 10 minutes at the beach.
Zone 5 restaurant was great to eat out in and so was the San Jamie club - to be honest everywhere we ate was great.
I had imagined it being quite a trek to the beach but it was a nice walk in the sun really.

| said: Stayed in the San Jaime complex (zone 5) the furthest part from the beach (10 mins walk). Apartment lovely and clean. Bedding changed twice weekly, towels every other day.
Took the self catering option but you can buy a half board ticket daily if you wish. We did try the half board option but although the adults get a 3 course meal they don't tell you that the children only get 2 courses. Apart from that the food was good.
The best entertainment was actually in the San Jaime club with something different every night. The waiters at the club worked very hard and where very pleasant.
Only problem going in October is that the resort in closing down for the season (which the reps failed to mention). Towards the end of the holiday part of the complex (e.g.: supermarket, flumes, San Jaime club/pool) had shut down so we ended up going into Son Bou itself (most of that had shut down also). Would definitely go back again as we had a great holiday - maybe try the summertime next time when everything is open.

Staff very pleasant and extremely helpful, more so in 2nd week when they got to know us.
Entertainment consisted of a mini disco for children at approx. 2030hrs every night;and then a variety of acts each week.Bar shut at approx.2300hrs every night and lights turned off at 2400hrs. This meant that for people with young children they were not being kept awake with the noise.
Most people when leaving, drop things like lilo's,beach mats, umbrellas, books and various toys outside the Kids Club(next to sub-aqua club). Always worth having a look every couple of days.

| said: We stayed in the part near the mushroom pool. Getting a sun bed was a nightmare to say the least, there was not enough to meet demands. At night the staff chain and lock them up 'till about 9.00 the following day!! Then if you are not in the que to have one allocated to you you've had it bearing in mind this was early september, I would not like to be there july/august or school hols. Other than this there was nothing to complain about, we spent most of the time on the grass outside the apt. chasing after our 2 year old. The property was very clean and the staff were very good. Our son's teddy got scooped up in his bed sheets by accident and we asked at reception, never expecting to see it again but they found it and came chasing after us in the laundry van as we were leaving on the coach!!!! I would recomend the complex to familes and would go again.

The pool area was clean to my standard but if it isn't then there are 2 other pools in 1 min walking distance.
The rep that we had was very helpful all the way through the holiday and she told us the best beaches to go to and bars, restaurants.

| said: Okay, just got back, great time, great weather
Anyway, The San Jaime (pronounced Hi-Me) complex consists of both Son Bou gardens and the San Jaime complex.
San Jaime is Thomson/Skytours etc and Son Bou Gardens is First Choice etc. This is when it gets kinda complicated as from what I could pick up San Jaime is Zone 3 and 5, zone 3 being nearer the beach and the 'busier' of the 2 zones, we where in zone 5 (and although it only take 15 mins to the beach, its a struggle at 35C and carrying bags etc) Zone 3 has the 'Mushroom' swimming pool and zone 5 has the rectangular pool you see in the skytours brochure.
Son bou gardens is mostly Zone 4 and 6, 6 being even further from the beach, as you have to walk around the protected marsh land even though you can see the beach from your balcony.
Most of the entertainment takes place in Zone 4, which is the main stage and bar (Beer is a little dearer here though) which is different every night, starting at 10pm
You have a mini disco for the kids at 7.30pm at the Zone 5 Bar (Il Gondeliere) then some relaxing music etc
You then have the same mini disco at the Zone 3 restaurant at 8.30, followed by things like clowns, magicians, hypnotist, bingo etc.
San Jaime half board guest can eat at either the Zone 5 or 3 Restaurants, but not the the Zone 4 restaurant.
All in all I would highly recommend this resort and complex if you have kids aged between 3 and 12

We hope it will be as enjoyable as the last time, staff were all very friendly and our appartment was clean and tidy.
We are hoping to stay in the same zone as before near the Gondelier restaurant. Is that zone 3 or 5?
The entertainment in the main area was very good and the pools were very clean.

Receptionists, Staff and Reps (chris, c.j & sue) were perfect and worked really hard for everyone.
Son Bou itself was nice although for the size of the beach there wasn't an awful lot, beach was good as was the sea.
Eating out ? try Las Dunas, friendly service, great food, and good prices, highly recommended

| said: We stayed in Zone 4 in the Son Bou Gardens part of the San Jaime Complex (2.8.02). We were pleased with the apartment and the second bedroom was a godsend (no put you up beds!). The apartments were sufficiently furnished and clean. The only problem were the ants!!!
We used the pool by the main bar. You have to pay 3.5 Euros per sunbed, but you can turn up at almost anytime and get a bed. No 8 'O' clock start for the beds! My eldest loved the water slide - 4.5 Euros for 10 goes. The food on the complex is more expensive and the menu is limited. The entertainment is first class, beatles, beach boys and four tops tribute bands. They brought the house down. The entertainment starts about 10.30 pm and lasts for about 1 hour. The waiters were friendly and always managed to find us a table, especially Antonio.
Son Bou itself is fairly small and very family orientated. There is a good selection of restaurants - Boni's is wonderful, Arthurs and the Hong Kong Chinese were also very good and the new Compostela restaurant is very good with lovely views of the sunset. At most of the restaurants a meal for 2 adults and 2 children cost on average about 50 Euros.
We will be returning!!!! Our best holiday yet!!!!

| said: Have stayed at the Son Bou Gargen Apartments with my family for the last 4 years. In my opinion this is one of the best locations on the island. Accomodation has no frills, but is clean and comes with everything you will need. Surrounding gardens are very pretty and well maintained. If you are not an early riser, then visit the biggest of the three pools if you require a sunbed, however there is a daily charge per bed of 3.5 euros. Food at the San Jaime Complex is good but the menu is a little limited. Children will be happy if the like chips, otherwise you may have a problem. The evening entertainment is varied and OK but starts a little late at 10.00pm, especially if you have young children. There are several bars and restaurants in the nearby commercial area. I recommend Boni's as a really nice place to eat. This is a family run business with excellent food and friendly service. It's worth visiting one of the beach bars in the evening. Their food is a little more expensive but the appeal of sitting at the bar watching the sun go down, while sipping a glass of Sangria is unbeatable. Once you visit Son Bou, you will want to return.

| said: We travelled in June 2002 (during the coach strike). When we arrived we thought oh no holiday from hell. Far from it, in fact all the reps were really helpful and collected us all from the airport in their own cars and took us to our acocmodation.
The accomodation itself was spacious, but was in need of slight attention, but was clean. The facilities on the complex were very good, with nightly entertainment, kids clubs, poolside bars etc and very close to the beach. The kids maze was excellent.
The beach is fantastically clean and a very large one at that. We did however, find that with young children it was too hot to go the beach until 3pm.
The local bars and restaurants were excellent with a good selection of menus and plenty for kids and was in very close walking distance from the complex. (Joe's bar is a must)
This complex was recomended by a neighbour who goes every year and we would certainly go again. A great holiday was had by all. Great for kids.
