Hola everyone here goes...

Flights and airport...

Manchester airport...great no delays lovely flight...and got to go in cockpit and was speaking to the woman co pilot she was very glam...and the pilot was so funny..

Malaga Airport. arrive..

Absolute nightmare...... The longest walk to baggage and not so long wait for our cases, my mum had a wheelchair, and told the assistance after cases were picked up we will not need chair to go to coach transfer....BUT oh dear we did ...again another mile treak through the new terminal building T3....!!!! to the indoor coach pick up point it was complete madness..no one knew where to go, and were moaning about the new set up...nice Terminal but to big and confusing...My mum was so tired bless her.

Arrive Angela hotel....

Quite a few got off coach were staying here..young ones, couples and oldies, reception guy recognised me straight away, and honured our room request, hols he said we have given you 2 of the best rooms with full sea views pool,. and mountains, off we trot to the 8th floor, rooms 820 and 822, WOW, cant believe what view we had its was just stunning, porter brought cases up about 15 mins later, had a look around the room, yes there is some modernisation to be done but only a few tweeks, tv too small and old fashioned a few english channels, but to be honest I was sick of seeing heartbeat every single day, and ofcourse we never really want to sit in our room with so much to do outside..

Staff and Waiting staff... drinks food.

Staff All I can say is what a lovely bunch of hardworking folk,a BIG thank you to Jose..:O great banter, and wicked happy hour till 11.30pm, sometimes free drinks to us...they really do deserve alot of credit...even the maids.

Drinks prices for a hotel are really reasonable, for example, wine glass of red..2.00euro, and thats a large glass, nice sangria also.

Food..

Breakfast, an array of choice nice hash browns, english and great cakes and pastries,, 2 minors though..pate was not so good, and the milk was warm, reason why I never had cereal.but my choice every morning I had brown toast, tomatoes...yummy, and omlettes, mushroom, ham or ask for plain made there in front of you..

Coffee bland and not so good, but there pineapple juice was nice..

Would of liked a better pate to have on my toast though.

Dinner

Everynight the 1st week we loved, but 2nd week same again so ate out 4 nights.

Choice of

Carvery - Pork, lamb (tough) Beef, Then grilled chicken breasts pork steaks, loads of fish, croquettes, paella, chips, roasts mash, other potatoes, risotto, pasta and lasagne, other rice dishes, mushrooms, veg, array of salads, sardines, anchovies, everything, desserts were nice but im not an dessert person,,soups were gorgous
italian night ladies get a carnation..!!!

entertainment....

upstairs bar singers different every night, one girl, had a better voice than any x factor singer goin,,,wasted at the hotel...she was amazing..phoebe is her name.. relaxed atmosphere...

Sunbathing, pool

We bathed on the terraced every other day, and beach every other day, 4.50 euro for bed and umbrella...thank you to angela who owns the beds on the beach lovely spanish lady who remembers us every year, we got her a birthday card and gave her 20 euros, she is gunna be 63 next week,

los boliches,fuengirola and area....

Los boliches where we were is still amazing, alot quieter in the bars, spoke a few people who own them said its been hard with the rain, volcanic cloud, and holiday companies goin bust..

Bars we liked and were frequent were..

Living room...Great new bar lovely exterior and interior owner great and met a lovely polish woman who Im gunna keep in contact with she worked there and was good friends with the owner..
Bar one went one night for sangria..
Kasa Kon Tiki my fave place for fish, chips and mushy peas,. and great prawns pil pil, you buy a meal or 2 or 3, and get the lower price free..very popular and busy
Gordos
Very nice owner and amazing food, big portions, went twice for lunch.

Upper crust

Same as usual ok, but they need to up the menu not much choice apart from, sandwiches, jackets, salads, burgers, dont know why he doesnt sell chicken, with salads, and butties, only egg, ham, cheese..i wanted a chicken salad..strange...cheap though got bored of goin to be honest...no variety.....also didnt do any wraps, and salads not much on them apart from onion cucumber and lettuce..no carrot or anything else.

El patio
Great tapas as usual

Las Jardines

Very cheap tapas place behind mercodona, 1 euro for cana, tapa, very nice

Never went to manilla,, heard its gone down hill..

Walked up to los boliches church, took some pics, wedding goin on, wanted tapas at pepes....and it was CLOSED till september....gutted.

Had a wander in the yaramar hotel, and found a beach with canopes for 30 euros very marbella/puerto banus, you get a posh big bed, wirth towels and a bottle of cava...wanted to do his but my sister said waste of money...they looked great only english using them.
Walked to fuengirola town, to do some clothes / shoe shopping stopped at bar plaza, still amazing packed, and scenic, went for lunch in adrians on fish alley, owner was saying again that its been hard and very quiet, and he has not dropped his prices but to be honest it was still reasonable,

Got the bus back from town to the angela.

Went to marbella

Long bus journey again stopping at 100 stops, packed to the rafters, wish they would put more buses on for this journey 1 every 30 mins is rubbish, it was a dull day till 11ish when arrived it was boiling hot, we wandered down to the prom side, had beers a very nice bar on ther front, then headed back to the centre and found jimmys of marbella, in a lovely little square. had lovely lunch there owner was lovely, lots of americans in on a cruise from gibraltar, we were planning orange sq for tapas, but my mum has a bad leg, and was finding it a little hard.so we headed back after lunch to the bus stop, for another lenghy bus journey back to fuengirola.

Never did mijas this year, malaga (the feria was on was gutted go every year normally) as my mum, and sister both have artheritis so Its was restricting us to go about different places...next year Il be with my boyfriend again so will do all these things...

Weather was great, But have noticed alot of cloud till 11, rain ,and 1 big thunderstorm, which last year we never had, 100 degrees last year, this 80s-90s...still beautiful, but I do like it hot hot...

Currency
Getting around 17.5 - 19.5 in the travel agent near Wam store, trips still reasonable the express to Gib is still 15euros,

I would still reccomend the trains they are great frequent and cheap...

So all in all a great time had by us 3 nice dark tans, and few extra pounds put on.., a few minors, like malaga airport, and days out, due to restrictions cos of my mum,and sister but thats not fuengirolas fault...next year I will be booking in an apartment in centre with my boyfriend...as we do love that area, plus I found supermarkets dirt cheap, and you have more variety to eat what you want..

For anyone going do enjoy, as much I was did...its still amazing...a big place in my heart....:O)

Great hotel across the road from the beach, we emailed for a room on the pool side, got one, these rooms have a better view, the other side of the hotel is down a side street and facing an another hotel, the rooms are not very large, but big enough, 2 big wardrobes, free safe, pool towels, kettle with tea and coffee provided each day, free aircon which was much needed and a fridge which you have to pay for, 16 euros for the week. The food at breakfast was excellent and plentiful, food at the evening was quite good and plenty to choose from, you would have to be a really fussy eater to say you didn't like anything. Entertainment each night, which I can't comment on, (went out at night) but it seem to suit the older clientle, who made up the majority of the guests, but it is an adults only hotel, my son who is 18 didn't find it a problem, it was quite nice not to have children running about. I would go back to this hotel anytime, thought it was excellent and really enjoyed our stay there.

very close to the sea BUT very noisy, window is left open at night balcony sliding doors are not good at keeping noise out. very noisy outside, lots of traffic and a LOT of people, staying out until god knows what time in the morning, then if you manage to get to sleep the cleaners wake you up early in the morning making a LOT of noise, me and my girlfriend could only get up for dinner once because we were so tired and could not get to sleep.

i did notice the pool water was murky, and very cold, sure it's hot outside but when you get in it's hardly refreshing it's just really cold,

the entertainment was very boring, like when you go on holiday with your nan when you are young and you end up falling asleep, it almost put me to sleep. it's all aimed at much older people.

there was a few young couples at the hotel, all looking confused and out of place, the old people wanted us to act all mature and one old man had a go at me for not using a napkin when i scratched my nose.

the old people were actually the ones making all the noise, laughing hysterically by the pool keeping everyone awake for about an hour, there is also meant to be a silence after 11pm rule which no one abides to, the corridors are noisy when everyone comes back from their night out, shouting and making noise, and if you like the sound of furniture being moved around on the floor all day and all night this is for you, if you like senile grumpy old people who poke their noses in things which should not concern them then this is for you, also don't expect to get any sleep.

my girlfriend found a stain on the sheet, the hair dryer didn't work it just got hot and we smelt burning so we turned it off, there was a hair on her pillow too when we got there.

the cleaners don't have any respect for people who DON'T want to get up early, they just make a lot of noise, with their mouths and cleaning.

and you also have to pay 16 euro just to hire a very small fridge for a week, the water and other drinks are ridiculously expensive.

when we arrived i had a number for room service, instead the number was for reception. so i rang the other number and ordered something from the menu and they didn't even have it! the cards were out of date and the woman hardly understood me i was asking for steak and she said omlette.

so that's all the bad things i can think of, not bad for the money but not four star, if this review was written on Thomson they wouldn't have allowed it.

the gate on our plane ticket on the way back said gate B and on the departure screen it said C, it was very confusing and there was no thomson rep present to help, all this stuff about we're here to help all the time blah blah, its rubbish.

the good things are good view of sea even in limited sea view hotel, beach is very close and lovely, food in restaurant is great and im quite fusyy but enjoyed a lot of it, quite close to a water park but DONT get the stupid tourist train you will pay 4 euro to go on a train located at a train stop littered in advertisements for the waterpark and it doesnt go there, it just goes around in a circle at 2mph and is a waste of money. and dont bother trying to find the bus stop because it isnt marked with a bus stop sign but the old one is, we had to walk there.

you can walk to the zoo its not too far away but its expensive and they try to sell you a photo of yourself. lots of cool things to see though

the water park is a ripoff, forgotten how much to get in, but you have to pay for a sunbedm pay for a rubber ring, pay A LOT for food, pay for a basket for your clothes, pay to use a locker.

if you like getting ripped off go to spain, and did i mention the amount of black people selling sunglasses and handbags> you can't move at night there are thousands of people, the spanish there are ignorant, don't indicate, very pushy on the road and when serving you in the store, its just take your money and go.

sorry for the long rant i am an 18 year old male i travelled with my 18 year old girlfriend
and the good outweighed the bad we would not return, and you would not find a review on the thomson website which said we would not return they wont allow it.

food good
beach good
zoo good
shopping centre good
water park good
pool good

just find another hotel and another part of spain if you dont want to sleep and want to get ripped off

The comments on this hotel are totally biased, we met many people of all age groups( this is a adult only hotel) from 20 to 70's, everyone we met were very friendly and enjoyed their holiday, not everyone stayed in the hotel at night but ventured out to the many bars and restaurants in the Fuengirola area.

The food choices were excellent ie., paela, sea bass, salmon, steak, chicken, roast beef & yorkshire pud., many starters and sweets and a good variety of fresh fruit and cheeses to choose from.

There is a free safe in the room and a fridge that will cost 15 euros per week should you wish to use it.

The area around the pool is limited to approx., 20 sunbeds, but during my stay people did not stay on them all day, we went out after breakfast for a walk along the seafront to the harbour area and when we returned after lunch there was always a bed that someone gave up, we don't go on holiday to lie on a sunbed allday it's nice to visit the zoo, Gibralta and visit the many shops along the area. Go and judge for yourself and don't be a victim of ageism whether your young or old we enjoyed everyones company.

This Hotel is well situated in Fuengirola and ideal for walking the large prom. The food was very good, although they could have made a few more choices with the salad (tuna, sardines etc)
Cleanliness of the inside of the hotel was very good, however, the pool and pool area was in a disgusting state. Our neighbours had complained about the colour of the water in the pool some 9 days before our arrival, and cleaning had been done within the next 2 days. This was fine for a further 2 days, but the pool was not unlike a watery milk colour. I did not see the pool or pool area cleaned in the week that we stayed there. Sunbeds were at a minimum, and we only managed to get the use of them on a single occasion. Towels were placed on sunbeds as soon as the doors were opened at 09.00. Despite complaints to the Thomson rep, this kept happening on a daily basis. As this was an all British customer basis, the German's couldn't be blamed!
The entertainment was poor, but at 49 and 54 years of age, we would possibly enjoy more in about 15 - 20 years time!
Hotel staff on the whole were polite, especially the room cleaners. The Matradee was a miserable so and so, but the 2 head waiters were very good. All of the female restaurant staff were excellent and couldn't do enough for you.
We have been enjoying 4 star accomodation for about 20 years now and have never criticised the rating. However, because of the outdoor cleanliness, along with the very small bathing area and pool, I don't think this hotel deserves it's rating. We called into the hotel's sister hotel, the Yaramar, some 100 yards away, and this very much deserved it's 4 star rating.
I was also disappointed to see just how crammed in everything was, so my lesson learnt is to book in future worthy hotels of either 4 star or Gold ratings at either the Balearics or Canaries. My first time to mainland Spain was not a memorable one and we will not be returning again. The weather however could not be faulted. At 32c - 36c everyday, it made for a good time.
One other thing I would like to point out is the "free" safety deposit box that the Thomson reps continually mention. That's fine, but what they don't tell you is the fridge cost's you the same as what a safety deposit box would at other hotels.
Our trip to Gibraltar was very enjoyable. Unfortunately the speel that the rep gave us about shopping in Gibraltar wasn't exactly true. With promises of huge savings on tobacco, spirits, jewellery and perfumes, we were very surprised to see that bar tobacco, prices were much the same at many of the popular supermarkets back in the UK and also back at the resort. Although tobacco was cheap, you are only allowed 200 cigarettes or 250 gramms of tobacco, so the savings are at a bare minimum.
I also noticed the this hotel is not really for wheel chair access. The extremely steep ramp to the hotel was virtually impossible for the elderly to push up and assistance was often sought from either staff or friendly guests. The downstairs entertainment area and the small garden area could not be accessed.

Do not stay in this hotel unless you are 60+, its like a retirement home/morgue.

If someone offered me this hotel for £100 for a week, I definately wouldnt bother. (let alone the £1000 we payed)

The entertainment/everything is aimed at 60+

The staff are miserable

The only plus's are:

1)This hotel is clean

2)The food is ok

3)Excellent sea view from balcony

The pool was filthy(like swimming in milk) very small and in a bad state of dis-repair

We are in our mid twenty's and felt totally out of place, it was so bad we had to laugh rather than cry.

the fridges dont work.

the entertainment is shockingly bad picture OAP's ballroom dancing to 'show me the way to amarillo' and i dont mean the peter kay version...

there are plenty more negative things i could say about this hotel but i wont waste another second of my life thinking about this hotel..

If you have already booked, try your best to change hotels or do what we did go out all day and all night.

fuengirola isnt the best resort, its a bit tacky benalmadena is much better, mijas is quite good, puerto banus is excellent but expensive

recomend a trip to gibraltar

Las gaviotas restaurant is up the coast to the west, very nice food there.

Good luck.

most parts of hotel very clean, however the pool let it down it was disgusting scum collected in the corner and the water was cloudy the rep said this was because people was not showering before they went in pool, but i have been to many hotels and never seen this before also the tiles around the pool were broken and dirty i did complain about this whilst there but nothing changed.
food not bad but not great
the staff were not the friendliest i say i would visit this hotel again because the rep told me they were supposed to be doing the pool up dont know when thats when i would consider going back not before

We stayed at the Hotel Angela and could not fault anything but the entertainment which was for an older generation and we are in our fifties. Bingo everynight and swing music!!!!
The staff from the cleaners, reception, dining and bar were great - friendly and very professional. Allison was lovely. The maintenance man had the patience of a saint - changed our fridge three times and opened the safe for us. Thomson reps 24/7 excellent friendly informative
The rooms were very clean, towels and sheets changed every day. Shampoo etc, kettle with tea, coffee etc all stocked up daily. Air cond too. Pool area, garden and sunbathing areas full but always enough sunbeds. Food was great loads of variety and loads of it.
The hotel location is across the the road from a very clean beach. Had a good holiday.

My husband and I booked the Angela to concide with our 30th wedding anniversary, we couldn't have chosen better.

The location of the hotel is ideal right opposite a sandy beach and the prom which is ideal for walking along after the hearty meals at the hotel.

The staff are first class and are always having a laugh and joke with everyone, we ordered wine with our meal the 1st night and did not realise we had to pay on leaving the resturant, on our next evening meal the matrie de informed us we had an outstanding bill to pay, '3 ways to pay' he said, 'cash when meal finished at till at door, charge to room or 3rd option I call police' this is the sought of banter they have with you. We ate out on our actual anniversary and the following evening when the staff realised we were celebrating we were given a free bottle of sparkling wine on the house.

If you are thinking of going to this hotel dont hesitate to book. Mainly old folk who go again year after year, dont let this put you off they are a good lot and a good laugh, we were in bed before most of them!!!!!!

Our 8th visit to Fuengirola and our second visit to this hotel. Spotlessly clean, staff very friendly and helpful. The food is very good and there is such a huge choice at each meal there is always something for even the fussiest of eaters. The hotel mainly caters for the older end who go back year after year and are highly satisfied and get very good value for money. In the cooler months of the year it is best to ask for a room on the "sunny side" of the hotel if you like to sit out on the balcony in the late afternoon. All in all a very good holiday in a very good hotel.

Bed and breakfast is a better option if you can get around the resort as plenty of good restaurants.

Public areas and room very clean although hotel is looking a little run down in places. Free safe and hairdryer in room. Fridge available on payment of small supplement. All rooms (excepting for 2 which have a full sea view and are on every floor)have a side sea view. There are 9 floors. Try to book a room near the front of the hotel and on the south side if you prefer the sun on an afternoon. Rooms at the rear are noisy from the bin men on a morning.

Good choice of food for breakfast with eggs freshly cooked. Plenty of choice for dinner but similar most nights with no live cooking. Meat quality could have been better but there was usually something for everyone's taste.

My husband and I are both in our sixties and we were young by comparison to the other guests. Great hotel if you are less mobile as the facilities do cater for the elderly and less mobile. Youngsters beware if you are going out of season!!! Entertainment good and there is a happy hour on the sun terrace 12.30 to 1.30 and happy 2 hour in the bar 8.30 to 10.30 every day.

The great part about going this time of year is the fact that they do not allow children in this hotel. But check this with travel agent before booking. We would definitely book again but next time on bed and breakfast basis.

On booking I did read reviews about this hotel and most were advising it was more suitable for the older holiday maker and us being mid 20’s had mixed feelings on whether we had chosen the right hotel, so the run down:

Hotel Angela was very clean, maids came round every day to clean your room, and fresh towels were left if you put dirty ones on the floor.

The pool was clean – we even saw them at night checking chlorine levels etc.

There was a free deposit box and we had free use of the fridge, but you are meant to pay extra for this (we was lucky as it was not locked)

Food was superb, breakfast was full English, cereal, fruit and breads and buffet meals at night had plenty of choice with fish, meats and veggie option every night and an array of salad and fruit, it was very good.

The staff was very friendly and most make an effort to talk to you.

There was entertainment on every night, from a Comedian to Flamenco dancing and ballet, but this is were I would say it aims at the older age group. They also show a movie twice a day and Thomson offered various excursions but they do get booked up quickly!

The hotel was in easy reach of everything, plenty and I mean plenty of places to eat, it’s just across the road from the beach (try and get a sea view, although they are very limited) and I would say a good 5/10 mins walk from the shops and main bars.

Things to be aware of:

Pool – absolutely no chance of getting to sit around it if you are not there at 9am! People put their towels on them and they didn’t get removed, the pool is very small thou so there was not a lot in the first place (about 20). They have plenty of other beds in other locations, but again these would go very quickly (you would see one out of your balcony and by the time you got down it would be gone)
Bathroom didn’t have an extractor fan, defiantly needs one
No iron (didn’t advertise one)
Beds where quite hard

The worse thing for me was twice in the one week we stayed, I was woken up about 5 in the morning with a very loud noise that sounded like something from “war of the worlds”, and it really was that bad! When enquired about it, I found out it was the bin men! The noise was off the brakes on the truck, and seriously nothing can describe this noise and it goes on for about 45 mins, every time they brake! Other than this the hotel was quiet – but we did request a quiet room.

The hotel is in a very good position within the resort and we did enjoy our stay and would recommend the hotel (but not for families as there wasn’t anything to do for the children, some young girls and boys were talking to us in the lift as we arrived advising us it was for older people and to go home, as it was boring).

I would definitely go back to the hotel

We was at this hotel 4 years ago, I my opinion it has improved 100% when we arrived at the hotel there was someone there to take our cases up to our room.

The staff really very polite and helpful.

You could not fault the food plenty of choice,
the hotel is situated a short walk accross the road to a clean beach.

This was our first long stay holiday at the Angela Hotel. On arrival the reception staff were very quick at checking us in, and help was at hand with taking the cases to our room. As we entered our room we found a plate of fresh fruit, also tea, coffee and chocolate, with tea making facilitys.

The hotel cleanliness is second to none, all the public lounges and dining room were spotless. The rooms were cleaned every day, and fresh towels in the bathroom. In the dining room the choice on the menu was very good, with a good variety of hot and cold dishes.

Location of the hotel is right on the sea front and is centeral for the train and the buses, so we found this very helpful to get around. Entertainment was first class, with the variety changing every two weeks. The shows were down in the Disco, and it was not very good if you were Disabled to get down the staires. Happy Hour was three times a day, so it was worth staying in for.

As we were on a long stay we found the staff great, they found time to talk to you and would help you out if you had any problems. Isabel the PR, is a credit to the hotel, she is first class. We started Spanish lessons with her every Wednesday, so it will come in handy for next year, yes we have already booked up for next year, so roll on.

We stayed at the Angela for the first time, and found the hotel to be excellent. The only complaint we had was the food, on some nights veal was on the menu which was like leather, but apart from that the food in the hotel was very good.

There are 3 happy hours, who needs to go out), the entertainment was brilliant didn`t need to leave the hotel, a variety of acts, such as flamenco, magician, and comedian.

The swimming pool you could die for, it was like having a bath at home (it was hot)and had a cover on every night, the attendants also rearranged the furniture every night, so it was always clean and tidy.

The maids were excellent had a change of towels every day,as well as tea, coffee and milk left in the rooms.

I personally think you cant doubt the hotel in any way because everything was up to scracth no faults. The hotel staff were very friendly and help full. I am quite fusy with my eating but there was everything i didnt go a night without eating something which i enjoyed. I give credit to the chiefs and the waitreses. The cleanliness was superb the maids were great they kept everying sprkling clean. The location of Angela was greaqt there was so much to do either get the bus or train to other towns or relax with a walk along the harbour or all the way along the beach (which is the longest beach in the Costa Del Sol). All i can say about the staff is superb. Entertainment was amusing the comedian was the best but the magician and the dancing was great fun. Its a good night out. To end i would deffinetly go to the hotel Angela again it should be 5 stars.

Hotel is situated right across from the beach and 5-10 minutes from centre of resort. Los Boliches train station was a 10 minute walk with regular and efficient services to Malaga with stops at all the resorts along the way.

The bedrooms are small but compact, there are tea making facilities and free safety deposit box and you can hire a fridge for 30 euros for 2 weeks. If you do hire a fridge there is a large supermarket (Supermercado) 2 streets away from the Hotel, it was very cheap to stock up with juice and beer etc. Air conditioning was very good and had a remote control with multi functions. There was a TV which had Sky News, Eurosport and ITV News.

The food at the hotel was average, downside being lack of choice at evening meal, upside being they work on a 14 day rotation to ensure you never have the same meal twice on your holiday. They also have a weekly gala evening which during our stay was Italian and Spanish .

Although the pool was small it was never too busy. There wasn't much room available around the pool but there was a sun terrace and a small garden area down from the pool. Doors open at 9am to the pool area and a queue formed at 8.30 am onwards. Although many guests reserved sunbeds there was always beds available. Mattresses were free of charge though there was not enough for every sunbed.

There was entertainment every evening down at the disco and a man playing a keyboard in the lounge. Bar prices were reasonable with happy hour Saturday to Thursday at 8pm till 9pm.

Snack bar was also reasonable priced for lunches and drinks, they also had happy hour everyday at 12.30.

Reception staff were very knowledgeable about resort, train times etc. Maids and Bar staff were very friendly. However Dining staff were very unfriendly sometimes rude and abrupt.

We found the Hotel guests to be mainly British and couples of a mature age group ( over 60 ) with only a few younger couples and only a few families.

Overall not a bad Hotel and with a few improvements it could be a 4 star but in my opinion it really is a 3 star plus.
