Hi this was our second trip to the Sonesta, we enjoyed it so much the first time that we decided to go again. we didn't take the 3 boys with us this time as they are grown up and they where already 19 16 14 when we went last year. We had a lovely break away on our own. we were treated like royalty as it was our second trip there. We had 2 weeks of sun sand and r & r. i love this hotel and would happily go back there anytime. I can't understand why people don't like it

The hotel is in the middle of no where but that was what I wanted a weeks peace and quiet and relaxation.

The staff were all welcoming and friendly and always greeted you with a smile, they could not do enough for you.

The food could have been better but then what do you expect you are in a diferent country.

The rep was excellent wwhat ever she could do for you she would and was always on time.

We had a suite which was very spacious with wonderful views.

I have no complaints of this hotel and would recommend if you want a rest, the animation team were very friendly and we always had a laugh with them.

Hotel suite was generally clean, well furnished and well presented, the communal areas such as pathways were generally unkempt.

The hotel location was in the middle of nowhere which we had known before we went so this was OK, we had gone for a chill out holiday so the location was not a problem.

The ordinary staff at the Hotel where OK and did try and make your stay enjoyable, the problem was that the Hotel Management did not have a clue how to run a 4 star Hotel.

On several occasions the bar (if that’s what you can call it, it was a table with a few bottles on it)ran out of drinks including coke, sprite and spirits. On other occasions they ran out of glasses and we were asked to wait until others had finished drinks before we could have one.

The food was bland and repetitive but what made it worse was that it was never hot, we also witnessed food being recycled, i.e. uneaten food being taken off peoples plates and put back on/into the service dishes.
The New Years Eve “gala dinner” could only be described as a total shambles.

The First Choice rep is a complete waste of time, she does not listen to or take seriously any concerns that you might have during your stay so don’t even bother seeing her.

We will definitely not return to this hotel.

All inclusive? If you want to eat at the Oasis restaurant on the beach then there is an additional cost for this, even though you are all inclusive. You can also eat in a fish restaurant, Italian and the Fotoush restaurant, again there is an additional charge for this. The Scallini (Italian) restaurant is well worth a visit though.

The hotel is clean

The hotel food is edible, however, you need to like chicken and beef! The food is not always hot but this was addressed when we were there. The pasta station is very good and as they cook this for you it is always hot.

The location is in the middle of nowhere, you are confined to the hotel grounds as they do not encourage you to leave the boundaries of the hotel. You can go to Taba heights on a shuttle bus for £5 each, there's not much there but it's a break from the hotel.

The cleaners are very friendly, the reception staff will do their best to accomodate you if you have any issues.

The hotel room (suites) are excellent.

The animation team were always trying to get you to participate with stretching, volley ball, football, boules etc.

I would not return to this hotel again as you are completely confined to the hotel, unless you pay to go on organies trips which can be quite costly.

The Sonesta Beach Resort is a modern hotel on the beach front.

In general terms the hotel was clean but the hotel was cleaned at night and disturbed your sleep.

The food was bland and cold and there was evidence of food being recycled for future meals. Male hotel staff were seen using the toilets and returning to the restaurant without washing their hands!

The hotel is situated a £15 taxi ride away from the next habitation and on site the entertainment was virtually non existent. However the dive school do offer some reasonably priced excursions.

During our stay the hotel ran out of clean glasses and resorted to offering people beer in sherry glasses! There were a number of occasions when the hotel were not able to offer the local drinks which were part of our package.

On leaving the hotel people on the coaches were cheering.

Needless to say we will never return.

The hotel is in the middle of no way!

The food same day after day after day (rice, potatoes, chicken and beef in sauces.

The drinks order one thing and get another, the bar always ran out of glass.

Free water! you have to buy a bottles first!!

The friendly people were the cleaners, always said hello and make different in your room with towels!!!

The hotel is very attractive and bigger than I thought it would be, we went all inclusive and there was a good variety of food for all the family.

The hotel is constantly being cleaned and the floors polished over night, the rooms were cleaned daily and towels changed every day.

The location is exactly as it says in the brochure beautiful straight on the beach remote no other hotel around and you are confined to the hotel grounds.

The hotel staff are excellent the waitors, cleaners, entertainers reception staff we experienced them all with no problems.

We would definately visit this hotel in the future, without any hesitation.

I went to this hotel in 2006 and was worried before we went by some of the reviews and then there where some good ones, what can I say. We had a fantastic time we all loved the hotel and the food.

The staff are first class as was the rep from first choice. all I can say is that i can't wait for the next visit.

I sometimes wonder what people want when they are abroad if they don't want Egyptian food then stay at home.

We have just returned from the Sonesta Beach Resort in Taba - and were very impressed. We visited Sharm last September for 2 weeks and were a bit dubious after reading the reports previously posted. ( But we did this last year when we went to Sharm and could have quite easily cancelled. As it happens it turned out to be one of the best holidays we had therefore booking again this year.)

If you have booked with First Choice - Ignore the picture in the brochure - it is definately not the Sonesta in Taba - it is the Sonesta in Sharm.
Anyway the hotel - is lovely and impecably clean. There are Santising stations by the restaurants for your hands - so you dont pick up any dodgy egptian illness's. The food is good. We had a BBQ, Fajita's, Pizza selection on most days Plus a fresh pasta station were you could choose your own sauces and add to them etc. The only down side we thought was the drinks by the glass -( at Sharm we have bottles of water provided at meal times - however there was Water bottle stations to fill up your empties!) The Soft drinks are the real deal - so you can get Diet Coke, Sprite Fanta etc and they are not some copies.
The rooms are kept very clean and bedding and towels were changed every day.
The pool area was great - we never had to get up and put towels out as the hotel was near on empty so at 10am you could still get a group of sunbeds and umbrellas together

The beach are is small and is cordoned off to the locals. You will also see camels walking up and down the beach.

All in all a great holiday especially for £780 for 3 people. If you want guaranteed tropical heat ( it hit 53o everyday around the pool at 4.40) and not to far to travel - Egypt is for you and you cant go wrong at the Sonesta.

PS if you are wanting to visit Jerusalem, Petra, Jordan Cairo etc - Taba is a great base - day trips run from this hotel

The Sonesta Beach Resort in Taba is not for the faint hearted.

After arriving at this hotel we were shown to our room which could not accomadate our party 2 adults 1 child let alone swing a cat, down to reception we go and are told that we can upgrade to a corner suite for the sum of £210.00 english pounds to be paid in cash, this was duly done.

The food at this hotel was the same day in and day out with maybe the exception of one fairly good meal in seven days. We can say that the food in the Oasis bar was excellent but then you did have to pay for it. Drinks were served by the glass half of the time warm and flat(just the way they should be I do not think). The staff outside were nicer than the staff inside and the resort rep listened but really did nothing apart from fill in a report regarding our compaints from a letter that we had written to the hotel management thus just copy writing.

The entertainment of an evening begged to be beleived in as much as there really was no entertainment at all, but we will say that the animation team tried their best to include everbody that wanted to join in and made a fuss of the 4/5 children that were at this hotel.

In all this hotel does nothing at all to warrant 4/5 stars and really should be a 2/3 star, if this was our first trip to egypt then maybe we would not have known any better but after staying at the Concord in Sharm in Nov 05 and the Marriott in Taba Heights in Nov 04 we really do know a 4/5 from a 2/3 star.

To put it in a Nutshell in case you are in any doubt about the Sonesta No we would not return to this resort, but would return to Egypt.

I had a really lovely time at the Sonesta! I went in April for a cheap relaxing break away from work and thats exactly what I got!

Handy hint - I came in here before I went and saw the info about the other pool, use it!! We had it to ourselves for most of the holiday. Totally empty, we could choose which sun loungers we had anywhere we had them! The pool was fresh water compared to the main pool which was heated but it was lovely and quiet!

No need to take towels with you for the beach/pool as you are handed cards on arrival which you give in everyday to get a clean towel!

The food was ok, kind of the same most days but cant complain. Enjoyed lunch the most actually, the pizzas were lovely! When you arrive you are given a water bottle, keep it and take it with you when you go and eat as you can get it filled up again and take it back to your room.

You have a fridge so its kept nice and cold! my friend had salad and did have a bit of an strange tummy for a few days, nothing major though! She took tablets we took out with us and she was fine!

The weather and views were amazing! We had quite a few days in late 30's early 40's! boiling!

Found the evenings bit strange, not really alot to do. The bar by the beach up the stairs is a lovely way to spend the evening! Becareful about being bitten though! We put spray on as well!!

Overall a lovely holiday!

We have just returned from a wonderful chill out holiday at the Sonesta. We spent one week there just lazing by the pool, snorkeling, heading out on the pedalo etc etc
Hotel is totally fine.

Everything you would want really - clean, all facilities, decent food and the staff are very helpful and friendly. Also plenty to do during the day - aqua aerobics, boules, volleyball, "stretching!".... Even the animation team's own evening entertainment will make you giggle if not exactly high class stuff.

All in all I couldn't fault any of it. It was just what we wanted. Mainly for couples and families with older children really. No kids club etc although there is a lovely beach for them, a play area and a small paddling pool
