| said: This was the second time we had stayed at the Plaza de Russie, on the first occasion it was with Magic of Italy but on this occasion we booked direct and flew to Pisa with Thompsonfly.
The hotel is absolutely magnificent, opulently decorated with large sofas, antiques, chandeliers etc. Whilst the rooms are small they contain all you require including satelite TV, mini bar etc. and are decorated and appointed in similar opulent style. If you request a superior room you will receive a sea view and this is worth the extra. In the early evening it is nice to open the windows and take in the sounds and smells of Italy. At night if you close the inner shutters, the windows and the outer shutters you can make the room totally dark and quiet for a wonderful nights sleep.
Having said all the above, the really special thing about this hotel is the roof top restaurant. The views from there are excellent and in fine weather it is possible to sit outside. The food, particularly the evening meal is absolutely exceptional and presented so magnificently that you almost want to photograph each dish before you eat it. The detail is such that any vegetable or piece of fruit will be a perfect specimen. The staff are very attentive but don't be put off by this description of perfection as they are very friendly and you never feel uncomfortable.
The room is kept scrupulously clean and the desk staff are very friendly and helpful.
The hotel does not have a garden or pool but is affiliated to the beach and pool concession called 'Nettuno' about 2 minutes walk away, just obtain your ticket from the front desk.
