Not too many English mostly German's that were very friendly hotel spotless the rooms are dated but did for sleeping!!!
Staff outstanding and would certainly go back ( o :
A totally relaxing holiday probably more so for couples or older groups of mixed couples not very many children thus no sticky tables at meal times!!!

| said: We stayed for a week at the Riu Flamingto, it is a 4 star aparthotel and shares its facilities with the Riu Papayas where the restaurant and bars are. The hotels are joined so you can easily walk through to them. The apartment was very nice, nothing to go into raptures over but we had no complaints about it. The kitchen only had basic facilities but you were able to cook if required and there is a fridge/freezer. A satellite television was in the apartment but we could only find Sky News and BBC World in English.
There was a lovely swimming pool area and gardens with a tennis court, table tennis and pool table and a children’s small playground. There were lots of sunbeds and never any problem getting one. There was a complimentary bus to take you to the beach but it was within a reasonable walking distance as were shopping centres, restaurants and bars.
You can arrange to dine at the Riu Papayas and we did this three times. They do a wonderful buffet and I would say probably the best we have ever had and it cost 20 Euros – well worth it with such a large and excellent selection of food. You could also have breakfast for 9 Euros but we didn’t get round to this and had breakfast on the balcony instead. The hotel and apartments were kept very clean and the reception staff friendly. My son and family joined us from Switzerland and I emailed to ask if they could be put near us and they arranged for them to be in the apartment across the corridor from us which we appreciated. There didn’t appear to be many English people staying in the hotel.
In the evenings there was a trio came on about 7.30 pm and about 9 pm on three evenings they had a show, i.e. Mexican Dancers, Irish Dancers (absolutely fabulous) and Chinese Acrobats.

| said: My husband and I stayed at this hotel and it was our first visit to Gran Canaria. In April/May it was a tad chilly so take some warmies. The hotel was superb in every way. They do not provide kettles in the studios as we Brits call them so we used the 'tea pot' to boil up for a cuppa. Take a travel kettle!
Good location but not for folk with young children; not much to do for the kids at the hotel No problem for us as we are older and did our homework but the clients were all ages and some nice people who in the main kept themselves to themselves, language barrier maybe. Very clean and comfortable.

| said: Great hotel in a good position.
Staff very friendly with very good service.
Rooms very comfortable and well equipped. Looking slightly dated but very clean all round which more than makes up for the odd cracked tile. We felt very relaxed, safe and comfortable in our room. The free air conditioning was the best feature making it so refreshing after returning from a wander or a day by the pool.
As you will probably have gathered from other reviews, the British are in the minority at this hotel. Mainly German guests with a wide mix of others making up the rest. What we did like was the class of the guests. Call us snobs if you like but there were no groups of rowdy yobs round the pool or coming back in the early hours. It made for the most relaxing and enjoyable holiday.
One thing to note is that there is a magnetic switch on the patio door which operates the air conditioning. This means it only works with the door shut. The patio doors have large bolts on them and the room doors have very secure looking locks. This means you can shut your room very securely keeping your possessions safe and still come back to a nice cool room. Absolute bliss.
Yes people do reserve sunbeds with towels! It doesn’t matter though because we visited the pool every day at varying times and always had a choice of beds with parasols. Plenty to go round with loads of padded covers and fresh free towels every day. The pool and the grounds were one of the best kept and well laid out that we have come across. The palm trees look lovely and provide a bit of welcome shade if you need it.
The pictures on the website and in the brochures show things just the way they are. No taking the pictures to hide the bad features and make it look better than it is. They don’t need to.
Because of the layout of the hotel, all rooms face the sea. The non-garden view rooms look out over the more boisterous hotel pool next door and have more road noise. In our opinion it is well worth the supplement for a garden view room. If you are going for an apartment ask for one towards the rear of the hotel as these will be quieter. If as we did you opt for a studio they are all nice and quiet. In all cases ask for a room on a high floor for the least noise and best views. You can email the hotel via www.riu.com with your request.
All in all a lovely holiday.

All areas of hotel spotlessly clean although in a bit of a timewarp! Had lunch pretty much everyday in the pool bar which was excellent value and had really exceptional service.
The staff appear to really like their jobs! All were very well groomed. Delightful pool set in well maintained tropical gardens. Good location, just ashort walk from Yumbo centre. Bit of a hike to the beach but they offer a free bus for guests.
Live entertainment each evening by the pool - was like being on holiday fifteen years ago! Had a really nice time in this hotel. Hardly any Kids which was appreciated.

Unfortunately we were staying at the Teneguia, and my aunt stayed at this one. Disliked the Teneguia so much we spent all our time here.
This is a lovely hotel. Posh huge reception with really friendly helpful staff, that seemed pleased to see us, even when we weren't staying there.
The Pool was HUGE and since there is another Riu next door, the facilities can be shared so you get 2 for the price of one!! There are many sunloungers about and a poolside bar, so was IDEAL really. Theres also a shop there which is really handy.
Can't remember the apartments much but they were of a decent size and really lovely!! The view from the apartment balcony over PDI was really something!!
The evening entertainment is something like I've never seen before, it really is top class. When we were there one night they had a mini stage and there were Spanish Flamenco dancers! They were awesome.
This Hotel is really central as well, so no worries about location. Also, no groups of teenagers staying here, so really family friendly.
I'd definitely stay here if I went to PDI again, or at any Riu after seeing this one!!!
